Melia Las Dunas: Large Clean Resort

The Resort Layout resembles Playa Pesquero in Holguin, the grounds are maintained by many Friendly Gardeners. The Lobby area and front of property and all the walkways were great, all with ample locations for great pics. We were in contact with resort prior to our arrival to arrange A La carte Dining and request our Room requirements (5 adults/4 children/3 rooms) Sandra Alemán Alvarez was our contact name, Very .. The things I was disappointed with was (1) air conditioning in the room was poor, even with windy cooler days it never did the job, was set as cool as possible from start to finish. (2) The buffet restaurant was big, busy, lineups and loud, this was the main area you realized you were staying at a Big Resort. (3) Pool area fills fast and travelling with children in a group you will have problems getting chairs together or chairs at all, first time we have had a chair stolen with our bag tied to it .... found bag later thrown aside! The good outweighs the couple things I mentioned .. on a beauty day that beach was perfect ...... Enjoy !!!

Memories Paraiso: Excellent Resort

We went to this resort Jan 5 to Jan 12 for a week as a family. I would like to recommend this resort with a beautiful beach to anyone. Please when you book do it in diamond club it is big advantage than the regular one. We have Bangalore facing the ocean and was very clean with excellent view. Staff from Diamond Club was extraordinary especially young guy by the name Lois.

All staff was great! As for the hotel not so good! We were travelling with 30 other people and recommended this resort as we have been here 3 times before and had an excellent time.First we booked back in August and requested to be on a certain side of the resort that was accommodating for everyone with us, easy access to everything as some are a little older, When we arrived we were put on the far side at the very back of the resort when we asked they said that they were over booked and having [... read more] to send people to other resorts. That was not the issue , they were having problems with everything.More then half our rooms had no working televisions,no air conditioning, no hot water or towels,and the phones didn't work.They only had 2 trolies running, where last year there was 6. The plates in the buffet were always wet and dirty, and service very slow. All the tolets in the pool area and lobby were missing the seats,and out of service for days. The quality of the food was very poor either over cooked or under cooked.Then we find out that a couple that was there last year was given a silver wrist band for returning, upgraded room, extra towels , bottle of rum in there room, and extra dinners. Yet this was are 4th year there and we were given nothing! Our customer service rep was very good at trying to help us through out the week. Will we go back? I don't think so. I think over all the problem steamed from cut backs to the resort and not the staff.

Grounds were very neat and tidy,food in buffet was mediocre , the al la carte were very bad with the exception of the Romantico. The buffet lineups were very long no matter what time you got there, the dishes were dirty and wet, the tables were not wiped after the previous people, just complete chaos.The rooms were very outdated and smelly. Sorry about the negative feedback, but this was the worst resort we have been to , and we are extensive travellers !

Our family had a great time at Melia Las Dunas! Staff were all very friendly! Resort was beautiful with lots to do! Rooms looked exactly as they are pictured online. Restaurants requiring reservations were very accomidating for our group of 22. Thanks for a great week :)

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Overall nice resort

Resort is overall really nice-very pretty,rooms are nice and fairly modern. The big beach grill restaurant, Mediterranean a la carte and the night club are under construction since last summer it seems and that was really disappointing. The service at the a la carte restaurants disappointing.Staff did not seem to know anything about the food that was on the menu and extremely slow service. Beach was nice-one side was sandy and the other more volcanic rock but overall beautiful. Resort staff very friendly. Stayed at the Playa Cayo Santa Maria before and the service and food was superior. Would recommend once they complete renovations and they need to improve the food quality and service at restaurants. They should have stated that renovations to restaurants and night club were underway.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Great beach and modern hotel !

We requested the room away from pool..... they offer us a room facing pool! It took full day and visits to four different rooms to find what is OK ! PR staff helped resolved the issue Food was great; staff superb

Memories Paraiso: First and last time

The best part of this resort is only the beach I would say. The rooms and resort itself is falling apart. We had cockroaches in our rooms at one point and just uncleanliness around the resort. Our original room the lights tv and outlets didn't work so we had to be moved. We could not get towels any time of the day and we were all covered in sand flea bites. Roc Lagunas del Mar: Warwick review

Very nice hotel with modern room and large walkin shower. The beach is totally awesome. The staff was definitely NOT friendly at all,an example of this was a request for a teaspoon that turned ugly as we asked the wrong server who did not even correct us We were 3 people in the room and had to ask for face cloths and towels every day. Getting a beach towel was even worse. The pools were green even though they sprinkled chemicals The food is the same everyday and you be the judge when the past [... read more]a line is an hour wait compared to the grill station is only 5 minutes we paid $25 per person for the lobster dinner and got a half cooked lobster tail and the body was stuffed with peas and carrots.

I found ALL the staff very pleasant and helpful; the maids, the drivers,the wait staff, the bar tenders, everyone! The grounds were well kept and that is coming from a former landscaper! Of course the beach was absolutely beautiful! The rooms and restaurants were very clean.

The hotel and beaches were beautiful, food was good with a good selection, the place as very clean and organized with many excursions and activities daily, we were very pleased with our experience there and how the staff treated us.

The pool and beach at this resort were amazing and the staff are super friendly. It's nice that they're upgrading and keeping things from looking outdated. For Cuba the food was actually pretty good. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting to go to Cuba.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Good Hotel for the price

One of the few negatives was that it was a 2 hour bus ride from the airport to the hotel. the hotel itself was nice, well maintained, however it is huge, there was an entire part of the resort that we didnt know about until half way through the week. the pool and beach were beautiful. the Michael Jackson show at night was fantastic - the guy really looked like a younger MJ. Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Really nice resort

Beautiful beach & people. Adult side was quiet and comfortable. Food and service were both good. Lobster was available for lunch and dinner. Rooms in the adult section were spacious and clean. Would definitely recommend this resort

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: A Tale of two Vacations

Context: I have travelled to Cuba more than 10 times and love the country. I also have a good idea of it's limitations so knew what to expect going in. We made the most of our time and had a blast... Having said that, this resort was not cheap... so I one still expects value for their money.. onto the review.. Part 1: New Years 2017... was a disaster. The resort experienced a flood of Cubans (500+) for the New Years weekend that it was not equipped to handle. Which of course would [... read more] be difficult, given that these guests were taking massive hunks of cheese and hiding them in their purse. Grapes and Apples were stowed in pockets. When that ran out, the butter was taken by the basket until the resort had none. Then the bread.. there was a 1 day period where the resort didn't have bread... at all. The lineups for the only 2 open a la carte restaurants (where people tried to take refuge from the crowds of angry locals who were yelling at the buffet staff when they ran out of something) were massive. The staff became on edge and help for any issues was slow if forthcoming at all. The management did not respond at all to the issues until the sunday.. where they began controlling access to the Buffet.. so now there was a line there too. The staff were aware of the incoming storm of Cubans, and knew it would be like this. (I spoke with many staff regarding the issues) If only we had been warned before booking! Oddly, the beaches, snack bar and pool were not busy during this period. We learned our lesson, and avoided the Buffet and "rode out the storm". The experience made the resort feel much more like a 1 star for the duration. Part 2 The Storm Passes As quickly as they arrived, the large group left. Our experience for the final 4.5 days of our trip was fantastic. The staff, now much more relaxed, were friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful and pretty good for a Cuban resort. My wife in particular loved the Pizza stand. (choose your own topping and they cook for you.) There was also (in the buffet) a Sandwich stand, Pasta stand, and a few others. The omelette and smoothy stands at breakfast were great. The A la Carte restaurants if I'm honest, could use soem improvement. The food, for the most part was ..ok. Enough with the food, I don't go to Cuba for the food anyway! The coffee bar was awesome, from the espressos to the frozen frappes or whatever they are called. The bars were great also. They had alot of higher quality drinks. 7yr aged dark rum, etc etc. The nightly band that played almost daily from 8-9 was great, as well as the Retro show they put on one evening. The pools were clean and beautiful, the beaches gorgeous. Really a very nice resort.. now back to some negatives. 1. The entertainment in the theater was dreadful. I mean seriously cringeworthy. Do not waste your time. 2. The Towel exchange was rarely manned, and half the time the guy working there had no towels. (not really a big deal) 3. Severe lack of entertainment staff. Very little entertainment outside of the nightly live band. (which is a plus for some people that prefer quiet) 4. Spotty wifi ( I expected this going in, but if you aren't familiar with Cuba.. the wifi is down more than it's up, and the bandwidth can barely handle Facebook.) 5. Posted event/dinning schedules were not updated until a few days into the following time period. So had no idea what restaurants would be open, who was serving what etc etc. 6. Gift/smoke shop literally only held 1 person and was closed more often than not, even during it's posted hours. 7. The best show we saw (and one of the highlights of our trip) was not advertised anywhere in the resort. We just happened to be there when they started setting up. What else did we miss??? 8. The good entertainment (live bands/retro show) were sooo bloody short. (retro show everyone expected to last all night ran from 7-8:30.. wtf?) The live band was only 1 hour a night. I place blame for all the (real) issues on the management staff. They really dropped the ball in so many ways, and did little to improve the situation. The resort has so much potential, I really hope they work on the issues and make use of the beautiful resort they have. I wish I could rate the resort higher, as the staff, when not stressed (lol) deserve rave reviews. However the overall experience left alot to be desired.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: OK resort

The best thing about the resort was the beach, the food was always under cooked and the rooms were very damp. A few of the people from my group got a little sick from the food.the service was pretty good. Outside of the resort their is nothing much to do and the shows they put on were the worst I've seen in Cuba so far.

Nice small resort with friendly staff. Beautiful beach. Room outdated, plumbingneeds update. Entertainment could be more diverse. Pool very nice and the service is excellent. We recommend it to friends

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Almost perfect!

Beautiful resort, in terms of location, beach amenities, food and certainly it's people. one red flag: they have a staunching sewer smell around multiple places of the resort, I was surprised They need to have a night club in the resort, nothing to do after 10 PM, hundreds of people gathered in the lobby during that time, which made it very loud and uncomfortable.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Amazing Resort

We normally stay at smaller 3 star hotels but thought we'd give ourselves a treat and tried this upscale one. We were really impressed with the food in the buffet and the restaurants. The service was excellent and our room very spacious. While the hotel has over 500 rooms, these are spread out over a large area so you never felt like it was crowded. The beaches were well maintained and and had restaurants and bar service right there. Snorkeling was good in close. We met some super staff [... read more] who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The only downside was the 90 minute bus ride and the airport facilities at Santa Clara. The airport is too small for the number of travelers and needs an upgrade.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Relaxing getaway!

My daughter and I just returned from a week stay at the Valentin resort and have nothing but positive things to say about the food, staff and facilities. The beach is amazing and the cleanliness of the entire place, inside and out, was impressive. Definitely would recommend anyone looking for an adult only get away to consider the Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso resort in Cayo Santa Maria Cuba.
