Repeat guests x 6 and will return again!

Staff were excellent. Upgrade to ocean view suite in building 18 was well worth it. Management was present and visible throughout the week. We will return next year for our 7th stay at this hotel. Thanks MJDR.

Roaches! Bad Service! Good Place.

1.) Been to 24hr snack bar and people are so damn lazy that for 1egg it'll take 45mins for them cook, cause the staff there were to busy chitchatting / giggling to one another.(happened twice ar night) while the foods were colds, and the roaches are partying too on those food that was left at the conveyor. Haha Shimp is to book in a la carte dinner time before u taste it and the service will just took 1.45-2.5hrs to be completely served... (waste of time) 4.) people in the resort seems like need to be given a tip first before they served you, instead of doing their work right and serve... (I always tip no matter how they treat me, not a stingy, but I Am not satisfied how they served) 5.) Dumb thing to do Mosquito Killing with motor strolling around in the middle of the Party at night.. shud be done early In the morning to avoid the chemical inhalation and provoking the mosquito to come out more at a very humid night. 6.) Hotel Cleaner, not really cleaning well. sometimes forgetful about replacing towels and tissues. 7.) Bar People are so rude. Asking for lemon juice and they're saying they don't have it serve or they running out..... (Until the next nice server will be happy to make one for you, like wth is going on?) 8.) it is not recommendable and will never gonna come back at This HoteL. This place is full of crap and completely not happy on my vacation, Compared to Melia Las Dunas in Sta. Maria... (Been there last year, People and Food are amazing, it's just that their hotel suits are not Airconed at night) Resort is ok, Place is amazing, it's just that the people that works there are need to be reassessed / trained and educate more to DO their job well.

Better than expected.

We had a great time in this hotel. Food was great, staff friendly, weather couldn't have been better. Sunny every day 30+ temperature, beautiful beach, crystal clear water. If there was one thing to complain, it was mosquitoes. Every day between 5 and 9 PM they were everywhere. But they were biting everyone guests and staff equally. They tried their best by spraying every morning and evening. Not our first trip to Cuba, but first one at this resort and we will definitely be back.

Great Family Vacation

We had a great time at the resort. Beach was perfect, both pool and beach always had enough space to easily accommodate the guests. We enjoyed the buffets more than the a la carte restaurants, especially the beach buffet at lunch. Very friendly and attentive staff and great live entertainment daily. Resort is suitable for children with a huge kids pool and kids entertainment nightly.

Awesome beach experience!

This resort is a large and beautiful. Lots of walking which is great. Recommend bungalows near the beach to have a quiet sleep. The ones near the pool get really noisy at night into the wee hours of the morning. The beach is one of the most beautiful I have seen. Stunning colour and clear waters. Some seaweed but not constant most days beach was very clean, and we never had an issue finding a spot the chairs are plentiful. Same with pool. Always a spot to be found which was nice. Unfortunately we could not enjoy the entertainment because of the mosquitos, so I cannot comment too.much on the shows but the music was good.. Bring lots of insect spray and after bite to be safe. Bring lots of sunscreen because it is hot and there is none to be found on the resort!! If u do run out then a short bus ride into the town is doable and u get get good sunscreen there but expect to pay double for it!!! Do not exchange American money at home as they do not accept it anywhere. Buy your peso's here . They do have banks on the resort to change there as well. If u love horses they offer horseback riding on the beach which is truly a beautiful experience!! Just walk and look for the AmigoS with the horses. The Japanese Chinese restaurant on the resort is amazing so be sure to try it. Be aware that they will only allow u to choose 3 al la cart restaurant choices for ur stay and u must make reservations. The French restaurant is also good choice. The buffet is good too as they offer stations that cook fresh meats fish and pasta. The beach is heaven on earth. Be careful in the sand as there r broken shells and be careful in the water there are stingrays always shuffle just in case. The medical facilities are very good and always available. There is plenty of food and they offer it all around he resort...Beach pool and buffet. Some drinks are not available all the time but you can compromise. The only downfall other than the mosquitos is that we had to complain numerous times to have our rooms cleaned. In 7 days they cleaned maybe 3 times. Also found he rooms to be in bad shape for a newer resort. Truly is a beautiful island and a place that definitely shud be visited. I would return for sure.

Melia Jardines del Rey- OK

The resort is great and very interesting excursion to Moron and Pilar beach. The room size is great. Nice beach The customer service and food can be improved. Resort in tropical like Cayo Coco should more fresh fruits for clients The major issue: MOSQUITOES. I have no enough word to express the need to curb the MOSQUITOES menace. I am very sure your organization is quite aware of this shortcoming. Awesome beach!

The room was cleaned well. We were up graded to a king room with oceanview! I had not rquested anything but first room had 2 double bed and we asked it a king was available. Main walk way was under construction. This was dangerous in the dark. Also it was not a good job. It would be more impressive if the main walkway was redone completely. Melia Jardines Cayo Coco

Beach is amazing, White sand, aqua water. Resort is 20 minutes from airport which is a bonus. Staff seemed very courteous, friendly. Room was clean, a few ants around toilet. Shower and water pressure great. A few problems.....bars ran out of tonic and soda water for several days. A la carte restaurants were not good the nights I was there but other nights people seemed happy, so I guess things are hit and miss. Grounds were lovely, pools were kind of scummy but that was after huge parties occurred. Yes I would go back with more bug spray. Always take Kleenex with you as often washrooms ran out of toilet paper. If you want to take gifts things that are welcome are toothpaste, toothbrushes, feminine hygiene products, personal grooming items.

Fantastic Getaway!

Wonderful service! Awesome drinks! Food was excellent - especially the fresh fish! Pool and ocean - spectacular! The market right outside the resort gate was a great place to get souvenirs. The disco was fun! The entertainers were very inviting and fun! Oh! And the Foam pool party! So fun! Will definitely be back!

Second time around.

This was our second trip to the Melia Jardines Del Rey, we thought that we would give this resort a second chance as our first trip the resort had just opened. This time the resort was full when we arrived but after the Easter weekend the crowd thinned out so this should have made things easier on the resort. The pool desperately needed cleaning, not even the pool deck was cleaned at night even though the pool closed at 6 p.m. They have not yet figured out the food service. The a la carte  [... read more]was extremely slow, the second buffet only opened if the first was full and the staff shutdown early and stood talking to one another. Even if you managed to get in when it opened your food was usually cold as they did not know how to keep the steam tables working. The overall impression we got from customer service, the front desk and most of the staff was that they did not care. 2 people on the front desk were great and the lobby bar staff and management were outstanding we went for coffee in the morning and drinks in the evening. Would definitely go back to Cayo Coco for lobster at the Playa Prohibida and to take another tour with Pepe's Island Tours (williamstaxi@nauta.cu).

Great amenities, service lacks

I thought it was a great resort, the food quality can improve and the hotel service can improve. There was no towel service all week, no shower head in our room and no room phone or line to call anyone. Other than that it is truly an open mind when you are in Cuba. The weather was great and the tourist groups were great. 7 days are plenty -

The Best Time Ever!

We loved this resort! it was amazing! the resort is a large one, so there was a lot going on, we didn't quite get to see everything we wanted, (one week was definitely too short) The resort itself is very beautiful, the staff are very friendly and helpful. The beach was magnificent! white sandy beach, calm waters for the most part, loved it! The a la carte meals were awesome, I wasn't overly excited about the buffet, for a large resort, I would have expected more food stations, the line ups for fresh food were way too long had to wait a long time. Overall the food at the buffet was good. Just expect large lineups. During our stay, it was the busiest time for the resort, there were a lot of people, and staff worked to full capacity. Even though with all that was happening, and witnessing the customer service team work to accommodate all requests, it just amazed me that they worked so professionally to help those that required urgent assistance, they took the time to assist me with my simple request to obtain a vase for flowers I received for my birthday (they didn't have vases at the resort, so the staff improvised and made me one out of a water bottle) Overall, I would highly recommend this resort, we had the best time, I definitely plan on going back, hopefully in December of this year! :)

Exceeded Expectations

I had lowered my expectations beforehand and the hotel exceeded them, especially with the food and room. Overall, good bang for buck. The Good Beach - great clear water when not windy; soft sand; some good snorkeling close to shore; lots of starfish, sand dollars, etc. Great for long walks on either side of the resort. Food - I had lowered my expectations considering that it's Cuba, but the food was really good, surprisingly. Ropa vieja, jamon serrano, manchego - tonnes of good st [... read more]uff like this. Was never hungry. Lots of imported food from Spain. Kids loved the ice cream bar (when it was open...) Rooms - Rooms were large and clean; good water pressure Bad Grounds - poorly maintained, ugly landscaping, lots of tripping hazards. Not up to the standards of a 4 or 5 star in the rest of the Caribbean. Service - long lines at times, a la carte waits were unnecessarily long; service at the buffet by the beach was sub-par - the wait staff had a lot of attitude.. Overall, most of the staff didn't have a good service mentality. Wait times could easily be remedied by adding more staff... they were severely understaffed for a resort of this size. Hours - stupid schedules for certain services e.g. one beach bar would close at 3pm, resulting in huge lines at the other beach bar. Not enough palapas - had to wake up at 6am to reserve beach chair, otherwise you'd have no shade or be in a palapa way down the beach. This could easily be remedied by having another beach bar, as they have the space... Beds - cheap and uncomfortable. Flight - I wouldn't go Air Cubana again - plane was dirty and on takeoff one of the 3 bathrooms already didn't work. By the end of the flight, none of them worked. Pool - was absolutely disgusting. There were no chemicals in the pool for most of our time there and there was lots of material floating in the water.. For 2 of the days, you couldn't even see the bottom of the pool, which isn't very deep...

Great Staff

This resort was well maintained for the size of it but unfortunately there was limited food at the buffet and lines ups for everything . The staff were amazing on the resort which made the vacation . Wifi cards were available but many times you could not log out so your card would run out even if you only used it for 10 mins. The beach was beautiful with plenty of chairs for lounging the staff would bring the lounger to your spot , dust it off for you . Great experience!

Great experience. Staff were friendly. Beaches were great. Nightlife was excellent. I have no complaints. I can't wait to return. Bombino (Animacion on the beach) was fantastic. Very helpful. We enjoyed spending time with him and learning about Cuba. Thank you.

Enjoyable stay!

This was my second time to this fabulous resort Melia Jardines del Rey. I was impressed by the extended beach and care of the staff for all of its guests. This time the amount of guests had more than doubled leaving the staff overworked and some of the lineups quite long. The care of the ground and guests is exceptional. Unfortunately, customer service in the main lobby does need some attention. They were the only staff that were not pleasant or accommodating during our staff. Hoping to return to Melia but my husband would hope to either have more staff available or less guests at one time to limit lines. Excellent resort- so appreciate the staff.

Very nice!

The hotel is large with many services, lots of pools, great food. The only downside was the water contamination. Would have been great to know this in advance but the hotel did everything to ensure that we had enough bottled water on hand.

Big resort but worth it

The Melia did not disappoint. It is very well maintained and very clean. The Cuban people are a happy and interestong people; proud of their culture and curious to learn about others. It is a very big resort so if you book here be specific about where you prefer to be located- beach or restaurants. The food is ample and satisfactory. The beach is the very best part of this place. Amazing resort

The resort was absolutely beautiful, well layed out and easy access to both beach and pool.The service was great and the food was surprisingly good for Cuba.The entertainment was fun and staff were very friendly and helpful.It was an amazing place to stay and I would totally recommend it to family and friends.
