El Dorado Seaside Suites: A side for almost everyone!
The Eldorado Seaside Suites hotel area is made up of 3 resorts, El Dorado Seaside Suites (a 2 building complex with an infinity pool on each of the 6 floors), Hidden beach (A nudist area, in the middle for some reason) and Sensimar, a quieter complex covering a larger amount of area but with multiple 2 story buildings.
The Seaside Suites area offers great views, and a more modern room layout, the rooms had plenty of space, comfortable beds and a great view of the ocean. However with the main[... read more] pool complex being directly below, and it being more of the party side, the sound travelled up so for those who would like their stay to be more on the quiet side I would suggest looking at booking on the Sensimar (non swim up) side.
The Seaside Suites (SS) beach area was also a little lacking compared to the Sensimar side, while the SS side had some rocky out croppings, the sensimar side was smooth and close to the Maroma Beach area in terms of quality.
Food is near top quality rivaling, each meal at the ala carte restaurants rivaling a slightly higher priced restaurant in Canada. Adding Alcohol into the mix you can almost get your value from the meals you are eating alone.
All in all a top quality resort that I am happy to recommend to friends and family. Only slight issues we had was some electrical problems with the lights at our last day and the fact that you get asked to go to the spa every hour and a half or so (just don't make eye contact)

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Awesome resort
It was awesome! Only thing I would say is that internet not available only if you pay, which for a 5 star resort I feel you should give for free, I have been to other resorts also 5 stars and had internet for free throughout the entire resort, even in our room!
But everything else was awesome! I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I definitely will be back!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Jungle and fun
2nd visit. Eco-Superior family room. Hotel is a good place to explore and enjoy with the family in general. Animals abound, Coaties, Monkeys, birds all provide fun things to see. The Cenotes are nice. Kids club and waterpark are decent. The Beach is fine for Mexico. If it's rainy there is not much to do as most of the resort is outdoors or open air. Our ground floor room flooded a bit because of a night of rain. Annoying but the front desk moved our family the next day which is good. Unfortunate[... read more]ly you know they know that some (only some I presume) ground floor rooms are susceptible to flooding but they still put families in them... So that's not good practice. Be wary. Also our late check-out request was denied so our family of 4 were homeless for half a day before our late flight departed. That's not good.
So the food is good and when the weather is nice the events, shows, and walking paths are awesome. But... Even in Mid November when it's not that busy of a place a few hiccups occurred which is..not great at all. Overall, our second visit was...ok, definitely were not treated as well as we were on our first visit, we will go somewhere else next time for sure.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Fantastic resort for families with young children
Our family of five (kids aged 6, 4, 1) had a fantastic time at the Ocean Riviera Paradise.
In reading other reviews, many people commented on the smell in the rooms. I did notice a damp smell on arrival, but it is a humid area and it didn’t bother us. After a few hours we didn’t even notice it anymore.
Our room was in the Daisy building. We went for a room at the back of the building to avoid the noise in front of the pool, but if I had it to do over I would choose pool side. The “[... read more]garden side†looked onto a service road for staff, so in the evenings when we sat on our balcony there was a lot of vehicle noise. The room itself was fantastic! There was lots of space for a family with three kids. We were also impressed with the size of the bathroom; the separate rooms for the toilet and shower were very convenient.
Our older kids loved the waterpark for the first few days, and then they were ready to move on to other activities; fortunately there were lots to choose from. The different pools, the beach, kayak rentals, bowling gave us many options. The kids loved the Daisy Club, too. Some days they would go for hours, others they would choose one or two activities. The size of the resort was perfect for us.
The food at the buffet was varied and great! We also enjoyed our meals at the a la carte restaurants, particularly the Hibachi, Italian, and the Mexican restaurants. One of the few downsides for our family is that the majority of the a la carte restaurants do not open until 6:30. Our kids are used to eating at 5:30 so this resulted in hungry and cranky kids most nights at dinner. It would be nice to have a few more restaurants with earlier seating. The staff at all of the restaurants were very attentive to our daughter’s allergies.
Overall this is a fantastic resort. I would recommend this resort for families with young children, and I will consider returning or trying another H10 hotel in the future! Thanks to Amanda for finding this resort for us, and for the speedy communication. I'll certainly book with her again!

Great pool and splash area for children. My granddaughter loved it. The resort was very clean. The beach was also amazing. My granddaughter enjoyed the spider monkeys running around and the coati mundi. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Not impressed!
Would not go back! For a hotel with a lot of experience this misses the mark on so many levels. It had a choice of several restaurants but you had to book at least two days in advance and even then you could not get in. In walking past the restaurants they were never full and it looked like they did have adequate staff to wait on customers.
I did not travel 3500 miles to eat buffet food!
The hotel room service was sporadic, there was never a day when you had complete towel service. The[... read more] bins for beach towels was available for use on 7 to14 days, the washrooms ran out of toilet paper, the 4 hot tubs did not work!
The rooms were a little tired!
We have been to over 12 local resorts in the Mayan Riviera and thus would rate as a 2 out of 5

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Paradisus la perla excellent stay.
We just finished a stay at the Paradisus la perla. The hotel was clean and well kept, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel seems some what if a maze but you do get use to it. This hotel does have a family side that is in close proximity but this was not an issue.
Great stay ....

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Excellent resort!
Grounds were beautiful, excellent service, great food. Lots of stuff to do- pool activities, water games, beach sports. Beach was amazing- clear water, clean beachfront. Only complaint was that poolside and beachside chairs were all taken early morning, even though it’s a resort policy you can’t reserve/hold seats

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Still a good reort
I have stayed at the COBA numerous times and over the years my honest review remains pretty much consistent. We stayed at the COBA from November 22-29, arrived with Air Canada. When you travel with that airline you have a special check in location. The reception staff were very polite and efficient. We were offered a beverage while we completed the check-in paperwork. I found that our check in process was fast.
The resort grounds are well-manicured as the groundskeepers worked tirelessly to[... read more] maintain that affect. The COBA itself is one of four complexes and you can walk the complex. There are trolleys to take you to the other complexes such as Tulum, Akumal, Sian Ka, which make up the Grand Bahia Principe.
The rooms are typical for a resort. In the room there was a flat screen TV as well as a coffee maker, an iron & ironing board and a fridge that was stocked every day, with 2 beers, 2 large bottles of water, and various soft drinks. The daily maid service was good.
The COBA has completed a few upgrades. Where previously they would set up food tables daily in front of the main pool bar, they now installed a permanent food station. In the Pisces pool restaurant they now have a better variety of foods and added a pasta station where the cook makes your pasta dish on demand. They installed a permanent bar and stage in the outdoor space to listen to live music at night and also expanded the seating capacity.
The main buffet restaurant is very typical of all-inclusive resorts. The COBA does a decent job appealing to an eclectic clientele with various tastes, even the pickiest eater should be able to find something to eat. If you can’t find anything to eat, then you shouldn’t be travelling and should stay home.
Depending on your timing, if you happened to be at one of the food stations when the food trays are being refilled, you will get hot food. Otherwise, the food quickly loses it heat sitting in the trays. There are no food warming lamps in the stations to maintain the heat. The food offering can seem repetitive, so if I can make a suggestion, is that you vary your focus on your food selections. For example, select chicken, one day, meats the other etc., so you don’t get tired of eating the same thing every day.
The a la carts book up quickly so I strongly suggest that you make the reservations after you have checked in, as you might not get the restaurant or time you want.
The main pool is where you have the animation team activities and on certain days live music. The animation team is very friendly and outgoing, however, in my opinion the team focused heavily on Yoga, dancing and stretching classes. I had to remind them not to neglect the popular, high participation rate of all age’s activities like Bocce, Horseshoe and others.
In closing, as I mentioned in my previous reviews, even though it is an all-inclusive package, the restaurants, bar and cleaning staff work very hard. A few dollars to us will not break you, however, it will be very appreciated by them as my understanding their pay isn’t very much.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Fantastic Resort
This resort was even nicer than we had expected, such a nice surprise. First off, the staff were all so friendly and helpful. The resort was; clean, safe, amazing overall amenities, beach was great for swimming and great areas for snorkeling. The property is large enough to accommodate all the guests without making the pool area, restaurants, bar areas etc. feel busy. It has the benefits of being able to have stay and play options. Despite being so large, the property and amenities is all access[... read more]ible and walkable. If you didn’t want to walk from one area to another they offered a free shuttle service back and forth.
Overall, this was an amazing resort and would love to go back.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Paradise
My friend and I went on vacation together to this resort. We were pleasantly surprised by the amazing food (quality and options!), delicious drinks, beautiful beach, resort grounds, friendly/ helpful staff and all the other amenities at the resort. We’re not really pool people, but the pool was nice. The ocean was perfect to swim in (slightly warmer than the pool!)- the water was calm and I felt safe floating around out there. We also went to the spa one day and it was totally worth every pen[... read more]ny! Breathless Riviera Cancun: Great stay!!
Wasn’t sure what to expect t but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was really nice - rooms were great... good ac, clean, comfortable, spacious. The resort is a little ways away from Cancun, but unless your plan is to be in the city, you don’t need it. The hotel definitely has a constant “club†vibe, with each music, but there are areas to escape, and the people do not always reflect that same vibe. It just gives a lot of energy. There are all age ranges and lots to do, including [... read more]activities, great food and drinks, spa and relaxation. The entertainment staff were amazing, and I would come back for them - they really make the stay so enjoyable. 2 things - it’s best to upgrade. We got in a room right outside the disco and it was Unreasonably loud and very difficult to get a good sleep. It didn’t ruin our stay, but I’d absolutely make sure to stay in the quieter area so I can choose when I want noise next time. The pool area is also “lined†with a really rough stone... it will ruin your bathing suit bottoms and it’s kind of rough on the skin (and manicures ladies!). Again, it’s not a dealbreaker but it was really tough for a whole week. And we could have gone to the beach (small but sufficient) but just enjoyed the pool.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great time!
My family Recently stayed at Bahia Principe Coba from nov 22-dec 1st! We had a fantastic trip! The hotel was beautiful and huge. We enjoyed having the option to go to the other attached resort “Tulum†we found that they had a fun entertainment team during the day at the main pool and were conveniently close to beach access. Coba on the other hand had great entertainment in the evenings and we really enjoyed sitting outside listening to different performances and the new sports bar was defini[... read more]tely a highlight! Coba is definitely a family friendly resort! I didn’t take my children this trip but they would have had a blast with the water slides and the shows they had specifically for kids not to mention the buffet! Next time I’d bring them! The food was all around decent and they had many options to choose from! The service was for the most part good our server Jose at breakfast was awesome! So it was nice being greeted by him every morning :) I think they could use more staff in the restaurants/buffets, as well as poolbar tenders at times they were so swamped! All in all we had a wonderful time and would go back :)
Really nice resort with excellent food and very pleasant staff. We liked the gourmet and specialty restaurants. The star cafe is a pleasant surprise, offering excellent coffee and sweets. The room was tastefully decorated and spacious.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Amazing resort
Been traveling to Mexico for many years and have to say this is one of the nicest resorts I've been to. While the property itself is quite large, the Platinum Yucatan Princess section is very manageable. The nice thing about the property being so large is that is has something for everyone.
Everything is always keep very clean, service is great and the food was amazing.
Beach is a bit rocky and if you are looking for shade around the pool, not many umbrellas are available.
