Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Extremely disappointing!

We were under the impression we were booking a 4.5 stars resort. This resort is a far cry from that. It is barely a 3. Restaurants were continuously running out of items from their menu ( down to butter for your bread and orange juice for breakfast and so on). And what was served was either very bland, over cooked ( charred lobster tails) and most of the time cold. Our rooms were musty smelling ant the patio door did not lock...we were on the ground floor. There was not enough chairs at the poo [... read more]l, people were smoking in the pool and they would run out of dry towels daily. Some staff were quite friendly but many made you feel like you were bothering them. Washrooms in common area would run out of toilet paper regularly and the hand dryers broken...never any paper towels. Cappuccino machine was broken in main lobby, air conditioning in piano bar was also broken and the draft machine at the pool also broke. The only positive I can give is the entertainment at night was decent. My advice is stay away from this resort!!!

Be Live Turquesa: Horrible resort.

Rooms were very old musty and dirty not maintained. Maid service was very poor, same soiled dirty towels were given back after putting them on the floor to be changed. Rude bartenders in the evening in main lobby bar.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Amazing resort

This is our 5th or 6th time to this resort. We do love the resort which is why we keep going back. There are some things that needs attention. The gym equipment that was broken last year is still broken this year but maybe not a lot of ppl use the gym. Other than that I have no complaints. Iberostar Origin Tainos: My vacation

I'd like to start by saying the staff are all very friendly and willing to help and get to know you. Very happy people and I don't want my review to reflect badly on the staff. The resort is older, and run down which did not bother me much, it was things I observed. It had to do with cleanliness of the resort. I observed very little maintenance being done on the grounds, walk ways are dirty, would not walk them bare feet, the pool area at night wasn't swept or dishes picked up, you would often s [... read more]ee dishes from the day before still sitting there. Garbages alone the walk way weren't emptied on a regular basis. We saw the pool being cleaned only once during our week long stay, and they cleaned it at 2 in the afternoon while people were trying to swim. They should have signs up requiring all babies and young children to wear swim pants. We watched families in the pool with infants wearing no bottoms, very unsanitary for infant and fellow swimmers. I also don't think the cleaning staff has been trained properly on how to clean. We watched them retrieve their water, for washing and cleaning, from a pool or fountain of stagnant water. This was used to wipe down bathrooms and mop floors. They also used the same rag to wipe toilets, sinks, and then wash floors with, then move on to the next washroom. Practices like this can make people very sick and transmit diseases. In the dining area, the table cloths were dirty, not sure how often they were even changed. Some meals we could end up checking 10-15 tables before we found a clean one. In the Buffett area, there were not enough serving utensils and people were using tongs from one dish to another, this brings up issues of severe food allergies to fish, nuts etc. I also watched a cook using tongs on vegetables to transfer to a grill then use same tongs on raw chicken.. He then placed the tongs on top of the raw vegetables. Raw Meat sat out for long periods of time at the out door snack bar, not refrigerated or on ice. Also saw an open box filled with diner rolls sitting abanded out side the laundry shack waiting to be delivered and no one around except the birds. We did hear a lot of people complaining about stomach issues which could have been because of these observations. Staff should be made aware of cross contamination. The rooms, very sparse and uncomfortable furnishings, two wooden chairs,and one was broken. The bottom of the doors need to have a sweep on them to prevent animals from entering the room. (Found a cockroach in our room, as well as little lizards ) I feel a lot of these issues can be resolved with proper training. I did hear gossip that they were under new management, I hope they can turn things around .. At the current time I would not recommend this resort to anyone.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Very disappointing

The food, the service and the attitude of the employees is terrible. Many things were broken (shower head, patio door didn’t lock...) Many food items from menus were unavailable. Lots of cross contamination in buffet ie: same spoon for many dishes, no serving utensils for tomatoes and lettuce so people used their hands. Employees seldomly smiled and seemed offended when we complained about the service. Restaurant service was extremely slow ( 45 minutes for a sandwich) . Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Beautiful Oasis

Lovely resort within a resort. Suitable for older vacationers. Peaceful poolside, and Varadero Beach is breathtaking. Caters to return guests. If looking for a lively spot, not the place. Would recommend for a quiet couple getaway

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Nice Resort

The resort was beautiful, the rooms were kept clean, but I found the rooms damp. I must say for Cuba the food was good, very tasty not bland. The beach is beautiful, the only problem I had with the beach is the size, it’s not big enough for the capacity of people this resort accommodates. Overall we had a good stay at the Iberostar Bella Vista.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: 15th Anniversary

Disappointed! We’ve been in Cuba 4times and we always stayed 3 to 4 star resort overall we don’t have any issues we always been a happy campers. But since my husband and I celebrated our 15th anniversary we decided to pick 5 star resort for change so we have high expectation but turned out into a big disappointment. Bar lobby was okay if you’re not a smoker avoid hang out on the lobby area. Pool area was great but daily activities sucks it’s good for senior citizens. Nightly entertainment sucks! Only one night show was good out of 7nights of stay. Beach was BEAUTIFUL but lots of seaweeds that’s acceptable. Notice the sandbar was high plus bush trees grew along the sandbar so block the ocean view. Overall I’ll rated this resort 3.5 out 5 star. Not going back and also not highly recommended.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Wonderful atmosphere!

We had a wonderful time at PPDM! The service was great, the food was high quality, and the resort itself was stunning. Would definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely be back in the future! Luis David and Alejandro from the Piano bar were excellent servers and made our stay even better. Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Very nice resort!

This resort is very big! The beach is beautiful and well maintained. We had to change rooms the first night as our room had no safe and our shower head was not mounted to the wall. We spoke with Kensy at guest services and he was quick to act and get us a nice new room for the following day! Kensy was great and all of the staff were very friendly. The food was typical food for resorts in Cuba so it was just okay. We found that this resort didn't staff the bars properly and only ever [... read more] had one bartender in the lobby bar. Even when there were 20+ people waiting for a drink. The pool bar was better with two bartenders on each side. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were excellent and the grounds were well maintained!

Roc Arenas Doradas: Lovely Resort

The reviews for this hotel are extremely accurate. To sum it up, this is a smaller resort with easy access to everything. The food is quite good, especially if you like fresh fish, and the service is very good as well. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The coffee bar is to die for, best coffee I've ever had on vacation. They work very hard there. The beach is just stunning and you can walk a long way on it. Always a place to sit at both beach and pool and lots of shade. The rooms are a great size although there isn't anywhere to unpack your clothes so we just lived out of the suitcase for the week. They are generous with bottled water but no beer/pop is available for your fridge. You have to buy it from the store. For the most part, you have to get your own drinks, there isn't service around the pool or beach except at the beach restaurant. Even in the lobby it's mostly self-serve which is completely fine, good to get up and move. I've been to the Caribbean 18 times now and this resort falls somewhere in the middle range. I enjoy quiet pools so I wouldn't go back to this resort but do recommend it for anyone who doesn't mind the loud, party vibe. A few negatives were that although we had a coffee maker in the room, there were no filters or coffee. To buy a few packs for the machine, they wanted 6 pesos. So we filled a large bubba with coffee everyday from the coffee bar and filled the pot and just tipped well. Lack of soap. The beach restaurant is a buffet and there was no soap 6 of 7 days in restroom. I travel with hand sanitizer which came in handy. Overall the resort is lovely but while we were there, it got very rowdy in the pool so we spent all of our time at the beach to avoid it.

Melia Marina Varadero: Interesting resort

Some grounds painted and kept up. Being a newer resort , it was very run down. Missing a phone in room, safe not working, light bulb missing in room, and most funny toilet seat too small for the toilet. Food was fair,restaurant not recommended. Tours to the city of habana and veradero was awesome.

Melia Las Antillas: Great value!

Have to admit we had a bit of a rocky start. The man at the front desk was not friendly when we checked in, the room was very outdated and worn (especially the bathroom) and because of the later hour our first meal at the buffet was cold, tasteless and mushy. All subsequent meals at the buffet were much improved, good service and the omelette stations at breakfast were great. The beach is one of the most spectacular we have ever been on and the pool was large with lots chairs for all. Plenty of palapas on the beach too, but late comers were sometimes out of luck. This was our 11th all-inclusive vacation and many very fancy resorts had inadequate pool chairs and palapas. Our drinks were always cold, even the beer, and well prepared so very happy with that also. We really enjoyed the little beach bar close to the beach and the bartender there (can’t remember his name) gave awesome service! So, despite our rocky start the Las Antillas quickly won us over. Even though our room may have been very worn, the maid service was great, the bed was comfortable, lots of hot water and everything in the room worked perfectly, even the fridge! Would definitely go back if the price remains reasonable, the Cuban people are wonderful!

Muthu Playa Varadero: It was ok

Seemed more like 2 stars instead of 4. The rooms weren’t nice the hotel wasn’t nice.... everything was old looking. The entertainment was dry and boring. It was just whatever, definitely was not wowed at all.

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Mediocre resort

Grounds were well taken care of. Rooms were large enough but lacking facecloth, paper, pen, water. Cleanliness was satisfactory. Food was barely satisfactory; many food items not available, even when offered on the menu. Pool area had very limited number of chairs. Outdoor entertainment was very good.

Melia Marina Varadero: Beau resort!!

Nous avons passé une très belle semaine,du 4 au 11 avril,la température était très belle ,nous avons eu 2 minutes de pluie!La plage était très belle,la piscine aussi,nous avons aimé la nourriture au buffet,les plats étaient toujours pleins donc pas attendu pour du pain etc,notre chambre était très bien entretenue,le frigidaire toujours plein mais n'oubliez pas de mettre un tip sur le lit et dans le frigo!!ils le méritent! Resonance Blu Varadero: Very entertaining resort

The hotel lobby was great. Not enough selection of food in smaller restaurants and food wasn’t very good Beach was amazing Staff was so entertaining and so friendly and kind. My room needed to be fixed up. Too old. The shower head has no place to be hung My phone didn’t work and when I told them about it they said they would check it out but didn’t. Starfish Varadero: Amazing resort!

This hotel was gorgeous! The beach is breathtaking. Our room was so nice, and our balcony was huge! The air conditioning kept us cold all night! The staff were sweet and helpful. There were many activities to do throughout the day! We would recommend going snorkeling it was unbelievable! We liked that there was 2 pools, one was a party pool and the other a quiet pool. My girlfriend loved the gym! The food was good! We will definitely be back to Starfish Varadero :)

We loved this resort...the people were great,food was good, hotel clean only problem with hotel 220 not 110 for sleep apnea machine...would go again...flight was terrible .stewardess nice..seats tight

this was definately not a 5 star resort as advertised, service was terrible, we have been to cuba 7 times I n the last 12 years, and had great service but not at this resort, they only stocked the roomfridge if you put money in the fridge, coffee maker in the room; but they do nt supply coffee, we talked to several people who wont go back , it was advertised with 2 hot tubs, neither worked at all the whole week, they ran out of food every day at the 24 hour restaurant, buffet was the same every [... read more] day, no international drinks as advertised, so many wait staff didn't speak English and when we went to change money, they would only give 5 or 10s, no 1s or 3s, it was like it was on purpose so tips would be bigger. so no never going back to this resort , the best thing was the beach and weather, but we had that in jamaica in January plus great food, great accommodations, great service and only a couple hundred dollars more.
