We paid for Diamond Club and had none of it, apparently we were in a renovated room Upon our arrival Day 1 No internet, safe not working, no hot water, no phone in rooms to call Lobby which was 1 km away, no Diamond Club service on the beach the whole week They shut down the only buffet and forced us to 3 a la cart restaurants which was a shit show Ran out of plastic cups, beer, vodka the list goes on We have been coming to cuba for over 20 years and never experienced such cayos in my lif [... read more]e We understand Cuba .. people are always great and housekeeping were wonderful as well as weather but the running and management of this hotel is to be desired Making us rethink Cuba vacations

Hotel very clean..grounds are beautiful...staff were excellent.... Shortages on food...but staff tried to accommodate everyone... Entertainment staff very friendly hard-working people... Shortages on alcohol and beer... But you'll find something to drink....... Diamond club.. don't waste your money we got nothing that was offered on the website...

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Worst trip ever!

Bathrooms were disgusting…never any toilet paper …always over flowing Food was the worst in over 20 visits One couple got locked in their room…over 3 hours One of our guests got a cockroach in her mouth No cushions on the seats at the buffet at sanctuary .. but there were at Grand memories… we just had staples to sit on No wine the whole 2 weeks ..except the last day Last day had no choice but to eat at the buffet at Grand Memories….we paid more to eat and drink at Sanctuary …should not ha [... read more]ve been forced to go elsewhere Bartenders at the pool were downright rude I can go on but I voiced my opinion… I am done with Cuba Sunwing reps say it’s management, management says it’s Sunwing Someone should get their act together they are destroying what used to be a great vacation

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Stunning beach!

We had a great time at memories. Nice and relaxing. We knew of the shortages going to Cuba. But very surprised at how bad they were. We were in Cayo Cruz 3 weeks prior and this time it was worse. The staff were very friendly, minus a few at the front counter. But Jorge and Nayat in customers service made up for the bad behavior from front desk! You could not ask for a nicer beach. Absolutely stunning.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Grand memories cuba

i had a nice time , got to relax enjoy the beach . Resort is a bit on the older side but still charming . The rooms were outdated. Food as you could expect was nothing to write about , but it was ok . Service was good , kind and smily staff . Overall , it was good value for the money . If you want a quick getaway, just relax , listen to music and enjoy the beach it’s perfect , I strongly recommend bringing some snacks and such from home with .

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: A big disappointment

This place is dated. The room was okay, but we did end up having to move because a rodent of some sort was getting into the room through the electrical outlet, eating snacks and pooping on the vanity. They ran out of beer the day we got there, but did have it the next day. Drinks were very limited and there was no soda pop to be found.The food at the buffet was okay for Cuba, but lacking in variety. There was no bread, so burgers and hotdogs, if they had them were served Keto style. They had e [... read more]ggs most days, which was great for an omelet. The snack bar on the beach had decent pizza, but it took forever to make and they usually ran out. The staff were okay, but I don't appreciate being expected to tip for every single thing you get, especially when it really is part of their job. We could not get out beach towels changed daily, so had to use them for 3 days in a row. Toilet paper is in short supply, so you run around the resort trying to find napkins or toilet paper on the cleaning carts. We ended up moving to the other Memories resort on the 5th night. They did not have ice or blender drinks. The room was much nicer, but they did not clean our room until our check out day. Their snack bar had an hour long line up for food and they ran out. The beach was beautiful and it was easy to find a chair at the pool or the beach. This was the only saving grace. I will not be travelling to Cuba again.

Grand Memories Varadero: Loved it!

Grand Memories exceeded my expectations. The food was decent. We always had fresh eggs in the morning and grilled chicken at night. The staff were so kind and even permitted me a late checkout due to my evening flight. The quiet pool is gorgeous. It’s decorated with faux rock, very beautiful. The activity pool wasn’t for me although many people seemed to enjoy it. The beach was great. I always managed to get a spot in the shade. Varadero beaches do not disappoint. Otherwise you’d be back at the bar 4-5 times to get the equivalent of 2 beer in the tiny cups they provide. Room was as expected, very basic and the tv was broken which I also saw on one video review so I think that’s common. The room phone didn’t work but the air conditioning was great and we had a fridge, overall after the short adjustment and lowering my expectations on the room I was very pleased. The magic show in the theatre was great and so were the Michael Jackson dancers. Norge (Nor-Hay) the bartender was extremely kind to both myself and my son. Alfredo at the front desk too. There was a young server in the dining hall who told me she had a 5 year old son, she was so sweet and I regret not getting her name. I would absolutely return to this resort for the gorgeous beach, serene quiet pool and wonderful staff. Many other tourists on the resort had been to it multiple times so that says a lot! Grand Memories Santa Maria: Not 5 ?

Holes in bedsheets, stains on all towels and bedsheets... When asked to replace, I was given fresh ones with the same problem. Definitely a mood killer. Grounds kept clean. Food is below mediocre. Main reason to go is the beach and ocean.stilk had a good time unwinding..

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Cheap Vacation, but...

We were told that there could be supply issues and I believe it should be stated on the Memories Caribe website exactly what the issues are so that guests can make an informed decision on whether they would stay there or somewhere else. Firstly, it was hard to get towels changed and when they did, well we have better scrub rags (tattered and frayed edges and not very white. The fridge in the room was empty from day one to day seven. When we inquired about water, soda or even beer, we were told [... read more] it was due to supply issues. In particular, gas for the trucks to make deliveries. Second, the food. We had bread on 3 days only. Never had any bacon or ham. I believe the omelettes were made from powered eggs and were served with tomatoes, green peppers and cheese. A couple of mornings we were offered hotdog wieners or hamburger patties (meat only- no buns). Don't get me wrong, I did not starve, but the meals they served, were the same every damn day. Chicken or pork with chicken or pork stir fry cooked fresh on the grill. They also had tallapia fish grilled fresh and freshly cooked pasta. I just wish they could have changed it up a few days. A few French fries would have been nice. Third, wine. Wine was only offered at the buffet and the al-a-carte restaurants during lunch and dinner. There was no wine available at the bars around the resort. On a good note, It's a great place to go if you want to lose a few pounds. Lastly, at the end of our vacation and went to the Cuban airport and got to chat with others who were on vacations at different resorts, some experienced shortages also but not to the extreme we did, and some travelers experienced no shortage at all. Majority of the staff were great and tried to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The problem I think is the management lacks innovation or motivation to improve the situation.

Memories Jibacoa: Amazing Resort for Adults Only

Everything is great at this resort although this is is my second time there and we were not able to use the pool or ocean for days after just arriving because of the storm that came in. They worked so hard to get everything back up and running. The pool was ready on the last day of our stay in the later afternoon and we did go in for a short time and we were able to go in the ocean one day. Both are beautiful! Especially the piano bar where there is karaoke, a guitar player who was amazing and a piano player. The bartender Miguel was excellent in serving your drinks! Great resort to go to if you’re looking for a more peaceful and smaller resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

The resort was very beautiful from the palm trees to the flower's and the beach the different venues were decorated nicely. The public washrooms were kept impeccable and they decorated the sinks with hibiscus flowers everyday. Entertainment was good. Different choices everyday in the piano bar, at the pool and a beach party at night!! (Wear insect repellent) There were some shortages…items unavailable at times were bottled water, bread. Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Fabulous time!

Beautiful and clean resort! Lots of activities to keep you entertained all day and evening. Staff are engaging and friendly! Food was good, lots of drinks available. Loved the beach party, disco and piano bar. Great entertainment nightly, truly enjoyable! Dancing into the night! Always great music throughout the resort and disco represented by DJ Tinta. The entertainment team was awesome!

Memories Paraiso: Mixed feelings

Hotel nice and clean, as for the rooms they need some work done to upgrade them. We asked to be moved as the room them put us in was unacceptable. The fridge was not working and not clean and a lot of the knobs for the dresser drawers were missing so we were unable to open them to put our things in. Bathroom toilet did not flush properly and bathtub faucets rusty. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Nice resort in 1999!

Hotel is well is well laid out and easy to get around. Many of the staircases have no railing a danger for seniors Room was fine with comfortable bed. Which was nice considering we had our bed made up 1 time in 7 days after much discussion with butler. Toilet paper and towels were in short supply and needed to be chased. Shower was a safety hazard. Nice resort beautiful grounds and pools are doing some renovating staff was very good housekeeper keep my room nice and clean 2 ladies in the buffet were awesome the cooks where very accommodating some of the fountains weren't working took away a bit of the beauty

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Good Resort

The hotel was a bit of a disappointment. We arrived at approximately 1:30 pm after a nearly 2 hour bus ride from Santa Clara Airport, and was told that our room would not be available until 4:00 pm. Once we finally got access to our room we found that there were no hand towels or facecloths but only large bath towels. There was no drain stopper in the bathroom sink or in the bathtub. There was no clock in the room, and the hot water was not functioning. One day the main water pipe broke [... read more], and there was no water. As a result we couldn't flush the toilet or get water to wash etc. Fortunately this dilemma only lasted 1 day. The main concern was the lack of toilet rolls and paper towels in all the washrooms. A situation that should never happen in hotels. These are basic necessities to clean living. Dining was another problem. On our first full day we visited the buffet for breakfast and fortunately was able to get eggs. That was the only time in our 10 day stay that eggs were available. Bacon seemed to be rationed in that it was not available every day. Cold cereal was available, however there was a lack of spoons, which necessitated us to seek them out from from the waiters and waitresses. We visited the Italian restaurant twice, and on both occasions the food was presented cold. At the main bar and at poolside bars, certain types of alcohol and soft drinks were sometimes not available - very inconsistent. The grounds were nicely kept, and the workers were very friendly

Resonance Blu Varadero: Memories Veradero, 2024

Beautiful hotel overall. The grounds were impeccable; Very well maintained. The staff and services were wonderful! The hotel manager, Fernando, was very present; always milling around in various areas of the hotel, and ensuring things were running smoothly.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Holguin: Great resort

The hotel is a larger resort. The staff throughout the resort were friendly and always happy and helpful. We did have some shortages of bread and eggs, due to lack of fuel for deliveries, but the staff made the best of it and there was enough choices and we were full every day. There were no cigars available so bring your own. The beach was beautiful and warm. I’d definitely go back.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Drank the Kool-Aid

My wife and I have just returned from Memories Flamenco Beach Resort in Cayo Coco Cuba. Over the last 30 years we have been to Cuba more than a dozen times and we have gravitated towards Cayo Coco for the quality of the beaches. For this trip we drank the Kool-Aid and booked the Junior Suite Diamond Club Ocean View upgrade. While the view from our balcony was spectacular, do not expect to have access to the upgrades on a consistent basis or in some cases at all. Here is what we found: Check-in: [... read more] there is no complimentary early check-in. We arrived at the resort at 10:00 AM and just like everyone else we could not get into our room until 4:00 PM. That is a good chunk of our first day eaten up with just passing the time. Our room: we had asked for a room with either a double bed or two queen-size beds. What we ended up getting was a room with three single beds. We were told that we could not move rooms for at least two days, so we settled in with what we were given. Exclusive beach option: while this does exist, there is no guarantee of a beach chair. Just like every other resort you will find yourself going down to the beach at 7:00 AM to secure a spot. There is also no dedicated waiter service to your chairs. A waiter came to us once during our stay and served drinks for about an hour. Drinks: do not expect to get the alcohol you ask for. There was a lack of choices including rum amazingly enough and a lack of pop for mixes. There was also a lack of coffee in the mornings and when it was available it was certainly not up to Cuban standards. Food: everyone will tell you that the lack of quality food in Cuba is endemic for the entire island. That applies to this resort and to the Diamond Club restaurant. Mini bar: It was not stocked daily. The fridge was only big enough to hold a couple of cans of beer or pop. More often than not we had to ask to have it filled. Exclusive lunch at one a la carte restaurant: didn't happen. One dinner show per week: didn't happen Diamond club restaurant: this was a nice feature and certainly better than eating at the more public restaurant. The variety on the menu is quite restricted however. Beach: the beach is beautiful and is why my wife and I chose to go to this particular resort. It should be noted that in front of the diamond club chairs there is a fair bit of coral, and you will need water shoes if you want to take a dip in the ocean. If you move down the beach a bit however you will not need the shoes. Staff: overall they were very friendly and accommodating. Having said all of the above, my wife and I are very experienced travelers, and we are very familiar with the problems Cuba is having at the moment and so none of the items above concerned us a great deal. Because we are beach bums, believe it or not, we will likely return to the same resort. It is not going to be any better anywhere else in the foreseeable future.

Well folks, can’t understand the negative reviews, yes it maybe a little dated but the room had power, running water, hot water, toilet that flushed, air conditioning (that worked great), comfy bed, extra pillows, blankets, bar fridge( that worked great), water, safe, TV,(not sure if it worked never tried it), the resort itself has great landscaping, bars had alcohol, lots of places to get food, beaches awesome, pools great, to all the complainers about the food, you are fussy, there is plenty t [... read more]o eat always pork, chicken, seafood, rice, potatoes, beef roast, all the veggies, bread, and desserts including ice cream and donuts made in front of you, and the staff was absolutely amazing, the best butlers I have ever had, Richard Diaz Peralta and Odlanier Urquiola, tip these guys and they will go out of there way and get you whatever you need, please watch out for sand flies early in the morning and evenings, you really don’t realize till you get home how bad it itches, take bug spray, other than that you will have a great time
