Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Dreams Dominicus - Romana - Great place

Hotel and amenities were great. Nice rooms with modern touch. Amazing food, nice beach and pools. Restaurants didn't require reservation which was unusual before trying it, but it worked and there was little to no wait time and no limits. Overall 9 out of 10.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Disappointingly NOT a 5 star!

My wife and I have had the good fortune to vacation extensively throughout the Caribbean. We've stayed at 3 stars to 5 stars and I would have to categorize Be Live Collection Canoa as a 4 star, and not a 5 star as their website suggests. We attended the resort the week of Feb. 15th, 2019. I'll comment on the pros and the cons and let you form your own conclusion. Pros We found the staff to be friendly and courteous, the wifi was excellent throughout the entire property, the washrooms throu [... read more]ghout the resort were clean and well stocked, our room was well maintained, the entertainment was good, the beach is beautiful, plenty of lounge chairs and shade, but I'll comment more on the beach below, resort was overall well kept, short drive from/to the airport...sounds good so far. Cons The food in the buffets was disappointing! Orange juice consisted of 'Tang' powdered orange juice, eggs were either omelettes or fried, no boiled, or otherwise, syrup dish for the pancakes/waffles CONSTANTLY went empty - no one replacing it, people left waiting, two types of cereal...Fruit Loops and Raisin Bran, milk containers CONSISTENTLY empty - no one replacing them, people left waiting (lots of almond milk though)....they could use a buffet staff member keeping track of what is running low/empty and see that it gets replaced, food was REPETITIVE - pool area buffet especially, you could have broccoli, potatoes and cauliflower for supper and see it again for breakfast, there are more kinds of pasta that could be presented throughout the week than spaghetti and rigatoni, and the sauce was of poor quality. The staff in the buffet came to our table on 2 occasions at suppertime throughout the week asking if we would like more water/wine...that was frustrating. The pool was clean but the water was very cold!...few people swimming in it throughout the week. 2019 - solar heaters do an amazing job at heating pools and there was plenty of sun. The beach - step into the water and it is very rocky and slippery, my wife slipped getting out of the water and cut her foot, some snorkeling, but it is way out there by the roped swimming perimeter - with motor boats zipping closely by. The entertainment started late - 10 pm. After a 6:30 - 7 pm supper you had a long, near 3 hour wait (chat/drink) - how about starting at 9 pm, as many other resorts do, then people could sit in the lounge areas after the 1 hour show and chat/drink, probably a better start time for the many young children at the resort. I believe that in most instances you get what you pay for. The cost of this vacation was less than what we would have paid for at a 5 star like the Riu, or Royalton or Dreams. In balance, I definitely would have to categorize the Canoa as a 4 star resort.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Pampered in Paradise

Terrific place! The rooms are fairly modern and spacious. The grounds are immaculate. 2 pools (one quiet) offer whatever you're looking for... both have swim up bars. 2 buffets and 3 a la cartes… plus you have reciprocal rights to the adjacent B.P. La Romana with more dining options. Beach is nice: tall palms and lots of palapas. Staff were amazing! We try to get away a couple of times a year and this place was among the best we've been to. We would unreservedly recommend the Bouganville to anyone looking for a relaxing week in the sun.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Excellent

This resort was excellent! Amazing services, staff, entertainment, beautiful views and extremely clean. I would definitely recommend this resort to others. I loved that it is especially family friendly. I would love to go back!

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Perfect Get Away from Everything

We just came back from 11 days at the Catalonia La Romana. It was a wonderful vacation. We needed to get away and have nothing to do and nowhere to go. The resort was perfect for us. We were given a room in the central courtyard area and asked to be moved somewhere off the beaten path. The next day we were reassign and paid a small amount for an upgrade. With this we also got two massages (one for each of us) and dinner on the beach (which we declined). The women at the spa were terrific. We eac [... read more]h had the 25 minute back-shoulder-neck massage and liked it so much that we returned a few days later for a second treatment. It took the tension and the knots in our shoulder areas out. Ahhhhh. Francesca has the magic touch. The resort is VERY clean. Staff are always sweeping, cleaning and picking up after guests. We loved it that, no matter who on staff passed by us, each person smiled and said hello. We felt welcomed and valued. Our room was perfectly air conditioned and always clean. You have to get to the beach between 7 and 7:30 to get the loungers in the the shade. Be ready for a walk (about 2 blocks long) from the resort to the beach either through the two resorts or along the side road. There is a cart that goes every 20 - 30 minutes back and forth. We will consider returning to the Catalonia in the future.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Beautiful resort

Do not believe the bad reviews, the resort is awesome. The grounds are impeccable, the pools are very well kept. The service in the bars and restaurants are excellent. Lots of loungers, both shade and sun. The rooms are very well appointed. Good selection of food at the buffet and Don Pablo was very good. If you want white sand and crystal clear blue water , you won't find it here. The beach is a nice long walking beach. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Plan to return.

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Lovely! !

I really enjoyed it. The staff were lovely . The beach also! A special shout to Juan from snack bar/Mexican a LA carte took such good care and the mexican food yum. Also Yun Yun from the animation dept. Lovely lady. She even went out of her way when she had seen I had cut my knee to get a life guard to come and fix me up! The grounds are beautiful.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Great Adult Resort !

Super frendly staff, great buffet food, great a la cart restaurants, Super clean rooms and grounds, they don’t waterdown drinks, amazing pool bartenders, ocean was a bit blury because of the river running into it ( bottom sand mixing) not because of dirty water. We knew this going there. Reserving a day snorkel excursion is a must at Catalina island. Speak to Jessica at the hotel, super friendly ! The only negative was the return bus ride , they were late 40 mins,

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Great resort for the price

Travelled last week in January. Stayed in Royal Golden and room was fantastic with beach view. The pool was very nice. Beach is ok. Would like to be closer to a town to visit but I was there to relax. Service was very good everywhere and would go back!

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: A little disappointed

This is a hotel complex that has very nice rooms,well kept grounds,nice and well kept pools,but could improve there Buffet .Some of the items provided such as seafood, left some people sick,my wife being one.The service was over supplied and not necessary needed. The Resort was beautiful, rooms very clean the beach was beautiful, the food was amazing I loved everything about the Resort. the staff was very helpful on the places to eat at certain restaurants and the entertainment was fantastic.

Bahia Principe Explore La Romana: Kind if disappointing

Beautiful grounds, small beach, water was not clear like you would expect for being on the Caribbean. We had our room fumigated as I found 2 cockroaches hotel very prompt with that. Food and drinks were good. Staff very friendly and courteous, entertainment was good. Pool was great.

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Incredible resort, want to go back NOW!

This resort is a 10 out of 10 for everything. Food, room, housekeeping, room service, front desk, pool, beach, the list goes on. The staff have customer service down to an art. Managers were very visible and any concerns were addressed immediately.

Our stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Bouganville was fabulous! It is a beautiful resort, with lots of palm trees and shade at the beach. The rooms were spacious and very clean. The grounds were meticulous. There was plenty of choice in cuisine, both in the buffet and the a la carte restaurants. The food was excellent. Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Amazing resort and fantastic vacation!

From the airport, the bus takes you to the front of the Bahia Principe La Romana resort and then you are taken to the Bouganville side (adults only section) by golf cart. Check-in is done at the Bouganville reception and it was easy and quick. We were greeted by friendly staff with a welcome drink and our luggage was taken up to our room almost immediately. We were the lucky ones to get the best room in the resort - room 51201. We were the 3rd floor corner room facing the pool and ocean - we [... read more] had amazing sunsets every night! Our balcony was so large that we had 2 loungers and a table and 2 chairs with room to spare. Our butler Isaury greeted us shortly after and made sure we had everything we needed and answered any questions we had. During the week, he made sure we had a bucket of beer on ice delivered to our room every day at 4pm and he even had a bubble bath in the jacuzzi tub lined with red rose petals waiting for us after our pool time. Isaury went the extra mile to make sure our vacation was great. The Animation Team (Cappuccino, Caramel, Nicky, Mr. Wow, King Kong) ran events around the pools and lobby and got those who wanted to participate in activities, moving and having fun. We ate at 4 a la carte restaurants - Italian, Asian, Gourmet and Mediterranean - all were very good but our favourite was the Gourmet Don Pablo - we ordered surf and turf. The buffet had a different theme every day for dinner, so there was always a variety. Breakfast was pretty much the same every day, but there was a great variety so you could change it up. The restaurant by the beach is an a la carte from 10:30am - noon (order from a menu) and then at noon it switches to a buffet until 4pm - no complaints here either. Even though this resort is not new, it is very well maintained - gardens and grounds are beautiful and staff are constantly and discretely gardening, cleaning, painting, etc. Our room was very clean and comfortable - the only downfall is lack of electrical outlets for charging phones, tablets, etc. The beach is beautiful but the water is not clear. We were told that it is due to the river up the cost and that it stirs up the bottom causing it to look foggy. That being said, we have been to Punta Cana and Costa Rica and we did not have clear waters there due to waves stirring up the bottom, so not really much different. This was our 8th all inclusive vacation and it was our best! We heard that review ratings were down so we are not sure if we went at a time when staff were trying extra hard to increase their ratings or if it is like this all the time - we have no complaints. If we could change anything about this vacation, it would be that a direct bus transfer to/from the airport would be preferred - we stopped at 4 other resorts each way so our total trip time each way was 1.5 hrs. Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Missed the Mark !

The overall a stay was ok. The beach was very clean and provided a relaxing environment for the week. The service was seriously lacking. Each bar made each drink differently they were to say the least inconsistent. If you are going to stay at this resort it is worth upgrading to the preferred club. Each experience within the preferred club was great ! Outside of that everything seemed like an inconvenience to the staff. By the end of the week we were low on small bills an went to several out [... read more]lets to trying to get smaller bills including the Front Desk, Currency Exchange, Bartenders and Bell staff. We offered a tip to change the money and they were unable to make change. We were asked to purchase something at the gift shop in order to get change. We spent $30.00 and they were not able to provide us change from $40.00 so we were forced to charge the items to our room. At which time we went to the front desk to pay in cash the $30.00 item and guess what ? They had small bills. The entertainment was awful. The shows in the evening were not up to even a mediocre standard. We did not have a beach party which would have been welcome after listening to Karaoke from the other guests. We did have a few bright spots with the staff Victor and Zoleidy at the preferred bar were excellent. Champion and Eddy in the Entertainment Staff were also very good at trying to get the guests involved. Security was always lurking in the Shadows which provided and uneasy feeling like you were being watch at all times. I definitely would not be in a rush to return to this resort.

Our room was gorgeous with a huge wrap around balcony, but we were disappointed that we had to use bottled water for drinking and brushing teeth etc. In the morning you had to wait 10 mins for the water to run warm then another 40 mins to fill the Jacuzzi to the jet level. In our room fridge, along with 2 beer, water and soft drinks, there were only 3 miniature bottles of alcohol - not enough for 2 people, and that was your daily quota. I was Bahias biggest booster,stayed at P.Plata,Punta Cana and Mayin Bahias over the past decade and loved them all.After a few years away figured lets go back but to La Romana,it was not the same. Staff was friendly but in the past they were more outgoing in making connections and getting people involved in activities and events.The events and shows were always easily identified and able to locate on the premises, this time there was confusion and hard to locate where they were being held by gu [... read more]ests and staff.Trying to get a drink at all facilities was near impossible because the staff did not approach to ask you if you would like something with your dinner or lunch and if they did try to order an orange soda,did not exists and they looked confused by your request.However the food was fantastic as always and the rooms and hotel were spotless.The NYE event was outstanding they put on!! Maybe the past expectations were set to high?

Sunscape Dominicus La Romana: Good, but wouldn't come in the holiday season.

I enjoyed staying at the hotel, but wouldn't recommend coming here during the holiday season. The grounds are nice: clean, lots of birds and very green. The beach is nice and clean as well and there is an artificial reef, the fish were very friendly. Once you get in the water the bottom is mostly rocks. However, the lack of furniture in the room was upsetting. There was no desk, no chairs and the sad shelf that we did have was slanted and we were afraid to put too much stuff on it. It was hard to get the attention of the waiters for anything during meals and their English is generally poor. But the second that about a third of people left, the service became soooooooo much better. I would say that one can definitely give this hotel a try in the less not so busy seasons and surely you will get more bank for your buck.
