Valentin Perla Blanca: Best Customer Service

Girls week away... lots of relaxing down time. Just what we needed. We had the Silver Tran sat deluxe package... well worth it. Robe and slippers in our room... might not seem important. But was well used each day after our shower. Fruit plate, bottle of wine and rum left in the room for us. Free hour of wifi each day for us. WIFI was hit or miss... but a quick check in with those back home was nice. Food was OK, better than I was expecting. Only complain in the buffet was they didn't refi [... read more]ll or replace the empty food dishes quick enough. So many times we went without whatever was in that dish because they didn't come out to replenish it. We didn't bother with any Ala cart dinners. Line up was too big to book them. They should have two employees doing that job. Loved the white roses the ladies gave you at breakfast. Made us smile each day. Beautiful grounds. Good signs to help you get around. Would be nice to have a washroom closer to the beach. Was a far walk to go out to the restaurant to find a washroom. Stunning beach. Great service on the beach for food and drinks. Staff helping you set up the lounge chairs and sweep them off. Like I said great service. Pools were amazing... like no others. We liked the quiet pool. Its great that they have two to offer for those that want to party and for those that want to relax. Rooms were clean and spacious. Great maid service each day. Loved the shower. Plenty of hot water, almost too hot. lol Shows were a little lacking and shall I say amateur like. Dont bother... except Sunday night. You must go see the Michael Jackson show. Unreal. Live entertainment in the lobby each night after dinner. They were all pretty good... but the Friday night guitar player was AMAZING! such a great player, and showman ship. We could have listened and danced to him all night long. He was the only live entertainer that had the crowd going and up dancing. Honestly the only downfall is the hour and 45 min bus ride to the air port. Makes for a long day of travel. We would go back for sure....

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Amazing

Everything was amazing the food the people the pools rooms where very clean , staff was amazing , very nice to everyone the shows where awesome the only thing that I didn't like was all the mosquitoes but either than that everything was amazing I am definitely going back again

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: AMAZING

I would defiantly stay at Hotel Playa again. The staff on the resort are beyond AMAZING and very respectful and meet your needs. The entertainment is perfect and the shows are my favourite part. Defiantly recommend going here!

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Best Resort so far for Cuba

Very pretty resort. Grounds were well kept and food in the reserved restaurants was good. Grilled lobster at the seafood and the romantic restaurants was awesome. Food at buffet was not so great but OK for Cuba. Best to book your reservations directly with the hotel before your vacation as the line ups at the reservation desk is brutal. The rooms are nice and very spacious, but could have been a little cleaner. I had to clean our toilet a few times during our stay as they obviously did not. The [... read more] bathroom door was filthy. One nice touch was your beach towels were in your room so no towel cards or freaking out about losing them. All in all a good vacation. Would recommend to anyone who is OK with spending most or all of their time at the resort as there is not much to do otherwise.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: good resort

Grounds are beautiful ,the staff were very friendly and helpful.The food wasn't top notch but this wasn't a 5 star resort though. The internet was a big challenge to log onto and log out , as result losing your minutes you just purchased.The resort had a lot of renovations going on.I would say in a year this place will be a much different resort.Over all we did enjoy our trip.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Pleasant Stay

The hotel is new and it shows. There were not many people there and service was very good. Only two specialty restaurants open all week. There is not a beach grill and you have to go to the pool area for lunch. Varadero beaches much nicer.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Great resort!

Super staff. I have to specially point out Yailet at Customer Service as she made our stay really special. Beautiful beach, pools, great service, etc. But beds are REALLY hard. Romantico rest. ++++++

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Ocean Casa Del Mar, Santa Maria, Cuba

Great hotel and service. Excellent rooms, most with a view of the ocean on the 2nd & 3rd floors. Food in a la carte's could be better, snack bars & buffet were normal for Cuba. We would return and recommend the resort to friends.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Excellent

L'hôtel était superbe, propre et le service était excellent! Les Restos étaient corrects, et le café au "Mikes" était très bon!!! La chambre était propre et tres belle!! Le Seul point négatif c'est qu'il n'y a pas de toilette près de la plage.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Awesome vacation!

I have been to Cuba several times. And I have to say this was the best food I have had. The resort is amazing. Clean and friendly staff. The beach is amazing when the tide is down there are several sand bars that form on the beach. There was always something to do whether at the beach, lobby or nightly entertainment at the theatre.

Check in: verrrrry long process, front desk was understaffed, slow and not customer service friendly. Even during thier slow times, they were not open to finding solutions without us having to escalate to the air transat rep. The resort: pictures are deceiving. You have to walk through a long un paved/ un even pathway surrounded by bush and trees to get to the beach. When you get there, its very narrow and not like the beaches you're used to seeing in Cuba. Some areas of the beach are l [... read more]argely rocky and when the tide comes in theres no sand to chill on so dont expect any late night strolls on the beach here. Half the resort was shut down so that meant half the restaurants, poor availability of a la carte restaurants and poor flexibility to move to another room in the event of an issue in your room. Many of the bathrooms/toilets didnt work. Lack of hot water for showers and not all the A/C units work. Buffet selection was good, grilled meat station was a hazard as the chicken was never cook properly. The fruit sucked, it was never ripe. Pools were nice, entertainment crew was great. No store/shop on site No visits from vendors along the beach or to the resort for shopping Bell boys were awesome! Shout out to Randy and Lester. Upgrades to ocean view arent worth it becase of all the trees you see before u get to the beach/ocean.

Memories Paraiso: good resort

The hotel has very good landscaping with big variety of plants. The gardeners are amazing! Can't say the same about food: not big choice. Not very convenient counter with trays - just from one side you can pick up from the tray, and it creates the line. the pools are excellent - we were lucky that one part of the resort was under renovation, and we could enjoy the two huge pools without crowds - people prefer the bar near the pool, so we were almost just two of us swimming in these two pools  [... read more]near closed buildings. We paid additional for Diamond Club - it does not worth. The Diamond Club designated beach area is small, you need to reserve your sun beds early in the morning. We were going to the other side to enjoy privacy. For people who like crowds and very lowed music it could be the advantage. beaches are amazing - the best we ever seen in Cuba before. You are entering water not thinking about any rocks that can hurt you. Weeds are there - but they are everywhere, we are not very picky about weeds. At least, they are on the ground, not in water. Cuban guys are doing their best to pick them up every morning manually - it works somehow. The worst thing - bites of some creatures we did not understand if it was mosquitos or something else. We could not see anything, but we are all beaten and itching. We did not notice any fumigation procedures in the hotel as in the other places we were before. Overall, it is good resort, and we can recommend it. Just don't pay additional money for Diamond Club - the room is the same, no significant privileges.

Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Wonderful experience!

We have travelled often to the Islands but never to Cuba. Mainly because of all the negative reviews about Cuba. Well we loved the Valentin Perla Blanca. The rooms were beautiful with all amenities. Beautiful grounds. No bugs! The food was great....and lots of variety ... The Cuban people are kind, and warm. Pleased to help you at any time. Try their very best to please you, and help you. Playa Cayo Santa Maria: A rare negative review for us

Lets start with the positives. The beach and weather were fantastic. The staff other than the front desk were always courteous and provided great service. Each of us got sick a couple of times during our stay. The first time we attributed it to chicken either less than cooked or had been sitting out too long. We were both down for an entire day. One of us got sick on the salads (perhaps washed with water that wasn't purified). The other time was at the Italian restaurant. Generally the buf [... read more]fet never changed at all for the entire week. We only had hot water 3 days out of seven. We also had negative experiences at the front desk. We arrived at about 10 am and our room was not ready until 5 pm. We had friends staying at another hotel so I went to check at the front desk to see if there were any messages for us and was told no before I even told her what room we were in. The second time I asked which was a day later I was also told no right away and the person didn't check anything before answering.

I was really impressed with Hotel Playa Cayo Santa Maria. The hotel room is very clean. Nice lobby. All the staff are friendly. I really enjoyed watching the show at the teatro. 😊 I will definitely consider going back to this hotel. Overall experience was great.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Pleasant Stay

Third time to Cuba, first time in Cayo Santa Maria. Playa Cayo Santa Maria is a very typical Cuban resort. We had an enjoyable stay, but the resort is definitely seeing signs of weathering, understandable in the tropical climate.The buffet food was typical Cuban fare, highlights were the omelette, pizza, donut and crepe stations. The sandy beach area was a little small, as there was a rocky shelf that separated the water from the beach chairs. The turquoise water was still amazing. Sol Cayo Santa Maria: good value for the money

i liked it better when it first opened,i was there in 2002 and the animation team they had then got people up and doing things and the place wasn't run down.there wasn't many people at the resort so easy getting things you wanted,the staff was friendly and helpful.it seemed like the staff was mostly young people just learning how things were to be done.i didn't get the rooms i asked for so that started my time there on a bad note but the rooms i got were good and joined together and they explain [... read more]ed to me that one of the rooms i wanted i could have but the joined room was under construction at the moment.i did meet up with a couple of the staff i knew from before so that made the trip worth while.maybe next time i might try one of the other newer resorts in that same area.

Melia Las Dunas: Good Resort for $$

This was my second visit in the past year. Part of the resort was closed and looked like upgrades were happening all over the resort. Room and service was very good. Only complaint was the hot water was inconsistent- sometimes warm at best. Food was very good. The omelette and pasta station were awesome and the grilled chicken at the Beer Garden was very good. I would visit this resort again.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: very kind hearted and caring lifeguards

I would like to commend and thank the 2 lifeguards who assisted me when I dislocated my knee cap while on the beach...unfortunately, I was not able to get their names... as for the hotel amenities, it is ok...except that there are a lot of crawling insects on the floor of the room where they have transferred me to after the accident...and sometimes the flush is not working...otherwise it is ok... Valentin Perla Blanca Paraiso: Nice resort, great people!

The resort is only a couple of years old so they still have some kinks to work out. Overall, the place is well kept and the rooms are nice and clean, spacious and mostly everything works. We had issues with the water, no water for a few days or very poor pressure and sometimes no hot water at all. Pool is very nice and it is GREAT that this is an Adults only resort, nice to sit around relax and not hear screaming kids! The food was not bad but they had problems running out of things at the snack bar and not all restaurants were open even though it was after November 1st. We did the privilege club so worked better for us because we had more A la carte meals which was better since the food there was much better than in the buffet. The people were amazing, we loved all the staff in the Privilege lounge especially Jiordano and Alberto....great service all the time all around from everyone! We will definitely go back but they do need to improve their buffet food, the issues with running out of stuff and overall availability of services.
