Fantastic Resort

This is an adult resort. I went there with my friend. We had a blast. The resort was very clean. The employees were extremely friendly and quick. The rooms were always stocked and cleaned. The wine could have been better but that's ok. You're still able to purchase and charge to your room. I would highly recommend the resort to anyone and would most likely return. 10 out of 10

The Riu Republica is great resort

the hotel was very good ,with the service,food and amenities.The room was a fantastic ocean view,with balcony, it was very spacious and well kept. I must also mention the entertainment, it was absolutely fantastic every evening and there was also a great. house band every evening to keep us dancing. Great Adult Resort

We were pleasantly surprised with this resort as there were many negative reviews on this resort. Well don't pay attention to these reviews as the resort is great. Food lots of options in the buffet no one will go hungry. Loved the variety and theme nights. The three restaurants are good as well and no reservations required. As we like the beach we didn't use the pools however people that we spoke to liked the pools. No need to get up early to reserve chairs. There are tons on loungers in the beach and pool areas. We enjoyed drinks In The lobby after dinner and found the quality of drinks pretty good. We will definitely return to this resort.

Amazing Resport

The resort was well laid out and all restaurants and shopping were easy to access. There was never a shortage of chairs on the beach and the pools looked amazing. The grounds were always being cleaned and the rooms were a good size with a shower big enough for at least 2. It was nice to be able to go to the a la carte restaurants without having to book a reservation. All in all, I would definitely return to this resort.

Girls "retreat" RIU Republica

Not your typical RIU if you have stayed at others in the past. If you read up on the resort before booking there should be no surprises. Keep in mind if you are planning on hanging around the "party pool" with swim up bar, there usually is quite a few very drunk stragglers at the end of the day and very loud. Some people never leave the pool bar all day! Likely should be called the "bathroom pool"! Smokers are very inconsiderate of who is beside them and where they are blowing their smoke.(pool, buffet, entertainment plaza, lobby). But then, it is not unique to this resort. Our girls group had a great time. We did not starve, there was aboundant food at the buffets, my least favourite meal was the only a la carte-steakhouse. The servers were very attentive. We tended to sit in the same areas and once they received a tip after our first meal, service was excellent. The staff are great and friendly. The entertainment team always encouraging people to participate, but they are not insistent. They also get the ladies and gents up to dance in the evenings. Rooms: we upgraded to courtyard but we overlooked the entertainment plaza area and were placed on the second floor. Our patio came out into the roof of the walking area on the main floor. I would suggest a higher floor request towards the beach/ pool area. The rooms are large and kept very clean. Our rooms usually done first thing every morning. Would I return again? Not my first choice. Would I recommend? Yes, if you are going with partying in mind and know in advance what to expect. The only unpleasant experience was the length of time from touching down on arrival to check in-- 3hrs. Beware if you are travelling on a Saturday morning flight!!! There are quite a few that arrive at the same time and the line up through entry tax station, then immigration is lengthy-have your forms filed in and ready when arriving. Your luggage is usually off the belt and waiting for pick up when done with immigration. Then the wait for all passengers on the bus, then hotel shuttle stops along the way!! On the return we were picked up at 8:40 and arrived at 10:15 with another long wait for Sunwing check in, then security and immigration. Very little duty free shopping time! I would suggest taking a taxi to and back from the resort if I were to do it again.

Very Large Resort

Pools were lg and beautiful, Tons of beach chairs, so you didn't have to go down at 6 to get one. Washrooms were very limited for such a big resort, only one with 3 stalls around each pool area and only one by the lobby, which was also where night club and theatre were, with over a thousand rooms this was one of the problems. Restaurants were all great food but all were buffet even the Italian and Asian ones. Steakhouse was ok, but felt rushed and there was only one steak on the menu. Resort i [... read more]s lag and needed to get our room moved as we were the farthest away from anything and my husband walks with a cane and wouldn't have been able to do it all week, they were very accommodating in changing rooms.

Rui Republica Punta Cana

Very big hotel but very friendly staff. All the restaurants were buffet style except the Steak house, and there you only got to order your Main coarses. Not one Restaurant had a washroom!! So you had to go back to your room(which for us was a very long walk) Or head back to the Lobby washroom. For being a new hotel it was not over the top for a Rui. We have stayed at 3 or 4 Rui's in the past and found this one a little disappointing.

Fantastic Resort.

We love this resort very much. It is easy to go up or down from our room. We would want to go back again. We enjoyed every moment that we were there with our friends. the services was great. we love the beach.

Very Windy in January

Why no one did a study on the are to see if it was a good spot for a resort is a mystery to me. The winds reached 42km/h and would regularly gust up to 35km/h. I can understand a day or two, however the "Red Flag" indicating that you cannot go into the sea because of dangerous waters was out 10 of the 14 days we were there. Waves in the 6 foot range consistently. Why not invest in some walls or breaks in the water to control the waves? Terrible

The room we were in had all 12 air conditioner generators right under our balcony. We were told the garden room but it was more like the road, a place where they do laundry for the hotel and the 12 generators. I did not think the room was cleaned properly. The night before we left we had what I thought was ants all over our bed. After calling someone showed up and said they were not ants and they tickle not bite. I told her I did not want these bugs crawling all over me. She sprayed someth [... read more]ing and washed the floor and it made it better. The food was good but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great vacation

The resort is well laid out and easy to get around. We were there from Jan 6 to the 20th. Check in was quick and all of the resort staff were friendly and eager to please. The food was very good and the buffet was always full of choices. You could easily find a sunny or shady spot either on the beach or at the pools. Our room was large and I would recommend paying a little extra for the courtyard room. Beautiful Hotel, great staff

We had a wonderful vacation at the new RIU in Punta Cana. Staff were excellent and very happy to be there. Entertainment was great, food was great. My only complaint was that the pools all closed at 7, being an adults only resort we were surprised that there wasn't one pool that was open later. Overall it is an excellent resort, beautiful, fresh and everything you need is right there

Great resort

Clean, new, great staff. Rooms are very clean and large. All restaurants are buffet style with no reservations. Food quality and selection are excellent. Staff is pleasant and helpful. I will return again!

Good resort

Riu republica was a good resorts with many perks. The entertainment was great, very friendly staff, beautiful beach and pools! However the food wasn't good and at times I found the dining areas not very clean.

Disappointed!!

This is the fifth RIU I've been to. I was disappointed with a few things. First off the room was excellent. The room was kept clean by the staff. Unfortunately the public areas were not kept as clean as they should be. The food was acceptable but nothing special. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Riu Republica, what a gem!

This is by far the best hotel we've ever stayed at! We really enjoyed our stay at Riu Republica resort in Punta Cana! The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and the grounds were very well kept. The rooms were gorgeous and we enjoyed the fantastic view of the ocean. They had a lot of entertainment for our whole family, including our granddaughters who enjoyed the dancing lessons! Excellent Resort!

We arrived on December 16, 2016. Our two daughters had already been there for three days. Our check-in was flawless, the person checking us in even changed our rooms so we could be close to our daughters ( we didn't even have to ask). The resort is absolutely beautiful, extremely modern. The grounds are immaculate. The food is among the best we've ever had. The buffet had a great variety, and the quality of the food was second to none! The beach is absolutely amazing. Was it worth the price?

My man and I went on our annual vacation down south. This year we tried an adults only hotel. It’s called the Riu Republica in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. I was told it just opened in June. Was there enough activities? Yes. The entertainers had games for everyone, BUT…they were too long to wait to play them. They would try to get 10 to 20+ people to sign up. So, you would get one turn and then wait another 10 minutes to play. My man and I did win at darts. He came 1st and I came 2n [... read more]d. However, this is normal in most resorts. So, if anyone from resorts are reading this, can you please do a max of 10 people. While we want to play, we also want to enjoy the sun. There was a fun game called Slip and slide that the tourists decided to do. They used one of the tables in the pool, added TONS of water to it and encouraged everyone to get on. Well, most of us did and it was a blast. I did hear though of someone tearing out their belly button ring because there was groves in the table. 2 days during the week they had a foam party. They played great dance, rock, and some country music. So, that was great. What was the room like? One word…HUGE!!! We had a king size bed…OMG, I loved having my own side of the bed. I would have to roll over 3 times just to get close to him. So, you can imagine how amazing my sleep was.lol There was plenty of water bottles, alcohol, beers in the fridge, towels and pillows. However, constant humming outside. We were facing east, which was what we wanted because we wanted sun in the morning. However, we couldn’t sit out there because the noise actually hurt our ears. There was some sort of machine outside that was constantly running. It never turned off. What was the weather like? That’s the interesting part. It rained every morning, but would stop around 7:30, and at least 2 times during the week in the afternoon. What about the food and drinks? OK, so here’s where I’m a bit disappointed. There was 1 buffet, a snack place, and 3 restaurants we could eat at. The buffet had good food and quite a variety, but the restaurants all had buffet too and not open every day. Only the steak house had sit down menu that you chose from. Everywhere else was buffet. I really wanted a sit down dinner and something different. After all, that’s what it said was provided in the description. The drinks were good. We had beer most of the time, and mimosa in the morning. One of the bar guys Leornardo made wonderful dry vodka martini’s with LOTS of olives for us. One girl at the pool gave me a shot with coffee cream and chocolate sauce…OMG, that was tasty. We tried the Mama Juana. YACK!!! That stuff will grow hair on your chest, even if you’re a woman! What about the beach? Ah yes the beach. The beach was soft and easy to walk on. With the crazy weather i.e. wind and rain it was hard, but we walked 40 minutes each way. We saw the Hard Rock hotel that we walked in to see. It’s HUGE. Not a place for him and I. We like smaller and more outside. This hotel felt like it was a shopping mall. It’s good for some people, but not for us. So, would you go back? We paid over $3600 for the 2 of us. It was fun, we met some very nice people, and there were no kids. So, would we go there again? No! The prices doesn’t make up the difference for things that are important to me like restaurants, quiet time while sitting on the balcony. Last year we stayed at the Grand Palladium Punta Cana and it was 2 times the size and cost us $2400. Oh and there was no one selling local artifacts which we liked to see during the week.

Exceptional place to stay!

The resort is so clean and the staff have exceptional attention to detail! The grounds are well groomed and pools are very clean and perfect temperature. The food was so tasty - there wasn't anything that wasn't good, which is rare. The red wine was the only complaint that I had. i make homemade wine thta is better than whta the hotel had to offer.
