Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: THIRD TIME STILL A CHARM

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Awesome resort!

This was our 2nd visit to the Barcelo Maya Grand Resort, the last time being 11 years ago. We loved this resort just as much this time as the last. Check-in and Check-out was quick and easy and we found everyone working on the resort very friendly and helpful. The restaurants were really good and we were able to reserve at 5 during our stay. The buffet was really good, and lots of variety. We loved the beach and pool and never had trouble finding lounge chairs. We enjoyed swimming in front of the Tropical with the tropical fish. We had a great holiday!

The Reef Coco Beach: Quaint, quiet & clean ... pleasant stay

Pros:The hotel grounds were beautiful and pristine, the beach was small but well kept, beautiful white sand & nice swimming area. Our standard rooms were dated & basic but clean. The food was excellent, many choices, all fresh & flavourful. The servers were excellent. The entertainment staff were all fun & very friendly. Cons: not really all inclusive, extra charges for restaurants & wifi and special coffee. This was rather frustrating and annoying. This resort should consider charging a litt [... read more]le bit more so that “everything” is included as an “all inclusive” should be. We have been to many Mexican all inclusive’s over the past 10 years and this was our first experience of not everything included in an all inclusive. This is a great little resort with lots going for it but the extra costs every time we turned around was a turn off!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great stay!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this resort for 9 nights and 10 days! I’d highly recommend staying here but it does have its pros and cons depending on what you are looking for. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the staff are ALWAYS working so hard. The room we stayed in was fairly dated and our air conditioner was leaking all the time but besides that it was cleaned daily. The resort Is fairly large but there are little shuttles that are always going by so you can grab one, and walking fr [... read more]om one end to the other would maybe take 10 mins max if you have a far away building from the beach. As for the buffets we weren’t very pleased with them but everyone else seemed to enjoy them. I would highly suggest making sure to book your a la carte a day prior , we really enjoyed those.. they were so yummy and we really looked forward to trying a new one every night. On Christmas Eve/ Christmas Day they have a lot of great shows and events going on!! There is always something going on here you won’t get bored!

Catalonia Riviera Maya: Fair resort for the price

We stayed here from December 18th through 25th. Nine people, 5 rooms. 2 privileged suite rooms, 3 privileged superior rooms. One of the privileged suite rooms needed the A/C fixed and it was dealt with fairly quickly. One of the 3 privileged superior rooms had a non functioning toilet that did not get fixed and the couple was finally relocated (twice) on the third day to a room that the A/C was called about daily. The food was good both at the buffets and a la cartes, service was excellent.  [... read more] The Bloved restaurant was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We snorkelled right at the resort daily and it was good. We did the excursion to Tulum and cenotes with snorkelling and lunch included and really enjoyed the knowledge and humour of our guides (BestDay.com tours). Unfortunately, there are not even close to enough beach chairs anywhere, not at pools, not at beach, not at privileged pool or beach. Overall we enjoyed the resort, pools and rooms were clean, food and drinks were good and plentiful. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Not that great

The beach front was very dirty and not well kept.. There was nowhere to snorkel out front, due to the bad visibility..And when Becky hurt her hip and was unable to go on the excursion, the kept the whole $130 American she paid to them... 👿 Not impressed with this place at all...

TRS Yucatan: A resort that is worth it to be visit.

This was our second visit. What a great facility...did not disappoint us. The rooms were beautiful, very elegant and modern. Our butlers ( Lisbeth, Alejandra, and Christopher) in vila 60 were very helpful and nice. They prepared a surprise for our 35th anniversary. We were very impressed by their kindness. The private beach was really nice with great Cabanas and service. The bars' service and the drinks and cocktails were fabulous with high quality. The Chic show was amazing. We were so i [... read more]mpressed by the talented dancers and signers. This show should not be missed. We want to say Thank you to Marcus and Ramiro from the Helios restaurant. They made every day so special with their great service and kindness. We highly recommend Gaucho restaurant. The food was excellent. Special thank you to chef David "Panda" and our weather Arturo. The Italian restaurant was great, as well. Definitely we will go back to this resort.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great resort

Beautiful grounds and buildings. Many lovely pools and amazing staff. The food is second to none. The room service impossible to reach and slow to restock the water. Very minor glitches and would happily return

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Christmas Holiday

Took my teenage daughter to this resort . The grounds are well kept. We found this resort had a lot of couples with young kids . This is a perfect family resort . If you are looking for R&R this is the resort Not much in way of entertainment at night tho. The staff is very friendly . We ate at two of the speciality restaurants ( Thai and Mexican ) and we enjoyed both. They have room service definitely take advantage of it.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Disappointing Resort

We were extremely excited about visiting this resort as the reviews were excellent. However, it, unfortunately did not live up to these reviews. We have travelled for 30 years and perhaps we have become too spoiled but we certainly expect good service at any 4 star resort. We booked with another couple and requested the same bldg but upon arrival were put in opposite ends of the resort. So, after discussions with 3 front desk staff, we were moved but had to wait until after 3pm the next day. The [... read more] day after that our toilet broke. 3 times through the week, we had to search for toilet paper as housekeeper was not replenishing. The same for shampoo, twice. We leave a $3us tip every day under the pillow but after 3 days we stopped. One positive thing I can say is that the beds are very comfortable. The buffet staff, other than Carlos in the a/c dining room ( who was excellent), left much to be desired. On Carlos’ day off, I couldn’t find a server so had to pour my own coffee. The food in the buffet was just ok. A lot of mushy weird looking casseroles. The beach was nice, seaweed was cleared quickly and efficiently, but there is quite a few rocky areas. I would recommend water shoes. The biggest disappointment for we Canadians is that there was no good Canadian rye whiskey. This resort didn’t even have Canadian Club which is pretty much a standard in most resorts but this resort only had LTD rye which is complete swill. The grounds are kept beautifully and the pools very clean. There is no way that this resort should be rated a 5 star, we could give it a 3.5. I would recommend to the managers to watch their staff in terms of customer service because as soon as your backs are turned work ethic stops. The couple we travelled with stayed at this resort 2 yrs ago and loved it which is why we elected to go this year, however with the mediocre food and the seriously lacking service, none of us would return.

The Sens Riviera: Great family vacation

We recently returned from a one week vacation at Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort. While the resort was advertised as new when we booked, it is actually an older resort that was taken over by Sunscape. The food was good, although the buffet did get a bit monotonous by the end of the week, but that is generally the case with most all inclusives. We quite enjoyed the pizzeria and the Italian restaurant. We had booked an oceanfront room and were disappointed that there was no balcony and alth [... read more]ough the view is spectacular, the windows don't open, so no fresh air and nowhere to hang your clothes to dry. I would say that oceanfront is kind of a waste of money, unless you got a ground floor room which had a terrace that you could walk right out to the beach. What made the trip for us was the staff. Everyone was very pleasant, but as special shout out to Noeli at the Coco Cafe who made excellent specialty drinks and was extremely sweet to everyone. As well, Gerardo C. at the buffet also made the trip special by making an effort to learn our names and remember our drinks and also pay extra attention to our 9 and 11 year old kids. He always had a friendly smile when we came in. All in all, a great family vacation. We would definitely return.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Nice Resort

The resort was very nice and clean. Their was a good assortment of food in the Buffet which was impressive. The beach and the pools were clean and good service One issue we noticed was that the resort(representative) never explained the resort and its amenities. The other negative was that when we arrived (3 adults), we were given one bed (not good) It was resolved next day. I definitely would come back.

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun: LOVED This resort. Very Relaxing 2nd Secrets been too

LOVED this place. Treated us like gold! the most amazing service and makes no difference if you pay to be in preferred or regular they treat you the same. Amazing. Food was delicious we liked the French Restaurant the best but all were delicious. If you goto French must try in Onion Soup and also their Duck so good!!! Tons of activities through out the day. This is our 2nd Secrets we have been too and all have been top notch. 3 years ago went to the one in Jamaica, last year went to Aruba and stayed different chain they didn't have on there. Horrible. We kept comparing it to Secrets. So this year we went back to the Secrets Chain and it was even better than Jamaica. Which we didn't think was possible. HIghly Recommend this place hands down. There is honestly nothing bad for me to say because it was that good

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Best Vacation Ever! ♡

We stayed 14 days in the adult only section in the penthouse suite. We had a large deck with a hot tub which we used each night. We had monkeys show up multiple times each day to hangout. That was our highlight of the trip. With the adult section, we had our own pool, restaurant and section on the beach. The service at the adult section was personalized and amazing. We became close with the workers and they gave us a nice goodbye when we left with flowers over our table. The food here is amazing [... read more]. There is a waterpark here which my husband went on and enjoyed. We found private senotes around the Resort and swam in. We are going to return again next year for 3 weeks and can't wait. Highly Recommend

Barcelo Maya Palace: Barcelo Maya Palace - Fabulous Resort!

My husband and 2 boys (in their 20's) stayed at Barcelo Maya Palace last week. Although it rained every day we had an amazing stay due to the resort being outstanding. Restaurants both buffet and a la carte were very very good. Beach was beautiful and very much enjoyed swimming with turtles and other marine life. Our rooms were very very large with fabulous bathrooms. They were clean and well serviced. Would not hesitate to recommend and revisit this property. Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Amazing experience

We absolutely loved our time at the resort. All of the staff was amazing. The food was great and fresh at every meal. The afternoon and evening entertainment was great, the resort had to work with lots of rainy weather and did their best to make it work. The gym is comparable to upper class chain of gym( Goodlife etc). Angelica in the gym was amazing. Take one of her classes.

Great resort lay out smaller with a very relaxing feel ! The staff are what separate this resort from any other i have been too ! They are amazing at meeting any request you may have . Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great food, friendly staff, not-so-great beach

The hotel grounds are very well maintained, the rooms are clean and the resort is very beautiful. The staff is also very friendly and respond to issues promptly (we had a leak due to excessive rain, and they were very accommodating, helping us switch rooms). The food is probably the best that I've had on all inclusive resorts with this level of rating (4 star hotel). They had 6 a la carte restaurants, and 2 buffets (one was closed) and the food was tasty with a good variety. It is a nice beach in the sense that it is scenic and very pretty, but the water is murky and there are LOTS of broken sea shells all along the beach, so you are not walking on sand, you are walking on sea shells (can't really walk along the beach barefoot). However, their pool is very nice, so we still had a good time and enjoyed being in the water. If going into the sea water and a nice sandy beach are important to you, I would recommend looking into another resort. The beach is the only negative about this resort though, it was great on all other aspects!

Barcelo Maya Palace: Barcelo is fine!

Food is excellent and resort offers something for everyone. Lane swimming and gym so you can maintain your routine lots of beach space. Comfortable rooms and nice shower. Would like to suggest that WIFI be included as standard instead of paying as an additional cost

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Amazing scuba diving!

The hotel was great but The scuba diving the hotel offers from the beach was amazing. Ended up booking an excursion then upgraded to get my scuba certification. The staff was absolutely phenomenal and the water was perfect. The beach was picture perfect and the water was super clear. Snorkelling near the edge you saw sea turtles and sting rays. Overall the best experience I could’ve asked for.
