Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Great hotel !!

Hotel was great!! Clean well maintained and modern looking! Pools were fabulous, beach was small but very clean. Did have a problem with bugs biting the first two days. Would definitely go back. (Esp since it was adults only!) typical Cuba food. Not the greatest.

Melia Buenavista: Beautiful, Peaceful Resort

If you are looking for a quiet place to get away this is it. This is the third time for my husband and myself at this resort and we love it here. All 3 beaches are beautiful with each having a different reason for visiting each day. We are partial to the "Sunset Beach" for all the wildlife you can find here and then the main beach for enjoying a long walk and not feeling crowded at all as there is always space. The staff are amazing and always friendly and it's always nice to be remembered and greeted when they see you!! The layout is great with enough space to make it seem like you're the only ones there and never crowded. There are only main 2 restaurants and this is where they need a lot of work ... slow service, wait staff do not speak English well enough sometimes to understand what you are asking for, not a great variety of food. The buffet that is available for breakfast and lunch has changed quite a bit from our last visit with limited variety as well but at least you can order off menu. I think this is the biggest downfall of the resort but we will still visit again despite the food/restaurant issues. They do need to a lot of small repairs/updates as well if they want to be recognized as a 5 star resort. There has been a change in management since our last visit and it was apparent as there were a lot of little changes. Overall we would still go back as it is a great place to get away to relax!

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful Resort

The hotel was beautiful. It was clean, the pool area was fantastic with swim up bar, lounging areas in the middle of the pool accessed by a bridge. The beach was great with white sand and also rugged in some parts. The entertainment at night was very good with music at the Lobby bar. The people were very friendly and helpful. The only negative was the food was very average. we were expecting mosquito problems , however there was no issue.

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: Relaxing

Staff are wonderful. Beaches are the best as always. Clean rooms. Small resort perfect to relax and enjoy. Will be going back for sure. Cuba is such a friendly place to go. 2 hrs drive to hotel but worth the drive. Only bad thing was getting to hotel at 11.30pm and arriving back in Toronto at 1230 in the morning.

Melia Buenavista: A Quiet Resort

Room was clean, lots of hot water with excellent butler and maid service. The three beaches were excellent. A sunset service occurred at one beach every day. Beach chairs were set up with guests being served champagne while a musician on a clarinet or sax played a lament to the sun falling to the sea, Very beautiful to watch and to hear. Guests could also order from the menu. The chefs did a nice job with the eggs benedict. Absolutely no food lines. Service was prompt. On this trip I was provided with resort coupons for extras. I used my 50.00 coupon and resort discount to have a massage by a professional. Amazing massage for 12.00 CUC especially when I pay 100.00 plus tax here in Niagara. Pick up and delivery to the resort was easy. The 48 km drive across the ocean to the resort adds to the pleasure of the 90 minute drive from the airport. All the staff were excellent to deal with. This was my 15th trip to Cuba. I am always unhappy to leave but look forward to returning. If you are looking for a quiet stay, the Melia Buenavista is the place to be.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great time

Beautiful beaches makes this the place to go. Great staff. Homemade donuts in the morning was a nice treat. The ocean can at times be quite rough but thankfully we got a few calm days of swimming. Bugs unfortunately ate me alive and am glad I brought some after bite. If you are someone who reacts to bites pack bug spray.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Amazing getaway!

The resort was absolutely beautiful! Very clean and the staff was wonderful. We were concerned about coming back to Cuba because when we went to varadaro four years ago the food was horrible, but food was awesome ! Only real complaint was you could not take cash out at the bank on the resort you had to take a bus or taxi into the market to a ATM. Other wise the resort and beaches were our favourite so far !

Roc Lagunas del Mar: Relaxing time!

This hotel was very new and clean, the pools were awesome, as well as the beautiful beach.. bar staff were amazing. There is no disco, so if you are looking to dance and party you need to go to local disco. I would definitely go to this resort again.

Melia Buenavista: A little bit of heaven

This is an amazing resort.....a hidden gem. We found it very peaceful. The beaches are amazing. Loved the pools. Resort was very clean. Food great. Room clean, spacious and over looking the ocean. Lots of extra touches. Very friendly. And....only a shuttle away from the other 2 large resorts where life was much faster. No disappointments....a great place to vacation.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Playa Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba,

everything was very good, except for the room we ask for an ocean view, and this is not what we had, it was very hard to negociate, at first they wanted 300.00$ and the next day we had ti pay 140,00$ extra to get a room 3rd floor with an ocean view, and move every thing.

Melia Las Dunas: Great vacation.

Excellent resort! This was the first time I have traveled to Cuba. I was pleasantly surprised at how our week played out. The weather was fabulous for the 5 days. Our accommodations were nice and very clean. The beach was outstanding and we never had a problem acquiring chaise lounge chairs. The pools were well maintained, clean and lots of seating. The food was average. Hitel staff were very nice and accommodating. All in all I would rate this resort a 4/5 and consider returning there again.

Memories Paraiso: Excellent staff and resort!

Amazing experience, great staff, accomodations, beach, pools. Wide selection of food at the buffet. Would definitely go back to that resort!! I was told there were a lot of jellyfish there, but we didnt have a single issue and we were in the ocean for several hours a day!

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Heaven on Earth

everything is perfect, can't ask for more, From the staffs to the activities, in fact we are already planning our next trip back, the facilities are very good and clean, very helpful and friendly, we felt at home, the beach is just amazing, service was right on, i don't think that there is bad about the resort, they are very professional dealing with everything. thank you very much.

Melia Las Dunas: Nice resort

The rooms have gone downhill and smelt very musty and not very clean. Killed a bug the first night I was there and it was still there when I left 10 days later. The food is still very good. The entertainment was not very good like is had been in the past.

Valentin Perla Blanca: Beautiful Beach

We stay at Valentin from Dec 9 to 16. The resort is very modern. The beach is beautiful with very clear water, although it's a bit windy. the staff is very friendly. One negative is the food is not good, maybe it's because it's my first trip to Cuba, so I don't know their standard yet, however, the snack bar with chicken finger and burgers are all good, but it's boring menu if you have to have those burgers and sandwiches for 3 times / day

Really great resort, I don't know where other people stayed to write a bad review, the rooms , clean and modern , the staff friendly and very helpful, food , best I've had in Cuba . I have no problem recommending this resort

no complaints with anything, grounds beautiful, food and staff really good, would stay longer than one week, staff like family, very hard working, rooms spacious, would recommend this resort to everyone

The grounds were lovely and well cared for, public area was kept very clean and well staffed, rooms were well cared for and clean. The beds were not that comfortable, a little too hard. I like a firm bed but with a soft top. The dining area was well staffed but some tongs were missing on some of the trays so you had to use the same tongs for 2 different deserts. Entertainment at night was excellent. Because we were the last resort the bus ride is 2 1/2 hours, very long, and tiring.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Okay for what we paid

Check in was two hours and there was no one really checking in. Three floors to climb when we asked for ground due to health issues. No elevators!!!! The resort is huge. Anyone with mobility issues will not like trying to get around. Drinks weak, but do have champagne if you ask for it. Food was fair only. Even breakfast wasn't great. No bread last three days. Hard buns only.Buffet was same day in and day out. Could have filled plate with eyes shut. Many complained their chicken etc. wasn't full [... read more]y cooked. Beach gorgeous but not visible from resort, you walk through mangroves to get there probably two hundred meters only to find that there are no bathrooms. So you know where everyone is "going". If you have any other issues you are out of luck! Many complaints I read about "rocky beach". No it's a nice sand beach with areas of the island/volcanic rock that jut out. The water is not rocky, nor is the beach for walking. You may have to go over some rock areas if you don't want to be in the water. There is no where to buy bottled water/sundries of any sort. The woman in the tienda sold my sister a pack of smokes for 3.75 CUC when they should have been 2.75. Buy them from the lobby bar seller. You sign for them, and pay on check out. They send minibar service, but five nights out of seven I had to call at six p.m. since we had NO water to drink or brush teeth with. The one chap who showed up was so RUDE because I saw him coming with cart but he was going into a room with it, and I think they were his friends. He hollered at me "what!". When I said "pardon" he screamed " WHAT????". Not what I expect at a 4.5 star! I wanted to report him but didn't. After he begrudgingly gave me water he entered their room and closed the door. Rooms nicely appointed. Hard beds! We were bit all over by something. I suspect it was in the room. Others who sat with us on beach/out at night/during day, had no bites! Last day my bed covered in ants. It may have been December that was reason for so many chigger/ant bites. Pools nice on left side. Quiet. Bathroom at pool had no seats/no SOAP or way to dry hands/no t.p. Disgusting! Got tired hearing about how their wage is poor and they depend on tips. Golf cart drivers who are going by expect a tip every time you sit on a cart. We gave nice stuff/brand new all week to maid and others plus they tapped out fifty CUC from us. We totally understand their plight but really who wants to hear it? The bus ride was HORRID! 2 hours! I wouldn't ever go back for that reason, plus the food stunk really. I've had better in Hoguin at what was once called a three star. I've been to Cuba ten plus years in a row, am not a high maintenance person and really think we got okay value for what we paid at 745. The place was half full only and they were running out of food etc. So not sure I would want to be there at high season. If you go for the beach you may be disappointed not being able to see it or stay on it if you don't want to use the water as your toilet! For walking the beach it was an amazing stretch! It's more like a four star at best!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Mixed Feelings!

This is my 6th time to Cuba and my 4th time to Cayo Santa Maria so obviously I love the area. It was however, my first time at this particular resort. While I can not say enough great things about the absolutely stunning Beach, the amazing pools, the spectacular gardens and the truly lovely staff who went above and beyond for every small request we made, I was rather disappointed in the food. The buffet looked lovely, but... food frequently cold, extremely overcooked or just not to typical North American taste. I recognise that Cuban food is typically bland to our palate but many of the items served were beyond help. There are so many simple things that could be done to greatly improve the food but sadly I will look elsewhere for my next Cuba vacation.
