Spectacular Resort

This resort was simply amazing. The grounds and rooms are beautifully kept and you want for nothing, except more time to be there. The food is wonderful, no need to book the speciality restaurants as the buffet provides a wonderful dining experience. They do roll up the sidewalks around 11pm, but there are plenty of nightlife spots on the sister resorts. The pools are amazing as is the beach. Service, well what can I say, well above expectations. Worth every penny.

Nice resort

Very large resort and well kept. Grounds are lovely and rooms clean. Hotel was very accommodating changing our room as we were not happy with the first, which we appreciated. . Buffet is huge and food very fresh we were impressed . Restaurants were good except for French. Don't book this one it is not good. As a whole I would recommend this if you like large resorts, but be prepared for very slow service. Pools were nice but we did find the beach disappointing from what we're used to in Cuba and [... read more] Dominican.

Great Resort

This resort exceeded expectations in all areas. Service was excellent throughout the resort and always with a smile. The food was varied and many choices with buffet selections changing daily. Quality of food and drinks was very good and included international liquor. Accommodations could use a renovation as they are looking a bit dated and tired. Housekeeping service was average with turn down service provided only one night of the seven we stayed. Beach was very nice and clean and the drink se [... read more]rvice was a nice bonus. The water at the beach was too shallow caused by the man-made reefs, however without the reefs the ocean is much too rough to swim in safely. Overall, would highly recommend the property. You will not be disappointed.

Our first time

Since it was a mother and daughter trip we wanted no surprises. After looking for several weeks we decided on the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal. It was the best week we could have hoped for. Everything was perfect and the staff (which make or break the experience) was amazing. There are so many resorts to choose from and its really hard to decide especially if your new to the all inclusive vacations. You won't be disappointed.

A little piece of paradise

Everything was wonderful. Clean, staff was super friendly and helpful. Everyone genuinely care to make your vacation as memorable as they can. You can tell they truly enjoy their jobs. I will be going back to this resort.

Amazing

been there our 5th time and still would go back. Love the enclosed swimming area. The workers were pretty noisy at 5 in the morning while setting up the infinity pool. Alot of workers on their cell phones. The snack bar is not what it use to be and if you leave early in the morning for a flight......continental is at the entertainment stage and not at the snack bar.

Beautiful Resort!

We had a wonderful time. The resort was very well maintained , staff was very helpful and super friendly. The only negitve would be the rooms. They were clean but a bit outdated .This is a place we won't hesitate to come back to!!

Average family vacation

I found the resort clean it has everything you would want however for me it was too large and I didn't find the rooms very special. Food was decent but nothing special there was always something to eat! Beach was clean and nice you could walk in one direction for quite a way. It is a long journey from the airport do you have to be prepared for that.

Wonderful stay!

April 10-17 - The resort was immaculate and the staff were very friendly and hard working. The food in the buffet and a la carte's was very good, lots of variety. It was nice to be able to visit the other resorts and was easy to do with the transportation provided. The Saturday night beach party (or should I say foam party) was a blast - lots to do on the beach if you are interested and no problem getting a chair. Beautiful Resort

This resort was very well maintained. The grounds were neatly manicured daily. the pools were clean. Our room was beautiful , clean and mini bar well stocked. the food at buffet & snack bar was fresh & tasty. Only complaint would be no ice machines, we had to use concierge service.

Amazing resort

The resort was way more than expected it was clean and well maintained. The staff were the greatest. All amenities absolutely amazing. Would recommend to anyone going there. My husband was totally amazed at how beautiful it was

Nice resort

The grounds were beautiful and food was great. The restaurants were excellent. The service was very good.The downsides were swimming/snorkeling area was very small. Outside the barriers it was too rough and rocky to swim.

Nice resort!

The food is great food at the buffet but there are limited choices at the beach buffet. Nice and clean room. The air conditioning was a little beat noisy but we get used. The pool is amassing! The service is excellent.

Fantastic Resort!

Keeping this short: Grounds: Extremely well kept ... especially for such a large footprint. Rooms: Adequate size ... not huge, but more than adequate. Staff: Great staff, always happy, smiling and willing to assist. (A bit slow to remove wares and get drinks during dinner, but nothing to really be upset about) Beach: Shallow, Very calm (due to breakwaters), Lots of fish to see/feed. It's not really that long of a walk. It looks much bigger on the map than it really was.

Great Resort

Food was very good, the resort is very well maintained, staff bend backward to accomidate your every request. It is a big resort but the trolley system works well and I would not let the size deter you. The golf course was excellent. Just a great relaxing week. We will be returning

Amazing resort but with Management issues

The hotel was awesome, immaculate grounds, pools, food, activities etc- all what a 5 STAR resort should be. However, we experienced some problems that took away from the perfect resort experience. We could not get into our room until several hours past the check in time and entered a moldy, musty smelling room that took several hours to air out, the rooms were not cleaned daily until late afternoon,after 4:00, we had a leak in our ceiling,no hot water for 2 days, the mini fridge did not work for [... read more] 5 days, and our dinner reservations were incorrect on 3 occasions. We traveled with another couple and they experienced similar problems, so affecting us as well. The staff were great,but management to take care of these issues were not satisfactorily effective in addressing the problems or providing sufficient resolve to our complaints. Its hard to know whether our experience was an anomaly or whether other guests aside from our travel companions,had problems too. If an anomaly, I would still recommend this resort,if not,I am afraid it would be difficult to do so.If the problems we experienced were not in play,it would have been the best vacation ever. So very conflicted.

Beautiful Vacation with some issues

This was our 9th all inclusive and second Bahia, (first was the Tulum in 2004). The visuals, beautiful. The grounds were impeccable, clean, no garbage anywhere. Smoking only allowed outside with ash trays everywhere. Our room 6621 was a corner third floor next to the infinity pool looking directly on the beach and third lagoon. An amazingly comfortable king bed with four pillows. Though we had a butler we only used him once. The room had a screen door, so no bugs , we slept to the sound of waves [... read more] every night. Our maid was a sweetie who tried hard to communicate. She was very efficient and helped when we had room issues. The bathroom had shampoo, soaps, a razor, comb, shower gel etc. replaced daily. The fridge was supposed to be restocked daily but was not. Cases of water were placed on the stairs daily so we helped ourselves. We ate at a few A-La-Carts, but found the food at the buffets so plentiful and tasty, that we preferred the more laid back atmosphere. Also they changed up their theme each night. Canada night featured beaver Tails. There was a main buffet but also a 24 hour beach bar and next to the infinity pool had a buffet/ A-La-Cart where we ate most breakfasts and some lunches. You were always met by a smiling maître de and hand sanitizer. A nice touch. We did venture to the other three resorts to eat and visit, but decided for our tastes the Akumal was the best choice. The 3/4 pools were warm, shallow with plenty of shade and loungers, however the best ones were snagged before 7:00AM. Same went for the beach. There was an adults only section, but we choose to mingle. I was again impressed with how clean the resort was including the beach. The lagoons were well protected by both whales and fish netting. Unfortunately the life guards had their hand full with patrons swimming outside the ropes in the strong currents. Red flag every day. Bar service was excellent from the bar tenders to the waitresses at all the bars including the beaches. We did feel sometimes that they were a little understaffed for the volume of people and often our servers had line-ups and only one working. This also happened a few nights at the buffet. This leads into our issues. We believe our building had just had renovations and was opened before being vetted for problems. Our pickup at the airport excellent. Arrived at 12:30 PM for a 3:00PM check-in. We were immediately told 3:30. Then 4:00 PM, 4:30, 5:00. We watched our maid finish setting up at 5:30. Our friends next door got into their room at 5:00 PM. Over the ten days we made two calls to have our screen door repaired. Would not close. Finally removed fixed and replaced. Fridge not working. Never did get really cold. No hot water for showers. Fixed. No restocking of fridge even after many phone calls. Two days in a row our room was not cleaned until 4:30 or 5:00. Hard to get ready for early dinner reservations. Maid could not access room with her key. We let her in. Thought that odd until the next day our keys stopped working. Maid called service. They got in by going through friends room over balcony. Eventually they replaced the whole lock. Unfortunately when we went to the lobby to have our keys reprogramed, they did not do the same for the maid and maintenance department. Two more days the maid waited for us to let her in. Maybe this was the reason our fridge was never restocked. The front desk did not believe that their people could not access our room until we had many conversations with management. Finally on our second to last night we came home to a large puddle of water on the floor and a skid across the floor. The next morning it was eventually repaired after we demanded a manager come to our room. We were told they were not on site before 9:30 in the morning. He appeared at 10:00. We then had a meeting on the beach that morning with Paola, senior management where she addressed many of our concerns, including arranging for an A0-La-Cart dinner that night with complementary wine to replace a dinner we missed because they scheduled it wrong. Understand that the maid and maintenance personal were fantastic. We felt it was a breakdown in communication between the levels of management that caused so many issues. We understand that these massive complexes have issues and we also expect things to happen. Not just all to us. Was this an anomaly? I hope so, as we would still and have recommended this resort to friends.

Amazing stay

The room was amazing, beds super comfortable with great a/c that felt good after a day at the beach. Over all clean and proper resort, was not disapointed! Beach was well kept and close to rooms, the landscaping was spectacular

The beaches are outstanding...best I have seen. Service is very attentive and friendly. Food is good and the two specialty restaurants we went to (Italian and Brazilian) were outstanding. It is hard to book the restaurants, process is a bit cumbersome and they tend to be fully booked...so perhaps book ahead if possible. Rooms were excellent.

Beautiful Resort

The resort is really beautiful but way too big for just strolling around. We were there for a week and never did find our way to walk to the hotel lobby from our villa. The service and food were excellent. We didn't bother with the shows so can't comment on them. We had an oceanview room which although the view was beautiful, the room (especially the bed) was always damp. This was very uncomfortable.
