Melia Marina Varadero: The worst experience for the last 17 visits

It was the worst experience with 5 star hotel IT IS DEFINATELY NOT !!!! Service stuff don't speak English at all There are 3-4 drinks in real menu in the bar( even for 14 days never tomato juice ) A la carte in all 4 restaurants there was the same menu and terrible quality

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Old resort needing upgrading

Not a fancy resort but a very beautiful beach, not enough lounge chairs for beach goers, food was the same everyday, large “swamp” in middle of resort with koi fish not attractive, patio door for room broken. Will not return to this resort

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Nice, Quiet Resort

Small resort, great for a quiet vacation. Rooms were clean and modern. Pool area was nice, extra umbrellas are brought out during the day. Beach is beautiful, but rocky close to the entrance to the hotel. Walk down towards the volleyball court to enter the water. All shaded chairs were reserved with towels very early in the morning, but they were adding more shade the week we visited. Never had to wait for drinks. Buffet had a good variety of food each night. Restaurants were good, and no  [... read more]reservations needed, but if you want to eat early show up before they open. Carey Restaurant is not a buffet, and was only open for lunch. Entertainment staff was almost non-existent, and evening shows were underwhelming. They had some good bands playing in the lobby bar in the evenings. Grounds were well kept, and maintenance was ongoing.

Palma Real: Reasonably Decent for Cuba Standards

The grounds/gardens were lovely and maintained]\ The grounds, gardens, public areas were good, maintained. A little bit of a walk to the beach but I was fine with that as the beach was beautiful with the unfortunate exception of tourist littering despite plenty of garbage receptacles available. Room was okay for Cuba as I had to be reminded of that, very old and would have liked maid service to be of better quality. Disappointed th [... read more]at although there was a coffee machine in the room, there was no coffee. Dining was reasonable, managed to find enough to eat despite food allergies, kind of lacked variety from day to day. I would have preferred a commercial toaster as I had brought my own bread which needs to be toasted, so I was disappointed and surprised about that as they offered a variety of fresh breads/buns. Hospitality/service staff were great, friendly, accommodating, they even replaced my room fridge with one that worked which was needed due to food allergies. Parks, restaurants, bars, entertainment, shopping, etc all within walking distance.

Resonance Blu Varadero: 9th time there and they never disappoint!!

As always every time we go to Memories it is just like coming home. The staff are so very friendly and will go above and beyond to help you! A special thanks to Arletti and Amari for all their help ! Will definitely keep coming back to this wonderful resort!

Roc Barlovento: Quiet, well run Resort

Spent a lovely relaxing week at the Barlovento. This well run, small Adult-only Resort is within the town of Varadero itself, so it is easy to walk around, visit local cafes or the Artisan Market. This is not one of the "Party Resorts" so you can rest undisturbed or take a short taxi ride to Calle 62, Beatles Bar area if you do want to dance & Party. Melia Varadero: Melia varedaro review

Hotel is very efficient. Great check in/ out, food services, etc... Good location. Beach beautiful and clean. Only disappointment was the rooms. Very dated, old blankets, washrooms, and balcony (door didn't;t work )... Felt like need a big overhaul

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Nice Resort

The grounds were very nice and clean. The layout of the resort was very nice with the restaurants and bars were close together. The rooms ok. We only got clean towels once. The beach is beautiful and water was amazing. Downside would be, there was not enough places to sit in the evening. Lobby bar always full and hard to find a seat for entertainment. Staff not friendly as we are used to at other resorts. I would recommend to friends but would consider this more of a 4 star than a 5.

Starfish Jibacoa: 10 Times and Will Return

Every year we have gone we notice those little improvements that make this resort better and better. Gardeners work very hard to make it spotless. Alot of painting to the outside has been done in the past year. Rooms have been updated. BUT it continues to be the staff that puts this resort at the top of the list.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: First trip to Cuba

This was a first trip to Cuba, we visited April 4, 2019 for 1 week with family. The room was nice and clean and we did not have issues other than did not always get a good supply of towels and had to ask for extra water. I found the service very slow and the food was not the best and ALWAYS cold. I feel the buffet could be better organized as line ups waiting for food and a lot of people standing around waiting for a hamburger. When you have an issue at the front desk they send you downstairs  [... read more]to customer service, when you arrive they are lovely but have no idea why front desk refer you to them and send you back to front desk. Customer service really needs to be worked on. The beach was beautiful and the gentlemen down at the beach always offered to help find you a chair which was great. Bug bites were crazy, never experienced this before well on vacation, myself and family all were bitten badly. The entertainment was good, during our visit there was a rock and roll show which was exceptional. Smoking - there is no designated smoking areas on this resort which I found very disturbing and people were smoking everywhere and it was hard to get away from it. Overall, not a bad resort but not sure I will visit Cuba again, just felt the service, food and smoking issues were enough to make me question visiting again in the near future.

Hotel Bella Costa: Awesome Time

Bella Costa is definitely doing work to improve the resort. The grounds are kept up and beautifully maintained. We were out in the Villas and our room was amazing. This was our 14th year there and we love it. The beach is amazing and the food is great. That’s all we care about is beach, room, drinks and food. That’s all you need.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: "ok"

It was nice to get away with my wife. I would have rather spent more money and gone somewhere else. No need for me to comment, just read through trip advisor. A lot of the negative ones are spot on. Resort is a 3 Star in a global context. Maybe a 4 for Cuba, not their fault. Economically they are getting the shaft and it shows.

Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Good bang for your buck!

Clean, well laid out resort. At times, staff seemed indifferent but some were great...especially at main lobby bar! Beach was awesome and they recently built 15 new palapas for the beach so lots of options for shade. Really neat sand bar not too far out so you can walk along the beach while staying cool in the water. Rooms are spacious and everything worked. Food is what you would expect from Cuba...inconsistent but you can always find something good and you will not starve! I recommend the pasta and if u can get pesto take it, but not often available, grilled chicken and fish is good. Overall it was a bit better than expected. Went for beach, sun and relaxation, and this place delivered.

My 3 friends and I just returned from a week at this resort. We are a group of well seasoned travellers and have been to Cuba many times. The resort itself is fine, in my opinion needs to do some work to earn and keep a 4 star rating. We have always enjoyed the people at the various resorts we visit, this year being the exception. Many other reviewers mentioned the indifference the staff treated guests with and I didn’t invest much in that position until I experienced the same. Others have  [... read more]shared that a tip doesn’t necessarily improve service and they are correct. We almost had to go out of our way to make the staff pleasant to us. Of course this isn’t true of all staff but enough so that it became a topic of discussion both for us and other travellers. The positive is that the beach is beautiful, the water is heaven and we know they read the reviews because on our last day they were building about 15 more palapas. The al a cart restaurant service needs work, the food at most needs work. We did go to the oriental more than once, not because the food was Asian in anyway but it was good! We thoroughly enjoyed the fresh fish every day. The buffet is tired but no one was going to starve. The rooms were pleasant, clean and our housekeeper Lysa was lovely. Mini bar never filled and we were advised if you want it filled you should leave money in the fridge. We didn’t test this. I went to the spa in order to be able to write a review for others as I felt most reviews missed this. I visit the spa at every resort I visit and this one was the least enjoyable. The “Therapeutic” massage I had was very relaxing and the therapist was delightful I’m sorry I missed her name. They advertise “free” use of the spa facilities with every service purchased and advertised a water circuit. This turned out to be a shower, a steam room and a sauna. Hardly hydrotherapy in my opinion. The most discerning part of my spa experience was being escorted to the front desk to pay my bill because they felt I was going to somehow cheat them out of paying. This is inexcusable. The last sour taste in our mouths was not the fault of the hotel but the airport was abysmal. I have been to this airport about 3 times and each time is worse than the last. We are not likely to return to varadero let alone this hotel.

Melia Las Americas: Excellent option in Varadero!

As a seasoned traveller to various areas of Cuba, I found the grounds of the Melia Las Americas beautiful and very well kept. The buffet as well as the 3 alacartes I experienced were all quite good. The service overall was as expected, attentive and cheerful staff. The beach was clean, plenty of loungers and umbrellas so no need to rush in the morning (huge perk). The easy access to the market next door, Varadero town, and Havana excursion were bonuses. Overall, an awesome experience at a great [... read more] hotel and highly recommend.

Hotel Bella Costa: Great place for vacation

We have been there 7 times and love going every year. The rooms are clean and there is always lots of food to chose from. The beach is fabulous and there are lots of things to see and do while in Varadero. Our only disappointment this time was the hit and miss of the service in the restaurants. I would recommend anyone trying.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Great spot

Very nice spot. I highly recommend the Adult side only for this resort. If your a family the take that side. Want own privacy do Adult only. Great staff ,pools hotel management. Rooms always clean and bar fridge stocked.

Roc Arenas Doradas: Clean, well-maintained, fun resort

We were very happy with our accommodations. We were in a newly renovated block with easy access to lobby, pool, restaurants and the beach. Rooms were large, bright and comfortable. Bathroom was amazing! Very clean and well-maintained.

Blau Varadero: Great resort

Very satisfied with our early March stay at the Blau vardero , beautiful building with a very good lay out , service was good ( wedding planner did a very good job ) Food was excellent every day and a great selection . Plenty of room around pool never a issue to find chairs or a place to relax in and out of the sun . Beach was beutiful with lots of seating and activity’s . The multiple bars and bbq areas for lunch were also good staff were very freindly.
