A nice resort, I would go back.

The grounds were well kept. Most of the people were very friendly, the staff were helpful. When we gave our maid some Canadian and personal items, she was very grateful and gave us a hug. Only problem we had was with our original room. The lights kept going out and there was a lot of water leaking from under the toilet. The staff were quick to respond, but couldn't fix the water leak right away. I asked for another room and I was assured that I could get one the next morning after some of the gu [... read more]ests left. This happened and we were happy with our new room. The new room was an updated one and also had a walk in shower, which worked better for me. As Cuba is not known for their food, we found it not too bad. It was tasty, but repetitious at the buffet. Lots of choice though. We had two nights of reservations for other restaurants and the food was quite good. The beach was amazing.... just gorgeous. The pool area was beautiful with afternoon activities. The nightly entertainment was good. All in all, we really liked the resort. Lots of big trees. Each room had a balcony. The rooms were set back in behind the main building, so none of the rooms had a bad view (I notice some other resorts had balconies over looking the driveway in).

Nice weekend getaway

The rooms were fine, only one bottle of water for the 3 days. Towels were on a shortage. No bathroom at the beach and the bar was only open 1230 to 3. Bathroom were up at the pool which never had toliet paper.

Good value for the price

We loved this resort. The food was better than any other resort we've been to. Rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Staff was friendly and quite helpful. Excellent value for the amount we paid for it.

Not a cuba 4 star

I have been to cuba many times. This resort is not a 4 star cuban resort. It is a 3 at best. The rooms were ok. Staff was friendly. But the food was the exact same all week. You can only make calls at the front desk. No Internet available. You get one bottle of water for the whole week. The beach was beautiful grounds of the resort very basic. I was disappointed. We don't expect much when we go to cuba but if you are looking for a 4 or 5 star by cuban standards.....this isn't.

Have had better.

The price was cheap so I did not expect much. Beer was cold. Bar device at the pool was great. Lobby bar service was poor. Buffet was standard for cuba. Room was sub par. Musty smelling. Patio door did not lock. Mould on the shower curtain. I would not return here. Had a nice time though. Beach buffet was great.

Pleasant Week

The room son this resort left much to be desired. I can understand that it is difficult to get parts in Cuba in order to do repairs, but I don't accept blankets that need laundering and mould that could be cleaned up. However, although the room was basic and the food bland - again, I don't accept rare pork or chicken as acceptable; nor running out of dishes regularly - the beach was spectacular and that was what we went to enjoy. We'd go back fro sure, but with lower expectations so that we didn't have a day or so of second guessing our choice. It was very nice that this was a small resort, so you felt like you knew staff and guests.

Terrible resort hospitality and food

This resort was the worst. From the physical features to hospitality and unsanitary eating conditions as well as poor food. The resort itself, says they have a pool bar, does not mention it has been closed for two years, no washrooms at the beach bar/restaurant, closest washrooms was at the non poolbar, pool bar, which all toilets out of order but one. T [... read more]he only other washrooms were in the front lobby, washroom doors were so short you can make eye contact with others while in the stall. Best choice would be to go to your room for the washroom. The front desk was useless, there's a sign that indicates 24 hour currancy exchange, and when you want to make an exchange you'll be told to come back later, many more ignorance with the front desk attendants full of attitude. No matter what you need help with they are not willing to help. Once your checked in, that is all. We were given a room with two beds instead of one, so my spouse and I could not sleep together. We pushed the beds together, but who wants to sleep on the crack? When we asked if we could have a room with a king bed we were constantly told to come back the next day. There was not enough garbage bins, and the few they had were always full. There were a few good bartenders, but these were very slim. Some would just completely ignore you. The drinks were gross, they put do much alcohol in its disgusting. The buffet was the worst, only good thing was crepes for breakfast, and the tuna slop for lunch and dinner. Not only did the food suck, but there were birds flying all around, with nests in the vents on the ceiling. I saw plastic strips and garbage from these nests fall onto the tables, unhygienic. The BBQ restaurant by the beach had cats hounding you while you ate. We tried the Italian a la carte which was disgustingly disappointing, but also had a cat constantly trying to get onto out table, gross. The beach was absolutely beautifully amazing, but such a hassle as all the outside sales people harassed you non stop. It was awefully annoying and makes you want to leave to only good part there. Seriously. It was brutal. The old cars are a real sight to see. But those are all over Cuba. I would not EVER go back there, not if it was free, nor if someone paid me. This resort should not be recommended. In conclusion, we absolutely hated this resort, and this vacation was nothing but a waste of money. Cuba is a beautiful country, but based on this bad experience we will not be retiring to cuba. Extremely disappointed Hanzel.

Love the entertainment

Entertainment was wonderful, people were friendly. Washrooms needed to be cleaned more regular and paper provided. Weather was not so nice however staff really tried to keep everyone happy and positive. Love the dance lessons.....staff made all feel welcome.

Falls short in all categories

After reading mixed reviews of this resort;I thought I would see for myself.My wife and I stayed from Jan9/15 -Jan16/15.Everyrhing was smooth until we checked in to the resort.The first room was dreary and smellled like fish. It was obviously in need of a makeover.After much complaining we settled on the second room and had to join two single beds together and tried to make the best out of a bad situation.It seemed that every request of the staff there seemed to be too much;having to fight for e [... read more]ven a roll of toilet paper for the room.The food was better than average for Cuba;but still not much variety.We have travelled before to Cuba so know what to expect from all different rated resorts.I have to say that this resort was the worst I have experienced in Cuba(regardless of the star rating) Staff appeared disinterested in serving even after tipping and seemed to prefer to sociallize amongst themselves and the guests were treated as an inconvenience.I have stayed in better 3 star hotels in Cuba.Very disappointing to pay for a 4 star and get a 2 star at best.The rooms were clean and the beach was beautiful...that is the positive of the holiday.

Wonderful Customer service

The layout of the resort was beautiful. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The food was great, provided you got there early while selection was still ample. The coffee from the machine wasn't great, but when is coffee from a dispenser ever good? The cappuccinos from the bar were excellent though. I loved how close the beach was to my room. Over all a very good experience. I'll definitely go back.

Great time!

First trip to Cuba and would definitly go back! We had a great time! Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was ok - lots of variety and we all found something to eat! Snack bar by pool was good! Rooms were comfortable. Daily activities, Nightly shows and entertainment staff were excellent!

Average Resort

This resort was clean needs some TLC! They where painting a bridge over the pool without anything underneath and all the extra paint got into the pool therefore getting paint on the swimmers, so we didn't swim for the rest of the trip. Ran out of ice at the pool bar everyday by noon, ran out of beer first night there. Some staff was very friendly and some not so. I left gifts everyday for the maids but never once received a thank-you.

Great beach

Resort was older but exactly what I expected, price was right!! Food was good and employees were very nice, especially the ones working the beach. Drinks were ok. Public bathrooms should have been kept up more often.

Hotel is aged

the hotel was aged, the rooms were ok standard. The service was very slow to get anything. We waited 2 days to get a towel for the pool/ beach. The walls in the hotel needs painting, the tiles missing on the floors in the hallways. The food was bad most of the time cold.

Average

Resort was clean and staff was very friendly. Food was absolutely TERRIBLE. It was mostly the same thing every day in the buffet and a lot of it was disgusting. They could try to have more of a variety and work on using spices to liven up their food. Nightly entertainment was just okay. The A La Cartes were awful. Same food as the buffet. Pool was clean, no swim up bar. Bartenders serve people holding tips in their hand before you, even if you're standing there for 15 minutes waiting for a drink [... read more]. There was a lot of bugs, everyone at the resort was full of bites all down their legs, maybe because of the time of year, or its bed bugs. I was covered in 33 bites before I went home. Rooms were spacious and nice.

NICE RESORT

GROUNDS WERE WELL KEPT, POOL WAS CLEAN , ROOM WAS DECENT , FOOD WAS OK.THE WORKERS WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. ENTERTAINMENT WAS ALLRIGHT. I WOULD GO BACK TO THIS RESORT IF THE OPPERTUNITY AROSE. I DONT KNOW IF ITS A FOUR STAR BUT PROBABLY 3 STARS FOR SURE.

Good Resort

Let me start by saying, your going to Cuba. If you expect the Ritz your going to be disappointed. The resort is laid out great, it's clean and the staff is friendly. The doors to the rooms have swelled and are hard to open but with the humidity you expect some malfunctions. The food was good for Cuba, I have had better in Cuba but I'm not too picky so I always found something to eat. The drink though, I was disappointed with them. They don't get creative at all, they make basic drinks and that i [... read more]s it. the orange juice was freshly squeezed but was watered down for most of the trip, on the second last day it finally tasted good enough to be able to drink.

Nice inexpensive resort

Entertainment is excellent. Beach is outstanding and the people are helpful, friendly and clean. For the price this resort is offered one can not go wrong. We were at this resort before and the treatment for repeat visitors is excellent. Just like the other times we visited we were not disappointed. I could not think of anything negative to say about the resort.

Beautiful area, but outdated

Although the staff was very kind, this resort is somewhat outdated. The beds are awful, very hard and the pillows were gross. We had 2 children with us who wanted to watch some TV and unfortunately only 2 stations were English speaking. My children did not like the food as well.

Excellent time. and fun

We enjoyed so much, that I cant wait to go back, I really recommended to everyone to go and have fun at the beach, pool , entertaiment team, so many thinga to do, tennis, games , night time, our kids loved it
