Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful
Hotel was clean and staff where very friendly The food was basically the same everyday breakfast was the best time to eat. The ocean was breathe taking. The resort had lots to offer Thanks to our agent
Sol Varadero Beach: Wonderful holiday
My husband and I found the value for the cost very good Older building but clean, food was good, staff friendly and helpful Beach beautiful and pool area good We would return again to this resort no reservations
Paradisus Rio De Oro: A Perfectly Lovely Get Away
My husband and I just returned from a week at Paradisus Rio De Oro in Holguin, Cuba and were very pleased with all aspects of our stay. The hotel buildings were lovely, with a beautiful lobby, lounge and restaurants. We had a lovely room with a king size bed in a Junior Suite. There was a good sized separate sleeping area which connected to a spacious living room area. The unit had a great balcony overlooking beautifully groomed gardens. The bathroom was spacious with a separate "powder room" [... read more]
Melia Cayo Coco: Bad Service
We have travelled often to Cuba and love their coffee. We chose a premium lagoon room because it was advertised that room service was available for these rooms. Unfortunately room service is not available before noon and the room only had instant coffee, which was NOT refreshed daily. This was a major disappointment to us as our vision of enjoying morning coffee over the lagoon was not possible, ever, even after offering to pay special fees for the service. Also, front desk service was terr [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort condos!
We had one of the apartment condos and they were very clean and modern. There were four people in our group and it was very spacious. Loved it! Food was better than we expected. Pool area was clean! Beach was terrific! The grounds were clean and well maintained.
Melia Las Antillas: great for 60 and over
Pretty resort, large palm trees, pond, great swimming pool, shallow and about 5 feet. Lots of chairs surrounding the pool. They could use more palapala at the beach for shade. Stayed in the cheapest room and the bed was good, showers hot, bathroom fine. Entertainment show almost every night, very professional dancers, excellent. Ballet/synchronized swimming show came in pm and evening. Live music every day at lunch and most evenings. Most staff good. This place has a lot of people from Canada, [... read more]
Melia Cayo Coco: Cuban Relaxation
My spouse and I just returned from Melia Caya Coco and as per comments previously mentioned, so far is the best resort in Cuba in my experience. Beach awesome, at times windy, no beach service (once a day) my only complaint. Food in buffet was terrific, all al la cartes good but small portions. Ordering the lobster at the international al la carte was delicious. No night life, everyone sound asleep by 10-11 pm. One night they had the White Show, which was good. Bar in main lobby has no seat [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: Better than shovelling snow
While this was a quaint resort it definitely showed its age. There were a number of tripping hazards everywhere; even in the pool. Missing/rotted stones, tiles and boards on the walkways, pool deck and boardwalk/wharf. The lining in the pool was warped, buckled and bubbled. The pool deck was dirty with cig. butts , straws and debris. It was finally swept (not hosed down) on the last day of our 7 day vacay. The decorative pools were dirty, unattractive and looked like they had not seen any car [... read more]
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Our favourite Place
We love Paradisus Rio de Oro! This was our 7th. visit and we were treated so well as always. Sadly my husband could not sail on the hobicats with his Cuban friends at the beach...he has prostate cancer and is weak. We were given rides when we needed them and a wheelchair was provided as he went through a bad patch. We were taken to the clinic for medical help in Guadevalaca and there we received excellent care at a very reasonable cost. In spite of health issues , all went well and we are home s [... read more]
Sol Varadero Beach: Decent Resort
Good bang for the buck. The beach is beautiful and the resort is a bit old but clean. The food is not that good and the beds are horrible but can't complain about much else. More like 3.5 stars than 4
Melia Las Dunas: Amazing resort
Resort was awesome. Our agent was awesome she was very helpful The people at resort where so friendly differently a beautiful place beach was so beautiful rooms where clean and maids where so friendly and rooms where clean
Sol Varadero Beach: Not a Resort I would revisit!
The best part of the resort was the beach. Rooms were very dated, beds extremely uncomfortable. Staff were friendly. I understand it is a foreign country, but very few staff could understand English. Do not order their special meals that cost extra - not worth it.
Paradisus Varadero: We loved Paradisus Varadero
it began with a rocky start; mosquitoes in the room when we arrived. This was not the norm and believe a staff member may have been doing some work in the room in the evening with the door open. Once repellent was sprayed the mosquitoes were minimal. The room was very luxurious with a large jacuzzi tub, incredible outdoor shower and two sinks. The king size bed was very comfortable and we had complete control over the temperature so it was comfortable all the time. The beach was just 40ft away a [... read more]
Melia Cayo Coco: Awesome
The beach is one of the better ones we have been too. The buffet was excellent. Much better than expected. The a la carte restaraunts were mediocre. In fact we skipped one just to go to the buffet. It was a good thing as they were serving lobster in the buffet. The resort itself was very clean. The rooms were in good shape. No swim up bar in pool which was good. Very quiet place with a more mature crowd.
Paradisus Rio De Oro: Return to PRDO
My wife and I stayed at PRDO during the last week of March 2017. This was our fourth visit to the resort and our eleventh visit to Cuba. We stayed at the Royal Service section for the second time. PRDO is still one of the best resorts in Cuba ; no doubts about that. The grounds are beautiful ; the guys-in-green are doing a great job. Security is good, understanding and helpful. Public areas are clean. Can change money all days of the week ( don't forget your passport ! ). A nice smoke sh [... read more]
Melia Cayo Santa Maria: Great Getaway in the Sun
My daughter and I just spent a week there and we loved it. We were looking for a quiet, small resort with a great beach. That's what we got. Our spacious room was clean if not a little tired, on the second level as requested and close to the beach path where we spent most of our days. Fantastic beach, and water. Hobie cats were nearby for a quick sail. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We liked being able to walk everywhere, the gardens were pretty, with a variety of bird sounds, the 2 [... read more]
Melia Jardines del Rey: Great resort
Hotel was huge and very clean, lots of walking, but, there were carts to take you anywhere on the property. Food was ok,but, remember it is Cuba, the buffet was good,as you could walk around a choose what you wanted, and the dessert table, well, you will never starve . The staff were very friendly, our favourite was..andy,as I could not pronounce his whole name......handro at the end,lol...our room was always clean had heard reports of no towels, well they well plentiful when we were there the beach [... read more]
Hotel Camino del Mar: In need of some TLC
This resort is in need of TLC & for a Melia it's a let down. They have very few palapa's at the beach or pool. It's very hard to find shade. The resort on either side of this one have lots of palapa's. The pool is a bit deceiving in the photos. I don't believe the waterfall has ran in a while now & the same bartender tends both the busiest lunch pool bar & the swim up bar - it takes a while to get served & that's because they need to have more bartenders. They is a lack of staff on the resort pe [... read more]
Sol Cayo Coco: I'm in love
No difference between sol cayo coco and 4.5 star Cuba hotels I've stayed at. I'm changing my food rating I'm just picky and not much of a meat eater. After all cubas allure isn't the food! The beach was amazing, 1 side of rock deeper and wavy, other side calm soft sand and shallow for quite a ways. The grounds were beautiful clean and well maintained. Staff were friendly and excellent with my little guy. I'm not one to go to the same area twice but I would consider it for this resort! [... read more]
Melia Marina Varadero: Great resort
We stayed in the Melia Marina apartments. We really enjoyed the view of the marina watching the boats go in and out of the harbour. The apartments were really lovely, well furnished and fabulous maid service. It was a bit of a walk to the beach, but you passed a myriad of shops and restaraunts. The seafood one especially was really good.Have the paella! Our only negative was there was not enough shade, virtually none around the pool, the beach area was crammed and it was very difficult to find s [... read more]
