Riu Santa Fe: Wonderful Resort

The Rui Santa Fe is a really great hotel. The rooms are very nice and the whole hotel is beyond clean. Everything is cleaned it seems every day. The gardens are very nice with all the cactus and drought tolerant plants and kept up to a very high standard. We really were impressed with the buffet restaurant. I usually struggle to find things to eat at resorts as I like plain food (not spicy) but at the Santa Fe they had both. The pools are very nice too, it is unfortunate you can't swim in the ocean there because of rip currents but the pools were a nice temp. and there were lots of chairs and palapas. All the staff were exceptionaly friendly and helpful.

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Pleasant resort

As a party of four adults and a 10 month old baby, we spent a pleasant week at the Riu Palace on St Maarten. The hotel is plantation style set in nicely kept gardens. The accommodation is spacious and very clean. The beach is not suitable for long beach walks, but the water is calm and warm and lovely for swimming. The food was rather mediocre. There was a wide variety to choose from at every meal, but the quality was disappointing. The staff was very friendly, polite and helpful. The general ma [... read more]nager and assistant manager were approachable and Mr Clemont Perna went out of his way to accommodate special requests.

Riu Santa Fe: Great resort!

First of all a thank you goes out to Sunwing for our great flights, no delays and This includes the staff that met and organized us at the airport and our arrival at the hotel. This was our 2nd time at the Riu Santa Fe and we were booked into building 4 which isn't a bad thing if you are wanting exercise going to and from your room as there are no elevators, which we did not, and the next morning we asked for a transfer to building 7 and were accommodated within the hour. Yes there was construc [... read more]tion on the Riu Palace but that just kept us further entertained at watching those guys working in that crazy/awesome heat! The staff at the Riu are always awesome! Those people hustle from morning to night per a lunch time visit that we had with a lovely young lady named Brenda. She works as pool side entertainment during the day and was off to rehearse for the show that night. Food at the Riu is consistent, meaning there is always lots but nothing is ever too hot! Except the French fries!! But again when you figure how many people they put through the buffets in a day they do a pretty good job. Would I recommend this hotel to friends, yes, but as far as a family hotel with little kids, the Riu Fun land was small and quite a ways from the main pools, but if you are dropping your kids off there to be babysat then you might not want them near your pool! The beach.. Well groomed but No swimming in fact I understand that even wading could be dangerous due to the undertow. Price was definitely right for our October 17-24 trip the weather awesome, the grounds very well maintained and the drinks.. Well you can have as many or as few as you want!! Thank you Riu Santa Fe!

Riu Yucatan: Perfect for us! Amazing food and beach

We loved this resort. We felt like valued guests at all times..loved all the workers..it was the great staff that makes this resort stand out to us. I also appreciated the decent size drink cup they offered for drinks and straws if needed so we did not require the big bubba mug. I felt safe with the kids at all times. A few too many smokers exhaling smoke onto me and beware some rooms smelled of smoke..but there are different rules in Mexico I guess..smoking every where here I'm not used to this from Canada. We are non smokers and don't like the smell. The rooms/beds are small but sufficient . the mini fridge in room got restocked every other day with lots of water pop and beer. We did not want for absolutely anything. Every thing great. We loved Anthony and Jerry teaching dance lessons at the activity pool. These guys are so fun!! They were fantastic as was Isreal the bartender, Vidal, and our room cleaner. The shuttle was an easy 45 min from the airport. Check in and out went smoothly. The shows were alright. The pool could have been cleaner..a lot of missing tiles on walls of pool.. found them at bottom..debris in pool..stepping on stuff (small rocks and debris) in pool. Only saw it cleaned rarely. (1x all week) However, I was sad when it was time to go because it was the best time and we can't wait to return! Our kids also said they liked this resort the best of the many resorts we have been to. Ages 6 and 9. There are a few mosquitos so bring repellant but not too bad. There is several pool areas here its a very spread out large resort..a lot of walking and no elevators..just 9 3 storey walk ups. There are no ocean view rooms no room service no waiter service and Wiifii has a fee of $10 a day. We loved that you stay at 1 Riu but can explore 3 other nearby Riu hotels. This gave more variety. Lots of Wildlife here too!

Palace St. Martin: Ok resort

The hotel was ok but I wouldn't say it's a 5 star. The pool tiles were falling off , the food was just ok, entertainment was weak. The staff at the front desk were not friendly. We needed to have a late check out in our last day and they charged us $90 American to stay an extra 4 hours. I think that was ridiculous. Also when we had booked massages they lost our reservation and we had to book a completely different day. I wasn't happy

Riu Flamingos: amazing resort

the resort had everything you needed and more we did not have to to leave the food was great lots of variety very cleanand spacious rooms definitely worth it no reservations for a la carte restaurants you could go back more than once

Riu Palace Paradise Island: Great hotel and vacation

Good food. Close beach access! Had a great time. R n r with my wife. No problems with the hotel staff. Pool was small but decent. Food was great. Ample selection. Lots to choose from for everyone

Riu Montego Bay: Great trip

Overall we had a great time at the Riu Montego Bay Resort. The resort was clean, our room was clean with NO bugs. Food was pretty good, not a huge variety. Staff was nice. Entertainment was good. At the time we visited the resort they were renovating the disco, so the stage area was the temporary "disco" Beach was pretty nice, hardly any seaweed or rocks. Riu Cancun: beautiful Resort

Clean, Food was amazing it caters to everyone. The rooms were clean, the persons at the front desk, pool area, restaurants everyone one amazing. I would definitely recommend this resort to friends and family. I would also come back.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: Honestly cannot say anything bad... Awesome awesome

In a nutshell, my wife and I were on our 14 day stay at the Palace, and as much as we wanted to do excursions , we had no sense of bordem or that an escape was needed. The food was Riu quality (awesome), and the service was exceptional, honestly. As any Riu, the grounds were perfection and the liqour was hard as a rock ;) its beaches were prestine with their cocoa powder sand, and spotless. Not our last time.

Riu Playa Blanca: Great Panama Holiday

The Riu Playa Blanca Hotel was amazing.The staff was great,they actually changed are room 4 times till I was happy and no complaint.The maids were amazing,the rooms and balcony were kept very clean. The pools 4 in total were great,however there were no bathrooms close to the pools. the swim up bar I did not go to,seen people in there drinking from 9:00am until after 12;00 and never got out to use the bathroom so to me that pool was definetly off limits YUCK. the meals were okay being a vegeta [... read more]rian and my husband a meat lover it was very hard.The steak house which he loved only offered meat,the side were 2 pcs of broccili and 1/8 cob of corn.We loved the pasta restaurant the best it had a little bit of everything.The nightly entertaiment sucked.

Riu Montego Bay: Great resort

The hotel was nice and clean. Fairly modern, rooms weren't anything special (sheets weren't soft) Beach was really nice, locals only came by to sell stuff before 9am and after 5pm. Great selections at buffets. The three restutants were nice, but I would have prefered them to not be biffet style. Pools were well kept and offered great seating. Very close to airport, 4-5 planes flew over each day. Only issue during our stay was with an excursion we booked.

Riu Playacar: Perfect Resort

My friend and I just returned from a week at Riu Plyacar. It was the perfect resort - not too big and not too small. Even though there were a lot of guests, it never felt crowded and there were no waits at any of the bars. Even on the days we slept in a bit, we could always find chairs by the pool. The resort and rooms were immaculate. Although we picked this resort partly due to the fact we didn't need to make reservations at the ala carte restaurants, we ate at the buffet every night. The [... read more]re we lots of choices to keep both of us happy. The entertainment crew were outstanding. They worked day and night running numerous daytime events ( poker, aqua fitness, Zumba, volleyball, soccer, bocce ball and horse shoes to name a few ) and then ran the evening show. They were friendly to all guests regardless of age. Do not hesitate to book this resort. You will love it.

Palace St. Martin: Beautiful Resort

The beach, grounds, and pool were great. The food and drinks were amazing. The staff was fantastic. The spa was good. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The entertainment was very poor. The advertised resort credit are coupons.

Riu Bambu: Not a resort for family

While the grounds are clean and the rooms are kept clean, the pools, hallways, lobby and entertainment areas are flooded with smoke - too many people smoke around the pools, the lobby, the hallways and the entertainment center. Wherever we walked, we can smell and inhale 2nd-hand smoke. My kids are in their tweens - they didn't like the kids pool because it's very kiddy, they want to be in a big pool. But the big pools specially the main pool with the swim-up bar is so crowded and floode [... read more]d with smokers. There are cigarette butts around the pools, on the tables etc.- not a good sight and experience for my tweens. We ended up going a couple of times to Riu Naiboa where the pool is free from rowdy crowd and free from smoke - Riu Naiboa turned out to be a healthier and more appropriate resort for us. There are 4 fine ding restaurants but all non air-conditioned. This is definitely not a 5-star resort. Overall, I was dissatisfied with our stay at Riu Bambu. I wish the Tripcentral representative, described us the resort in detail - the atmosphere, the ambiance, what's going on in the resort, we would have changed to Riu Naiboa or other resorts.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Awesome resort!

This is our second time to this riu resort. I was pleasantly surprised to see alot of the same staff still here. Gigi is so much fun, and Manuel, the gentleman behind the pool bar is also fantastic. All the staff are so friendly. The nightly shows are extremely well done! The rooms are very nice, they restock your fridge daily. There is a bar in your room. The food is delicious. Riu Cancun: Very Clean, Beautiful Resort

The hotel was much larger than other RIU's I have stayed at However very clean, not a bug in site, hotel staff were always cleaning, touching up paint and maintaining the overall hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and quick to assist with anything needed. The pool bar staff were very friendly and fast at making sure you received your order quickly and made properly. One thing that was a little disappointing was that our hotel would cover the sun once it hit 4pm. because the building is tal [... read more]l. It casts a shadow over the pool and beach making it a tad bit on the cool side with the winds coming in from the ocean. The food was really good, I recommend the Steakhouse if you are going to try anything. You didn't have to make any reservations which was a nice change, it was first come first serve. And there was never an issue getting into one of the restaurants. The beach was very clean, they made sure to remove any seaweed that was dragged in with the waves and Lifeguards were always close-by. There are some vendors who walk up and down the beach strip but aren't pushy like the vendors across the street. We booked excursions through Nexxus, there were some issues with our excursion bookings. We had to cancel our initial trip and book another one through a recommended third party. Which ended up being more money for less. (Which my group was not happy about) The overall experience at that excursion was not very good. The ATVing was really rough. They put two people on a one seater ATV where I was hurt from my behind hitting off the metal rack on the back of the ATV. One of our friends on the excursions seat was loose and they told him to still continue driving. Our ATV also kept dying throughout our drive. We went to speak with our Nexxus representative later and he explained there have been multiple complaints with that third party company and they are looking at dropping them as an option. (which we would have appreciated to know sooner) There is a lot of shopping surrounding the hotel, However be aware there are a lot of vendors who are pushy and they tend to get a bit overwhelming after a while. A three-story super market is conveniently close if you are looking for hotel room snacks. Very good prices and definitely a sight to see. Really beautiful supermarket. If you are the type of person who likes to be in the heart of where you are travelling, not sure this is the place you want to be. It is very americanized. Almost like a vegas strip. High-End stores such as Burberry, Armani, Cartier etc. are close by as well as big clubs and chains of restaurants. The flight staff with Sunwing were very pleasant, no delays, flight was on time and great overall service.

Riu Guanacaste: Very nice stay!

We visited the Rui Guanacaste on our honeymoon and loved the experience. The restaurant staff were very friendly and always prepared. They would come up to ask what you wanted within a minute or two of you entering the restaurant. The cleaning staff were very friendly, and having a minibar in our room was a nice touch. The beach is not amazing, but that is fairly expected in Costa Rica. The pool was awesome, but very busy during the afternoon and it's just one large pool. Riu Santa Fe: Great time in Los Cabos!

My boyfriend and I did a little bit of research going on our trip, and the Riu Santa Fe did not disappoint us ! The Riu is about a ten minute drive from downtown (14 USD cab ride). The resorts beach is not the greatest (the sand isn't fine), most of Cabo's beaches are NOT swimmable due to the water conditions. We did find a few beaches where we could take a dip In. We did one a la carte (Italian) it was nice, they also have a BBQ by the Infiniti pool around noon as well as a taco station before dinner. We did go into town a lot to explore and eat and would highly reccomend to do so. Entertainment was great, always something going on, it was an overall great first time in Cabo !

Riu Tequila: Great vacation

The hotel is really beautiful, strongly recommend to keep the colonial flavour in case of refurbishment. The other RIU resorts located on the beach have a modern glass/chrome flavour that I hate. If I need that I can go to a hotel downtown Toronto. Staff is great from top to bottom. Had the feeling that I'm part of a big family. Food was great, good variety. Had lamb, turkey, steak, roast, tuna, salmon, salads, variety of cheese, natural juice. Of course hamburger, hot dog and pizza for the m [... read more]orons who prefer fast food instead real food. Croissants were not the real ones that I like and the desserts were a step back compared with what I had at other resorts in Mexico but this is just a drop in the ocean and by no means a deal breaker. Usually the family strategy is to have a different experience with each trip. If this will change we would be more than happy to return to RIU Tequila.
