Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Trip to Cuba

We had a great trip our Hotel was very good,grounds and all other buildings on site were very good Overall our Trip was excellent,lots to do.We visited other hotels none compared to ours.Food was great tons of choices if you go hungry here its your own doing LOL

Starfish Cayo Guillermo: mmm the good and the not so good

Wonderful location- close to airport and rooms are located right on the beach. recommend the "high rise type of room" as opposed to smaller chalet type. Room was clean though, no remote for tv, or a/c and fridge did not work. Smaller resort so no long walks to dining hall. Usual pool activities and evening entertainment. Hotel Camino del Mar: Love Cuba

Amazing. Considering the recovery aspect after the devastating hurricane the property was beautiful. Everything was in good working order and the staff were exceptional. We cannot say enough positive comments to the Melia staff, from the Chefs, ladies and gentlemen at the buffet to all the wonderful ground crew that greeted each morning. Thank you once again Cuba and her wonderful people. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: A wonderful stay!

We had a wonderful time at this resort, and found the staff to be very attentive and friendly. We've heard many people complain about the food in Cuba, but quite honestly we love it. Five times in Cuba now, at different resorts, and have never been disappointed. The only exception this trip was one a la carte dinner where the food was over the top salty. No biggie, as all of the other meals were great. We upgraded to the Diamond Club and had a bungalow room. Some rough edges (to be expected in [... read more] Cuba), but no real complaints. The indoor shower was weak, but the outdoor shower was awesome... so, outdoor showers every day! The room was well kept by our maid and very spacious. The beach was fantastic, aside from a fair bit of wind and some cold water on the first couple days of our trip (the weather started a bit off, but got better). Beach service was excellent, and crews cleaned up washed up seaweed and debris early each morning. Bar services were good, although it was sometimes challenging to find a seat in the Piano Bar area. Night time entertainment was hit and miss, but overall enjoyable. It was tough leaving on our last day as we had met some great people (staff and guests) and were really enjoying ourselves there. I would be most happy to go back there one day.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Very nice resort

We were pleased with the work that was done after the hurricane. The resort is small and personal, very charming and friendly. We did not have the opportunity to go into the ocean as the weather did not allow, however the beach is wide and easy to walk. The food was the best we have had in Cuba and we enjoyed the beach bar BBQ for 3 lunches as well as the two al a carte restaurants and the buffet. The room balcony was spacious although the sliding door was difficult to move and not a tight fit.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Janurary 2018 - 2 weeks

let me start with the checkin experience. there are 2 counter for checkin. One for Diamond Club and one regular checkin counter which was abunded by about 60 people. the waiting was horrible. some people waited for more than one hour to get checked in and the Diamond Club counter could not be bothered by pitching in. The hotel is big and it only has 1 buffet restaurant and one snack bar by the pool. They also have 3 or 4 specialized restaurants with minimal seating. During our stay the hot [... read more]el was full . The line ups were unbearable at times and not enough staff to cater to everyone. This hotel has major water and sewer problems. The public washrooms by the buffet, reception and lobby bar was always closed due to backups of toilets and floor drains. We went 2 full days without water and always no pressure. Hot water was an issue frequently. Everytime it was reported to the reception, they kept on saying the hotel has no water. I walked in to the lobby bar washroom at 2 occasions where the floor was full of poo..... As a diabetic , there never were diet coke and sweeteners were very scarce. They actually ran out 6 days after my arrival. As for the diet coke , I always need to run to the lobby bar to see if they had any. Snack bar, buffet and swim up bar never ever had any. As for the service, if you dont tip you dont get the proper service. you do wait a very long time to get a drink. As for the beach it was nice but the sand was full of broken sea shells that were very sharp and my granddaughter got her foot cut . They really should try and remove or grind the shells down. I was not impressed with this 5 star hotel. I have been to Cuba hundreds of times and this is the worst hotel i have ever been to. I do quote this hotel as a 3 star. Will never go back to this hotel again.

Melia Jardines del Rey: could be better.

The good:large well kept resort, nice beach,clean rooms, short drive from airport, entertainment not bad.Hotel seems to have recovered well considering the area got hit with a hurricane not that long ago.The not so good:buffet food quality is not great, food that should be hot too cool,lineup for cooking stations far too long,could do a better job informing quests of up coming activities on resort,inconsistency and lack of knowledge mixing fairly common alcoholic drinks.

Hotel Mojito: Great vacation

The workers at the hotel are what make this resort such a great place. They are very friendly and fantastic at their jobs. The entertainment team is amazing. We met so many nice people & repeat customers. The pools are nice & were always clean. The beach is beautiful and they make very good drinks at all the bars. There is always a lot of good food choices also. The rooms are nice but they need to update their plumbing. That is my only negative thing about our trip. I would definitely re [... read more]turn.

Sol Cayo Coco: 2nd time, still loving it.

This is an older smaller resort but it's amazing. Grounds are immaculate as is the common areas. Hard to believe Irma hit hard other than the newly planted trees. Brand new beach bar and snack bar, lots of beach chairs. Food is amazing, lot's of variety, fresh grilling stations, pizza oven and buffet. The best part is the staff, many have been there since the opening, always remember returning guests. Will be returning soon.

Tryp Cayo Coco: Favourite place for a getaway

This was our 4th time to the Trypp in the last 5 yrs. still my favourite place. This resort has an amazing beach with lots of chairs. Pools are great, quiet pool is my favourite. Rooms are older however are very clean. You don't go to Cuba to hangout in your room. Food is always good. Fresh fried rice and pastas made in front of you are the best. Again you don't go to Cuba for food and the rooms. You go for the sun, beach, and most of all the friendly resort workers that make your stay comfortab [... read more]le and enjoyable. There is evidence still of the aftermath of hurricane Irma however the staff have done a great job making it operational. Most visible was the missing vegetation which they are replanting daily.

Melia Cayo Coco: Melia Cayo Coco, Jan 15-22.2018

The resort is quite nice, they did a good job of recovering from the huricane. Still more work to be done (I would suggest the top windows in the lobby should be a priority). Beach: great (large, great sand, snorkeling, some nice golfs close bye..) Food: good and very good (special mention for fresh seafood) Restaurants: International is top level Drinks: generally ok (weaker selection for top brands) Entertainment: excelent $$ (live bands every day, good music, good shows...and we have see [... read more]n quite a few resorts 4 to 5 stars in the Caraibeans). Swimming pool: single one, very large, shallow, no deep end) Tennis court: only one functional, lights not yet repaired, quality but old surface. Table tennis, pool table- ok. The weakest link was ...weather, but I guess that belongs to a different "department" :-)

Melia Jardines del Rey: Somewhat disappointed

Let me start by saying the staff on the whole are lovely as always the hotel grounds the rooms the lay out of the hotel and pools are great and the beach amazing sadly to say the owners of the hotel needs to step up to the plate there is no need for guest to be with out water for three days off and on especially in the evenings when guest is getting ready for dinner had to ask the front desk three time to fix the no lights in the corridors of our floor pitch black at night thank to foresight we  [... read more]have flashlights.and not to sound like a complainer food is food in Cuba but they need to be serving they guess hot food a very simple thing to ask!!!

Iberostar Origin Playa Pilar: Never go back again

Food was terrible. Lot of problems in the room ( no hot water, water doesn’t evacuate from the shower, wind whistle through the window can’t sleep) Hotel is not well clean Beach is not clean either There is no really entertainment specially during bad weather’s day However the bay is nice. The staff are super nice too and smile.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Enjoyable!

This resort is very nice - although my room could have used some simple repair and maintenance. It has a great beach which was always windy, lots of palapa and enough loungers. The pool area was difficult to find a seat as most of the chairs were covered with towels with no one there nor their belongings- just the hotel beach towel for hours on end. My meals were good as I was able to have fresh fish cooked for me while I wait which I then found rice dishes and cooked veggies to complete the m [... read more]eal. The buffet food tended to be room temperature as the hot food did not stay hot very long. The evening entertainment was very good and was not simply Cuban music and dance. They included modern dance with popular music, circus juggling etc, and cirque de soleil style gymnastics- very talented. The main thing that could use improvement is the state of the toilets in the public washrooms. Although there was always a bathroom attendant monitoring, much of the time the toilets would not flush, be overflowing, some washrooms closed altogether. I would probably not recommend Cayo Coco to my friends- while on the bus going back to the airport people who had been at other resorts had similar and worse problems with water/toilets. Also the airport on Cayo Coco had no toilet seats on any toilets in either ladies washroom and overflowing toilets there as well.

Hotel Camino del Mar: Amazing Staff

A lot of the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, especially the ground keepers, and the bar tenders at the 24hr bar and grill. I wish I would have written all their names down, but those particular staff are what make this resort an amazing place. The standard room I stayed in wasn't anything extraordinary. Our toilet wouldn't fully flush unless we grabbed the shower hose and and used it while flushing(my husband came up with that idea), our fridge was never stocked the same way [... read more] twice ( one day we would get 2 pop and 1 beer, the next would be no beer and 1 pop), and I definitely wouldn't say the rooms were "clean". We had two days with no water at all, 4 days with tepid water, and 1 day with actual hot water. The buffet had lots of assortment, and the food wasn't too bad for the most part. The International a la carte was terrible. The meals were not very pleasant, and the waitress never came back with our dessert. The mediterranean a la carte was much better both food wise and service. Over all, if it were not for the few amazing staff I would not consider going back to this resort!

Melia Jardines del Rey: Just Okay....

Melia Jardines del Rey THE GOOD - the resort, layout, grounds and rooms are beautiful. The Beach is beautiful and lots of chairs available. Water pressure was good and hot water was always available. Nightly entertainment was very good the dancers and singers really put on a great show. THE BAD - Food at the buffet was consistently the same (breakfast, lunch and dinner) cold and flavourless. And there was room for improvement at the ala carte and it could taste much better. Snack bar items were limited and tasted okay. How can you go wrong with fries. Burgers had no buns they gave sliced sandwich bread. fried chicken was good but only available between 1pm to 3pm and some days there was no chicken. THE UGLY - If management was around they did not make themselves known to the guest. I have to assume the people who were out of uniform wearing jeans with walkie talkies were the managers. And if they were they were not dressed appropriately for their role on the resort. Food and beverage, Bar and Resort management were anonymous. ACTIVITIES - Not posted anywhere for the times of salsa lessons, volleyball-(waterpolo), Bingo. Activities staff did not go the extra mile to encourage participation at the resort. With the young 20something year olds possibly but for my week at the resort I was never approached by activity staff. What this hotel lacked is overall service. The inconsistency of the service at all levels was so disappointing. Especially since this hotel carries the Melia name, there was a certain standard that was expected. This was my fourth time in Cuba and definitely this is my least favourite resort. Go to Cayo Coco but don't stay at a MELIA. There are far better resorts on the island.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Great

Nice resort All the buildings clean and well maintained. The staff are helpful and friendly. Lots of entertainment. The nightly show is mediocre at best. But the little ones enjoyed it. Food adequate.

Melia Jardines del Rey: Nice place, too bad about the service.

They have done an amazing job of bringing the resort back after the damage from Hurricane Irma and the beach is still very nice. The resort was at full capacity for most of the time that we were there and this proved to be the problem. The service was at best hit and miss - lineups that were too long, servers that may see you or may ignore you. The food never varied, it may have been good if wasn't always served luke-warm. The a la carte restaurants were hard to book, even though they didn't app [... read more]ear to be fully occupied, and the food was hit/miss there too. I felt bad for the servers at the bars and restaurants - they didn't appear to be happy at all - they were overworked and tired. The room and grounds were attended well, and these workers had some time to share with you. Our room was well maintained and we met and talked with grounds people who were always friendly and helpful. The resort was always noisy - everywhere except the beach. We won't be returning here - and that's too bad because it could have been an exceptional place but they haven't figured out the management of the services correctly.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: A little gem

A friendly little resort with comfortable rooms, good food and a lovely beach. They are working hard to repair the damages from the hurricane but there is enough up and running. The tiles on the floor can be quite slippery so you had to be very careful when it rained or when there was moisture in the air. The staff were friendly, the food was the best we have had in Cuba (this was our third time in Cuba but first in Cayo Coco).

Tryp Cayo Coco: Amazing Resort & Staff!!

The best staff I have ever encountered at a resort (my husband and I travel down south 2x year) who are extremely helpful and a joy to be around. The GM Christian always makes sure every aspect of the hotel is running smoothly and we see him there everyday; wonderful man who is in touch with all aspects of the hotel. Thank you for all you do! The Food is great, don't listen when people complain about food ever... there are so many options available and I have celiac and was able to eat and people understood my condition! Lastly, we have been to Tryp both before and after the hurricane.. the fact that everyone has come together and how great everything looks is remarkable... can't wait to go back!!
