Playa Costa Verde: good resort to relax

resort is kept clean, rooms are also clean, buffet is repeating a lot, but hey - we didn't get sick and we were not hungry, just very simple food, entertainment in the evening was so-so, some ok some not so. we went there to relax and enjoy the beach and that was great.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort

First time in Cuba and it was amazing, starting from Shanon at Tripcentral, she helped a lot. The resort was beautifully located staff very friendly food at alacarte Resturants was good buffet was OK as the selection keep s changing but if you r not a picky eater u will be OK. Again the free excursion was great and will recommend to buy the holiguin plus excursion. Will recommend everyone to go if you get it for $474. I paid that and trust me it was well worth it

Sol Turquesa Beach: average resort

The hotel was ok the food was terrible anything in the steamers were cold they had the machine drive around and release pesticide in the air for the bugs while eating in the buffet restaurant was not impressed. There were too many stairs and saw cockroaches in the lobby floor and in our room would not go back to this resort.

Brisas Guardalavaca: unforgettable !

We booked one week Sept 19th as a last minute whim. We were so happy with the result that it was definite an unforgettable trip! Firstly, in my opinion, Holguin is the best area in Cuba to vacation as a couple. It is not a spring break/party destination, nor a fun park for kids. The weather and beaches combination is by far the best in Cuba. As for Brisas...it is not the most luxurious site in the area..but it is romantic, fun, cozy, clean and has everything you need for a vacation. The staff an [... read more]d service are great. The food is good, the pool may not be enormous, but is large enough for everyone. In short, you may find places with more restaurant, bigger pool, more rooms, etc... but trust me, you do not need more. Definitely a great 4 star place to put on top of your list.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Perfect holiday

Just returned this morning. Perfect place to relax and enjoy beach. Staff excellent and surprisingly no pressure felt to tip. They seem to enjoy their work and are grateful to have the opportunity to be employed. Entertainment good thanks to Albert and the crew. Rooms need renovating but common places are well maintained. Congrats to gardeners the landscape is impeccable, it's not easy working outdoors in the heat and these are people who we tend to forget to tip.

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: ppppffff

I was expecting a nice place and good food. There was a great beach, but a ugly cuisine. Now I don't want to go again. The airport was horrible.... People was friendly and helpful. The beach was the best.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: paradisus rio de oro

grounds very beautiful, staff very helpful. food fantastic, pool clean and lots of areas to sit with friends or just by yourself. rooms very spacious and out door shower was the best, only downfall was the air conditions in the rooms not cool enough. and could you ceiling fans in areas.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Riu playa turquesa. Cuba

The hotel was very nice, people super friendly and always willing to help. the low price was a bonus. The weather was great, sunshine all week. I enjoyed my week there and definitely go back. :) love Cuba

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Great beach resort

We are two couples who just returned from a week at the Blau and it was a great holiday! We really enjoyed snorkeling off the beach last year when we stayed next door at the Playa Costa Verde but did not like the entertainment there (can't stand these fashion shows every second night as well as the chamber music??). We decided to try the Blau as we were told the entertainment was much better there and we were not disappointed. The shows were very good. Our only complaint is that they should hav [... read more]e some dancing music after dinner until show time like they have at most resorts. It would be nice to dance under the stars as we have very little chance to do that at home! We did not upgrade our rooms but they were fine, the maid service was excellent and the location was ideal as we like to be close to everything and the VIP buildings were far from the beach and buffet. One concern though was how dark the hallway was - we could hardly read our room no. in the evening - it could be a safety issue - most of the lights were turned off (to save money??). The lobby and public bathrooms do need renovations - they are in bad disrepair - broken door locks, missing toilet seats. The food at the buffet and the a la carte restaurants was tasty varied. On the weekend though - the line-ups at the buffet were long because of the local Cuban families visiting. It was also much noisier at the shows. It must be very crowded in the winter. We would not stay there in the busy season. All in all it was a great stay and good value for our money!

Playa Costa Verde: Excellent Resort for the value

As a repeat customer, we were treated very nicely. This courtesy was surprisingly extended to our friends who were travelling with us. The restaurant reservations were done for us prior to our arrivals and there was a special dinner for repeat customers. One couple had been back more than 25 times. The hotel room was clean and well kept. The maid did a very good job after the mess we made back from the beach. The beach is quite clean, and even non-swimmer like me felt comfortable playing in the  [... read more]shallow water. There is a few rocky spots but it provides habitat from some small fish. You can see them swimming beside you. The staff at the watersport were very helpful and they made sure that whatever my family/friends did was safe and enjoyable. The food at the restaurants was very good. The buffet food was adequate but we did enjoy the grilled seafood and fruits The birds at the buffet were a bit of a nuisance. The staff were courteous and their service was good. We did enjoy coffee and non alcoholic drinks at the lobby bar. The staff there worked very hard to service their customers. Entertainment was good if not spectacular. We did enjoy the piano music at the lobby. Overall we had a good time at the resort

Brisas Guardalavaca: The cuban hotel.

This hotel is average at best. During the weekend there where lots of cubans in the hotel which made it into a busy loud place, which I personally did not care for. The food was boring stewed stuff or you had to stand in line. I tried that a couple of times but it was not worth the wait.. For fresh salad items there was only cucumber and cabbage, no lettuce no tomato no peppers no onions. Two of the pools where green and murky the first half of our stay. Best place to be was in the air conditioned coffee bar, a nice stylish place for excellent coffee and cocktails, unfortunately instead of some nice soft music there is a tv, set to a spanish movie channel, like I need harry potter in spanish during a romantic after diner drink with my wife.

Don Lino Hotel: Amazing value. Clean, great people.

My wife eeand I had a great week at Don Lino! We would go back in a minute. It was our 6th trip to Cuba. Don Lino is recently renovated, but a simple resort. Great place for relaxing vacation. Beautiful beach. Food was as good if not better then what we've seen at higher rated resorts. Don Lino is hidden gem.

Playa Pesquero: Lovely Resort

Beautiful landscaping, interesting design and metal pieces Beach needs new or repaired sun shelters (palapas) Appreciated the frequency of shuttle transportation We felt the staff needed more opportunities to cope with the heat and sun eg. available drinking water, sun shade, seating when standing for long periods of time

Paradisus Rio De Oro: rest and relaxation

The hotel personnel were extremely helpful and friendly. The amount of people that were at the site at this time was lower then usual so some of the restaurants were closed on some days. The food was acceptable. the Japanese restaurant was great. The private beaches are private for guests only, but they are PUBLIC beaches for people living in cuba, they cant use your beach material but the beaches are open to them. For 115v electricity outlet , there is only one in the hair dryer in the bathroom [... read more] all the rest is 220. so bring a converter or be prepares to use the one outlet Be prepared to walk or take the cars which come very quickly. In my opinion the best of the rooms is the master suite with ocean view DO not limit yourself to what is on the menu, ask for pancakes, eggs, anything you may want, but ask, even if it is NOT on the menu. Travel from the airport to the hotel is about 1.5 hours, but you get a flavor of the life in Cuba Exchange to cuban currency can be done at 2 places either at the bank or at the concierge (with a premium) note: if you fly sunwing and you are offerred the VIP lounge on your way home. do not be fooled by the picture of what is served in the lounge. it is nicely air conditioned and drinks are available but the food is just some coldcuts, some rolls and some other side additions, The alcohol on the way home is very cheap, so take note of brands that you want to get and the local price before you go Cuban cigars can be purchased at the hotel, relatively inexpensive

Playa Costa Verde: Great resort- Had great weather in Sept.

The grounds at the resort were very well cared for. The public areas were well maintained- no garbage left. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The food was great! We tried all of the a la carte restaurants which were fantastic as well as the buffet. Beach was great although it was a little walk to get to.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Amazing

La villa was great ,food excellent, just a bit sad that some how my tylenol and my tums for ardburns some how disappear of my night table no big deal just had to wait to come back to toronto to get my pills !!!! Puff !!!!! I made it. Other than that it was an amazing trip one little ofservation the shower a bit difficult to regulate the water but no big deal.

Brisas Guardalavaca: GREAT PLACE

i've travelled to a few places in cuba but this has been the best place yet, very friendly people, food is good and entertainment far the best! i would highly recommend this resort!just sit back and relax, lots to do if u wish!!! i will return! it's worth the ride about 1 1/2 hrs to resort!

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: worth only once

Good resort, we checked in PLUS section, which is way better than the regular. Rocky beach. Good place for snorkeling. Food was not that great for first couple of days and then quality improved may be because of British tourist. Staff was very cooperative. Pool was in great shape. Plus section is more quieter.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: wonderful place

Beautiful place this was the second time staying here had an ocean view this time I really recommend oceaview it is amazing staff are very friendly and helpful food is good cannot wait to go back we love it here

Playa Pesquero: Terrific!

Attended resort for a destination wedding. When first arrived greeted with champagne, however, non wedding guests helped themselves. Shame on you. Grounds were well groomed. Room - grand & spotless. Food a bit of a culture shock but made to order and a la cartes were excellent. Coffee, lobby & pool bars - a real treat. Came home with a great tan and well relaxed. Get lots of pesos for tips.
