It was ok

Good room. Great beach. Was not impressed with the lack of English the staff spoke. Most staff seemed bothered to help any guests. No coffee till 7 am. Don't ask to open up dining a second before it's time.

Very good to Excellent

Very nice resort. Clean. Amenities are good. Staff is amazing! We'd def go back. Food was ok. If you like omelettes, fresh fried fish, and salad you'll be happy. Great coffee shop. Beautiful beach front. Piano bar is a blast!

Very nice resort!

Travelled with my adult daughter during the second week of March. Resort was very clean and the gardeners worked hard to keep the grounds immaculate. Our maid took very good care of our room. Our room was in the central area of the complex beside the spa. Perfect location midway between the beach and the dining rooms and across from the pool. We would recommend Block 26. Unfortunately the band could only play until 11 pm. The resort attracted an older crowd that week so that the disco was empty. Food in the buffet ws very nice with a much better selection than I had anticipated. We particularly enjoyed the service from KRlos in the morning. A variety of seafood and beef/pork/chicken was available while you watched it being prepared. The roast piglet was very good. The specialty restaurants were good plus with the exception of the oriental. One disappointment was that the lobster night in the specialty restaurant filled up with guests in the Premium Section and did not have room for regular guests. Food from the snack bar by the pool was quite good. The pool are was very nice And not ever crowded. Never had a problem getting a chaise. The beach was nice white sand and never a far walk to find two chairs. My only negative comments about the beach is that there are two drop offs -- one shore and one in the water. With the waves it could be difficult exiting the water. We took two excursion. One to Coral Beach for snorkelling and the other into Habana. Coral beach was a ripoff -- don't go there. Habana was a great trip and we would like to spend more days there on another trip. The town of Veradero is a Cuban beach town. Fun for an afternoon. Overall a good holiday for me, but not so much for my thirty year old daughter who liked the resort but wanted more nightlife.

Check out the Piano Bar

Rooms and common areas were very clean and modern. Food at the a la cartes was excellent and it was nice that you could go to them as many nights as you wanted. Some people were not happy about the "first come first serve" at the a la cartes but we had no issue with it. The nightly entertainment was excellent especially the piano bar! We really enjoyed the snorkelling excursion offered by the water sports guides at the beach

Fabulous beach

We had a fabulous time and would go back again. Pros: fabulous beach, great snorkelling right on the beach (bring your own gear though), loved the beach volleyball, peddle boats and kayaks, grounds were nicely kept and rooms were decent Cons: friendliness of staff was hit and miss, but no one was overtly rude, everything shut down at 6pm, including sports club (closed at 5pm), I would've liked to see some activities between 6 and 10pm, besides the lobby bar. Tennis and ping pong should be availa [... read more]ble past 5 pm, when it's slightly cooler. After 6 pm, drinks were harder to come by, again unless you wanted to be at the lobby bar. You got 1 beer and 2 pop in your room, if you wanted to have a drink on the balcony and appeared frowned upon if you requested more. Beach towels were hard to come by, bring your own. Food was just okay, but I expected that. There was always something I liked and I probably felt better, because I didn't over eat. I still had a fabulous time and would go back, as long as you know what to expect, you'll have a great time.

Great resort

Resort had a lot of great areas to relax. The lobby was very inviting with the lounge areas the led to the lobby and piano bar. Great size resort without being too big. Amazing staff. Nestor did at great job at the lobby bar preparing spanish coffees. Snack bar and beach restaurant easy access from the beach. Rooms had plenty of room with large bathrooms. The bands in the piano bar were amazing and kept the party going. Food at the a la carte restaurants was fair. The wait staff in the buffet were always excited to see us and took care of us. Every day was amazing and I did not want to leave.

Still a good a resort

We went to Ocean Varadero for our third time with a large group. When we arrived we noticed that some things were being neglected by staff and management . We spoke to the manger the second day. He wrote a list of items and he actually looked after them. Overall still a great resort. Pros: Nice resort Relatively new Still not run down ( please don't let it get run down!) Beautiful resort, poorly managed

The hotel grounds, public areas and rooms were amazing except for the beach sand that seemed polluted by the nearby building site. There was a variety of bars and restaurants with outstanding interior design. Everything was very classy and created the right ambience for a perfect vacation. Howe [... read more]ver, I would not recommend this resort as there seemed to be some scams going on that ruined the entire pleasure of our stay. It is a pity that the efforts and hard labour of so many goes to waste because of the fraudulent activities of a few. For instance, there seemed to be a scheme with the beach towels. Ours disappeared on day 1 from the beach chaise-longues and after multiple negotiations, we were graciously allowed to pay 15CUC for one towel only, as the other one was miraculously found (of course on the day of our departure). We could have taken advantage of their generous offer to get other towels against a deposit but we did not want to take the risk of paying for 4 towels at such an outrageous price and exchange rate of 0.72 cents for a CAD. I am not sure if the foreign management is at all allowed to influence the recruitment process or make any personnel changes but if at all possible, these should be investigated. In addition to that, we also booked a trip to Havana only to find out that the tour guide was mostly focussed on taking us to those places where he gets commission from. We have been to Cuba before and we have always had a wonderful time there. We really hope this time it was just a bad luck and not an overall tendency.

Amazing Vacation

Just got back, everything was wonderful and we had a great time. Food was excellent, we ate at the buffet and had no complaints. The staff were very friendly everywhere and always willing to please. Our maid was very good, the room was always clean and we looked forward to seeing what she had made out of the blankets or towels. Our room was close to everything and only a short walk to all areas. The beac [... read more]h was beautiful despite being washed out the week before by a bad storm but they were working very hard to fix it. The entertainment staff were wonderful. We came home with fabulous memories and would definitely recommend it to family or friends.

Beautiful getaway!

The resort was clean and well laid out, and the staff were very friendly! We really enjoyed the beach and pool area during the day and the shows at night were fun! The food exceeded our expectations...quite the variety! I have recommended this resort to many people and I hope to return again soon!

Very nice resort

The resort was nice, well kept and clean. We got excellent service all week. Buffet had a good selection of food, and the a la carte was good. The Italian restaurant was nothing special you can have better pasta at the buffet. Our favourite was the oriental we ate there 3 times. We were only able to change our beach towels once all week that was our only complaint. Overall the service was good the people friendly and the resort was nice. We recommend this resort.

Great!

Rooms and surroundings were very clean. Resort itself was beautiful. Staff was excellent, always there to help. The only bad things I could say is that the food was not the greatest (but that's Cuba...) and they never seemed to have clean towels.

Super fun resort

Very clean and just the right size. Not too big so it was easy to get around and everything was so close. Our room was steps from the pool and very comfortable. Bed was a little firm and would take my own pillow nect time but very clean and perfect location. Would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat. Recommend private guide if you're going to Havana. It was awesome.

Clean modern resort. Good food, well laid out.

A very clean modern resort, very easy to get around, Food was good. A la carte restaurants were very good - Asian was by far the best by consensus of our group. Buffet had good variety but food was not always warm. Rooms were clean and well maintained.

Wonderful resort

This was a wonderful resort. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The grounds were so well kept and of course the beach was beautiful. We ate at the buffet every day which had a great variety of foods and the chefs who cooked the meat and fish while you wait did a fabulous job! We loved the events at the poolside and beach, and the nightly entertainment was fabulous! I will highly recommend this resort to anyone going to Cuba. I began to believe it just depended on who was on duty in the hotel lobby making the exchange on that particular day.

Tipical Cuba

Must say I expected a little more from this place seeing as it is so new & 5 star. Rooms were nice staff was awesome and the overall vibe of the resort was very friendly, met lots of great people. Food was a little disappointing but you don't go to Cuba for the food right? I would stay at this resort again if the price was right.

Great resort

The hotel was very nice, very clean they have a thing about toilet seats. The staff went well beyond any wants or needs, including any information needed about the nearest town or excursions off the resort. The food was good, but I did love the idea of no reservation for the a la carte and especially the option to the a la carte as often as I wanted. The beach needed a little maintenance to rocky.

Great Resort

The resort was nice, not too large. The grounds were nice and well kept. The beach was nice but a bit shelly, pool area was big, we never had to look for chairs at the pool or beach, always plenty. Food was really good, i always found something good to eat, and never a problem getting a drink at one of the many bars. The staff were always pleasant and helpful. We were a group of 8 ladies and we had a great time. Thanks for suggesting it Angela.

Nice Resort

Nice staff. Nice room. Better variety of food than at some Cuban resorts. Piano bar is very good. Enjoyed the tennis courts and ping pong table. Room towels need to be replaced and pool chairs are not really comfortable. We had a good week, but unfortunately there was a cold front for the entire week (not under the resort's control).

Awesome resort

Right from the get go our agent was awesome she recommend this resort so a first time cuba traveller we took her advice resort was great clean rooms grounds were beautiful food was great lots of choices beach was fabulous service was great lots of tours to choose from long story short could not have asked for anything better.
