El Dorado Maroma: The luster of this Karishma property has faded

We have loved all of our stays at a variety of Karima managed properties over the years. We come mainly for the food, weather and beach. By far Maroma beach is stunning, but the El Dorado here is a shadow of its former self. The "gourmet all inclusive experience" was a bust. Perhaps for economic reasons since this is a small resort on any given night during the pre Christmas week we were there many restaurants were closed for dinner. Only on a few nights were four open, on some only two and [... read more] on one only one. The quality of the food has suffered as well. For breakfast only one a la carte with a limited selection and the other is a buffet, which if you don't get there within the first hour of opening everything becomes dry and mostly tasteless, certainly not a gourmet experience. For lunch these two same restaurants are the only two available along with a bar which serves a few items. For these reasons we would not return here and will think seriously about any other of their resorts. The one thing which has always bothered us about the "gourmet all inclusive experience" are the cheap Chilean wines on offer, on the red side, one Malbec, and a cab, both rather horrid. If you want anything better prepare to mortgage your house, same goes for the spa which is lovely put the service and expertise is nothing to write home about.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great Location, Exceptional service and hospitality

I travelled solo and I am a vegetarian who does not drink alcohol. And this hotel had everything offered to me to relax, rewind and rejuvenate. I never had any issues with food. The rooms are very clean. The staff is very friendly, helpful and courteous. The hotel attracts many Europeans, French and Canadians. I enjoyed the speciality restaurants. The pool activities and the beach walks. The only soar spot was the city bus tour offered by Air Canada vacations. The driver left 13 of us stranded b [... read more]y coming 45 min late to pick us up and offered no explanation. 13 guests from different hotels stranded on 5th Ave at 9pm in night. Not a good experience. I did complain to Air Canada Vacation representative, but she never reverted.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: We keep coming back!

This was our third visit with our kids, now 4 & 6, and we can’t wait until next year! The food, the pirate ship pool, the water slides (heated pool!), the staff - all five star. We have never done family concierge, and honestly don’t see a need to.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Delicious, Exciting, and Energetic!

Pros: - AMAZING authentic restaurant food - Fantastic staff (shout-out to Francisco at the Grazie Italian restaurant, he was awesome!) - Very clean resort (staff are always on the ball) - Tantalizing shows (PLEASE go see the nightly shows; they're SO GOOD) - Beautiful views (Check out the rooftop terrace!) - Very close to the airport Cons: - Daily events and fitness classes from TV schedules didn't always line up with actual events - Events sometimes seem to get cancelled without noti [... read more]ce - This is a personal preference, but I would have appreciated more Latin music, and maybe some relaxing music in the Hideaway section. There was a lot of party/pop music. I would HIGHLY recommend this resort. It was a blast! In my opinion, the staff and the food made the vacation. Don't forget to tip! Tipping a few CDN or USD to the hard-working folk at Hideaway goes a long way in making your vacation that much better and everyone is happy! Also, try out some original Mexican drinks while you're there! I LOVE the Banderis Mexicana, Riviera Maya, Paloma, Michelada and Carajillo!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: One week in Royalton Riviera

The trip was a good one overall. There were some things that we really liked for example the hotel itself and the rooms. The drinks were premium. We were upgraded to the Hideaway section, which is adults only. The negatives were the location of the hotel and the beach. The hotel is located in a marshy area, so there was a terrible smell, lots of mosquitoes and no outside view. The beach was dirty water, muddy, lots of seaweed. Long lineups, hours of waiting etc. The buffet food was ok, very repeatitive, nothing special . Overall 4 stars out of 5. We expected better.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great resort!

My husband and 2 year old girl just came back from visiting Royalton and had a great time. Great for kids with an awesome splash pad, nice pools and our room was excellent. ( Presidential Suite). The restaurants were decent with the Indian restaurant by far being our favourite

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Another great vacation

We have stayed at the Iberostar Del Mar numerous times, in fact - we got married there a couple of years ago. Less than 1/2 hour drive from the Cancun airport, which is nice after a flight. Fabulous staff, excellent service and beautiful grounds. The beach is beautiful and plenty of shade options if you cannot tolerate all the sun! :) Looking forward to another return to the hotel. Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Unique environment at Xcaret hotel

Spectacular jungle environment exquisitely maintained. Excellent food and service. Friendly staff. Need reservations for tennis courts and specialized restaurants. The hard surface tennis court needs to be resurfaced and a tennis pro should be available during peak periods. We enjoy the Xcaret park and all the activities.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort!

The service and each and every member of the staff was just excellent! The facilities are also awesome, everything you need is always there. Great views of the ocean, the xhale area was quiet and relaxing. Food is ok. Mexican restraunt was excellent.

Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Great place!

The room was clean and updated. The food was delicious and service was great! I would recommend this resort for couples or for families. The nightly entertainment was great as well. We enjoyed our stay.

The Sens Riviera: Nice resort!

Food: buffet is very good, even though as with most buffets, there are similar items served daily; men are not allowed in wearing a sleeveless shirt, swim suits are allowed as long as a cover up is worn. We were at 3 of the 4 a la Carter’s, where the food is delicious...(be prepared for a 2 hour dinner in the Greek or Italian). Men must wear long pants, even if it’s blue jeans or sweat pants, but women can wear pretty much anything (very short shorts observed on 1 occasion), Men are allowed  [... read more]entrance to the outdoor portion of the restaurant wearing shorts, but we did see the occasional man allowed in the indoor portion wearing shorts pants, but we were turned away for my husband wearing knee length shorts...Inconsistent dress code. Room. Our room in building D was clean, close to the beach, buffet, lobby. Partial ocean view description is a stretch. Beds & pillows were comfy, good shower. Staff: very friendly & helpful. BEWARE...You’re greeted at checkin with champagne by a nice helpful staff member who will take you aside for a few minutes & offer you spa coupons, etc & invite you to a “delicious breakfast” at Secrets Akumal, just down the road. When asked if he was selling time shares we were told a definite NO, that they do not believe in them that they are promoting the hotel brand, We declined the offer, much to his chagrin, only to learn from other guests that they are indeed selling shares in the Sunscape chain. Our host barely made eye contact with us after we again refused his offer on our second day. Beach: beach is good, lots of chairs. Certain spots are reserved for SunClub guests. The water has lots of rocks, so SWIM SHOES ARE A MUST if you plan on going in the ocean. Pool: we didn’t spend any time is the family pools, but they are spacious with lots of play areas for toddlers & young children. The beach buffet serves decent food & drinks. Gym: well equipped but way too hot for a gym in spite of a/c & fans which are. It always turned on; 6 treadmills, bike, weights, etc. Coca Cafe: open 24/7, good lattes, pastries, sandwiches, ice cream, popcorn.. Entertainment: in the theatre (seating is not tiered) is pretty much non-existent & starts at 8:30pm, a bit early if having a late dinner. Most entertainment is karaoke in the Starlight lounge; the lobby often has a pianist or saxophonist playing for an hour or so. Shops: the gift shop is small, barely supplying necessities, but decent souvenirs. There is a jewelry store on the premises. Outside vendors (jewellery, clothing, hats, souvenirs, etc) set up 2-3 times per week in the hallway between the buffet & Coco Cafe. There are no beach vendors.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Good Family Resort

We were at this resort for my son’s wedding. The reason this resort was picked by the bride and groom was because children would also be attending. My husband and I did not have children travelling with us but we still really enjoyed this resort. We found lots to do on resort and even ran out of time to enjoy everything that is offered on the resort. I am a beach person so I was a little disappointed with the beach as it is rocky but with water shoes lots of people were in the water. However  [... read more]I did spend time at the beach and was happy that there were lots of shade from the trees. i also spent time at the pool and it was a great time. The wedding venue was very beautiful and the food was excellent. Our favourite buffet was La Laguna but the best was the Riviera and Brazil. We loved our room. We had a king size bed (with a really good mattress) and a whirlpool tub. The maid was very nice and did a great job. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Amazing staff

I will return here just for the service. Alfredo and abdeal on the royal service side went above and beyond for my friends and I. Super polite and very efficient. Best service I’ve ever received at a resort and this will be the reason I return. I admire people who take pride in their work !

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: great place

This hotel is beautiful,rooms were nice and big and clean,pools were clean and warm,very friendly staff,the food was plenty and good, the La carte steak house was fantastic would recommend this resort.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Great resort!

It is a great resort with the most amazing staff. Sadly with social media, it has become well known and is very busy and hard to get a reservation now without booking months ahead. There is also a much larger European number of guests now also because of this. Sadly the majority of these people are heavy smokers. Spoke to the resort about making a smoking and non smoking section because of this and they are considering it as I was not the only person to raise this concern. These people are s [... read more]moking on the patios which makes the non smoker or those sensitive to cigarette smoke have to keep their patio door closed and miss the sound of the crashing waves. A big part of the ambiance of this resort with all rooms facing the ocean front. Other than the above, it is an amazing resort with amazingly hard working staff who remember you from year to year.

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: The perfect resort

We loved this resort. We loved the food, the staff are all super friendly, the beach is beautiful and there is a reef right off the beach so the snorkeling is great! Istanbul smaller and more intimate so we loved that about it and our room looking into the ocean was amazing. Only great things to say about akumal bay beach and wellness resort!

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Iberostar Lindo Resort

The resort was lovely. The restaurants were amazing except the food wasn't as hot temperature wise as it should be. The people were amazing and helpful. The pools were terrific and the entertainment was top class. I would definitely go back again.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: You will not be disappointed

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Yes it is amazing

First of all, thanks to Linda for all she has done for us to make this trip a success. Everything at the Hotel is wonderful , the food is excellent so is the service, the grounds, the pool and the beach. We also enjoyed all the animals roaming free. We highly recommend this place. I must warn you about 5th Av. in Carmen, stay away from any Jewelry shops, those peoples are mainly CROOKS, besides that you can not walk 10 ft. without being harassed . After 20 min. we went back to the hotel

Riu Tequila: Awesome resort

This was the first time in Mexico and it was awesome! Love the Riu chains as been to the DR and Jamaica. Lots to do and great restaurants and buffet. Food was great everywhere, even at the beach in the yukatan hotel area where pools are. Only a 5/7 min walk to beach from Riu tequila. And you can shop nearby too. We had 6 days of sunshine then rained once. Hotel staff were great all around. The white party was nothing I have ever seen so much fun. I will definitely come back one day.
