Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Very happy with my 1st Iberostar experience

Overall I enjoyed our stay. We were there from Feb 12 to 19, 2016. Very impressed with Iberostar as a resort destination. I will definitely pick an Iberostar resort for future bookings. The only complaint is that the Dominican Republic continues to sink lower in my choice of islands to visit. The water is not potable. The resort is very safe but we were warned about venturing off the resort. The resort is extremely clean, but once you are off the resort it is quite depressing to see all the garb [... read more]age. Food, pool, beach, staff were all very good. The nighttime entertainment is not that great unless you really enjoy watching another Michael Jackson impersonation. A piano bar would be a great addition!

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Typical Cuban resort

The grounds are very nice ,beautiful beach can go either way for a nice long walk. The room was alright no dresser for clothes,and only 7 hangers in the closet. Maid cleaning could have been better after the 4 the day never gave us clean towels when she took the dirty ones away, The lobby bar ran out of pineapple liqueur after the3rd day in ,but the resort store had a case of it ,and Cuba is the only place you can get this . Food was adequate never went without.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: good and bad

the resort is very lush and beautiful to look at . the gardeners do a fantastic job the spa pool area is clean and quiet, easy to find a lounger and alberto is there to help with any request you have. The drinks flow freely although there is only 1 working washroom stall the beaches are the best , no coral or rocks , no need to watch where you put your feet in the water. the waiter service on the beach is a bonus The lobby is lively at night but after 11 it is quiet with no other choices for act [... read more]ivity so its early to bed the room is big but not as clean in the corners as i like the linens are old and stained. the towels are just as stained. not nice to look at! the resort is huge and the shuttles are few and far between so lots and lots of walking the buffet is average as well as average a la cartes. nothing special bring a flashlight as the paths are not well lit and its hard to find your way as the signs are not lit the staff , pool and beaches are the highlight of this resort. the next question is would i recommend it to a friend, well. it depends , some travel with less expectations than others but if it was to recommend to a seasoned traveller, no i would not

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great vacation

Loved the resort! Very clean and well looked after the staff are very friendly and polite with makes the stay more enjoyable. The buffet food and the three restaurant were very good with lots of variety each day. The Japanese restaurant was a fun night interacting with other guest from around the world. We will return next year.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: good hotel, service was good

Veradero is a good place, enjoyed the trip to Havana. Lots to do but just wanted to relax and had no trouble accomplishing that. Beach is very good also. Learned a lot about Cuba, which was one of our major goals.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Beautiful spot

The resort is very nice. The grounds are very well maintained. Plenty of pools but the beaches is where you want to be. Just beautiful. The staff are superfriendly and there is plenty of entertainment and activities. Great place.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Clean clean clean

I was very surprised at the resorts maintenance and cleanliness. For the price we paid, I was expecting far less. Medium sized resort which made it easy to find people and re-acquaint yourself with people you met the day before. Quiet relatively speaking. No spring breakers, no overly rowdy drunks which in my experience has been a staple at an all inclusive. The food was very good complete with three nights of amazing lobster! Hotel Mojito: Amazing Resort

1-the ride from the airport 10 minutes.2-when you arrive at the reasort they treat you like royalty.3-the reasort and the grounds realy clean.4-the rooms are clean every day they change the towels every 2nd day the beach towels you can change them every day.5-the food always someting that you like and it taste good.6-the service and the staff will go out of their way to give you good service with a smile.7-the beach is clean and very beautiful and lots of beach chairs.I would recomend this reaso [... read more]rt 100 percent this was are second trip to Ibrostar Mojito with no regrets.

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Loved it

Amazing service, staff, clean large rooms, great pools and beautiful beautiful beaches (yes more than one beach) grounds are lush and beautifully kept by hardworking gardeners. Rooms could use a touch of paint but are otherwise beautiful with large private balconies. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Great holiday and resort!

This was our first time to the Dominican Republic and weren't sure what it would be like. We were really impressed with this resort! We travelled with our baby, and they had a really good crib for us, and the grounds were very accessible for the stroller (ask for a ground-level room as there are no elevators). The hotel had large grounds which were very well maintained and beautiful to walk around. The pool was a good size, and we never had issues finding chairs at the pool or beach (although we [... read more] went early). The food was really good, and they had a few days of cooking paella or bbq on the beach, which were delicious. The a la carte restaurants were also worth the visit. Overall, we were all very impressed with this hotel for the price!

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: lovely setting

the grounds of this hotel were really lovely. Lush plantings and very well cared for. Lots of interesting wildlife wandering around. The units were set beautifully among the palms and shrubs and each had a porch with hammock and chair. We enjoyed the buffet restaurants but weren't very impressed with the a la carte ones. Staff were terrific. The beach itself was large and wide and had lots of lounge chairs and many huts and palm trees for shade if you preferred to get out of the sun. The swimmin [... read more]g, however, was not good for me. I like to swim in the sea and it was very rocky. I had to wear water shoes and go in off the dock. The pool area was nice, again, lots of loungers. Rooms were decent although ours smelled very musty. Overall we had a good vacation but would not likely go back to that resort.

Hotel Mojito: Slight disappointment

The Iberostar name has gone downhill it used to be one of the premiere resort names in the Caribbean. This resort is a low cost recent buy for them and no immediate need for renovations, the food choices are limited but you can eat well. The trip to the beach is quite a hike but since most of the beach has shrunk when the tide is in you have to be careful you may get washed away with the waves.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Great hotel in many ways, decor a bit old.

Conveniently close to airport. Grounds and wildlife are beautiful. Great fitness center with professionally instructed classes. I took cycling, bootcamp and yoga. Decor of lobby in Del Mar is not tasteful. It looks like badly matched disney colors with some left over paintings and murals that don't go. The Beach side is much more tasteful. Good recycling program. I dont like the brown water ponds around the lobby area. Looks dirty and like mosquito breeding grounds. A bit of a smell from the water. Food was very good. Drinks were good. Loved the Japanese restaurant. The Rock Cafe was a nice change. Full service restaurant/sportsbar without a reservation. The evening entertainment was good quality with a professional quality live band. The disco played good music. The shopping center at the resort had some good cafes and bars. The beach was nice but it's very wavy as there is no protection. The beverage service by staff on the beach was great. We had to go to the beach before breakfast to reserve a chair for the day.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: It was a nice resort, clean & friendly staff.

Overall the trip was good. The people were very friendly & nice. Always willing to help in any way. A few things to work on - The nightly entertainment ready needs work. We left shortly after it started each night. The food was good but it did not stay hot. If you were not there went it was put out then it usually was not hot.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: A great vacation in February.

Beautiful,lush,tropical grounds with exotic birds and wildlife.Good food,and lots of choices.Japanese and Mediterranean a la cartel enjoyed,but book early or you won't get in.Spent everyday at the beach,admiring the turquoise water.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Nice Stay at Iberostar Costa Dorada

We've been to a number of Iberostar resorts in Mexico and had been very happy with them, so we thought we'd try this one in Dominican Republic. Our teen aged kids had an attached room to ours, both were clean and comfortable. The fridges were restocked every day. And the kids loved the free wifi!! We did have an issue with our upstairs neighbour one evening and eventually had to call the Reception desk and ask to have someone go out and speak to her. The buffet was good but we found it predictable by the end of our week there. And it seemed that there was never enough tables at the buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner! (I know, time of year, get over it!) With that said, we always tried to sit in Bonny's section at the buffet. No matter how busy he was or the time of day, he always had a terrific smile for us. The beach was nice, as was the pool... but unless you were out before 7:30, you weren't getting a chair!! We are not early risers, so we found this challenging at best most days. There is some seaweed on the beach, but we didn't think it was a really big deal. We didn't take in much of the entertainment, but what we saw was pretty good. I would recommend this hotel - Just at another time of year. Perhaps the weather would cooperate a little more (we had about 4 days of on and off rain) and it wouldn't be so tricky to find seats at the beach, pool or buffet.

Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites: Great quick getaway from Canadian winter

We travelled to this resort in mid February, 2016, (me, my husband and 26 year old daughter). Our arrangements through Trip Central were all complete and even the customs/immigration process and transfer was quick, efficient and not unpleasant (contrary to the last time we visited Jamaica). The grounds, staff and food were all excellent. The buffet restaurant always had a great selection, sometimes with a theme, with freshly cooked food. The Meditteranean, Gourmet and Steak restaurants were all  [... read more]great, the Italian was the weakest, in our opinion and we didn't get to the Japanese or Cajun. The included wine was certainly drinkable, though I wouldn't search it out at home. We only went to two shows. The Jamaican show was great, with the best break dancer I have ever seen, and excellent drummers and acrobats. Do skip the Miss Iberostar show which was embarrassing and degrading. I have a sun sensitivity and much appreciated that it was always possible to find a shaded lounge chair, both on the beach and around the pool. It had been raining a few days before we arrived and our ground floor rooms had a distinct damp feel and mildew smell. I asked if we could move before we unpacked, and was told that it would not be possible for 3-4 days. I quite understand if the resort was full, but felt I was treated in a rather dismissive manner. No one contacted us re our concern, even our Concierge (whose real job was to try to get you to buy into the The Prestige Club). Our only other comment re "room to improve" is that the bathroom, though spacious and clean was poorly ventilated and lit, and had no makeup mirror or soap dish. Do: - tip the staff when you can, especially the housekeepers and gardeners, not just the bartenders, who get plenty of tips. - take plenty of sunscreen - book the Luminous Lagoon tour

Hotel Mojito: Nice small, uncrowded resort in a quiet area

The beach was lovely, especially in the afternoon during low tide. The hotel room was clean and so were all the other public areas. The swimming pools were also kept clean. However, the ladies bathroom near the main snack bar area never seemed to have enough toilet paper so I would recommend that you bring your own. The grounds need some refurbishment, especially some of the footpaths which had uneven tile work.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Best of Puerto Plata

Our return visit for two weeks in February was overall much the same as previous years, pool chairs were mostly unavailable due to early morning chair reserving with towels etc. This is a common practice at many hotels and difficult to stop. The rooms were always clean, food always the best and varied that we have ever experienced. The devaluation of the Canadian dollar may have an affect on us returning next year.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Very much enjoyed our stay here!

This is our third stay stay at an Iberostar resort (also stayed in Punta Cana twice) and it lived up to our high expectations. The staff were beyond excellent, from the concierges in 10 block (Candy and her associates), to the dining staff, and everyone from maids to gardeners was always quick to greet everyone. I have to mention especially the fab animation team -- who work so tirelessly to talk to guests, put on fun activities and participate in the nightly shows as well -- and the outside pat [... read more]io lobby bar servers who are just the sweetest ladies ever!!! We had no problem getting pool or beach chairs (as you always do if you stay at Riu), no issue getting reservations for the specialty restaurants. The grounds are really lovely and always well maintained, as was the pool. My teenagers and us met so many great people to hang out with in our week there!! They posted on YikYak to meet up with other teens there. We stayed in 1010 in 10 block overlooking the fountain and we found it to be great location, quick walk to lobby and pool. Recommend the Steakhouse and Mexican restaurants; the Tepanaki Japanese was just OK -- I have experienced a better "show" at Bahia Principe. If I can mention a couple of minor drawbacks (and they were not really super important to us) the food at Riu resorts is better; there are not many stores on the property and none to walk to if shopping is your thing; the waves are strong most days (red flag on some, yellow flag on others) and so may not be great for little children but you can walk out quite far before being bowled over; the bartenders for the most part are just OK< not super friendly but not rude either. And the excursions are super expensive compared to similar resorts so we did not do them; we took a cab to Sayulita, the funky but congested beach surfer town 1/2 hour away (300 pesos or $15). Would recommend and wish you a happy stay if you go!
