Melia Peninsula Varadero: Not what we thought!

the grounds and style of building look great. But inside needs lots of work. Beds are extremely hard with uncomfortable pillows. Our room as well as other people we met had cockroaches in their rooms. Some had ants and some had tiny little red bugs in their bedding! Not acceptable. Most websites say 4.5 star some even say 5 * no way! Their is NO service in "customer service". We had to ask for 3 days for clean bath towels, have our room cleaned and bottled water - this was to be done da [... read more]ily. When I called customer service, i was told in 5 minutes - that took 3 days! Don't lie - just tell the truth is my motto. Damien at the towel stand is awesome - he was extremely helpful for us to get the beach towels. The pool is amazing as well as the staff at the pool snack bar! The vacationers were not so nice - they stoled your towels in the morning when you put them on your chairs - not good - we are all there to enjoy so why steal - get your own towels - we did we paid for the elegance club - don't waste your monies on it

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Most Satisfactory

Neat and clean grounds and facilities. Service staff were most friendly and accommodating. Food and al la carte restaurants were exceptionally good. Common areas and bars had room for and need for more tables and chairs. The beach at this resort is fabulous. Our only issue with our room, (building 3), was the difficulty of stepping in and out of the raised bathtub/shower. We would need a room with easier access to shower if we were to return to your resort.

Paradisus Varadero: Beautiful Resort

Very nice hotel , the Family Concierge was very neat , the staff very friendly, the service was great ! The beach beautiful the food on the buffet was good , the snack bar was always short of pizzas or ketchup ... the staff very nice

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Decent resort

Main lobby was very nice. Room was nice also. Ceiling could use fresh paint. The washroom was out dated. Faucets were rusted. The beach was fantastic. Sand was powder. Water did not have a lot of seaweed Ala carts were the best meals I had at this restaurant. I found majority of the staff rude. And, when I spoke to other guests, they agreed. I found that the catered to Caucasian guests first, and then the rest of the guests after. Trying to get coffee in the main dining room was interes [... read more]ting. They would walk right by me with the coffee pot. Even with my hands up. This was the main reason why I would not return to this hotel. They need to treat all clients equally. Ample lounge chairs on the beach. This was a plus.

Melia Peninsula Varadero: AMAZING RESORT!!

From the first day the service we recieved was exceptional, even though we didnt know much Spanish, all of the employees were soooo amazing and friendly, the services are also top of the line. The buffet food can be improved a little but i understand its a buffet. The restaurants were amazing in the resort which you can book

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Very disappointed!

We did not get checked into our room until 6pm and only after insisting, that they finally agreed. Although the actual check in was 4pm made for a very long day and did not receive our bath towels until 6:30pm. Had issues with getting clean bath towels a few days later finally received them at 6pm that night after complaining to the front desk. The 24 hr snack bar was not always available. Didn't always have buns or bread available for the hot dogs and hamburgers. Only had 7 out 10 restaurant [... read more]s availabe. The food was always cold no matter what time you went to eat as the steam tables were not working in neither the snack bar or the buffet. Meat was under cooked, raw fish/meat not properly stored making it a potential risk for food poisoning for which I ended up sick on my last day there. A great way to end my holidays! The rooms were nice but needed TLC. Patio door had no lock, ceiling pot lights hanging from ceiling over sink, tub unbelievable dirty, comforter dirty and stained with blood. We did however have plenty of water pressure and hot water as well as AC. The staff were very unfriendly not very welcoming almost felt like we were a burden to them. The resort did not have that Caribbean feel that I was so looking forward to. Thankfully the weather was super nice and the beach was awesome. It was a very disappointing stay to say the least especially having waited three years for this trip. Unfortunately we will not be returning to this resort

Blau Varadero: Nothing short of Amazing!

This particular resort held true to its 4 star standing. The hotel was beautiful from the outside as inside. My family and I went in January 2019. The Cuban hospitality held true. Once we arrived we were offered champagne. Check in was easy and fast. We went to our rooms which were spacious with an ocean view. The lobby bar was spacious and the bar staff were amazing. There were a few restaurants but the food that was served was excellent. Did not disappoint. There was quite a lot of v [... read more]ariety. The gym had the latest machines and weights to work with. The ocean was less than a 5 minute walk. The entertainment each night was fantastic and was enjoyed by my parents who are older and my boyfriend and I enjoyed it as well. There was a trolly outside of the reception which can be taken into downtown Varadero. For a small fee and comfortable ride - was taken twice by all of us. The beach was packed but the views were incredible. There were several game rooms. The kid inside of me came out and I thoroughly enjoyed paying tic tac toe and basketball in their court. The pools were beautiful as well. The entertainment team did not disappoint. Overall, a fantastic trip. A great travel spot for my parents as this was their first time. Surely, to return again. Would highly recommend this resort and may return again in the near future.

Palma Real: Location is key!

I was very pleased with this resort. When I arrived, I was greeted with a smile and was able to get access to my room right away (got the at 11 am). The rooms are a good size. There were minimal food options, but when in Cuba!! It is only about a 5 minute walk from the Beatles bar which is exactly what I wanted.

Hotel Tuxpan: Home as always

Hotel is starting to get some renovation. My bed was new. Although I am not to fussy the one thing I really woyld like to see improvements on is the ground and tiles you walk on. On the eay to the bathroom behind the stage the sidewalk needs repairs. When you head hits the tiles it be dangerous. I was ok but lucky. Staff is amazing as always. The beach is the best! Food still needs some improvements. Pool needs some TLC.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Amazing Trip!!!

This was our first trip to Memories Varadero. Overall it was a great experience a few minor flaws but nothing that affected our overall trip. The service in a few places needs some improvement often we were told they had run out of items but seen other people with those items. We had a renovated room so we had no complaints there. Resonance Blu Varadero: Fantastic resort

This is resort is huge ! Everyday they have carts to drive you from the lobby to anywhere on the resort, the staff was incredible especially Amaury,Amed&Juan(baggage and cart)Soe,Ailen,Yenisleidy, Thalia(lobby) Arlette (diamond club dining area) and I cannot remember her name but she makes omelettes in the morning and is always singing and being amazing)

Memories Jibacoa: Great resort, great people

The resort was well maintained with a very friendly staff. Our room was made up in good time daily with not issues. Beach and pool were amazing with the hot cuban sun shade was at a premium but with a bit of planning spots could be found. The food was good we were always able to find meals that suited our needs.

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Very lousy place

This resort was inadequately staffed. The place had shortages of many food items. Only 2 of the 5 advertised a la carte restaurants were open 1 other restaurant was not consistently open.Coffee was never provided for the coffeemaker in the room. Oh my... the food in the buffet was barely edible..jeeze...

Starfish Jibacoa: Wonderful, quiet resort!

Our fourth visit and we will return!! Beautiful beach, so quiet! Great snorkelling! We are plant based and the food was wonderful!!! Had it covered at every meal!! Staff are all so personable. A Spanish coffee after dinner each night topped it off!!!

Punta Peninsula Varadero: Fantastic Vacation

I stayed at this resort from April 3 to April 17 I am a female and went by myself, I felt safe at all times. Any issues that I had were promptly dealt with and the staff was accommodating and courteous . I didn’t get any water one day I requested it and I immediately received it, I asked for a room change with the Sunwing Rep, and he assisted me in getting that to happen the next day The beach staff and entertainment staff are phenomenal I would recommend this resort , it is on the north [... read more] eastern tip of Varadero across from the marina, Some of the complaints of this resort are the same that I heard at the airport , from people , from other resorts -food , towels , maid service, mosquitoes I was there for rest and relaxation for two weeks and I got rest and relaxation, I really have no complaints, I met a lot of other women travelling alone, and was very happy to see that, I did spend a lot of money on tips and I don’t regret it I definitely would go back

Hotel Los Cactus: Nice resort!

We had a pleasant stay at Be live adults only Los Cactus resort. It's an older resort but it was clean andthe grounds had beautiful gardens that were well kept. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. We were booked in a junior suite that was located in an older building. As we entered the air was musty and the hallways were dark and gloomy. We requested an upgrade and were transferred to a superior room in Block D. It was well worth the extra cost that we had to pay. The room was spaciou [... read more]s and quiet and close to the pool and main dining room. The food was hit and miss but overall it wasn't too bad. We went to the A la carte Italian restaurant and we're disappointed with the service. Our waiter did not pay us much attention. We did however enjoy the Air Transat welcome barbecue that was held in the Cuban restaurant. Good food and entertainment! The resort had great nightly entertainment including a Cuban dance show, a Magic show and an Aquatic show which was our favorite. The beaches were fantastic. Will consider returning to this resort but not in April as the mosquitoes were very bad!

Muthu Playa Varadero: Very good resort !!!

3rd time there....will definitely return....nice clean hotel...well taken care grounds...very friendly staff...and of course the beach and the ocean is beautiful.. specially love the grill on the beach....overall it's a good bang for your buck.

Melia Varadero: Great resort, amazing beach, lovely staff

We had a great stay at Melia Varadero. Everything was really pleasing from our room, the resort, the beach and the staff was so attentive and friendly. No complaints at all! However, the food was not as nice. This was our first time in Cuba, so we don't know if this is just the quality of the food overall. The staff did what they could with what they had, but if you are looking for a food experience this may not be it. With that being said, the culture of the people, the unbelievable beaches and the resort and staff was enough to love our vacation and not regret our choice.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Blue water and warm sand

This was our second visit to Laguna Azul. The lobby has lots of comfortable seating with a piano and outside patio looking down at one of the swimming pools and clean landscaping. The buffet is on the bottom floor where the menu stays the same for the most part. It is difficult to prepare food for a full resort of guests so it is not gourmet. My Mom and I had stomach sickness for a couple of days. Thankfully there was bottled water, fruit and cheese to nibble until we felt better. Our room [... read more] was nicely air conditioned which made us more comfortable. Taking a walk through the grounds the birds were singing and small lizards scurrying about. Lounge chairs were available in shade on the beach. As with any resort in Cuba there will be weeks of plenty and weeks when there is less. There are rooms that need maintenance and others that are 5 star. If you want sun and surf it is beautiful. If your priority is the room and food it can go either way. Smile and enjoy the simple things!

Starfish Varadero: Good resort

The hotel ground were nice. There was always someone working to keep the areas clean. The staff was nice, friendly and helpful. The Italian and international a la carte was good but didn't care much for the lobster. The Legends24 hour bar upstairs in the hotel is good change of menu but the food is limited. The buffet restaurant is big, fairly clean seems like there is a bird inside daily sometimes around the food area. Downside of this buffet the food is often cold best bet to go to the cooking [... read more] stations. We were booked for the garden view but when we arrived at the check in we were able to upgrade to the bungalow for free! Love the bungalow so roomy and clean. We heard from others in bungalows that theirs weren't so clean and they were outdated. Pictures on Starfish website are obviously taken a long time ago. Two pools at the hotel, both clean. One is called the quiet pool for "adults only" not informed but was quiet when there wasn't kids around, snack bar was close by and had decent food. The main pool was much larger and loud but nothing out of the ordinary. Downside of the pools they close at 6 seems a little to early.
