Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Dissapointed

Cuba is a nice country, with beautiful beaches. However, this resort made the experience almost terrible. Beach/water - the water is amazing but watch out for stones and corral. Water shoes highly recommended. The beach is fairly small but they have enough chairs and shade. Too bad they are not cleaning it; there are lots of cigarette buts and other garbage on the beach. The guys that are supposed to rake and clean are busy collecting tips for setting up the chairs and pretending they clean  [... read more]the sand off the chairs. Service - they are very disorganized and non coordinated and I think this has to do with the bad management and supervision because some of the workers there seem to be hard working and courteous. They constantly run out of something or another at the bars, restaurants and beach snack bar. The towels place opens at 9:30 and sometimes closes when they run out of towels. The internet is SLOW and only available in the main lobby. The Cigars bar has its own rules; I found a drink that I liked but I could only have it if I buy a $5 cigar that I didn't want or need. The next day that drink was gone... and the list goes on. Food - terrible. I expected that as I have been to Cuba before and I know they don't have certain things. But if you make fries why burn them? And I know they had plenty of eggs, milk and flour so why do you make breakfast pastries hard as a rock and crappy? In some days or for certain meals they had good things (tasty and appealing) but in very small quantities. It was gone in no time and no next batch, so it was lack of food but just bad coordination. There is no excuse for the hundreds of flies and cockroaches seen in the buffet restaurant. There is no bottled water other than the one they leave in the room, the water in the restaurant sometimes smells and tastes bad. Rooms - are nice, at least buildings 7-8. You get 1.5 l bottled water daily in the fridge. Housekeeping is OK.

Melia Jardines del Rey: AWESOME RESORT

Fist time travelling to Cuba. I was unsure where to go and where to stay. Thank you Trip Central for your recommendation. I enjoyed every minute of my stay and i would recommend Melia Jardines del Rey. The resort was top notch. The food was delicious, and the beach was 5 star*. Thank you Trip Central for your recommendation.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Resort

This is one big resort. Rooms were great. Clean and spacious. The food was 31/2 out of 5 in our meger opinion. Staff griendly. 2 great big swim up pools. 9 restrants. Beautiful lobby bar. No problem getting drinks coffee ect. All in all very nice resort. Big beautiful beech lots places for shade at both beech and pool.

Melia Jardines del Rey: wonderful Resort

Everything was wonderful, the pools were clean and looked so good. the beach sand was beautiful, saw a little bit of garbage on the beach but all in all great. So relaxing, maybe more chairs, but great. first time at a resort and was very impressed. thank you for everything. Our room was always cleaned very good and very nicely presented every day we came back. Wonderful service, friendly and kind.

Hotel Vigia: Good Value for Price

Just got back from the resort Friday night. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our time there. The food was great considering a lot of places in Cuba aren't the best in that department. The weather was fantastic which made the BEAUTIFUL beach even better. Everyone who works at the resort are amazing people and work hard at what they do. A special shout out to Anita who works the lobby bar, she is amazing. And Julio, one of the grounds keepers who gave me a flower every morning he saw me. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great time by repeat guest!

Small hotel, everything within close distance of rooms. Fabulous beach with powder white sand, no need for water shoes. You can snorkel a short distance off the resort by booking a hobby cat for $20 cuc’s for 4. Food can be repetitive but you won’t starve. Rooms are clean and spacious, good a/c. Wifi available in lobby, buffet, snack bar, pool area for $1 cuc for 1hr. It worked well enough to FaceTime home. Be at the beach by 7am to reserve a chair and palapa.

Sol Cayo Coco: Great Resort

The hotel was very clean. Beach was nice and spacious -never had any problems looking for a beach chair or hut. The best part of the trip had to be the amazing service we received from the staff. Special shout outs to Riley, the stir fry chef in the evening and the front desk ladies. The cleaning ladies did an amazing job Day in and out while also maintaining a sense of fun with the cute shapes they would make with our blankets and towels. Hotel Playa Paraiso: Un peu déçue...peut-être over booking et ouragan Irma?????

Je crois que le fait d'avoir été touché par l'ouragan Irma, est peut-être un des facteur qui a fait de notre voyage quelques déceptions, je m'explique: le personnel d'accueil et de chambre n'étaient pas très serviable et flexible. Nous sommes arrivée de soirée dans une chambre délabré, rideau taché, de très vieux couvre-lits, les côtés du bain douche à une hauteur de 30 pouces( besoin d'aide pour y embarqué et y redescendre) les portes savons et autres accessoires de salle de ba [... read more]in rouillés, la porte de celle-ci brisée. Cependant, 2 jours après notre arrivée, ils ont fait l'effort d'installer de nouveaux rideaux et de nouveau couvre-lits, ce qui a amélioré le décor. J'ai demandé qu’on soit changé de chambre, même à la superviseure et s'était impossible. Notre chambre même si elle était au 1er plancher était nettoyé qu'en fin de journée, vers 17h, alors une journée ou j'ai été malade, j'ai dû demandé de laissé faire le ménage car j'avais besoin de me reposer dans mon lit, après avoir errer jusqu'à 14h dans l’espoir que ma chambre serait faite à mon retour. L'autre truc que je n'ai pas apprécié c'est que le jour de notre départ, nous revenions du déjeuner vers 10h15,pour prendre notre dernière douche et finaliser nos valises, devant faire le scheck out pour midi. Notre clé avait été déactivé et la femme ménage dans la chambre à côté ne pouvait pas nous ouvrir,ni personne. J'ai donc perdu 1/2 heure d'attente à la réception pour réactiver ma clé et me faire dire que je devais être de retour pour midi, sinon ils devraient me charger un surplus, il était 11h20. Je me suis sentie chassée de la place . Par contre, le reste du personnel étaient bien gentils, mais semblaient très fatigués. La plage est belle, les palapas reconstruits....beaucoup d’infrastructures et de végétation abîme.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach, So-So Resort

Overall our vacation was fairly average. My boyfriend and I stayed at Memories Flamenco Beach Resort from Feb. 14th - 21st. I had been to Cuba before so we went in knowing that the food would not be spectacular, but with this there were many other small disappointments that began to add up. Pools: We were very disappointed with the pools at this resort. There are two, and one of them has a swim up bar. The pool with the swim up bar is about 2 feet deep throughout which we found extremely dis [... read more]appointing. The other pool was much deeper (about 5 feet), but having to get out of the pool to get drinks every 15 minutes made hanging out by the pool a lot less enjoyable. Lounge chairs were very hard to find even for just two people, but this seems to be a standard issue for any resort. Beach: The beach at this resort was absolutely stunning. Out of all the places I have travelled to, the beach here was the most beautiful. We found ourselves at the beach for almost the entire week because the pools didn't compare. Room: Overall our room was very clean and well kept. However, our TV didn't work, two of the lights didn't work, and there was no hot water at any point throughout the week. It's wasn't even a little bit warm- it was absolutely bone chilling. Food: As expected, the food was not very good at this resort. After about two days of eating at the buffet we were able to find what food was best (pasta station, stir fry station, omelette station). The 24-hour snack bar was not good at all. They rarely had everything available on the menu, and the food seemed to be extra disappointing. We went to 2 of the A' La Carte restaurants, the Italian and the Asian. They both offered good food, but other than being a lot cleaner they weren't much better than what the buffet offered. Nightlife/Entertainment: There isn't a whole lot going on for this resort in terms of night life. While the lobby bar is 24/7, there is no disco on the resort. We were told about a disco down the street at another resort, but we didn't end up going there as we would have had to pay for our own drinks and transit. The shows each night at the theatre weren't terrible, but they weren't anything special. We found ourselves leaving halfway more than once. With everything considered, this resort should not be considered a 4-Star. More like a 2. We did have a good trip, it just would have been nice to have lower expectations so that each fault didn't come as such a disappointment. We wouldn't travel to this resort again, but we don't regret going.

Melia Cayo Coco: Terrific Valentine's Day trip

My husband and I did not have really high expectations for our trip to Cuba as this was our third time visiting. All we knew for sure was that the beach was going to be amazing. Melia Cayo Coco was a wonderful surprise. The resort was 15 minutes from the airport. The check in was done within minutes. The food was excellent and there was very good variety. The rooms were large and clean, and the service was friendly and not obtrusive. And the beach was more than amazing...it was large, clea [... read more]n and had lots of sun shelters with roofs for shade. Many of the nice guests we spoke to were there for their 7th, 8th, and 9th time! Yes, we have been to many ultra-lux hotels on other islands, but if we are talking about value for your money for the beautiful weather and people of Cuba, then I would absolutely recommend this hotel.

Hotel Vigia: Sol Cayo Guillermo

This was a very nice resort. The people were friendly. The food was good and a reasonable selection was available. The beach was beautiful and you could see the beach from the pool area, which was also good. The entertainment was good. They had dancers and singers or musicians almost every night. The employees were very helpful and accomodating. We had a relaxing week.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Fabulous Resort!

Excellent Lobby and Main Bar! Huge area to dance or mingle. Staff was absolutely the best. Very friendly and welcoming. The nightly entertainment was the best I've seen in Cuba so far! Great dancers! Unfortunately the chairs in the Theatre were very uncomfortable and cold so we had to take a pillow from our room to be able to sit. Once we figured that out, it was comfortable. Food was good and plenty. Excellent cheeses! The food prep area and serving plates could use a bit higher grade of clean [... read more]liness but overall was acceptable. The hotel room was a bit musty but, being after a major huricane, it is also understandable. Overall, it was a great holiday!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Great place for relaxation and entertainment!

We enjoyed our stay in this resort with our small family and friends. Beach is beautiful and shallow. Lots of activitues by the pool area. Night programs for kids are fun and shows are spectacular, don't miss them! Food is OK, unlimited drinks help you relax. Friendly staff!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Good Vacation

Only complaints were that the rooms were plain. Looked “tired”. The grounds they were doing improvements. No hot water. Sometimes could get warm. Food is what you would expect in Cuba. Drinks were cold and beach was beautiful

Hotel Vigia: Beautifull beach !!

Visited the week of Feb 14th to Feb 21st, had a great time, hotel still abit rough around the edges after Irma but they are working hard on restoring the grounds and rooms, the beach is better than before but a very windy week. We had to change our room once as this seems to be a common occurrence, some rooms aren't quite up to par, the food was ok but a little repetitious, staff were great, overall a good trip for the price we paid. The room was really clean the beach is amazing the staff very friendly the food was ok at buffet and the A la carte was excellent (Bana,bistro and mexican) Over all we liked it but the food at buffet could be ameliorated

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Wonderful time once again!

This was our 4th time to this resort and loved our time there once again! The people working there are second to none, they make the resort what it is! They have worked so hard at recovering from the hurricane they experienced. I would return in a heartbeat.

Melia Costa Rey: Amazing resort

We loved everything about this resort! Beauty on ever level and the food was great,we have been going to Cuba for 10 years and this by far was the best! Would go back next years.the only thing they could improve on is the 24 hours snack bar the poor guy was run off his feet the needed to have two people during the peek hours , yet even under the demands of many people waiting for their food he managed to dance and sing WOW!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Vacation!

Pools/Beach are fantastic - they accommodate everyone. A lot of older people and kids/families at the shallow pool and younger adults and couples at the "party" pool. Sand was white and ocean was clear on the beach, tons of room just make sure to reserve a spot if you want shade early in the morning. Music was fantastic at both. Food was not too bad at the buffet but it pretty much accommodates everyone. We had tried the bistro, Cuban and Mexican restaurants and they were all amazing!! Highly suggest the Mexican. Beach buffet is probably the best one for lunch. Sometimes didn't get a bottle of water left in our room but make sure you do because you can't drink their water. Service was okay throughout our stay considering the resort was full with over 2000 people. Tipping makes a difference obviously. Drinks were good - ask for sex on the pool or Miami vice (the best one is at the entertainment bar). Lobby was full of life and entertainment was great - a lot of live bands playing which was enjoyable. There is a disco which is on the resort but I don't think it is part of it 100%. Didn't have a chance to do any excursions but I heard they were fun! We had a massage on the beach for 30mins for only 25 pesos and he was amazing (highly reccomend)! To top it off we had perfect weather from Feb 13-20 lots of sun, some cloud which was nice and a breeze. It only rained twice at night for maybe 2 minutes and we missed it both times which worked out. We stayed in bungalow 23 and it was a good spot in between everything. Overall it was a great vacation and I would definitely go back again! P.S Alex the Zumba instructor on the beach is the kindest most fun person you will meet.

Melia Cayo Coco: Exceeded expectations

Very nice small hotel - Melia needs to invest in renovating the rooms, bedding & linens which would improve this property so much - very dated! Exceptional staff from front desk - entertainment (Victor is an asset to this hotel) to the bellboys and even the gardeners who do a great job of the grounds. Food very good - best I've had in Cuba however have to do a better job on freshness & rotation of salads etc. That are left out at beach restaurant...not good!
