This was my 3rd stay at a Grand Bahia Principe resort. This resort was beautiful. The food was absolutely amazing. Many drinks to choose from but each bar tender had their own way of making drinks, so if you find a drink you like....remember who made it. The staff was great but felt a bit uncomfortable when the washroom maid wouldn't leave the room. All in all it was wonderful and would recommend this resort to anyone traveling to Puerto Plata.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Good for what you pay.
The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are clean and basic but no fridge in the room. We asked for a fridge and one appeared in our room 2 days later. The buffet was also basic, nothing fancy but you will not go hungry. There is also a restaurant close to the pools with hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, fries, etc. If you can't find something you like to eat there is something wrong. P.S. The chicken is always good.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: very pretty resort
overall opinion , I would go back in a minute.. the service we received was awesome..our room was spotless..fridge had a little trouble freezing the water and pop, but at least it wasn't warm.and always stocked ,,. the grounds were extremely well kept.. the buffet restaurant was amazing, clean and fresh..the servers were excellent, thankyou Mario..great fellow.. the A La Carte restaurants were good, but prefer less buffet. (soup, salad, buns, dessert,) .like to be served when going to specialty [... read more]restaurants..the swimming pools were wonderfully kept clean.. the bathrooms were always clean, no matter which one you went to. plenty of lounging chairs, beach chairs pool chairs, and there was always shade when needed.. everything was positive.. but, my only negative experience was Easter weekend, when the public came in..it was too loud, busy, and sometimes downright rude, when it came to buffet restaurant. pushy not wanting to wait in line-ups..so butted in front of you..ok that's it for being negative.. it was a great week..for R and R and that's what we went for..... the hour drive to get there .. give or take...it was good because you get to see a bit of the culture and people..crazy driving lol wow..

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Good resort for price
We travelled from mar 30th – april 6th. This was our 1st time in the Dominican Rep. As per most of the reviews you get what you pay for! If you are looking for a cheap vacation of sunshine and relaxation and don’t sweat the little things this is a great resort. The only issue we had was not the fault of the resort but was loud obnoxious guests. The group across the hall for some reason liked to party in their room all night instead of partying outside. The rooms have hallways so the noise ec[... read more]hoes. Also the a/c unit somehow was connected to the room next door? We woke up in the middle of the night and our room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke and it was coming from the the room beside us.? We took our concerns to the manager and the next day had us moved to another building in the resort which ended up being much quieter. (If we had not been moved , it would have been a miserable vacation). Over all for $650 Canadian the accomodations, food and service at this resort was more than worth it to us. (Take ear plugs just incase)

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Disappointing
We arrived on March 28th (second time to this resort) and were escorted to our room. The room obviously needs to be renovated. The bathroom counter was falling off the wall. The first 2 nights there was no hot water as the locals were at the resort. The air conditioning had the knob taken off so you could not adjust the temperature in the room. It barely even worked. The toilet had a slow leak as the toilet would constantly fill throughout the night. The never notified us that they would be work[... read more]ing on the plumbing in the night and shut the water off, so when they turned the water back on the toilet would flush and wake us up. Most of the staff were excellent except for one bartender who would serve anyone that spoke spanish first. Anyone that was english speaking she would ignore. In fact we asked for a glass of ice and she very abruptly advised that she was not open, yet a spanish speaking person came directly after and she served them. The food was the pretty much the same every day. Only 1 or 2 items changed daily. We will never book at this resort again and I would recommend not to book at this resort.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great March break trip
Have to give the Costa Dorada top marks. It is close to the airport, nice beach and pool, good food and a huge assortment of activities. The resort is very well groomed. We found the staff to be very friendly. The entertainment crew was lively and did their best to involve the guests. The Costa Dorada is a nicely sized resort. We never felt crowded despite the fact that we were there during the March break. Chairs were always available on the beach or by the pool. I would not hesitate to recomme[... read more]nd this resort.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great food
We really enjoyed this resort, but the best part was the food. I have never seen such a selection in my life. And the quality was the same. The resort is a bit too big so there is too much walking to get to the beach and food, but that was the price too pay for quiet. A nicer view would be good too. Bottom line, we would love to come back.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Cleanest resort ever!!
This is an excellent 3.5/4 star resort. Staff was amazing, food was good, rooms were decent, grounds were beautifully kept and everything was impeccably clean!
It's a lot smaller than other resorts I've been to, but that just means less walking. There are only two restaurants and maybe 3 bars, so variety is limited, but everything offered is great.
As well, there is only one pool but it's very big and super clean.
The beach was the highlight for me, clear, warm water and spectacular sunsets. [... read more]The sand isn't white though, was kinda hoping it was, but everything else about it is perfect. It's huge, never a problem finding lounge chairs. And it's so clean! The workers come by with a truck in the morning and clean up all the seaweed. My husband and I took a long walk along the beach, passing many other resorts, and ours was, by far, the nicest!
A major bonus is, the hotel is only about 20 minutes from the airport!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Not the greatest trip..
Grounds : Buildings are lovely and numerous! The resort is absolutely huge and shuttles must be taken to get to some locations. Shuttles can sometimes take a little bit of time to come, but are fast and efficient when they are there. The resort is built on a hill, and as such, there are a tonne of stairs! From our room, which was not all that far away from the lobby, we still had to walk about 4 sets of stairs (40-50 steps). To the beach was even further.
Accommodations: Rooms are okay at best.[... read more] You cannot drink the water, or use the water from the taps for anything that will be consumed - even brushing your teeth will require bottled water. The housekeeping staff will come and replenish your bottled water daily. Speaking of housekeeping - they do not knock and wait for your response. If you have not put your sliding lock on, they will barge in without a moments notice - regardless of what is going on in the room. This happened to us at least 5 times. The air conditioning goes off every day for a couple of hours around 1-3pm. Likely a money saving venture that does not inconvenience too many people - but the rooms do become quite hot very quickly. The cleanliness of the rooms is not top notch, I would not consider the rooms worthy of their 4 stars. There is black mold on many things in the bathroom - grout and toilet roll hanger to start. The housekeeping staff puts small flowers in your bathroom for your first day - throw these out immediately as by night time thousands of tiny bugs will be running around your sink.
Restaurants and Bars: The buffets are very hit or miss. I lived off of chicken burgers and potato salad for the week, but there are some options that others might enjoy. I was being very safe not to get sick - and typically like to stay away from stews and soups that I cannot tell what is in them. Breakfast is okay - bacon is often gone and scrambled eggs are very watery. The a-la-carte restaurants are fantastic! My personal favourite was the Blue Lagoon - their Filet Mignon was to die for! When you first get settled in your room, an envelope will appear under your door with your three guaranteed reservations for the a-la-carte restaurants. When the day of your reservation comes, if you would like to change it, you must walk up the 45 steps to the main lobby and go to guest services, wait in line, speak with a representative, and ask to change the restaurant/time. In most cases, they cannot guarantee your changes, and will send another envelope under your door that night. Which means you have very little time to get your envelope, see your reservation, and in some cases then travel all the way across the resort to get to your meal on time. It becomes quite a hassle.
The bars are okay. During the day they are plentiful, but most close at 5:00pm, leaving only the main lobby bars open. Which means that, again, you are clomping up potentially 60-70 stairs (from the beach) to get a drink. The pools are all closed at 7:00pm, but the bars beside them have been closed for two hours already by that time - it just seemed really silly.
Staff: Staff were generally okay. Their moods, and helpfulness, increased greatly when there was money in your hand. I adored Pablo at the Ying Yang spa - and actually everything about the Ying Yang Spa as a whole.
Beaches: Despite having many beaches, non-VIP persons are really subjected to one small beach. It is definitely not the white sands and perfect blue beach that everyone hopes for. In fact, it is very wavy, with patches of rocks. The sand is often unclean and littered. Cabanas, hammocks, and chairs are available and plentiful. The VIP beaches are much better, with clean sand and gorgeous water, but they will cost you.
My biggest complaint : Would definitely have to be the constant up-sell. If you do not go to the meeting at the beginning of your trip, you will be accosted daily at breakfast by "tour guides" who would like to sell you a membership to the lifestyle resort. This membership is similar to a timeshare scam, and costs thousands of dollars. They are able to sell this because half of the resort is off limits to regular visitors, and with the membership, you are allowed access to the nicer beaches and restaurants. This on it's own definitely made the trip less enjoyable, but even once you got to the beach, there were constantly people coming up to you trying to get you to spend more money - Chukka water sports, spa services, even two men with a parrot and a camera. There was constantly someone trying to sell you something, which made relaxation difficult sometimes.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Nice Resort
The rooms were nice, very clean, no bugs. All pools were clean & in good shape. Had activities during the day at the pools. Grounds were lovely, the ocean crashing on the rocks were spectacular, 3 Jacuzzis, hammocks available. Food at the buffets was good & plentiful, always something to eat. The Seafood, Mexican & Italian restaurants were not too bad. All the staff were friendly, helpful & pleasant. The location was great, out the front of the lobby, you are in the downtown area. Lots of shoppi[... read more]ng & a few blocks away was the public beach with lots of restaurants & vendors. No one hassled us at all, the locals were very friendly
Three negatives: More fresh fruit should be available at Lunch & Dinner.
:The entertainment at night is not the best at the amphitheater.
: Need to have more than one bartender on duty at the beach bars, the lines were too long.
Overall, a nice resort, would recommend & go back again.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Fantastic Vacation Spot
The Cofresi resort is set between the ocean and the mountains providing a panoramic breathtaking view of both. The romantic scenery of the villas between the palm trees and floral gardens set on a hillside is truly memorable. The many different types of pools provided areas for different groupings of people - for families and adults. There were pools that had quiet areas for reading, and then the party pools with the upbeat music and party atmosphere. They even had a kiddie pool which included r[... read more]aining umbrella and small slide for the little ones.
The accommodations were clean and well kept each day with fresh linens, towels and lots of bottled water and a mini fridge for your personal use. They included shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, sewing kits, combs, etc. We were quite impressed as we had been to other resorts that didn't provide these things. Beautiful balcony with comfortable furnishings overlooking this tropical paradise.
The staffs' motto was "we are here to serve you" they were friendly and polite and did whatever they could to make your vacation comfortable. There were 9 of us who travelled on the trip and we all had a wonderful time. They made sure that my friends and I were able to enjoy the al la cart dining opportunities as a group. The food was fantastic! We enjoyed Asian, Italian, and Mexican cuisine with an endless supply of fantastic wine and margaritas. The buffets were also top notch with fresh cooked omelets, pancakes, bacon, etc every morning made to order. I truly enjoyed the trip it was truly a great vacation.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: EXCELLENT
Very nice vacation, all was very clean and comfortable. I would, and did recommed this resort to my friends. The beach is great, food was as good as I expected from an all inclusive resort, pool area was very nice and lots of excitement. The nightly shows are well worth watching too.
