Melia Peninsula Varadero: wonderful experience

really worth it. we be chilling at the beach drinking piña coladas one minute and the next minute we be at the pool bar drinking mojitos. really fun resort with excellent employees and outstanding service. trip to havana was a lifetime experience you should definitely do that.

Grand Memories Varadero: Very Disappointed

Our room was very run down. My bed was broken and I could not sit on it . The mini fridge in our room did not work for the first five days. I went and requested a fix every day we were there. On the fifth day of our stay we came back from an excursion the fridge was still broken, there was no water and the air conditioner was off. Now I have to mention the food. what was supposed to be hot was cold, what was supposed to be cold was hot by the end of our week all we could eat was white rice [... read more] and potato wedages. I was expecting savory food but this was really bad. The pool was green on several days. I would stay away from this hotel.

Starfish Varadero: Exellent Resort

I stayed in this hotel about 5 times but this time I got very disappointed about all and I will not be returning back again. For 3 days I was not even having a beach towel in the room. My phone got stolen in value of 1009.00 There was a family in room 104 in bungalow that had their golden cross in safe box and it was stolen. Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Not up to par

My boyfriend and I stayed at playa alameda for a week in April. As a frequent traveller to Cuba I know not have high expectations but this hotel was definitely lacking in many ways. Food was not good, no variety,was cold and the cold dishes were not cold , ala cartel were terrible. Only good thing was soup. Rooms outdated and damp had roaches as well as in the buffet crawling around the grill stations. Pool is much re like a wading pool deepest part was 4.5 ft the rest was 2.5 ft. No drink service around the pools or on the beach. Pool bar ran out of beer a few times. Also ran out of fries and pizza at pool bar. The beach bar always had line ups This resort is very short staffed broken glasses all over resort did not see the pool cleaned once when we were there. The positive is the few staff they do have are pleasant and friendly. Entertainment was ok. Could use more involvement and switch up schedules also there was no volleyball or soccer that was advertised. Wifi is only available at the lobby but early in the morning before everyone got there. Public washrooms had no toilet seats or hand soap. Sprayed once the whole week for mosquitoes. Definitely would not recommend or return to this resort.

Hotel Villa Cuba: Commit a crime in Cuba to get better room conditions in prison than this place

My wife and I stayed at Be Live Experience Varadero (Villa Cuba) for five days between April 13 - 18. We arrived with moderate expectations but sadly disappointed even further throughout our stay. We already started rating this place the moment we stepped off our bus, beginning at 3.5 but it all went downhill from there to the point that we were looking for flights to go home on our third day, and our rating of this place dropped as low as below Zero (0) to minus -3.5, sadly, TripAdvisor has [... read more] no settings for that. If you are considering to stay at this place, this resort should pay YOU. Building and Structure - Rating 1*: The moment we pulled up, you can tell this place is extremely dated. Understandably, in Cuba, dated is fine, but neglected is another matter. Cracks, leaks, uneven floors, missing tiles, name it, you'll see it. Staff and Service - 2*: Some were decent, some were indifferent, and some were just disrespectful. Everyone (except for that ONE old guy at the Coffee Bar, he was very nice) behind the counter from the front desk to the bar were unfriendly, unapproachable, and gave us the impression that we were inconveniencing them. The ladies behind the front desk counter are constantly socializing with each other. They would continuously speak to each other in Spanish WHILE serving us. I once stood at the snack bar by the pool hoping to order some food, and the server behind the counter did not even acknowledge my presence. The server could see me clearly in front of him, and no word of a lie, he just outright ignored me but served the guy that came up behind me. Room and Accommodation 1*: Upon arrival, we paid for an upgraded room, which was located in the main building close to the Coffee Bar. We were shocked by the state of our room. The panel ceiling was falling down in the bathroom, I fixed one of the tiles that came off the side of the tub, the air conditioning had a very strong mold scent. Understandably, that accommodations in tropical climates demand that the A/C be running constantly, however, the strong scent of mold was unbearable that my wife's allergies began to make her sick. If you like feeling springs in your mattress, this is the room for you. There was also this constant leak coming from the ceiling that made a pond on the bathroom floor. Cleanliness 0*: This place is not clean. We had to buy and bring our own soap because the bathrooms in the common areas such as the one near the buffet restaurant, by the pool bar, and the lobby either had one tiny bar of soap that we had to search for or no soap at all. Food 1*: Expect the same thing served at lunch to be the same thing served at dinner. The food was bad, as expected but this is not what you come to Cuba for. Oily croutons are offered as a late night snack by the snack bar. Beach - 4.5*: The beach was nice. This was the only redeeming quality about this resort. Plenty of lounge chairs. There are spots where there's loud music and some spots are quieter. OVERALL: We're thankful we did excursions over three days so we did not have to stay at the resort the whole time. We would recommend staying somewhere else and avoid this resort.

I want to be as fair as possible. We requested at arrival an upgrade to THE LEVEL room and the service on all the food locations except the buffet are pretty slow, they need to improve a lot the speed of service on it. The people is just perfect everywhere. Something else than i told them is the none main stairs are not clean, basically between levels 1 to 3. Club Kawama: We feel at home at this resort!

We have been to Club Kawama many times in the past 41 years. The staff are friendly and helpful. The grounds are beautiful, with lots of mature trees. The beach is amazing. The buildings are old, which we consider part of the charm. The food is good and plentiful.

Barcelo Solymar: Not very good

Many bartenders were disrespectful and ignore us when they were not doing anything. When I tipped bartenders it did not matter I didn’t get any better treatment. Servers at late night buffet would wave me away when we wanted to order.

Melia Las Americas: Resort/golf course was great!

We liked it as the golf course was part of the same property and easily accessible. Some staff was friendly and efficient and some staff just was not. Often talking amongst themselves, forgetting they had vacationers to look after.

Club Kawama: My Home Kawama

As always I enjoyed my vacation with Kawama. I found the staff to be outstanding, polite and they are beautiful. This is my 4th time to Kawama and I absolutely love going there. I went to the returners dinner and was so amazed that Leida remembered everyone and stories about all. I will return again next year as always. Palma Real: Home away from home

Party resort for sure from morning to morning. It never ends. Not a family resort. Stop bringing kids. Specially in the swim up bar. Im still gonna smoke, swear and drink and be as wild as i want. Sucks for your kids to see but get the OUT of the ADULT pool. 🙃 Their is a kids pool for a reason. we had a lot of cubans staying same time of us which was pretty annoying cause they get all the attention. All white sand and clear blue water. Was quite a few chairs when i was there mid april. Beach is huge, you always get your own spot. Food sucks completely but thats not what i go for. Except the fruits are good. I brought a bag out sauces like ketchup, peanut butter, honey garlic. It all helps a lot. Walking distance to everything cause you're right in town. This was my 6th trip to this resort and im only 20, i go for a good time and big party. My only complaint was all the kids and food. Definitely recommend to come here for a cheap good party.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Declining facility

I stayed at this resort 4 years ago. First time I have ever returned to a resort and was disappointed. Entertainment was not as plentiful as my previous visit and buffet food not as good either. My partner was very sick with food poisoning after eating shrimp on our second night and we did not return to the buffet after that. Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Pretty Resort and Gardens

Very clean room, common areas including bathrooms and grounds. Very friendly and helpful staff. Our waitress Yanela made a beautifully decorated table for us one evening and provided excellent service the whole time we were there. Food was good, could always find something tasty to eat. For our many visits to Cuba, this rates at the top.

Hotel Los Cactus: Wonderful

Would absolutely return to this resort. Wonderful staff, they make the place special. Lots of return vacationers, made some new friends. The breakfast and lunch buffets were good, need to improve the evening buffets. The Transit supper was delicious.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Hit and miss

We stayed at Memories from April 17-24. Firstly the majority of the staff were amazing. Our room was in need of some repair but nothing that we could not live with, our housekeeper kept us entertained each day with her towel art. The grounds are also in need of some repair but the grounds crew do their best to keep it looking presentable. Lack of food items offered in the smaller areas, the Mexican alacarte is not worth your time unless you want to head to the buffet when you finish, the lunch area at pool number 1 we waited over an hour for our lunch and then they told us they lost our order??? The pools were clean although pool #2 that has the cave smells like a sess pool (in the cave). We loved the beach it was clean and the water was amazing. Evening entertainment was a hit and miss as well internet is only available in the front foyer and only if you purchase an internet card (only 1 paso). I recommend you spend the extra money and go with the Diamond Club this gives you a few extra perks. As well head into Varadero to the Beatles restaurant/bar and plan to stay for the evening entertainment it starts at 9:30pm. Beside the Beatles restaurant there is a park, there is an italian restaurant in this park that by far has the best italian food going, stop in for dinner. We will travel to Cuba again, but there are soooo many resort options that I try another resort.

Palma Real: The good and bad

The grounds were well kept the beach was amazing. The entertainment crew were fun the maids in building 2 were great. The children should NOT be in the pool with the swim up bar. I do not enjoy drinking with children. There are 3 other pools they can have fun and splash in who wants to party with their babies? It should have an age limit.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Nice resort, but requires some inprovements

I enjoyed staying at Fiesta Americana Punta Varadero. But there are a few things I would recommend to change. The check-in process was SUPER SLOW. People after a long flight and a bus transfer do not have the patience to wait an hour to check-in. Some rooms were available much later than 4 pm (check-in time). Waiting time at a la carte restaurants is hours. I understand that everybody is on vacation, but that is a lot of wasted time that could be spent somewhere else. Rooms are decent. Memories Jibacoa: Memories forever

Hotel is a lovely spot for a peaceful week . Staff are the friendliest of all the places we have stayed in Cuba. If you like to snorkel this is the place to be . Bring Pringles ! The location is perfect , halfway between Varadero and Havana .Isolated but only an hour away in either direction for entertainment .

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort for those who like the ocean and long sandy beach

The ocean and the beach are the best of the best The rooms are clean, no smell of mold or mildew The ground is clean and beautiful The reception is very friendly The food is so--so. Although it is getting better. The waiters and waitresses in the buffet are excellent. The entertainment is really good The pool is small. But we are not pool people.
