Melia Jardines del Rey: Much Improvement needed!

Where should I start..I’m only commenting on what I witnessed Health Hazard- the dirty wine/water glasses and cutlery in the buffet restaurants are simply rinsed in a bucket of dirty water dried and reused, this is not acceptable. Choice of fruits were watermelon, green honeydew and pineapple. If you were not there at the opening your choice of foods were limited as they runnet out. Starfish Cayo Guillermo: Amazing trip

This was our first trip to Cayo Guillermo and so soon after the hurricane. We were delighted to see the resort was in great condition and we had a wonderful time. You could see the desolation left after the hurricane everywhere. The staff were very friendly even though they seemed short handed in some areas. The bars were very busy but the staff handled this very professionally. Daniel in customer service was very helpful and informative. We travelled with WestJet and our rep was very knowledgea [... read more]ble. The buffet was very good with lots of choices at each meal. The Ala Carte's were wonderful. All things considered we had a great time. I would definitely travel to Sercotel Club Cayo Guillermo again and recommend this resort if you are looking for a small, friendly and relaxing vacation resort.

Hotel Mojito: Work in progress

I felt this was a 3 star location without the damage. The rooms were rough but clean. The pools were well maintained and in good shape but had broken tiles around the edges that were not a tough fix but no effort made to repair them. The entertainment through the day lacked inventiveness and the participation was poor as it was the same format/presentation each time. The evening shows were well done but the volume of the music and pa system might be considered dangerous to the hearing. I wear he [... read more]aring aides and had to remove them when watching the shows and it was still too load some people actually had their fingers in their ears at times. The food was good quality for the most but was the same everyday. The Ala Carte was great and the staff there were great. The site it self was still being repaired after the storm and the ground showed the damage and the attempts at repair. The beach was under construction while we were there and return clients said was far better than before the damage. I cannot say that we did not enjoy our stay but not likely to return in the near future. Perhaps when the reno's are completed and there is time to put things back together it may be a better place.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Beach, entertainment, pools are great! Food terrible.

Loved the pools and bar service at pool was great. Evening entertainment in lobby and theater was good. Beach beautiful. Rooms large and fresh. Patio door lock busted. Used ironing board to wedge it closed. A la cartes were best food we had. Buffet breakfast not great. Meats were fatty and tasted awful. Omlette grill oils seemed stale. Coffee was grey in color. Breads dry. Many foods were running out. Line ups long at buffet. Dance lessons and darts and stretch and strength class good by pool.

Hotel Mojito: Iberostar Mojito

The hotel service was very poor and workers there didn't wanna help you out at all. This is the worst hotel I have been at in CAYO COCO Washrooms in room smelt like sewage was backing up into the rooms. Resort was very poorly maintained and there was no one really to talk to either from the resort or from Hola Sun. Also we left some things on my back porch and it went missing. I've been to cayo coco 7 years in a row I've been to several iberostars in cuba but this was one of the worst. Also the buffet was the same everyday. Normally every other day buffets would be different but not at MOJITO.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice Resort But Some Areas Need Improvement

Grounds were pretty. Gardeners worked very hard and were very friendly. Rooms were large, well appointed, and clean. Pools were huge and very clean. Beach was amazing. Walked out to sandbar and water was so clear! Nightly shows were good. Lobby entertainment was great - pianist, singers, bands. Staff got people up dancing and having fun. Food in buffet was OK but not gre [... read more]at, with the exception of the omelette station and pasta station. Omelette guy was amazing - so friendly and made wonderful omelettes. They often ran out of hash browns and pancakes and one day we had to wait 25 minutes in line for our omelette. A la cartes food was fabulous though. Was surprised that many of the staff were not that friendly. One even rolled her eyes at me. Often had to wait for waiter to bring water to our table. They ran out of various things quite often - one day coke, one day beer, one day ice. Beer was warm one day. Water was often room temperature. We ordered fries at the 24 hr snack bar and didn't get them after asking twice so we left. This almost happened again on our last day. I asked three times this time. I was totally ignored by the bar staff when I asked if they could find out what happened to my fries. They just looked away and didn't answer. Some of the staff were wonderful but not all. Plumbing situation was not good. The toilets have flushing pedals on the floor but they seldom worked, thereby causing the contents within to pile up. Maids worked hard to keep up with it in the lobby but the pool bathroom was horrible. Despite these few issues, we still had a very nice time but I would not return due to food, some unfriendly/unhelpful staff and the toilet situation. One day, the floor of the wooden walkway to the beach completely fell apart under my husband and he fell about 5 feet straight down. Fortunately, he only got a small scratch on his leg from the broken pieces of wood but an elderly person may have been seriously hurt. When we reported this to customer service, they did nothing about it. It still wasn't repaired when we left and they offered us nothing for our trouble. Didn't even ask our name or room number.

Hotel Playa Coco: Nice Resort I would recommend this Resort

Honestly I have to say it started out with a few bumps however it turned out to quite a nice resort. These people have been through a lot and are working towards making this Resort better. The staff are wonderful and I am sure by this time next year it could be close to a five star resort . It would be nice to see some changes in their food menu but as we all know you don't go to Cuba to eat. My niece and I had a wonderful time. Bring your own pillow, I did. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Good resort with some qualifications

Great thing about this resort is the beach area; fine sand, shallow water and you can walk on the beach for a very long ways. The staff are generally friendly (except for the check-in staff and the public relations), but the grounds people and servers are very friendly. Food is okay but definitely not something that would bring you to the resort. It is the basic Cuban resort type food. Entertainment is very good. Palm trees are recovering and they are planing new shrubs, etc. In a year it will be very nice again. I will recommend it, but primarily for the beach and friendly staff.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Amazing vacation

Stayed at Memories Caribe from Feb. 20 to 27, 2018. We had great time. Resort is beautiful, small thus not crowded, located on the most amazing beach. Grounds are kept beautifully and they still repairing following the hurricane, but they did amazing job. Rooms are very clean and the staff is fantastic. The roasted pig, delicious! Lots to choose from sweets! Staff at the buffet is great. Cannot say the same thing for a la card restaurants, we did not enjoyed the food. Entertainment very good. There is yoga, aerobics, dancing lessons, etc...during day as well as entertainment by the pool. Big pool with swim up bar. The lobby bar makes great drinks as well as specialty coffee and the staff is amazing. There is a sports bar 66 which is also very good. One thing I would suggest to the management that the lobby bar and the sports bar be opened at least until midnight as now closes at 11:00PM. Overall we had ver good experience, amazing vacation, have already recommended to my friends and are considering returning.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Ok value for money!

We booked this resort as it was a good price. The beach is fabulous but can sometimes be hard to get a chair after 10 or so. Our hotel room was great, large and they set up a crib for us. The maid was amazing and made sure we always had enough water for our daughters formula. Worst part was the food, literally ate the same thing all week and not much variety in a la cartes as well.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Wonderful week

The hotel was very nice, lots of people though, have to wake up early to get a spot at the beach or pool area. The night entertainment in the lobby was amazing, the staff was very friendly and pleasant. Food is pretty good for Cuba, don’t have high expectation, but the breakfast was the best. I recommend waiting in line for the pasta at dinner. Beaches are beautiful and the a la cartes are very nice.

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Nice resort food not so good for our week

When planning our trips we rely mostly on reviews and feedback from friends. Seeing as this is a new resort with a gorgeous layout and reading past reviews we decided to splurge and check out this 5 star resort. This was our 8th trip to Cuba and we’ve heard on occasion to spend the extra money and go elsewhere. So with [... read more] that being said I will write my first review because like others we were both disappointed. Check-In- When we arrived at the resort around 4 we were told they were still getting the room ready. After about an hour they had a room in block 15, seeing as we did some homework we knew it would be a bit of a hike so we said we were willing to wait longer for a closer location and we were able to stay in block 5 which was close to all the amenities. We were very happy with their accommodations. As far as replenishing water and beer the first two days we had to ask. I figured if they didn’t want to do what was required then I didn’t feel the need for anyone in my room, our only request was to replenish our toilette paper and we were told on more than one occasion they ran out. Food- We have always enjoyed the food in Cuba, so that has never been a factor for us when booking a trip. This is the first and hopefully the last bad experience with food and lack of selection. I could go on about the set up of the buffet area and about the long jammed up lineups for pizza, pasta, fish, and meat but forget it. We chalked it up to how possibly the hurricane could have contributed to the lack of selection of food (the Japanese E la Carte was the best experience of the trip by far.) We decided to take the bus to the Iberostar Daiquiri to check out the resort. We did have lunch there and we were impressed with the quality and selection of food, so that cancels out the hurricane for the reason for lack of food to finding out they are run by different owners. The Daiquiri does have a nice market, gift shop, and beach but the atmosphere and layout at Playa Pilar Iberostar beats it. Beach-If you love laying on the beach and occasional running into the ocean then you may not like the layout considering they have a board walk over rough coral and you would have to go into the ocean by walking off the board walk. We knew that before we booked so we were ok with the set up. Cigar Lounge- Onei took good care of us at the Cigar Lounge. He made a tasty Spanish coffee and Sangria. He enjoyed discussing the history of Cuba with us which was a Big Plus. These are major points from our trip, overall we did enjoy the layout of the resort, the entertainment, servers, room, pool volleyball, but because of the quality and lack of food selection we will try another resort in the future.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Lovely resort

This is a lovely resort. It was hit very hard by Irma and they have worked very hard to restore everything. While some of the foliage is new and small, the grounds staff is fantastic and work very hard to keep everything neat and lush. The buildings are all freshly renovated and have new furniture and beds (very comfortable) but I would recommend a 2nd floor room as the ground floor rooms still smell slightly musty. The pool however has very little shade. I would recommend this resort and would back again.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Gorgeous beach and food

Since irma 5 mths before an incredible amount of work has been done,,some room for improvement on the older bottom floors around the 1105 area,,beautiful, friendly service,,excellent eve shows,,i definately will be back,healthy choices for food

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very Relaxing and Enjoyable

Resort was under a bit of construction due to the hurricane a few months before. Still very nice. Beach was amazing. Lots of fun activities to do. Recommend the boat trip. Drinks were good, food was fine.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Pretty Decent

Any time you go to Cuba you have to lower your expectations a bit. You're just not going to get the same level of cleanliness we're used to in Canada. The staff at the resort are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The service was great. The food was much better than I expected. Just find what you like and kind of stick to it. They had a couple chefs cooking fresh pastas and friend fish and rices which were quite tasty. I never got sick from the food. The beach was gorgeous and the pool are [... read more]a was decent as well. The rooms weren't the greatest but you're not exactly spending much time in them anyways. I'd definitely recommend this resort to other people. It's Cuba. You go for the beaches and the beautiful weather, not for the fine cuisine and luxurious rooms.

Melia Cayo Coco: Always amazing

Although there was much devastation after Irma, the hotel and staff were as good as on our previous visits and we will be visiting Melia again. The food was also up to par. The entertainment, although carried out in the bar area, was superb and kudos to the entertainment staff. Only have one objection and that is guests opting to chose their seating around the pool early in the morning and then not returning to them until later in the day.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Big disappointment

This place was all hype. All the kayaks were broken and we were told they don't have anyone to fix them. Our window in our room was broken and stayed open the entire time and they couldn't fix it. The door handle on our sliding glass door broke and I had to ask for 2 days to get it fixed. Our closet door couldn't open and they never fixed it. The sofa was broken and it too 3 days to fix it. There was mould on the walls with the sink and on the curtains. We got our mini bar restocked only if we c [... read more]omplained to customer service so we stopped. If you weren't in the door to the buffet right away, the line ups were about an hour and the other food was gone. There was very little variety in the food. They constantly ran out of soft drinks at the bars. It was clear they were understaffed for the size of the resort. There were not enough pool or beach chairs. The people were generally friendly but expected at lot of tips for not a lot of service. And the worst was the outdoor night club every other night that blasted the music so loud our windows rattled and they started at 10pm sharp and went until 4:30 or 5am, depending on the night. Save your money and go to Mexico.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Very Nice

Enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the resort, if you are going just for rest it is good , would have liked to see a little more activities and maybe a walking trail, if you were not up early enough to get a good spot at pool or beach you were SOL and pool closes at 6pm no night swimming ☹, food was not to bad but did not care for the coffee and powder milk, room smelled of mildew, weather was amazing

Hotel Playa Paraiso: The Resort was nice.

The grounds were well maintained and the Beach was awesome. Our room was ok but the bedding was to say the least medicore. We had a king bed which was great but it was made with what looked like two double bed sheets which separated while sleeping the pillows were so thin that it did not support one's head. When I asked for another set I got a block of hard rectangular foam which was hard and cube like. In the end I folded a blanket and put it under my pillow. The bed was made with a short  [... read more]sheet and the bedspread was a thin polyster cover. All and all the bed was the worst thing in the room. Have to say that the people were always very nice as always. It was ok but I would not go back.
