Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Sick upon arriving home.

This resort is old and ugly, esp the lobby and the NON royal service section. Rooms are like dark dungeons in the non Royal Service section. Our first room did not have hot water or a working toilet, and the front desk would not help us until we contacted Trip Central and the Sunwing Rep and threatened to sue. They upgraded us to Royal Service which was not much better. No water pressure, and luke warm water at best. Not enough towels in the room, and maid would not change towels to clean  [... read more]ones when they were clearly dirty, I have never encountered this on any all inclusive in cuba or otherwise. Please note we tipped the maid $3 per day plus $10 in give aways DAILY. WE TIPPED VERY WELL and GAVE A LOT OF BRAND NEW GIFTS. So clearly this is not an incentive to change your dirty towels. There was not enough beach towels to exchange on a daily basis. Further, no beach towel service exchange at Royal Service which is closer to the beach and far from the other part of resort where you had to exchange towels. So much for royal service ... I would like to mention the butler service is pathetic and it should be removed and not mentioned as it is a lie, we never saw our butler not once. They further gave us a courtesy room that we booked in advance to freshen up before our flight after an excursion and the room had NO towels... again NOT ENOUGH CLEAN TOWELS. so what's the point? This sums up how this resort works, nothing sticks together. Food was awful and tasteless, its like being on a diabetic diet all week... i would compare the food to hospital food Very boring resort as well and the beach was nice, but not nearly as nice as cayo coco or cayo santa maria. Overall I found this resort to do the bare minimum. They did not have two beds for me and my friend when we arrived although its what we paid for..... and lied the resort was full and shoved us at night after all day traveling in a one bed room with no hot water OR working toilet. I do not recommend this resort, and quite frankly i don't think others are much better. Beach was windy. On top of everything we are both very sick upon arriving home although we did leave the resort for excursions. The only good thing is you never had to reserve a sun chair at pool or beach. Overall a hard no, and overall VARADERO is a hard no for beach go to cayo coco where people are more friendly, ,its cheaper, and beaches are nicer. .... Cuba has really gone downhill since I last visited in 2014. Further, the resort lacked basic hygiene in bed sheets, towels, cups, plates were all very dirty. I will not recommend this resort to anyone and I will not be coming back.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: Great resort!

Beth suggested the Melia Peninsula and it was a great hotel. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It was a quiet resort, which was perfect for us. The food was good; we had no problem eating more than we should have - the fresh made pasta and omelettes were a hit. The beach and pool were lovely, and we had no trouble getting a lounger (didn't have to race down early to get a spot). Paradisus Rio De Oro: Definitely will return!

We are seniors returning from a pleasant & relaxing vacation, our first stay here. Friendly & efficient staff, plenty of food choices to satisfy, spacious & clean but older corner Junior suite room, comfortable bed & shuttle service available, plenty of sun & shady areas around pool for sitting, beautiful beach to swim or walk, beautiful grounds for walking. Tryp Cayo Coco: Melia Jardines del Rey

Since Tryp needed to close to repair air conditioning issues, we ended up at Melia Jardines del Rey. The bright light there is the Air Transat rep, Yamin. She was fantastic, solving SO many problems and quickly. She deserves a raise and a commendation. The hotel staff are lovely, fun, and welcoming, typical of Cuban hospitality. Cuba may have issues but regardless of their problems, they are friendly, warm and decent human beings, who work long hours, six days a week. Paradisus Rio De Oro: Loved Our Stay!

We approached our trip with an open mind, considering the resort's age and the ongoing food shortages Cuba has been facing. Let me tell you, it exceeded all expectations. While the resort is older, it’s impeccably maintained, and the lush, beautiful grounds are a real highlight. Its smaller size, compared to most resorts, only adds to its charm—by the end of the week, it feels like everyone knows each other. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and welcoming. The oceanfront restaurant offered the most amazing fish & chips, paired with a view that you truly need to see to appreciate. The beach also provided fantastic snorkeling opportunities. A fun tip is to fill an empty water bottle with small pieces of bread to feed the fish—they absolutely love it! Without a doubt, we would return to this stunning resort. Melia Las Americas: A Diamond in the Rough Resort!!!

Whether you're an avid golfer or not, this resort is a guaranteed great vacation in Varadero, Cuba! We had a wide variety of food items to choose from everyday and lots of beverages to wash it all down! There were lots of activities to choose from and great quality entertainment on most days. The service is pretty good and the staff are all very friendly! And of course - The Beaches are Awesome! Can't wait to go backl

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful Beach

The resort is beautiful but starting to look run down. They used to get a lot of rewards but none in the last 8 years. There is a reason for this. The entertainment was 5/10 and ridiculous that they had prepubescent looking girls entertaining one evening. It actually made me sick. The workers have become passive and complacent. This is not surprising given the average wage is $20 AMERICAN per month. Their preference for American money was no less than insulting. When we tried to tip in CANADIAN dollars, because 75% of tourists in Cuba are CANADIAN, 4/5 workers asked if we had AMERICAN dollars. Money from the country that has imposed an embargo on you. Really? I admit that I'm a picky eater but did find something edible at each meal. Of course I washed it down with some very good beer and rum. (Best part of each meal.) The 24 hours snack bar has better service and food than the buffet. The day trip to the nearest town is A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME! Don't do it. (Only $5 AMERICAN per person that pays for the bus going to that shitty town full of underfed horses and men wearing cowboy shoes and hats.) Another "package" or excursion offered is a VIP service on your last day with a "guided tour" in the city of Holguin, dinner at the top of the city (no choices, you get what they cook) and drop off at the airport while you wait in the VIP lounge. $100 (AMERICAN of course) per person. Holguin is full of beggars and the guided tour lasted 5 minutes. You are better off staying at the hotel that day and enjoying the pool or beach. I would only recommend this resort if all you're looking for is a good beach and decent pool and lots of alcohol. I will not go back to Cuba until their government works out better importing and exporting deals with their allies and there is a reformation of their government policies. Good luck to all the people of Cuba. The sun is beautiful, but you can't eat sunshine. They need more sustenance and help.

Melia Las Antillas: Relaxing , good food

Some rooms not used , hotel was not at full capacity. Food was plentiful and drinks were good . Staff is friendly and rooms were clean . We did move from the first room as it was very run down and musty but second room was good

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Second Time At This Resort

There is really nothing that stands out as negative. I cannot say enough about the hotel staff. We are going back next winter for sure. Food is hugely improved over last year. I am told they are buying more produce from Mexico and Colombia. There was even asparagus and broccoli some nights. If they can build on this then that would be great. It would be helpful if they could point out gluten free and dairy free options in the buffet but there is always someone to ask. Melia Costa Rey: Absolutely beautiful resort compliment with fantastic beach location!

Hotel was very well kept thru out and very clean and beautifully relax decorated all around. All hotel personnels are exceptionally friendly and polite. All à la carte was super and presented with delightful dishes from start to finish. Nightly entertainment was well organized and all performances were awesome and nearly perfected.

Melia Cayo Coco: The Six Canadian Ladies

I strongly encourage all people wanting to go to Cuba to stay in Melia Cayo Coco as it has everything you want & more. Beautiful beaches, very clean & friendly staff, lots to do, a very large buffet of everything you can imagine with a main lounge & large entertainment bar beside. Lots of meat, fish, yummy desserts, fresh vegetables & fruit. They’re à la cart, restaurants International, a beach restaurant & Cuban. Bar on the beach, many games to take part in & dance classes if you want a little  [... read more]exercise. Also there’s a fitness Centre beautiful large pool. We went on one of the excursions as well & it gave us a new appreciation of the Cuban people. I will go every time to this wonderful place.

Melia Las Dunas: The worst

We did not get to go to this resort as sunwing cancelled our entire trip. We booked through trip central and when asked for help to get compensated for the 8hr delay. Trip Central replied “oh dear Iam sorry, Nothing we can do” contacted Sunwing and they said “I had to go through trip central”. Didn’t get anywhere, will not booked through Trip Centeal again!!

Sol Caribe Beach: 10/10 Resort!

Amazing resort. Had everything we needed and wanted. Had amazing staff that were friendly and welcoming and very helpful with any mixups Sunwing send our way! Resort was big enough that our room felt separate from the other people yet close enough to everything to not feel excluded. The beach way amazing and entertainment on the beach as well as all over the resort was amazing. I'm running out of synonyms for "amazing" because it was awesome

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Paradise Golden River

3rd time at this resort. Did not disappoint. Beautiful staff from Anne and Marie checking us in exchanges our room to avoid excessive sun in room. Maryluz our Maid Luis, Edward. Change Marisol and all Bar tenders Elizabeth, yennleydis Marie and rest of Buffet Staff. Rollando for the best burger and chicken fajitas on my Gluten Free breads Monriel at customer service. Sol Cayo Coco: Love this resort

Our room wasn't quite done yet. Everyone was friendly and polite. We were disappointed that the toaster was broke and not fixed with in our 2 week holiday. The upgraded areas were fantastic. The disco, the outside concert was covered and amazing. However the timing of our flight was very difficult for many people and may prevent us coming back which would break our hearts. Melia Las Americas: Incredible experience

After a couple of bad experiences in Cuba, I finally had the pleasure to enjoy one of my best holidays. Everything was above my expectations. Food, entertainment, personal… all very good. The beach was clean and activities were great. Wide variety of drinks. Golf was good as well.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Really nice

Resort is designed in a very aesthetically pleasing and convenient manner. Employees were very friendly. Amenities were good, I especially enjoyed the pool table. The buffet food was okay, but the restaurants were better. Altogether, I would definitely recommend.

Melia Varadero: Wonderful place

We just returned from a great week at this property. This is our 6th trip to Cuba and first since COVID. The property is compact, well kept and on a beautiful beach. We upgraded to the Level and enjoyed room service for breakfast each morning and our teens enjoyed it late at night. The Level allowed us to eat at the a la cartes nightly which was a welcome treat from the more limited buffet. The service was always wonderful and we felt so welcomed. Activities were very limited but we weren’t there for the nightlife. We plan to return!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Amazing Resort with Amazing Staff

This is our 2nd trip to the Melia and it didn’t disappoint. The staff here are beyond amazing and always go above and beyond to make your trip the best it can be. The resort grounds are always well kept and beautiful. Our room was spacious and clean, yes the toilets would be my only complaint here, but that is what it is and expected. It does seem to be the same food over and over yes but this is Cuba and none of us starved. There are a-lot of rude people unfortunately that will grab all the bacon and all the bread etc, I often wonder if they eat all that bacon and bread at home in one sitting or they just assume this is all inclusive and free for all and who cares about everyone else. Can’t let those kinds of people ruin your vacation. If you want specific food I would recommend just bringing it with you and problem solved. IE. bagels, snacks, cereal bars, ketchup, spices, hot sauce etc. The beach was definitely more rocky this time but if you walk a few feet down to the right, there is a beautiful sandy part that you can walk way out and it’s stunning. The entertainment staff are Phenomenal here and will always get you as involved as you want, the pool bar staff again absolutely amazing. The pizza snack bar delicious!! The 24 HR snack bar does its job. Great staff there as well. Your vacation will be what you make of it and yes Cuba suffers with getting items delivered on a regular basis and odds are you will run of out something but I am pretty sure it will not be life or death and you will survive. You’re on vacation and away from the crappy weather and hustle and bustle of everyday life so just enjoy it !! You will never visit a country more welcoming than Cuba or with more friendly people. I have travelled to different countries and never get the same love as you do in Cuba. I see so many bad reviews and I want to shake these people and tell them how entitled they actually sound but it’s a waste of time and energy. Trust me if you go to this resort you will have one of the best vacations and meet some really amazing people that make this resort what it is. Lastly, I want to give a huge shout out to our travel agent Louise Enden who is absolutely the best. She will answer all your questions, she will give you the best advice on what is best for you. She will be with you from the moment you book till the moment you are home. She is always a phone call away if you need her for anything while on vacation. I have booked with Louise many times and she never disappoints. Thank you Louise for always being the best travel agent to us.

Very nice resort looks like a campsite a lot green three and beautiful flowers kept very clean the people are very friendly the beach is clean but a little rocky over all very good the only thing was the air line Sunwing they delayed the flight three times
