Grand Decameron Panama: Great Vacation!

We went with another couple this past week. The weather was GORGEOUS! The rooms were good, initially we were in the last villa I want to say 48 maybe 45 but we could hear the disco until 3am so we switched to Villa 34 which was much better. The first room we had, the washroom wasn't all that clean and we had no towels and had to ask for them but Villa 34 was clean, had towels and was cleaned very nice everyday. The a-la-cart restaurants were also very good except the sushi one (we like sushi) but the rice was sweet and the flavours of everything was a bit off from what I was expecting. Everything was fresh nothing made us sick. We saved our seats at the pool by 7 everyday because we read that, that is what people do and so we had a shady spot to sit every day. We would go back for sure, I wish we spoke Spanish but most of the staff speak enough english to help you get what you need and all the staff are kind. They drive cars on the sidewalks but they drive slow so you have time to get out of the way lol. Wednesday and Friday there were vendors out to buy suveniers from, the prices are fair and its a pretty good selection there were more vendors on Wednesday than friday but it was Good Friday so that may have been why. All in all we would go back I have never been on a vacation where the weather has been so reliable and the price was very fair.

Grand Decameron Panama: Great resort!

Great location for family fun! Water slides were a hit with the kids and lots of different pools and lounging areas to choose from! Meals were good too. Maybe would have liked more vegetarian options.

Grand Decameron Panama: Fabulous! Fantastic! Funtastic!

Rooms were clean and kept well. Resort was beautiful. Staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, some did not have any understanding of the English language. All dining areas were well stocked and food was great. Good food choices from the A La Carte to the Snack Bar. Excursion was interesting and the guides were pleasant and informed. Great experience!

Grand Decameron Panama: Great vacation!

Loved this resort! People were very friendly, grounds very clean and beautiful! Rooms very clean, comfortable beds. Food was better than I expected. I am a very picky eater and there was always something to keep me happy. We tried 5 a la cartes: mexican: very Good, italian: delicious, my favourite, sushi: not my favourite as I'm not a sushi fan and found there weren't many other options without seafood or meat, steak house: very decent, mediterranean: very Good, lots of options . The buff [... read more]et was always Good, lots of variety and seemed to be always fresh. The beach was very big, you could walk from one end of the resort to the other in about 10 minutes and if you kept going off the resort a bit there were restaurants and bars that are worth a try with live bands at night. The hotel seemed to be very organized and no one ever bothered you to buy excursions or spa which I have found to be an annoyance at other resorts I've been to. There are lots of pools to choose from, only recommend putting your towel on a chair to claim a spot in the shade by 7 or 8 am as they go quick and they could use more umbrellas throughout the resort. The adult only infinity pool had lots of shade with a swim up bar which we found to be nice when you were wanting a quieter spot away from the larger pools. I would use caution if swimming in the ocean as the riptides/undertow are really strong, but that was to be expected being on the Pacific side. If you want crystal clear, blue waters than you need to go somewhere in the carribean so don't expect it on the Pacific side. Only complaint I would have would be the little amount of shade spots and don't get a room close to the disco as it is very noisy and goes until 3 am. We changed rooms after the first night due to this and they were very accommodating and completed our request no questions asked. Would definitely recommend this resort and would go back in a second. Pleasantly surprised!

Grand Decameron Panama: Amazing Resort

This the first time I have ever been to such a large resort. Please of things to see and definitely a place to get exercise without going to the gym. Plenty of chairs available both and beach and all the pools. The only issue I had was a little confusion at times on what restaurant was open for lunch/dinner other than that small detail, it is a place I would definitely return. Rooms were clean and large.

Riu Playa Blanca: Amazing Vacation!

The Hotel is gorgeous, awesome food, great beach and sooooooooo HOT! We spent 7 full days and wished we booked for 2 weeks. We did the jungle boat tour which is a must. Although the forecast shows rain and clouds, it was gorgeous the entire week :P

Resort was simple, clean good food great service. More of a self serve resort which I am good with. Locals were great , vendors did not attack you for a sale and for money. Tours were great. Sunwing rep was great aswell

Dreams Playa Bonita Panama: Fantastic Week

We went here here because we knew the brand name and had stayed at the Dreams Tulum resort. Tho this does not match Dreams Tulum it is a very comfortable resort and i would rate it 3.5 stars. Staff are awesome, shout out to Juan of the restaurant staff and to all the staff around the pool area. Rooms very comfortable and clean, we had ground floor room. Beach is a nice walking beach when tide is out, not really a swimming beach but we knew that going. I would recommend the hotel to others.

Playa Blanca Resort: Good resort

Great food .. chicken to die for .. pork also great .. beef tough just chew and taste ..staff friendly and helpful .. definitely a 2.5 -3 star .they did not disclose a non-smoking resort only said no smoking rooms.. only could smoke at beach and lobby parking lot.. no 24 hr snack bar as advertised ..many ants on patio and public areas ..friend was biten alive many sores.... beach has no bunkers to stop waves and very strong undertow .. new casino but 5.5% charge on winnings ..airport very mini [... read more]mal only vending machines so eat before you leave Also tour of full canal only once a month first Saturday should be advertised as we would have chosen different dates

This hotel is clean inside and out, the staff amazing, scenery gorgeous Weather better than perfect, sun all day Beach chair not a problem plenty of it, the food is excellent buffet or restaurant a la carte, no problem for reservation The only thing they can improve a little more speaking English maybe just the basic

Riu Playa Blanca: Awesome Resort

We had an ocean view room, clean and always kept clean. Bathroom, bed, size was perfect. Resort was clean and food was always good either in the buffet or Resturant’s. Staff was friendly in the Resturant’s and even more so the entertainment staff.

Riu Playa Blanca: Nice place/poopy beach

The grounds were nice, clean and very well maintained. The rooms were very nice. One swim up bar. The first couple of days the bar had a smell coming from it...I think it might needed it's drains cleaned. It had lots of black sand...but that was ok...but they had horses right on the beach that pooped...pooped all along the beach....poop. They left the poop on the beach for the water to wash it away. I was so disgusted. The beach was not cleaned in the morning or late evening. THE POOP O [... read more]N THE BEACH RUINED IT. We were looking forward to long walks on the beach. My husband and I were so disappointed with the beach...The reason we go to the islands is for the beaches. Not the poopy beaches. This was supposed to be a 'long awaited honeymoon'. Very very disappointed.

Riu Playa Blanca: Phenomenal Trip

The resort was beautiful, very clean and quite colourful and modern. All the staff at the resort were very friendly and made sure our getaway was perfect! The food was pretty good and there was quite a bit of activities going on at the resort all day. It was a perfect vacation and much thanks our travel agaent, Karishma for making this trip an unforgettable one!

Grand Decameron Panama: Panama resort

Resort is nice but it is toooo big. Not good for seniors. Too hilly. They should have elevators to go up and down. All the rooms and lobbys are up and the restaurants and swimming pools, ocean and all the entertainments are down the hill. If you know spanish than you are ok. Staff only spoke spanish. Rooms are clean. Food is mostly repeated at buffet. Not much choice of vegetarian food. They provide shuttle bus to go around but you have to be at a lobby to order one and that even would take tw [... read more]enty minutes before you can get the ride. At the beach and swimming pool area not much shades provided. Panama is dry and hot place so seniors need cool place to relax near the water.

Grand Decameron Panama: Disappointed with Royal Decameron

Beautiful country, wonderful locals. Although we enjoyed our vacation, we were somewhat disappointed with this resort and did expect more value for the price paid. Firstly, if you have problems walking, bad back or any physical disabilities, pass on this resort unless you enjoy climbing fairly steep hills and/or stairs to get to and from the lobbies, roadway, etc. I swear I started to grown mountain goat horns by the end of the week. The Med restaurant was well known to undercook their pork, the beef was so tough you could not chew it. On one evening, 4/6 tables sent their food back after complaining to the Manager. Unfortunately the Manager did not speak English so it was very much a game of charades trying to communicate the problem. Order the chicken, it was the only edible meat. Sushi bar, spagetti with 5 spice redesigned as Asian noodles. Roast beef at the buffets was so tough, I could not eat it. Entertainment was average, some nights better than other nights. There was 1 French blonde dancer that has absolutely no rythym and should not be dancing on stage. It was painful watching her dance out of sync. Having been in the resort entertainment industry for several years, I can recognize talent. She cannot dance to save her soul. At the French Club, we asked a SMOKING group to please move from the seating area. They swore at my FRENCH travel partner in French, believing she was English and my room mate asked them politely in French. In return, the elderly Quebec woman told her I wish you would die. Shut your mouth!! Although my room mate and I are both French, we would never stay at another Royal Decameron with this French Club. They are rude, arrogant and feel that rules are not for them. We did have a problem the first night in our room with bedbugs. We were immediately moved to another oceanview room where I quickly checked the mattress bindings, etc. for signs of bedbug activity. The Manager on duty, Natalia ?, was wonderful and offered to wash my entire suitcase of clothing in order to prevent taking home any unwanted pests. Our Airtransat rep was available for any problems around the clock. Beautiful beach area with lifeguards but not enough cabanas . Lots of pools to choose from if you prefer. Overall. The grounds are kept immaculate by staff. The staff at this resort are all wonderful but I truly wish they would practice their English on their guests. (English is taught from grade school thru High school) Those of you that did try, great job!! There was ayoung man at the Pacifico buffet, Emilio (?), and he was so proud to be practicing his English. We praised him daily and he continued to speak English. Panama is a beautiful country, I would love to go back but would stay closer to Panama City. This resort is too far into the countryside. I feel the food offered brings down my rating. I'm typically not a picky eater but this was greatly disappointing for the price paid.

Riu Playa Blanca: Does NOT come as advertised

Unfortunately this Riu lacked a fundamental component to a high star rating, SERVICE. There was an evident lack of people at this resort which led to poor service, poor maintenance and dirty facilities. You can tell this was once a beautiful place but unless they put money back into it and hir more staff, it is going down hill. 3 star rating - pity!

Grand Decameron Panama: Don’t go

Ok. Don’t go here. Security steals your stuff, staff is not helpful our request for help for mobility issue, for a member of our group, was dealt with exact opposite, they put us at top of hill, he had to do 76 steps down to eat 76 up after eating. 30 + trips down south for us this is second bad review ....

Playa Blanca Resort: Be prepared

This resort is great if you are not expecting everything to be like you find in Florida or Mexico. Food is better than Cuba but still limited, staff do their job but are not really engaging (which we preferred anyway), most people there were from Central or South America, so all in Spanish (which we also preferred). The key plus is that we felt we were in Panama, and the resort did not feel like some commercial block. The only negative is the huge deception of the lagoon (large pool next door),  [... read more]which just allows you to have sitting or paddling space only, and the rest it blocked off (we were hoping to have long swims).

Grand Decameron Panama: was okay

very large..food ok ..rooms need some tlc...staff friendly enough..lots of pools ..not enough shelters at beach..not enough english entertaintment ...glad we went would we return not likely...but been there done that time to go some where different

Grand Decameron Panama: Better than I remembered

I was here several years and loved it. This trip was even better! You can be as busy or quiet as you like. No hassles on the beach and lots of chairs on the beach as well as the pools. Buffets are good and al a cart fabulous. I had one of the best massages I've ever had and I get them regularly. The resort is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. Met several people there for the first time and all will be back! Me sooner than later.
