Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Disappointing DREAM
A beautiful resort but, sadly, it has gone way downhill in past few years. Possibly too big and needed more attentive management.
Upon arrival, the hotel presents well. Beautiful well maintained central gardens, bright fun cosmopolitan central areas with bustling bars put this resort at the front of the line. Shortly after arrival it quickly became apparent that there was some staff communication issues as nobody seemed to be able to make decisions. Pretty sure they use facial recognition soft[... read more]ware for entry to buffet and ala cartes, a tad distasteful especially in this climate. Staff were pleasant but most tired and grumpy and couldn’t answer any questions. On a gorgeous stretch of beach near the marina and town makes its location desirable. I know it’s beyond their control, but the beach is now a fraction of the size it used to be due to erosion. It’s also rocky, uneven, weedy and has such a powerful surf even on calm days most ppl had a hard time getting past the first wave, especially children. Limited chaise chairs on ocean fuelled towel wars. Buffet during peak season was sad. Unlabelled, uninteresting, bland, limited quantity and variety, confusing traffic flow and no attention to presentation - overall very unappetizing. The buffet counters were Poorly staffed and they moved the food around daily making it frustrating to find simple foods. They regularly ran out of toast and fruit early in breakfast session. Their over use of seed oils left a bad taste in our mouths. Overall, the entire facility was dirty. Our hallways were never cleaned once. Room service took hours to bring food and they didn’t answer to pick up dishes so animals came into buildings at night and ravaged plates. We’d regularly be woken up by crashing fishing and animal sounds in wee hours. We’d wake up to broken dishes and food squished into stairs and corners which were never cleaned during our stay. Our room, although beautifully laid out, had very scratchy sheets, heavy uncomfortable bedding and rock hard pillows - even the special order pillows off room service we’re terrible. Hot water ran out by end of day. Tv and internet were very spotty, slow and unreliable everywhere in resort. Food was hard to obtain outside of “barf-fet†hours. The 24 hr Coffee shop offered limited foods and served Coffee in small plastic mugs with no take out lids and no ceramic for dining in. A 24 hour snack bar is much is needed. Pool beautiful design, heated - but overrun with kids. Dreams? I think not, more like a nightmare!

The resort was beautiful. Staff was lovely and accommodating. The food was great. Beach wasn't the greatest, too much seaweed and sharp rocks under foot, small beachfront. Amazing pool that runs across the resort.

JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort and Spa: No disappointments
This is a lovely resort, clean and very well maintained.
I enjoyed the way everything was geared toward the visitor, from the friendly, accommodating staff, to the ease of getting what you needed to make your time there pleasurable.
Fabulous beach with weak undertow and pools everywhere you looked.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: good resort!
The main issues that i had with the resort was arriving there, without being informed that it was being closed until further notice on December 20th. The last few days showed a noticeable change in available food at the buffet. We also experienced one disgruntled employee at one of the a la carte restaurants, but this was quickly handled by the management. The vacancy rate at the hotel was high, no doubt due to fact is was closing soon, but this resulted in fantastic service from the staff.
[... read more] Would not recommend the ocean area as it was always red flagged. The pool was great, but we are beach and ocean people.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Great stay at Dream Onyx
The resort was overall great. Plenty of food options and activities to do. The only negative is the pool temperature was very cold. Some days we couldn't even swim because the water was too cold. There are plenty of pools at this resort but all of them were very cold.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Terrible Resort
We did not stay at the Dreams Royal, we were at Dreams Palm Beach, Punta Cana.
This resort fooled us into thinking we were "Preferred Club" when actually everyone was at the same level. The resort itself as far as the grounds go was nice. But the rooms were very dated. This resort is not wheelchair friendly. To call a resort wheelchair friendly one must be in a wheelchair. Your staff needs to be more aware of this. We feel very deceived, by Trip Central. My husband chair which is a small chai[... read more]r would hardly fit the door to our room. The coffee maker did not work in our room first morning, so called room service but they do not serve coffee. I was told to go to CoCo Cafe to get our own coffee. So much for "Preferred Club". 2 of the restaurants were on the second floor. There is no access to the beach, if you are in a wheelchair. The maids did a great job cleaning the rooms, and the resort in general. We did like the food for the most part. The employees worked hard to please everyone.
Had to get the door to our room fixed to get the door open as wide as it would go. Also had to have the toilet fixed twice.
There are no grab bars in the shower, we had to bring a plastic table from outside for him to sit on in the shower.
We had never stayed at a Dreams Resort, so we thought this was going to be so special, but we were very very disappointed. (What a big lie)
I will book from now on directly with the airline, because I have been disappointed beyond what I could have imagined. We spoke to many people there that were in wheelchairs, they had all the same complaints. If there was a ramp to a restaurant or bar there was no way to get through the big heavy glass doors.
This resort is only good for people that can walk on their own.
We feel tricked, deceived, fooled!
We travel quite a bit, so we are not new to this sort of travel.
I do not blame Susan Snider for this, as she can only tell customers what the resort tells her. We'll the resort lied. Also it is common knowledge on the resort that the resort is closing and being sold as of the end of the year. We heard it was being torn down.
Sorry to be so harsh, but our reality was harsh.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Was not DREAMING for Cuban style food
I will start with positive. The staff are amazing. The staff is the only thing that makes this resort good. Especially entertainment team JEAN LUIS and MR WONDERFUL. Also Raul the waiter from the Italian/pizza restaurant is absolutely fabulous! From the entertainment, concierge and servers. Absolutely awesome staff. Emely at concierge was helpful. Thank you Emely. The grounds are beautifully maintained and clean kept and for the most part the rooms are fairly clean. But it ends there.
We cho[... read more]ose this resort due to the excellent reviews and we’re met with major disappointment especially for the astronomical price we paid ($3,000per person CAD for 10 nights for end of November travel) . I don’t understand how this resort has good reviews for food. We have been to so many resorts and dreams royal beach punta cana is 3 star not 5.
I was in disbelief when we arrived the first evening and saw/tasted how terrible the food selection was. I was really hoping it was a 1 night off thing. I was not expecting “Cuban style selection†the lack of variety and taste was disappointing. Especially at breakfast and lunch! Very repetitive every day and lacked selection. Dinner was slightly better since we got to choose from restaurants. But we ended up with undercooked chicken that unfortunately I didn’t see because the sea side restaurant had very dark lighting, which resulted in food poisoning. If you are looking for good food do not book this resort. If you are ok with “Cuban style selection†I would highly recommend coming here
Lastly we did not know we were “preferred club†until the last 3 days of our stay. There is absolutely no difference for preferred club and regular guests.

Came back from our trip very disappointed - thought we were going to a five stars when actually we got a low 3 stars

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: Very good resort
We really enjoyed our time at Dreams PV. I stayed in the Preferred Club section, and I am not sure the upgrade was worthwhile for me. It allows you to enjoy a bar on the second floor (I don't drink) and there are some snacks and foods set out in the lobby all day long. The M& Ms in the room were a nice touch, but I would not pay for the upgrade next time.
The pools were great, and so was the beach. This was a family resort, so lots of kids. If you wanted to use the sister resort right next do[... read more]or (Secrets) you had to pay. You also had to pay to go to the restaurants on the Secrets side. So the two resorts are quite separate, and you are not allowed to just grab a lounge chair on the other side.
We loved the coffee shop! Great coffee served as well as snacks all day long. The service staff were truly great. All in all, I liked the resort. They do try to upsell you a lot. Some restaurants have special areas (eg. the second floor overlooking the ocean) that you can only go to if you buy a bottle of wine. Aside from the many times they tried to upsell us, the resort is great.

JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort and Spa: Perfect way to recharge your batteries
Candice from tripcentral helped book our perfect getaway to Dreams Las Mareas in Costa Rica.
The seclusion and pristine surrounds of the beach, pools, and resort were well worth the comfortable 1hr drive from the airport.
The resort provided so many activities for every taste, and such a wide variety of fine-dining menus and restaurants that 7 nights was not enough for us to try everything. (Terry’s nature tour should definitely be on everyone’s bucket list!)
From booking through C[... read more]andice at Trip Central to the attention to detail by all the staff at the resort, our experience with customer service was outstanding.

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: overcrowded with Weekend guests
We have been to DR 13 times, various resorts throughout including Dreams Palm beach. We booked Dreams Punta Cana for a new experience and please trust me, do not book this resort! This resort is closing, overall the resort was ok the food was below sub par HOWEVER they allow weekend guests onto the resort. The resort was over capacitated Thursday to Sunday night. They do not have enough staff or the proper facility to accommodate them. On top of that they brought in guests from other resorts tha[... read more]t had to be moved from other hotels because of the hurricane damage. THEY were not the problem nor enough of them to cause the issues, it was the weekend guests!!!
See other points below;
Buffet Breakfast- waited everyday about 20 minutes or more in line to get eggs, toast no problem, butter was always gone, no bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, the only meat was a thick cut bologne sausage unless you sign up for preferred club. Overall same menu every day. Weekends we could not find a table to sit down at, way overcrowded and understaffed, weekend guests take over the tables in large groups.
Buffet Lunch- same menu every day, bbq chicken wing, pork chop and grouper again very crowded and understaffed
Buffet Dinner- same experience as lunch.
A la carte Restaurants were ok- understaffed and every single night something was forgot, rolls, starter, dessert and the menu given did not match the QR menu, very disappointing and blah.
Pools- weekend guests took over, lobby, bar, pools and buffet
Service- weekend guests took over and they are very forward and had preferential service because they could speak the language and were loud when ordering or comfortable because they were in large groups. Harassing comments were made to my wife and her friend to the point were they felt uncomfortable in the pool and going up to the bar. We like to have a beer on the balcony before dinner, the bar fridge not stocked 5 out of 7 days despite several calls.
Hurricane Fiona did strike and we realize it would affect things overall, but nothing was given to guests to make up for cancelled shows, closed restaurants, closed bars, no room service etc. Many guest did not even have water. What they could have done was had extra bottles of water, snacks, towels, for guests confined to their rooms during the hurricane. After the storm staff did an excellent job cleaning up and getting the resort back in shape. Many guests pitched in squeegeeing out their rooms, hallways, and a group of about 20 of us pitched in to move palm leaves, trees, shingles to help out. Staff was lower as many did were home attending to their own families/houses and totally understandable. Note; people we met during the vacation were there the week before the hurricane and had the same issues, staffing shortages and disappointment with weekend guests.
Do not book this resort, even for a lower price, it is just not worth it. Ignore the standard manager feedback comments, they did not try to make things better, the staff on hand did work hard but Dreams put money in their pockets by renting out to weekend guests and not bringing on enough staff to accommodate them or extending buffet hours, opening the other bars on the resort or extending the hours of the bars throughout the resort that closed early. Very disappointing Dreams and never will I book with you again, even at your other resorts. Closing or not you owe your guests a huge apology and some type of reimbursement and not sure how long this decline in service has been going on.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Dream Dominicus - La Romana DR
The Dreams Dominicus is a very nice and well maintained property. Our room was really nice. We had room 64-103, which included our own pool. The beach was pretty good but certianly had some rocks under the water and you tend to find them the hard way...by walking into them. I really think Dreams should tell people about them. Otherwise the beach was great but a small beach front..
We upgraded to the preferred club as that is the only area that has palapas, however the cabana beds are at the fro[... read more]nt row so it does block the view of the ocean.
The food and restaurant were very good. Service was also very good.
The main issue we did not like at all was the upselling they do...
1. They really tried hard to get us to sit in on a 90 minute chat about timeshares. We actually had to get angry with a girl and her supervisor as they were pushing really hard. Finally I had a enough and told them to leave us alone
2. At some of the restaurants your given a "wine list" to purchase wine and they don't really explain there is also house wine available...
3. They constant ask you if you want a massage or romantic dinner.
I think they need to stop doing this.
So overall, we had a nice vacation.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: 1st Time at this Resort
We very much enjoyed staying at Dreams Onyx Punta Cana.
One of the reasons we chose the this resort is the fact of the on site water slides and lazy river. We are aware that seaweed can be a big problem in the ocean and on the beach, the ocean and beach were wonderful during our stay. We prefer the beach and ocean, it was nice to have other water activities to fall back on and we did spend some afternoons at the splash park.
One of the other reasons we chose Dreams Onyx is that as adults,[... read more] we can use all the restaurants and facilities at the neighboring resort, Breathless Punta Cana.
We discovered we enjoyed Dreams Onyx more than Breathless. We spent most of our time at Dreams Onyx, we would definitely return again in the future.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort!
Amazing resort! Staff was very professional and friendly. This was our first time at this resort and I must say, I was impressed. Rooms were nice and spacious, well-kept and the bed turn-down service at night was a nice touch!
