The pool areas it was impossible to get a lounge chair by the pool. There was a lot of noisy people in the corridor at night, and the sound of slamming doors made it hard to sleep. It's too bad you can't drink the water . . .

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Would return!!

Very clean new renovated room. Food was average and entertainment was amazing especially on VIP party night. Friendly stay. Loved the VIP upgrade on the beach. The place is large, but there is a shuttle.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Visitors beware

Reception service was rude and unhelpful from the moment we walked off the bus. Balcony door didnt lock and on the joining room door there was no lock to keep the stranger beside us out. Musty moldy smell and stains on bedding. Many guests rooms broken into and floods on 1st fl rooms. Clean pool and towels. Bar service wonderful and friendly. Buffet service poor, spent alot of time searching for clean cups. Food had wide variety but very questionable. Vendors bother every moment on the beach which was very annoying since they don't take no for an answer. Nolitour agent was uncompassionate and had few answers to our questions. We had to figure things out on our own or by asking other tourists. Internet pictures are NOT what the resort is actually like and renovated rooms have marbles floors but thats all thats upgraded. This is not a place id go again for an all inclusive vacation. Take caution when booking this report because management was horrible.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: staff

Staff was very friendly and polite but no one spoke english! At times we had to use sign language to ask for help. Food was excellent. .beautiful swimming pools..Entertainment at night could have been better for kids as well as adults.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good for price

The resort is not stretched out so little walking, large beach, line up at bars which is nice so people aren't budding. Buffet was not very big but always found enough to eat (served lobster tails one night). Room was decent size and fairly clean. People were friendly. Only 20 min drive from airport.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Mostly wonderful!

I went to puerto plata with low expectations as I knew this was an older area with darker sands. I was pleasantly surprised by the lovely beach and great food and drinks! I really enjoyed the blender drinks and the beach restaurant serving great fries, pizza and chicken wings! The snorkelling right off the beach was pretty good as well There were some negatives though. the wifi was on and off, which didn't bother me too much but if you were expecting to use it you might be annoyed. The rooms wer [... read more]e older, but ok, except we did find a dead mouse in our first room and had a difficult time changing rooms. I eventually had to speak to a supervisor. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning worked well and the water pressure was good. There was a big problem getting locks for the room safes.... We could not get one the entire week!!! They kept saying to check back, but there was never one available. This bothered me a lot as I don't like leaving my cash and passports unlocked. Also, to get a lounge chair at the beach or pool was impossible unless you went down before 7 am and put your towel down even though the signs clearly say this is not allowed. Really annoying to see all the palapas taken and no one at them for hours and hours. The very worst thing about this resort was the vendors on the beach. Constantly being asked to buy....every day...all day ......not very relaxing...I felt like I was in a market the entire time!!!! I think the positives definitely outweighed the negatives especially considering the price ( under $1000 Canadian) I would go back for sure and would also recommend to a friend!

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Grat Place! All as expected for the price paid

Coming back from a second trip of two weeks at Bahia Principe San Juan, i can say that for the price we paid its definately was as expected. Friendly stuff, lots of ameneties including a Casino ( for Advantage players : 3/6 pen ;) ) . Place can cater to many tastes in entertainment. It has several A la carte restaurants if the main bufet gets to repetetive with its food. The food is good, but the lack of change of variety gets a bit boring after the first week. This was my very first vacation so I can't compare but I had the time of my life!! everything from the food to the service was great!! I am already planning my next trip back to the same resort in puerto plata!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great holiday

Everything was wonderful, Staff. well informed and pleasant.facilities were super. Rooms were clean housekeeping. Staff always smiling. Exactly what. I was looking for in a get-away. Very good value for the money.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great place

The resort overall is a great place to stay. We like smaller resorts and this was ideal. All amenities are central and rooms spread out from there. Very clean, food was good. Staff very friendly though the language barrier at times was trying. 1hour 30 minutes from samana airport a little to long. Needs a little fixing up especially at the mini golf, and some room issues that were never fixed. But none of these would spoil your vacation. I. Would certainly visit again.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: Great Resort

We stayed the last two weeks of January 2015 and this was our first time at a Bahia Principa resort. It is reasonably priced and we will be going back! The staff were all great, from the front desk to the gardeners, always pleasant and helpful. Waldy and Jaun Carlos at guest services were delightful. The resort is away from any large towns which is great because there were few pedlars, in Dominican they are very aggressive, so sitting on the beach was wonderful. The rooms are clean and kept clea [... read more]n daily. The fridge was always restocked with water, pop and beer. The shower was always hot and plenty of pressure. We had a fridge that was not working and within half an hour of telling the front desk the maintenance were replacing the fridge. The buffet restaurant always had a huge selection, a few times the food was warm not hot. The different cheese and cold cuts were wonderful. The fish was mild and always available. They do not label what type of fish though. The a la carte were all different. They need to refine there serving skills, maybe it is the Dominican way. The food was inconsistent. I had a wonderful lobster, but my wife had a terrible over cooked mess. We had our lunches at the burger restaurant and bar on the beach. It was always great.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: 3rd time and will go back again......

Everything was great, the service and staff was excellent.....always greeted with a smile and taken care of. Love the location and privacy of this resort, never feel crowded and lots of room on the beach....The food selection and taste was even better than before....Our room location was excellent with a nice view of the ocean........will definitely be going back in the future.....

Riu Merengue: Fantastic entertainers!

Lovley pools, oven was full of seaweed and coral. Hard on the feet. Staff were great. Went to bravissimo at ocean world. Wonderful food and the show was wonderful as well. Also the cable car city tour was great

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Simply amazing!

We just arrived back from a weeks stay at Riu Bachata and it was just right for us. The people were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very clean and well stocked with different types of drinks. The grounds were immaculate and they always seemed to be cleaning. The beach and pools were great and even had waiter's on the beach bringing you drinks. With just a couple of minor issues, like the remoteness, which some people enjoyed, we would definitely return.

This place is wonderful. Lots of shade if you want it Long clean beach Clean rooms Always lots to choose from at the buffet or a la cartes Lots of activities Big but not too big and great service overall

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Fantastic Resort

Just got back from a very enjoyable week at this resort. The staff were all friendly. The food was fantastic...i did not make it to all of the a la carte restaurants but thought that the variety of foods on the buffet was excellent. The room was clean and the fridge in the room always well stocked but i did leave a daily tip for the maid. I will say that clean towels although they were always there were not available before 4pm once i figured that out all went well. I think the only complaint i have was that it was difficult to get information from the front desk staff on how to get around locally. There was a push to take the taxi service provided or one of the provided tours. Otherwise a fantastic vacation.

Riu Merengue: Very clean and well taken care of

Wasn't impressed with food overall. The evening entertainment needs to be updated and more interactive with the guests. Good place to just relax and get some sun if that's all your looking for. It was okay

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: loved this resort

the staff is so friendly, the rooms are very clean ,constant maintenance on the grounds. We loved the food...especially the buffet which offered different things every day.. only thing wish we had had free internet even 10-15 minutes a day

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Second visit as good as the first!

It's smaller than most, clean albeit dated, staff were AMAZING and made our raining vacation very tolerable! Front desk staff very warm and friendly, check in was a breeze and the animation crew were awesome! We were very disappointed with the beach being littered with tons of garbage but assume after 3-4 days of heavy rain and wind that's bound to happen. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Friendly resort!

Food was very good. We felt very safe here and beach was amazing. They have a lot of vendors on the beach but they are all very polite. We had a couple of bad weather days at the beginning of our stay but there was always a beautiful breeze down by the beach. There are a lot of trees along the hotel border of the beach and always a chair in the sun and a place in the shade if you prefer that. Entertainment could be better.
