We stayed at the Warwick from Dec 30th-Jan6th.
Hotel/grounds Kept very well . Nice and Clean
Housekeeping always did a fantastic job.
We were in building 18. It can get very dark walking around certain areas at night, more lighting would be a great addition to your hotel for children/teens as well a adults who may have consumed a few beverages lol
Hotel staff definitely a 10/10. Always made us feel welcome and went extra mile.
Food: Chicken fingers are a must (however ran out half way th[... read more]rough week ) Snack bar was a favourite for us 24/7. Warwick sandwich a great option if you are not looking to head to buffet for breakfast as they have a few breakfast items as well.
La Med for dinner was great!
Beach: Amazing !!! A closer washroom would be a great addition as well !
Overall a great week!
Looking forward to returning!

Memories Paraiso: not a good resort would never go back there again.
For the amount charged and the money spent to go to this resort, this was not a very good experience for any of us. The food was not good and there was no fruit available when finished. They did not replenish the food when it was over. The only positive aspect was the beach and the white sands. That was the only good experience we had. Would not recommend this to anyone a big rip off.

Memories Paraiso: Left with bad Memories, avoid this resort!
Our family recently returned from our stay at the Memories Paraiso Azul Resort after a 7-day stay from Christmas to New Years.
We came in a large group and were astonished at the mass scale of the resort, there was plenty of place to roam unfortunately nothing was in close proximity to our rooms, making it difficult to coordinate activities as a group and an inconvenience for the older members of our group who had to walk at least 10 minutes to just get to the buffet.
The food was expecte[... read more]dly underwhelming, and we particularly did not enjoy the a la carte, but there were a couple items in the buffet that became staples throughout the trip.
The major saving grace of this resort was the beach. We spent the bulk of our day swimming in the crystal blue water, taking long walks and napping under the cabanas. It was unequivocally the high point of our vacation.
Unfortunately our trip was hindered by a number of issues. The facilities are sadly not up-to-date and guests should be prepared to compromise on certain luxuries. A few of the issues we experienced included: theft of a cell phone and cell phone charger, a broken bathroom door, a faulty toilet flush, flooding in the bathroom, a night with no running water and a defective air conditioning system.
On New Years Eve while we were at the buffet dinner (we had made reservations for 7pm a few nights prior) our room was accessed three times by someone with a duplicate room key. Upon arriving in the room later that night we found that our cell phone and cell phone charger had been stolen. We immediately contacted the front desk and they sent over a security guard, who unfortunately did not speak a word of English. They also brought over a technician who accessed the card reader on our door to provide us with a report on who accessed the room at what time. Since our screen door in the back was locked this was the only way someone could have entered the room.
Our cell phone and other valuables were kept in the safe for the duration of our stay. Because we were to leave early in the morning on New Years Day we decided to charge the cell phone and set an alarm for around 3:30AM.
The report generated by the technician showed that at 7:15PM, 7:20PM and 7:23PM someone had entered the room with a duplicate room key. This was certainly not anyone from our family since we were at the dinner buffet at the opposite end of the resort at 7PM. We explained this to the lobby staff but since whoever accessed our room did so with a room card, they were uncooperative in pursuing the matter any further, would not apologize for the inconvenience and insisted that the theft was from a member of our family!
They did not allow us to take a physical copy of the report, but allowed us to take a photograph for our records. To top it all off, there are no security cameras on the premises so this printed document was all that determined our fate.
Our stay at this hotel was nowhere close to pleasant and we ended on a terribly sour note. The lobby staff was extremely unkind when we needed them most, we were forced to prove our innocence to no avail and because of their unwillingness to listen to our story we left the hotel and ended our vacation without resolving the issue.
As on every family vacation, we have been responsible and safe with our belongings for the entirety of our trip, we have never experienced an incident like this and we are extremely disappointed with the resort for not having better security precautions to ensure issues like this are resolved. Aside from the loss of the device itself, the loss of crucial information, personal contacts, photos and videos and other items of sentimental value have been heartbreaking.
We certainly will not be returning, and will be sure to not recommend this to any one we know.
I stayed there from Dec 27th, 2016 to Jan 5th, 2017. Note that this was my first time in Cuba. Everything was amazing. Actually though. The food was incredible, the service was great!
We did have an issue with having towels for the shower on occasion. And it happened a few times that we couldn't exchange the beach towels because they ran out of clean ones. I was however disappointed that the pools closed at 5.00 pm. That's really early to close a pool.
Overall though, absolutely amazing. The [... read more]location, the service, the appearance, the food. I have always heard bad things about Cuba, but this resort proved them wrong. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting a resort in Cuba.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Worst experience in Cuba in 15 years!
Our family decided to take a vacation and get away from the snow. At first the review for Oceans casa del Mar were really good.
But it was a lie.
In the first couple of days the food did not sit well in our stomachs. We all had some type of food poisoning in which we had to stay indoors for a few days.
In the new year we seen more Cubans that entered the hotel. This is when the food was completely gone. We were lining up outside of the restaurants to try to get breakfast. Trays were empty[... read more] and dirty. The chefs gave the best to the Cubans.
When asked in the snack bar for sandwiches or bread they said it was all gone.
Plates in the buffet filled up to the top with just one item. Cheese, pork, ham.
For New Year's Eve we went to the ranch restaurant and spent one hour in the line and the food was horrible. So we decided to go to the display buffet which we had to wait for 30 minutes to get ONE slice of turkey for 3 people.
It was incredible to see that the Cubans were stuffing their handbags with cheese and other edibles.
We have traveled to Cuba more than 10 times and we know not to have high expectations for the food but this experience was the worst we ever had.
My family has decided that this is the last time we step on Cuban grounds.
We guarantee that the locals will ruin the tourism in Cuba.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Worst Vacation ever in my life!!!!
Ocean Casa Del mar in Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba.
Arrived 23 Dec departure 03 Jan.
I have never had such a bad vacation in my life!!!!
I never saw anything like that in my life! Over 100 locals (Cubans) entered the resort and our vacation were basically ruined.
Cubans are stealing food and plates form the buffet bullying all tourist, stuffing food in large bags full with meat, bread, cheese etc.
We had to line up outside the buffet for 30 to 45 minutes just to get in to get food and it had a[... read more]ll gone! I grabbed a bread roll, no butter available and sat waiting for them to bring more food. Each time new trays were brought out, they vanished in seconds.
Breakfast was just as crazy and the lineup at 8.30am was insane. We had to wait half hour to even get in! to find another line 30min. to get some eggs.
The "24 hour" snack bar, didn't have food 24 hours.
We will never return to this resort and feel as though I have wasted thousands of dollars! and 11 days of my life! I would never recommend this resort to anyone I know.
Cuban airline are disaster, departure from Toronto 8 hrs late, from Santa Clara waiting at airport for 9 hrs.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Ruined by locals :(
Before reading this review - keep in mind that if the management had not allowed 500 locals to come into the resort the experience would have been much different. The hotel itself was very nice, despite a few issues and although we had a lot of issues with staff not serving us, the ones that did were great. I would have loved the opportunity to visit this hotel under other circumstances, I believe it could have been 5 star.
I am reaching out in regards to a recent trip to Ocean Del Mar – Ca[... read more]yo Santa Maria. My boyfriend and I were staying there from Dec 30 – January 3 and we had the worst experience I have ever had at any resort, or anywhere for that matter.
Although this is a new resort, and most people would be weary – I was excited to visit since I have stayed in another H10 resort in Punta Cana and everything was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, that was not the case here.
We arrived late at night – around 9pm. We got to our room and the sheets were full of brown stains and there was nothing in the fridge, not even water – our room had been forgotten. We called the front desk and they said they would send someone to fix the room. We then head to the lobby bar and I went to the front desk just to confirm that everything would be taken care of. The girl was very busy talking to other workers but she assured us it would be done. We spoke to other people and no one else had this problem. We got back to our room almost 5 hours later and nothing had been done. We called the front desk multiple times and there was no answer. We finally walked to the front desk at almost 3am, which is a very far walk and the same person who said it would be done was still there. They changed the sheets, but still no water.
That was a horrible experience to start off with, unfortunately the trip only got worse.
December 31/January 1 the resort let approximately 500 locals into the resort. This absolutely ruined the trip for various reasons:
1) The locals were very ignorant towards the Canadians. We are not predigest and loved many members of the staff at the resort, however the locals that they let in acted like savages.
2) The food: We paid a lot of money to visit this resort and once the locals came we were unable to eat. The buffet was overrun by rude locals taking whole trays of food and leaving everyone else with nothing. They were ignorant and not courteous and you felt unsafe being in there. In one instance, we were in line for the buffet on new year’s eve and as the doors were opening – the locals got violent and a gentleman we were with got pinned between the doors and suffered severe bruising. This was followed by fist fights over food. They list that they have 8 a la carte restaurants but that is not the case. There were only 3 open and on new year’s eve they closed 2 of them and charged $30 to eat at the third one, which we did because we were starving and had no choice. Other times, we were forced to wait up to an hour to eat at the snack bar. The waitresses would serve all of the locals first so you were sometimes waiting 30 minutes before having your order taken. The food was horrible, and not what we paid for. With the amount of food the locals were eating, the resort ran out.. There was no bread for 2 days and we were forced to survive on hot dogs with no bun and ham and cheese with no bread.
3) The liquor: We suffered drinking the cheap alcohol because they had to hide it from the locals who were consuming everything. On January 2 after they left – it was a whole new resort. They had better alcohol out – men serving bottled beer etc. We should not have been punished because they let too many people into the resort.
4) There was never any toilet paper in the washrooms and when I would advise the staff they would just shrug their shoulders and say it’s all gone.
5) Twice all of the lights were out in the building we were staying ins main area and the surrounding area. I’m not sure if they do this to conserve energy but it was pitch black and very unsafe. If we had not had our phones there would be no way we would find our room.
We went to complain to the resort about the horrible events, however there was a huge line up people complaining, so we didn’t bother. We had spent enough time in lines and waiting just to eat and wanted to try to enjoy the little bit of time we had left without the locals. We thought it would be best to reach out to H10 directly since those who complained at the resort were not being compensated. I have looked at trip advisor and see that someone has already posted a horrible experience very similar to mine. I thought I would reach out to H10 directly first in hopes that you will make it right.
We were so excited to visit this resort, especially since it was a H10 resort but it ended up being our worst experience ever. We suppose that they decided to sell tickets to locals to maximize capacity, however it will hurt them in the long run. Every single person we talked to was miserable and hated their experience. We spoke to many others at the airport that stayed in different resorts and they did not have this problem and had an excellent trip.
We are very disappointed and feel our time and money was completely wasted on this trip and we now have no faith in H10 resorts.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice Hotel Poor Food
We just stayed a Casa del Mar and it was a good week. Staff was friendly, hotel was clean. The pools were very nice as well. The food was another story...the first couple of days were good then they ran out of food, qualitiy and taste was poor, and the lineups were huge. They do not take reservations for the a la carte restaurants which creates a very poor competitive atmosphere for food. Overall I give the hotel 3/5 stars!

Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful Grounds, clean rooms
Hotel is beautiful more than I expected from what I heard about Cuba. The grounds are gorgeous and well maintained. The pure white sandy beach and turquoise water are spectacular. The food is better than I expected as was the service by the hotel staff.
Food preperation and presentation on the other hand is severely lacking for what is supposed to be a 5 star resort
The chefs cooked the fish, chicken ,meats or eggs for you as your turn came up in the long waiting line at the meat[... read more]s buffet counter. Each order placed by each hotel patron took an average of 4 to 10 minutes, depending what you ordered . So if you were the 10 th person in line you waited for a minumum of 40 minutes for your chicken , beef or omelet. IF you were number 20 ,30 or 50 th in line or more you do the math on how long you can expect to wait for your meal.
In most cases your meats , fish or omlete was under cooked or raw in some cases as the chefs( usually one in most cases ) struggled and rushed the cooking process in order to try to keep up with the flood of people for breakfast lunch or dinner .Most of the meats need to be cooked and prepared in the kitchen then brought out to the buffet tables NOT cooked individually for each client.
This hotel needs some serious lessons and training on how to prepare meals for larger crowds and how to properly cook and prepare fish and meats etc. Some people I met and spoke to had been I'll 2 or 3 days they believe from eating under cooked or raw food at the resort .If the resort can get their act together preparing and serving some of their food it would become a top notch resort. As it stands now you have to be very very patient and wary on how your food is prepared.
Other than some of the food issues it is a top notch resort.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Beautiful resort!
The resort is beautiful, beach is stunning with a very long distance that you can freely walk and enjoy the soft sand and beautiful scenery. The rooms are up to date in decorations, beds are ok, it's not your comfy bed at home, but whatever! The food is plentiful, again, its buffet style, which is not piping hot and can become repetitive over 7 days, but again, it's is made up in other ways. The staff were amazing, always so happy and helpful, made you feel like family. We had a great time!

Melia Las Dunas: Melia las Dunas - a nice place
The place is nice and beautiful. Almost 2 hours by bus from Santa Clara.
Santa Maria island has maybe the most beautiful beach from Cuba and not only.
The food at Melia las Dunas was OK, better at a la carte restaurants, but everywhere the desserts were in need for improvement.
The grounds are beautiful, the people working there are great, very helpful.
The food need to be improved and lots of maintenance needs an attention.
I will definitely recommend.

Memories Paraiso: Amazing and sincere Staff.
Knowing the star rating for Cuba is not similar to other parts of the world, our family went with not very high expectations. With that said the challenges faced started from day 1: flush not working, no glasses, no bread, no fries, room key being faulty was a daily issue, coffee machine not working just to name a few . It was a trek to the front desk to get keys fixed. We were a group of 20 and each family had a mechanic in one of our rooms daily. The feedback when speaking to other guests was [... read more]similar. The most important thing to note was the sincerity of the staff and the eagerness to fix the issue and make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The key to all this was the lack of accountability from the owner of this establishment , the limited resources provided to this sincere group of people working in this hotel that made this sincere and hard working group of people look poorly .
Sunwing and the owner of this hotel ( same as Sunwing) portrayed a extremely high representation of this hotel which was not even close to the pretty picture . It would be great to see that the airline and owner of the hotel take ownership and fix what they have broken . It will make guests feel they are important and fortunately they are blessed with amazing staff .

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: A Disappointment
This resort was a huge disappointment for us. After reading all these amazing reviews, we were excited to have booked there, only to come back not so happy.
Pros: The beach, absolutely stunning. Our favorite spot. The pools were nice as well, and they had a really great play area for the kids which was definitely useful for our 2 year old. As this was a new resort, there was still a lot of building going around, but the grounds were ok, and the rooms were nice, especially the rainfall shower[... read more] head. Entertainment for the kids was great, the staff did a great job with the kids.
Cons: The A La Carte restaurants did not take reservations, which resulted in us and others waiting for almost 2 hours to get in and have a nice sit down dinner. That kind of thing doesn't work well when travelling with a toddler that normally eats dinner earlier (like 5:30pm). All the restaurants didn't open until 6:30pm for dinner, which was still a little late, especially for the buffet. Food was not good at all. Not too many options, and not very easy when you have a picky eater. Our daughter lived on bread and butter, watermelon and ham the whole week. The resort had a lot of Cubans stay there, which I don't mind, but I was really disappointed to see how these Cubans would cut you in line at the buffets, and some were just rude. Hoarding all the food, fighting over the food at the buffet....it was a nightmare to see. The food was also catered to the Cubans tastes and not the other tourists. I get that this is Cuba, and the food in general is not the greatest, but if this is a resort that is supposed to be 5 star, then there should be more options for food. I've stayed at resorts in Cuba that have had really good food. They also advertised 8 restaurants, but there were only 3, plus a buffet and 2 snack bars that were open. Some of the staff members were great, friendly and helpful, but there were a few bar tenders that could have put a bit of a smile on their face here and there....they wouldn't really look at you unless you tipped. Also, it was hard to communicate with some staff members as they didn't even speak any English or French. The walk from the hotel to the beach was a bit of a hike, and the closest washroom was by the pools. It would have been more convenient to have some bathrooms a little closer to the beach area.
Overall, I would not recommend anyone to go to this resort. If you can, spend the extra and go to Melia Las Dunas, it is 100% better, the food is good and staff is so much more friendlier and you get reservations for the A La Cartes. This has definitely made up our minds about not going back to Cuba ever again.

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Perfect Getaway
The Warwick is a perfect place to visit and leave the cold Canadian winter months behind. As is typical in Cuba, the staff are extremely friendly (guaranteed to make friends with the people you see often) and helpful. The rooms are cleaned everyday and mini fridge is always replenished with a bottle of water, two pops and two beers. There is plenty of things to do around the resort; beach volleyball, soccer, basketball, tennis, ping pong, foosball, billiards, lounging at the beach/pool, etc. How[... read more]ever there are also two markets nearby that sell souvenirs (smaller one is within walking distance along the beach). The coffee bar in the lobby and pizza at the 24 hour snack bar get an honourable mention as they served me well during my stay. The a la carte restaurants are on a first come first serve basis instead of a reservation system which results in some frustration due to wait times. Overall though, I wish that I could have extended my stay to enjoy the all inclusive life at the Warwick a bit longer.

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Very relaxing week by the beach
My family and I spent a week at this hotel from December 6 - 14, 2016. The grounds were amazing, great landscaping and very clean. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We spent the whole week on the beach. If you're looking for a spectacular beach, Cayo Santa Maria is the place to go! The food was average but there are plenty of options for everyone. Their was no lobster available at the buffet which I was looking forward to as it was lobster season. Entertainment was scarce but[... read more] then again my family and I are not very big on this, it may have also been the time of year we went. The two a la carte restaurants were mediocre at best, you're probably better off sticking with the buffet. The main desk in the hotel lobby exchanges money, as well as a designated banker that does the same around from the main desk. There's a separate office that sells cards to access the internet for 2 pesos for 1 hr of use, and a gift shop that sells cigars, gifts, clothing, sun tan lotion and other toiletries. My main complaint (which is pretty minor) is that our beach towels could not be switched out daily. There's a designated beach towel booth but we only saw staff there two times the whole week. Premium liquor is available and we were very happy with the selection supplied. We took the speedboat excursion, which was purchased at the hotel and had a blast! My family and I had an amazing time at this resort and would recommend it highly to those wishing to visit Cayo Santa Maria!!
