Sunscape Puerto Plata: wonderful resort

I went to the Barcelo Puerto Plata from the 6th of march to the 13th. I found this resort to be a great value for the money I paid. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. I liked that it was compact and easy to find my way around. The buffet always had enough variety, lets just say i didnt lose any weight . The other dining choices were average, but fine. The beach was lovely minus the venders overall it was a great value for the money, rooms dated but clean. Id go back again,if the  [... read more]price was right. Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Great Stay !!

We had a great stay at Casa Marina Reef hotel it has beautiful grounds nice pools in need of a few upgrades but overall worth the money !!! Animation team was great they were very entertaining. Night shows were great !!

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: It's an opportunity of a life time to remember

It's a place you can make your dream come true, we had an amazing time more than we expect, friendly people, always smiling and pleasant , service was great, food all kind what ever you choose it's in there, place very clean and brite, activities and entertainments all kinds it's what ever u want to do with ur time, I wish it for every one to visit this place

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Wonderful staff

The various staff that served us and kept the resort neat and clean were friendly and professional. The rooms were simple but neat. The food was good. In particular the Mexican restaurant was good. The beach area is small.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Great Stay!

My husband and I just returned, and can't wait to go back! Food was great, staff was very friendly and helpful. The only down-fall was the sewer smell that occasionally could be smelt in one part of the resort.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: WONDERFUL RESORT - AWFUL S-TRIP

This was our second trip to the Grand Bahia Principe, San Juan, so we knew the resort. It is spread out, but beautiful, long beach, lots of pools, tons of loungers.........until the students arrived. It was absolutely disgusting. They were loud, drunk, knocking on doors at all hours, throwing up in the dining room, falling off their chairs in the dining room. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Beautiful Resort! Friendly Staff! Loved it!!

This resort was divine. I would definitely go to this resort again. The grounds were beautiful and everyone was so friendly. The beach was beautiful, although the vendors on the beach tried to sell you things constantly, it was as easy as saying no thank you. The food was so delicious.

When you arrive at night ,not sure about it but once past lobby its a little paradise ,rooms just ok ,bring a pillow .grounds are beautiful ,hot tubs in reefs are stunning and food you will not starve

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Hotel very old,service very poor,ocean amazing

If you planning your vacation, and have extra $200-300, please choose something different.This is very old resorts (half hotel under construction),rooms not modern, fridge rusted,condition not working or working a little bit.When I asked to change room, manager on duty told me-you got what you paid for,which is not true. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Average

Please note - I take an all inclusive trip with the girls once a year and have visited ten all inclusive resorts in various areas of the Carribean. The Barcelo is showing its age. Rooms are roomy but damp and old. The restaurants are okay. Same old food being recycled at the buffet. The buffet has limited fruits and the selection gets tiresome. The beach is nice. Plenty of chairs and great for walking. The vendors are always around but you get used to it. I am not a very picky person. I look for [... read more] a good beach, clean rooms and good food. I would not go back to the Barcelo. There are much nicer/better resorts along this strip. We had the misfortune to be at the resort where the S trip kids-(March break -17-18 yr olds - aprox 200 teens) were this year. Wow. Loud,obnoxious and drunk. Everything smelled like vomit after the first day. The next time I book an all inclusive the first question will be if the resort is part of the S trip booking.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Not horrible

The room that we were put in (1216) was the last room on the edge of the property. It was an oceanfront room. It was very dated but was clean. The maids always maintained it so, we wouldn't complain about this. However, the rooms are adjoining and you can hear "everything" from the room next door. I could have been part of their conversations as I heard every word. (And other things) Beach was not the best. It wasn't maintained very well. Also, very trivial but by our room the beach was not used (no deck chairs) so, it was never cleaned up. The a la carte restaurants were the best food. Buffet seemed to be the same things daily. We always found something to eat but, were happy to get home. Mexican restaurant was VERY slow though. It took 2 1/2 hours to have 3 courses. Wifi was an additional charge and can ONLY be paid in cash. This we needed as our children were not with us so we needed to be able to communicate back home. Also, the safe in the room was an additional charge ($3 per day). I did not agree with this but had to pay it as well. All in all, it was an ok vacation. We enjoyed the vitamin D when the clouds were not there and the entertainment staff were excellent.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful clean Resort

My wife and our 17 and 18 year olds had a wonderful time and they made good use of the WIFI. TV in room also carried quite a few US station, so my wife was thrilled to watch Survivor.. Food Buffet was a bounty of choices (beef, pork, chicken, turkey, pasta, seafood, salads, etc... were top rate) and no stomach issues. We ate when we wanted at all hours and didn't get around to the four specialized restaurants that were also free. Even had the opportunity to play a few songs with one of the visiting bands in our adult resort section that made my time even more special..Our bartender at the TIkki bar named Remy made the very best specialized drinks that we've ever had and we felt great every morning. Met many fine folks from Sweden, UK, and few from the US as 90% were Canucks from all over from PEI to Calgary. A few we met have visited the resort over 12 years and said it was better than the Five stars. Friends of mine recommended the place after being there 9 times. The waters were very calm on this side of the island, safe to swim and wade around in the water, nothing to step on that would sting you, sand was clean and was very safe to walk in either direct of the resorts for a long .Pools and beach were clean and safe for the little ones as well.Sun was always at your back so it always nice looking out at the water. Plenty of shade if wanted and plenty of chairs too. Only went on the Dune buggy tour which was a dirty muddy messy blast, but later just chose to just hang around the resort and relax. The kids want to go back again next year! Seven days was not enough, wished I book for 10- 14 days. Only a 4 hour trip each way and 15 mins from the airport. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great Deal for Relaxing in the Sun!

The grounds and rooms were very clean and the food was great. The beach offered alot of natural cover which was very nice but the water was underlined with alot of rock...go to the far end for nicer swimming. Pool was great....and finally a resort that has enough chairs for all guests!

Riu Merengue: Clean Resort

The resort was nice, clean and the staff friendly, the food was ok, plenty of choices. We took in two al la carts and the food was very good, the steak was delicious and the service was great. The entertainment was good, and the entertainers were nice, however one or two of them (I believe one of them was security) were rude and annoying and chased our young adult girls everywhere, we could not leave them alone. The beach was nice, clean and well maintained, but again we had people constantly di [... read more]srupting us to buy stuff etc. We ended up having to get mad and tell them to go away!! Biggest Problem......... we had issues with our room, the air conditioner did not work all week (thank god we had a fan on the ceiling), it overflowed twice, maintenance had to come and drain it after if flooded our room. Our toilet plugged up and our room was full of tiny ants, they were even in my clothing and suitcase. We went 2 days with NO hot water....our kids had two rooms across the hall from us and they did not have any issues with their room except not having hot water..... The last day we had a late flight and the hotel wanted us to pay extra to keep our room so we could shower before our flight. My husband fought that at the front desk and we ended up keeping the room free of charge. We made the best of it and had a nice warm sunny vacation, better than snow!!! Fair enough vacation for the price we paid.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great vacation

The hotel was nice, it was clean, not fancy rooms, but you are only in your room to sleep. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The nightly entertainment was good they get you involved in the dancing.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Was not as good as expected.

We have been there 4 times. This year they added club packages and if you don't upgrade to one of the clubs your needs will not be met. We arrived on Friday afternoon and on Saturday we couldn't get in to one of the restaurants unless we took 9 o'clock at night. We were very disappointed. So be prepared to upgrade or forget it.

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Second Time to Casa Marina Beach & Reef Resort

Just returned from the Casa Marina on March 7-2015, my husband and I were there for 1 week. We had stayed at the Casa Marina back in 2011 so this was our second time at this resort. We both found that the food variety was really lacking. We stayed in room 2512 and it was always clean, but the bathroom needed a "complete" make over. Tub/Shower was stained and needs replacing. We did not do any tours as we did all that back in 2011. We paid $835 per person for one week from Toronto.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Good resort. Great atmosphere.

We enjoyed our stay at the resort. Very friendly people and great food and entertainment. Rooms were dated but clean. Problems with water pressure and temperature. Also safe broke and had to be drilled to get our items out. Workers were great especially Marie in the lobby bathroom.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Fantastic Stay

Fantastic time at the VH. It was our first time at this resort from the moment we checked in to our sad goodbyes it was a great week. The rooms were clean and welcoming with a bar fridge stocked daily with water, pop, and beers of course. There are two pools at this resort one is a quiet pool of you wanted a nice quiet relaxing day with a bar near by, and the main pool had music swim up bar with entertainment hourly. There was a snack bar and drinks available daily until 2 am so you never went hungry . The VH had the the nicest, cleanest beach out of the complex. It was cleaned daily and there were always chairs available. There are vendors on the beach, they were friendly and all you have to say is no thank you and they will not bother you again All and all it was a fun resort to visit, there isn't a lot of night life it does get quiet after the nightly entertainment comes to end. But that doesn't mean you have to end your night. You are able to sit out grab drinks and hang out around the bar or in the lobby. I recommend this resort to all ages and we will defiantly be back!!!!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great retreat from the cold

I was a little hesitant to commit myself to go after reading a few reviews but all the problems were just not there. Buffets were good with a large selection of food for just about everyone.Hotel was a little dated perhaps from the nineties or so but was very very clean and the quality of service staff was above average. The language barrier was a problem but it is their country and efforts were made by everyone to communicate and understand each other.Grounds were immaculate and very well tende [... read more]d.Ocean was very wavy,choppy and had a large amount of seaweed but small clumps and water was warm,I think the weeds were because we were on the north side of the island and it couldn't be helped.Lawn chairs were a problem as ALL people were putting their towels on the chair and using them or hoarding them all day for only an hour or so of use. The secret to getting one is to get out and up between 6 or 7 am and stick a towel on a chair for yourself and then go back to bed.This is a problem whenever you go to any resort or cruise ship.
