Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Enjoyable resort!

Our first time at the resort and we will be returning. We enjoyed the different restaurants and bars. Make sure to book the speciality restaurants early and bring a travel water bottle or tumbler for water and drinks at the bars. Great staff and a nice clean resort.

Melia Internacional: Impressive resort

Brand new resort which actually matches the pictures you see advertised online and the high star rating. New, shiny, quality built and so super clean. It is still not quite complete (in some sections) as it recently opened. Once it gets there it will be quite impressive. I am looking forward to the fully completed facility.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good girl's trip.

Reasonably sized resort. Rooms were clean and functional. Food was what I would expect in Cuba, always able to find something to eat, but nothing exceptional. Mike's coffee bar was great. Beach and water were lovely. I had read previous reviews about having to get up early for palapas, and this was true. However while we were there, staff were building and adding palapas. Was a good value for what we payed.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Wonderful Vacation

My daughter and I had a great time at this resort. The weather was great, beach is beautiful and the staff was friendly. The food got a bit boring after a few days but there is lots of options. I definitely recommend the Japanese restaurant.. best meal of the week. We met some wonderful friends and will definitely return to Cuba again.

Playa Caleta: Satisfactory

My travel agent, Monika Monist, was honest and really prepared me for the experience. I knew not to expect anything fancy -- and the hotel was far from luxurious. However, with the prior knowledge, I was not disappointed with my stay. Cold showers, power outages, and mediocre cuisine didn't take away from a beautiful beach, 24-hour bar and a clean, comfy room. Overall, I spent much of my time off the resort on excursions but was happy to return to a safe, well air conditioned environment.

Blau Varadero: Wonderful again

Our 14th visit, great scenery, staff and beach. We will come here again. They improve with each visit. We noticed the beef and chicken were not as good this time but still lots of variety. We spoke to several other couples that were repeat visitors like us.

Starfish Jibacoa: Great Vacation Spot.

The reviews are right on for the most part. The Beach is great with lots of shade and privacy unlike other resorts. The water has some great colours with interesting reefs to see a variety of fish. I saw lots of fish and even a sting ray the two time I went out. The Beach bar staff (Alejandro and Leo) were great and we talked to them a lot. Maybe some reasons that I don't know). Love the action that the beach had with the para-gliding, kite boarding, fishermen, and perfect sunrises. The rooms were basic and good enough. Love the water pressure and I have never had to be careful about how hot the water is. Usually there is never enough hot water let alone too hot of water. Air conditioning was working great too. The buffet. The breakfast was awesome. The best meal by far. The lunch was ok but we mostly went to the snack bar and ate the pizzas (which would be much better with ham on them) but they were delicious. The ham and cheese and burgers were very tasty as well. Supper was ok. Rice was great but I am not a huge fan of beef liver which was the only beef they had. There was pork most days and fish and chicken everyday which was tasty. The bread was the best tasting bread I have ever had anywhere. Recommend more plantain chips. All in all no one goes to Cuba for the food but no one normal goes hungry either. They do need a better layout for the buffet line though as it all clogs up at the grill. Also put the butter by the bread. The location is the best. Havana is only an hour away and Eddy Garcia was an awesome tour guide. He drove us all over and walked us through Old Havana telling us all of the information we could hear of all the locations and buildings. We booked him through Anne Marie the Air Transat rep. Nice restored Bel Air for the day. To top it off he took us to a hilltop restaurant where we could overlook a beach town and get some awesome views before heading back. Overall this was our best stay in Cuba by far. If you are going for the warm weather and nice scenery this is the place. If you are going for the food and amenities this is not the place for you. We will be back if the price is right but this is better than Cayo Santa Maria for beauty and not food.

Melia Marina Varadero: Great Value

Rooms were clean. Staff was attentive. Walk to beach is about 5 minutes and golf carts go by periodically if you don’t feel up to the walk. No shade at the pool, only 4 Bali Beds available and pergolas with partial shade. Palapas only available at the beach. Entertainment was good. Food was sub par but we always found something. Great value and I would return to this resort.

Starfish Jibacoa: Such a great place!

This resort is a definite 3 star! But!!!....... It's the best 3 star we have ever stayed at! We loved the grounds so so much! The bungalow was out dated but always so clean and the hottest water ever!! A bottle of rum and cigar was waiting for us ! What a treat!! ..the beach was the best! We have been all over Cuba and this was by far the best beach! With so much space to spread out and never had to worry about waking up early to grab a chair! We were never hungry!!! The beautiful ppl.. not all were super friendly though most were great! We love getting to know some of the bar tenders and staff!! We did some excursions .. Playa Caleta: Staff really good

The food selection was very much improved from the last time we were there.The room was renovated with new shower plenty hot water clean and comfortable. The elevator are falling apart only 2 working some time. Lack of supplies glasses ware,dishes and cutlery pools needs more attention of servicing and cleanig.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Beautiful resort!!!

Well let’s say that this resort has 5 stars for a reason! Beautiful grounds, friendly staff, food was amazing and their beach is white sand and beautiful waters. The privilege upgrade is well worth the money spent.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: ok resort, NOT a 4/5star

This is my 11th time to Cuba. I take the star rating one less than advertised. 3 star is more accurate. small dark lobby, bar staff not so friendly, couple rooms - all 2 singles, no beds for 2/overly tired rooms. 1st time the cappuccino bar coffee wasn't drinkable.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Beautiful Beach

The resort is getting a little dated, some tiles in the pool are off etc. but its clean and well cared for. They seemed to have a shortage of towels when we were there, but we did get some eventually. The service is wonderful. The beach is the nicest beach I have ever been at, the water is aqua and seemed to be calm all the time. The entertainment is very good and there is something different going on every night. The restaurants have good choices. we especially enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. [... read more] The buffet gets a little repetitive but that's fairly normal I find in most resorts in Cuba.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Could use some work

Staff members need to get of their cell phones and do their jobs. Maids never cleaned the rooms, made the beds and never replaced towels. People from off resort we’re walking around using the facilities no one stopped them or removed them. Food was good as Mexican company that recently purchased it is trying to improve it by bringing in more food items.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Great value

We thought the lobby and restaurants were well presented . The rooms were a bit tired but functional . Overall we had a great time ,the beach was amazing . The one downside was the folks on the beach with the catamarans were far more interested in getting guests to go out on the snorkelling trip they offered ,they were dismissive and borderline rude in their approach.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Best trip ever!

The staff were amazing! Always something to do at this resort. Beautiful spot ! Not once disappointed from check in to check out. Service was great, theater was a blast . Would highly recommend to anyone!

Melia Marina Varadero: Loved it!

This is the resort you want to come back to!!!!!! My husband and I enjoyed our staying very much. We stayed in room # 1350 from April 12 to April 19th. Beach was amazing!!! Entertainment team worked very hard, we had 3 classes on the beach every morning!!! Service was great, including room cleaning, dining, reception area. Grand Memories Varadero: Been here 3 times. Probably won't be back

We have been to this resort three times now, Once as the RIU and twice as the Grand Memories. Every time we have been before there has been an issue with the room. Once we didn't have water for two days, another time we had no hot water for a couple of days. This time we had a beautiful ocean view but the air conditioner didn't work. We ended up switching rooms the next day. The (Bar) pool on this trip was pretty dirty, they were working hard to get it cleaned up but we only went in it once. We  [... read more]didn't go into the other (Rock) pool as it was on the other side of the resort. The ala carte restaurants were decent and the buffet was ok. The 24hr snack bar usually ran out of items often, no bacon for breakfast, no bread for Hotdogs / Hamburgers. The best lunch was down by the beach pavilion @ 12:30 each day. Freshly grilled up chicken and sausage along with fresh salads and vegetables. The resort grounds are clean and very well maintained and the staff is awesome. The most annoying part of the trip was the other patrons @ the resort. A lot of rude, inconsiderate people blocking the pathways (walking four abreast) throwing cigarette butts and empty cans / plastic cups all over, pushing through you at the buffet, etc... The weather and beach were awesome. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed meeting couples and talking with the staff. BRING INSECT REPELLENT!

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort at an amazing location

Hotel was nice, rooms were nice clean, bathroom was very nice with double shower. The air conditioner in the room had a weird smell after about 4 days. The grounds were clean and well kept. Staff was friendly and welcoming. The buffet was good, specially after a couple days when you know what you like. Certain items could be stocked up faster during the buffet times. Getting a outside table for 6 every meal was sometimes a challenge but we always found something. 24 hour snack bar was always nic [... read more]e for fries. Walk to the beach was right outside our room, and the pool/bar was right on the other side...Perfect

Melia Peninsula Varadero: OK resort, but Not a 4 star

Excellent pool and beach. Nice layout, clean site and friendly staff. Our room smelled like sewage anytime we turned on the air conditioning. A la cart dinners were great, buffet was much the same thing everyday. The BBQ was terrible. Beds are very hard the mattress felt like sleeping on a plastic crib mattress and pillows are flat. We had lots of fun, but not likely to go back.
