Starfish Jibacoa: Amazing resort

We have been at this resort 22 times. The grounds are simply beautiful, the people are amazing, the food is good you will never go hungry, the snorkeling is one of the best spots I have ever done, ready to book again for next year.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: A wonderful resort!

The staff are among the best of any place we've ever been. The beach is perfect & the staff help you to get chairs. First class entertainment- especially Rick & Roll night! Buffets were nicely presented although Cuban resort food tends to be a bit bland for our taste. Definitely a recommended destination*****

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort, food could have been better even for Cuba

Had a great time at this resort. The grounds are well kept, the layout makes everything relatively easily accessible, it was clean, and the staff were very efficient, friendly and professional. It's a pretty quiet and tame resort, which is great if you just want a relaxing vacation. My only reservation was the food. I have been to Cuba many times and know its not the place you go for great food, but I was surprised by the food selection and quality even for Cuba. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Never going back

The hotel was nice and clean. The food wasn't good at all. Eg: My scrambled eggs were floating in water. I found the bartenders were mean to my daughter. Made her wait till they were good and ready. Gave faces like, omg I have to make her another. We tipped well but some of the service was 👎. I got eaten alive by some type of bug, in my room. Had to spray Off around the door every night. Upgraded dinner best lobster and service I've had all servers were very kind quick check in and check out adults only setting for romantic holidays enjoyed every minute smoking permitted mostly every where good for smokers not good for non smokers

Grand Memories Varadero: Not what I expected

I will start off with saying the beach was amazing! Perfect rather. I didn’t expect a lot given it’s not a luxury resort. Room needs new pillows, thicker blankets and thorough cleaning. Housekeeper(s) literally only made the beds. I did tip very well and they even thanked me personally for the gifts I left for them everyday. Though my towels were not replaced in some days and were just hung to dry they did make an effort with those towel design thing so maybe this was a resort thing not a  [... read more]housekeeper issue. The washroom reaked urine some days and the tub was not the cleanest. I have a pet peeve on dirty washrooms so this was definitely a total turn off. My request for top floor was not provided but it was okay except the lock to my balcony door was broken and a piece of wood was placed to lock it which made me feel very uneasy especially when the combination to my safe is written on the mirror, kind of weird so I kept everything in my luggage and locked my luggage everyday. Almost like a get away for people in Montreal or those that speaks French. If you don’t know Spanish or French I will say good luck to you. I wouldn’t recommend it but maybe it was my expectation that failed me. It was my birthday week after all so I attempted everyday to upgrade to a better suite and even The Sanctuary and nothing was available. Sadly, my favourite part was when I left the whole day to go to Havana. I researched reviews to this resort repeatedly before I chose it and it was not at all what I expected.

Melia Marina Varadero: The worst experience with5 star hotel after17 times visit Cuba

IIt is definitely not 5 star hotel ! Hotel Service people in the bar in restaurant don’t speak English at all They are not able to understand what we want In the bar during our 11 days they offed us 4 kinds of drinks no tomatoes juice for Bloody Marry or other stuff for 5 star 2) A la carte in All 4 restaurants there is the same menu ! In reality not in the paper I wonder what is the meaning to come there? No normal entertainment like we always got in 5 star hotel being 17 times in Cuba

Melia Varadero: Excellent resort!

We upgraded to the LEVEL, so it definitely made a difference. Food and service were incredible, separate beach area, a la carte restaurants for lunch and dinner every day, etc. Would definitely go back!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Sunwing Vacations Terrible

The Hotel was fine however trip central had the check in and check out wrong , we arrived at 9 am trip central said check in was at noon , we had to wait until 4 pm,,, long day for not unloading our stuff, or changing and sitting in the heat,also on departure day, we waited in the lounge from 1:30 verified our flight was on time and the bus would pick us up at 5pm . 10 minutes to 5 we found out our flight was delayed for another 2 hours when I asked the sunwing rep what was going on she said it  [... read more]was the weather and there was nothing she was going to do for us , and ran out the door .The hotel was equally not assisting the large amount of people who had spent the day in the lounge. By this time we were exhausted around 7pm we found out the flight had been delayed again another 2hours 4 hours in total. This is ridiculous we had now spent 9 hours in the lounge, When we finally boarded the plane the pilot apologized for the delay , telling us a flight attendant had hurt her ankle and they had to wait for a replacement, which caused the 4 hour delay. Not the weather.!!! Our first and last days were horrible, for a 7 day vacation , paying top dollar it was terrible. I would never use Sunwing vacations again and wonder why we paid top dollar for such poor services.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Rundown resort in serious need of repair

I’ve travelled to Cuba over 17 times now. I know what to expect. People are amazing and the food is normally mediocre at best. Usually, the accommodations are clean and secure. I have been to this resort in particular four times. I’ve returned because I’ve always had a good experience at this resort This time the accommodation was ridiculous. I will list the problems. We had a total of five rooms for 11 people, Two of the rooms had to be changed immediately because one room had [... read more] so much water damage and black mould that it was unbearable. The other room, the bed was infested with ants. We had no problem changing rooms in fact they did not even ask us why… One can only assume that this is such a common practice there that they no longer bother to ask. One of the rooms the safe did not work, At least four of the rooms had no locks on the sliding doors. Another room, there was no control over the air conditioning One of the rooms had no furniture My room in particular had a broken toilet… A sliding door that would not lock and actually would not close all of the way… No light fixture… No place to sit down… A TV that did not work… And I safe that did not work… The spare blankets in the closet smelled so bad that I would have to assume that they had not been washed in over a year The furniture in the buffet was worn and uncomfortable .... they were running out of cups and in fact one of the bars would not allow us to come in and get a drink using their plastic disposable cups if we did not stay in the area to drink it The staff in the buffet was amazing and there was several good servers in the main lobby bar area… Here’s the thing that really amaze me though usually in Cuba the customer service is incredible but for whatever reason at this resort we had several bad experiences with staff they were ignorant sarcastic and sometimes extremely rude… apparently they were unaware of that one of the members of our group was fluent in Spanish !

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very nice

The grounds were lovely and well taken care of. The beach was beautiful and clean, staff available to help you get a lounge and beach activities midday. The rooms were clean and beds comfortable. We did not use the pool. There were 4 bars, always someone friendly available to make your drink. The food was good, buffet had a large variety.. something for everyone. Best of all were the staff, lovely people always available to help and provide great service. We couldn't get all the channels on our  [... read more]room tv, we called the front desk and service came within 15 minutes to quickly resolve the issue. I highly recommend this resort.

Memories Jibacoa: Quaint Small Resort with Great Staff

The resort sits on a very picturesque shoreline with a beautiful lush backdrop of the surrounding hills.The landscaping is immaculate and the pool facilities very well maintained.The beach is beautiful white sand with coral reefs and great snorkeling right in front of the hotel.The tennis courts are in poor shape but the tennis instructor Alberto was great.The resort should consider turning the all purpose court into 4 Pickelball courts as many Canadians go to this resort and are looking for Pic [... read more]kelball facilities. The accommodation are very dated and a bit run down.Booked ocean view 6 months prior to arrival and ended up with pool side!The hotel shutdown the water system after midnight for a few hours for unknown reasons which was very frustrating.The entertainment was by far the best I have see at any 4+ resort!The bar for beverages had excellent service as did all the food venues!The food was at best just OK.The diamond club option was not worth the price!

Be Live Turquesa: Wonderful vacation!

While this may be an older outdated resort they do keep it very clean. The staff are fantastic at this resort, probably the best I have ever had. They are very hard working and dedicated. They made me feel so welcome, comfortable and at ease the entire week. The Italian restaurant is a must try - it was so delicious and service was impeccable. All good things to say about this place and I would definitely return!

Paradisus Varadero: What a great resort!

We went for a week with two children aged 7 and 8. We stayed in the family concierge area. It was an amazing time at a beautiful resort. Clean, solid food for Cuba, and a great, friendly staff that was willing to help. Service times were never slow. The beach was wide and long and beautiful. Always able to find shade at the beach, between all the palapas and palm trees. We would definitely go back. Well done Paradisus!

Memories Jibacoa: Ok resort but amazing staff

On arrival we were told that the ocean front rooms we had booked six months in advance were not available. This was very disappointing to us we were looking forward to seeing the ocean from our balcony. We were given “Diamond club “ status as a token peace offering. This is a $15/day value that I would not recommend paying for as advantages are limited. Rooms and hotel in general are clean and in good shape. Water to the rooms was shut off between midnight and 0530 I’m not sure why but the [... read more]re was no warning and it seemed a nightly occurrence? Staff is amazing , Cuban people are so happy and friendly , family is very important. Alberto at the tennis court was very accommodating and patient with our tennis game and showed us how to play mini tennis.Food is good although one of our fellow travellers became ill on our last day and was prescribed an antibiotic when he returned to Canada. There were a lot of smokers at the resort so don’t expect the rules to be the same as in Canada. Recommend the old car tour into Havana with “Oddetie” sounds like “old lady” ask around for $25 cuc its an all day guided tour in a 1950 Chev. This tour is better.and cheaper than the Sunwing bus trip excursion. Hola

Hotel Tuxpan: Great Times

I have very limited vision so cannot comment on many details. I had a very enjoyable time. Our accommodation and food was very good. I spent most of my time at the wonderful beach and certainly enjoyed our excursion and going into town. Staff were very supportive and friendly.

Grand Memories Varadero: Nice resort, well kept and the staff work very hard to maintain.

I didn't like the food very much. there was lots of it and always available but I found it very bland and because I have a limited diet, there was not a lot for me. I also found that the food was never very warm. Again, the staff were very nice and helpful. The pools and the beach were beautiful and the entertainment staff did a very good job. Overall, I enjoyed my trip but would probably not return to that location.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Lovely people work here

A beautiful resort with beautiful beaches. We had a lovely ocean facing room on the 3rd floor. The people that work there are so nice and hard working. A big shout out to Teresa in the dining room. My only complaint was the stagnant water out front of the lobby by where the main court yard is. Many people had bites and I’m sure that is why.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Not returning

I love Cuba and don't expect much as I go for beach and relaxation. Lovely grounds but for us personally I did not like that there was not a 24 hour snack bar and only late bar was lobby bar. Was not alot to stay entertained in evening at all. Rooms, especially bathrooms need updating but it is Cuba and not much time in rooms. Only main complaint was only one hot shower all week, rest were cold water. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice resort

The grounds were beautiful. The lay out of resort was really good, one of the easiest resorts I have been to, to learn your way around. The beach was one of the best and pools were nice too. There were a few disappointing things. The resort was too big for the size of the lobby bar and common areas. Never a place to sit and the service at lobby bar was not good. Drinks were another disappointment, no drink service on beach and poor drinks at beach bar. Rooms were nice and stalked with towels( most days), mini bar could have a few more options, wouldn’t leave diet cola??? Food was ok, a la carts, pretty good. Buffet was ok, but again, the buffet was too small for amount of people at resort, food good if they cooked fresh, most of the other dishes were cold and not replenished. Good resort for price we paid, would only go back, if I got a good deal, below $1500
