Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Perfect escape from the snow!

We wanted to get away from the snow and sit on a beach; the firm beds and good food were a bonus! We were very happy with the resort minus the water pressure in the showers and the evening entertainment.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Amazing Resort

My husband and my third trip to the Barcelo Resort Puerto Plata. We love the people, entertainment, food, the well kept grounds and beautiful beach. Every visit has provided a new experience and unforgettable memories.

Riu Merengue: Nice resort for the price

Stayed for a week with my family. (March break 2015) Kids aged 9 & 14. It is a nice family resort but not alot of activities, especially for my 14 yr old. The grounds were very lush and well maintained and the staff friendly. The rooms were clean but very dated. There are 2 sections - the Village and Garden. I would suggest the Village section - if travelling with children. The pool area is quiet and not over crowded. We walked over to the Garden section and the pool there was VERY busy and crow [... read more]ded. The beach was nice, but due to the rough waters, you can not see the bottom. Which is a little unnerving when "things" brush by your leg. :) Selection of food was good. A little bland, but enough choices to keep us happy. Since this was our 1st visit to DR, it's hard to compare. Put it this way, I would go back, but I would try a few other places before I do. Just a note: Obviously this has nothing to do with the resort - for the 7 days - it would rain for 30 min in the morning and the same at night. Not sure if it's due to the mountains surrounding the area - but thought it worth mentioning.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: overall " Great Place "

Beautiful Resort , no major issues . Clean , friendly staff , lots to eat and drink. Beautiful pool and beach . Could have been more variety to choose from at the dinner buffet and some delays when checking in . Great vacation , would recommend.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: stairs

This hotel is not for older people or people with mobility problems .Too many steps . the food was great .Service was wonderful. entertainment was awesome. The dancers were so full of energy .If there weren't so many steps everywhere it would have been wonderful. I was tired out just getting from one place to another .The Sunday night party was great .Lots of food and entertainment.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Beautiful resort......rooms were standard.

We did enjoy our time at the Cofresi Palm. No suprises as I had read a lot of the comments on this resort on Trip Advisor, so had a good idea of what to expect. It is a HUGE resort, no doubt. But transportation to and from both hotels (Cofresi Palm and the Tropical) was well organized and wait times were minimal. Rooms were okay. As this was our first time at a resort, I found that 1 week would have been long enough. We are used to locations where you are not restricted to the resort and can venture outside (city center, etc.) on our own, but it was not the case with this particular location, so we felt a bit confined. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the many ‘A La Carte’ restaurants and the 2 all inclusive buffet restaurants. The food was very good and selection varied. The evening shows were great especialy the Sunday night Welcome party which was ‘AMAZING’. Some hotel employees were great, others no so great. No specifics, but a general observation All in all, no major complaints. We would not go back simply because the resort ‘Lifestyle’ is not our cup of tea. But we also have no regrets in having tried it.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Wonderful Resort

Just got back from a 10 day vacation at Cofresi Palms Beach and Spa Resort. Have little complaints. It's part of the Lifestyles Vacation resorts which treat their members like gold. You can travel by trolly or walk between Tropical reosort and other residence suites. The tropical side is much more formal than Cofresi so we went to their shows at the colesseum and found their buffet better also. Very short walk there. Yes, real donairs, the same as home on the east coast!!! Amazing. They have a welcome party on Sunday nights with live bands, fireworks and more food than you can possible imagine (turkey, chicken, pork, beef, vegs, seafood, amazing dessert bar etc.) A party you don't want to miss! The beach is what you would expect for the Puerta Plata side of the Dominican, not like Punta Cana with white sand. Many pools, always got a chair no matter what time of day it was, never had to wait in line at buffet for food. Only negative would be it is built on a hill with 82 stairs from the beach to the lobby, however, you do not need to climb them, there is a trolly every few minutes to take you any where you want to go. There is a not so pleasant sewer smell around the 200-300 buildings certain times of the day. All staff were very pleasant and very accommodating. Would definitely go back again.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Very nice

We stayed for a week in March , it was a lovely hotel , staff were great very friendly and helpful , food was good to , the hotel needed a few repairs but otherwise was all good ,our stay was very nice

Paradise Playa Dorada: You get what you pay for

Too many locals trying to sell their products on the beach & on site time share. Day trips was another sales pitch every step of the way. Air conditioning broke down twice in 1 week but it was fixed. Had to fight to get 2 room keys as only 1 is allowed. Family of 4 but no connecting rooms given as requested. Rooms were far from each other. Some of the staff at the front desk were not very helpful. Restaurant staff had their own preferred people to serve. 2 restaurants yet 3 a la carte promised.  [... read more]No available chairs at pool nor on beach during the whole time as people reserve them early in the morning. Other issues but enough said.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: quiet resort

Very quiet ...renovations are going on in half the resort ...The rooms are nice that have been renovated. ..not much music and happens through the day except for the beach between 11am- 1pm ...The food is not good it's like being in Cuba ...close to the mall ....for the money you can go somewhere else. ..I wouldn't go back

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing trip

Was an amazing trip if you are looking for a cheaper price. Pool was beautiful and clean, beach was great. We had a room on the ground floor that had lots of bugs, but very spacious. food was average, service was great, friendly staff. All in all i would come again. Thanks for a great trip!!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful Resort

We were a party of 4 - 2 adults and 2 -18 year girls. Had a great time. Grounds very well kept. Hotel clean. Friendly staff. Need to have some local music played around the pool during the day. Food was wonderful. Beach beautiful and clean. Would go back.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Decent place

It was a decent place to stay , food was fine , beds comfy . Lots of walking as the resort is build on a hill , that was fine with me to climb stairs and such but if you have mobility issues it would be a tough go . Beach was small for long walks because it's in a bay . Overall I would not return as it was good but so much out there to explore and it wasn't one of the greatest places I have visited .

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Just ok

This was a last minute trip! Some good and bad points ! Beautiful view and great food ! Service is next to none for someone asking if you want a drink! Rooms being cleaned was terrible! A couple of days our room wasn't even touched ! Lack of water to drink, you had to ask the front desk to get some ! Brazilian restaurant was awesome! Beach was nice and staff was friendly ! Thanks !

Sunscape Puerto Plata: good resort

Very nice beach, very good food, interesting and funny shows every night. A lot activities around swimming pool for adults and kids. Only one complain: rooms need to be up to date (closet very small ). Very nice resort overall.

we booked a trip on line. looking for a trip to dominion republic I come across trip central vacations looked at the trips was available and found a great resort. called up the rep and booked four tickets that night. the service was great!!!!!!!!!!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: What a Vacation!!

We had a great trip. The Junior suite was a very nice room and the VIP beach was fantastic. We were treated like royalty. The buffet food was good but the East Indian food at the Moomtaz restaurant was incredible!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: beautiful resort

very enjoyable resort to visit.The food was first rate with a lot of different choices,the people at the resort were very friendly and helpful.We stayed in a suite which was very nice with good maid service and grounds were kept very clean.Overall very nice vacation with lots to do ,would recommend to anyone to go there for a nice vacation at a reasonable price

This resort is 12 years old and has been renovated recently. Clean grounds with staff attending to them regularly all the time Food selection was ok but would recommend the ala carte resturants Rooms were a bit small compared to other Bahia principe resorts Located in remote part of DR

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing resort

Food was great, so many different places to see, close to airport, clean rooms, helpful staff... the only less than perfect part is that the beach isn't the white sand. No on bothered us on the beach, lots of drink varieties. Loved it, will go again.
