Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: no so good anymore
unfortunately the resort its not as I remember, I did stay at coba last time and I did have a good experience then,
the room smells really bad the humidity was so bad that you could smell it form outside the door, the sofa was very dirty, the bedding had some holes and in a very used condition and pillows smelled so bad, I dont think they were change. i did book another room for my mom and was better but she was in the opposite side of our room and in a 3 floor for an old lady, i did ask to put[... read more] her as close as possible before going there and wasn't granted, so for a couple of days we copped but at the end we have to pay for an upgrade and ask to move her closer to ask, which I regret, because her room humidity was so bad too that she was sleeping with a mask on it. our mattress were terrible hard that I could sleep well the whole week, for the pain in my hips and the smell, their solution about the smell it was a dehumidifier which didn't work, so beside the smell, the mattress now the NOISE.
our fridge were disconnected for two days before leaving, my mom phone never worked even after I did ask to fix it because I was worry that she need it for an emergency.
when showering water was running out the shower door to the floor room, and last , FOOD was okay, but I noticed that no more natural juices, desserts and bread without flavor, no beef only grounded, just one day I have a little bit of steak, like i said food was okay but no wonderful like other hotels. needs improving at the time of check in, not information at all, at least that what happens to us, we had to figure out how it works. we aren't all digital folks.
now the positive, we had a great time with entertainment, the private restaurants were great, great pools, good room sizes, most of the stuff was friendly and willing to help, love the setting of the resort, their vegetation and green areas are great, transportation inside the resort was good.

Riu Santa Fe: An OK resorts
The hotel is OK. Food need improvements. Show needs lots of work. To much party in the middle of the day. Need to be more strict with guest yelling in the hotels pass 2 am or being loud at 5am. Hat dog and burger needs taste horrible.
The hotel is incredible. It's made up of 4 resorts and if you book your stay at Akumal, you have access to all of them. Great pools and the hotel is right on the beach. Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Excellent Value for Money
Stayed at the Marina El Cid from April 12 - 19th. It was a mother-daughter vacation and we were not disappointed.
Meals were good, had an assortment of ala cart restaurants to choose from which included restaurants from all 3 resorts. You could book 2 days in advance. Especially liked the shuttles (via golf carts) that were available as my mother had difficulty walking. Buildings also had working elevators which is sometimes a problem with some resorts.
If you're looking for a resort wi[... read more]th extensive evening entertainment, this is likely not the place for you. Most entertainment was small, but yet just enough for us after a long day in the sun! From what we could see they had an excellent kids program, as well as an area dedicated for the kids which included cliff jumping and a slide. Lots of interactive activities by the pool which included foam party, water obstacle course, and lots of other beach and pool games to keep you active if you wished.
This resort also promotes time-sharing and we were lucky enough not to get approached, but we noticed there were several others who had so be prepared for the "pitch".
Only downfall for the vacation was the beach - this is no fault of their own and they made every effort to have the beach cleared up every day of the sea weed and algae. Personally I wouldn't swim in it so if you're all about the beach, this may not be the place for you as it's very limited. There are numerous swimming pools available to you amongst all 3 resorts and plenty of quiet space. The Marina side seemed to have the louder music and entertainment and was quite lively and fun! The other 2 resorts seemed a bit too quiet for my liking.
This resort is approximately 25-30 minutes from the Cancun airport.
For a 4.5 star resort, extremely pleased with our choice for this vacation!!

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Wonderful vacation
Resort is great for those who want relaxation and to chill out. Adults only. The music by the activities pool was not that loud and somewhat subdued. Mainly couples, and some friends/family/corporate/wedding groups. The various live performers each evening were amazing. The food overall good to very good. No reservations required and never had to wait if you go at their opening times. The service all around excellent. The 3 pools were 4'6" depth which is perfect to practise to swim. To get [... read more]a chair with an umbrella you should go down somewhat earlier but they caution to not leave unattended for more than 90 minutes. Rooms were well supplied. Odd numbered rooms in general more quieter (unless there is outside entertainment) as even numbered rooms faced the hotel AC fans blowing so you can hear them mildly all day and night running. I loved their app to know about the resort, restaurant menus and daily activities

Secrets The Vine Cancun: Review
Smaller, boutique resort. Very good staff, food was excellent, rooms were quite spacious, some of the items in room were a bit older and worn (such as hairdryer etc.) beach was lovely and could be viewed from balcony or pool. TRS Coral: Great hotel on a wonderful beach
Our last visit was pre-Covid, the hotel grounds have exploded, but are manicured and being maintained. The overgrowth is being replaced with new plantings and couldn't give a better feel or aesthetic. The rooms have not changed, are starting to show some very minor wear and tear. We had a swim out, pool side and one piece of the decking fell away ( likely due to previous guests having lots of fun on the edge of the deck) a call to the butler was all it took and within minutes maintenance was [... read more]there to complete the repair. My only criticism is that the drink service promissed at reception for our room, was mostly lacking. We had a difficult time flagging down the poolside servers. So, I'm not sure if that was an oversight on managments part, to communicate to the staff the need to service the few occupied pool side swim out rooms. During our week stay there were only 5 swim up rooms occupied from what we could see. Since this was a room we requested, but did not recieve upon arrival. We did have to pay a rather heafty premium to get the benefits of this room. Butler service was included in the pricing and we had the privilage of having Fernano and Carlos take excellent care of us. The turndown service was very nice. All the staff working in the restaurants were excellent. The SPA is amazing, a definite treat to have had a massage and endulge in the hydrotherapy. The beach was very clean, lots of sand and the water was lovely. The hotel offers a beach bar, with servers. They all work very hard and appear genuine when saying "its a pleasure" when you thank them. The towels are always plentiful and you can refresh without issue any time during the day. Premium , top shelf, liquour at the bars. Wine was not great, and the restaurants have what should be better options for purchase; however I found they were too pricy for me personally. Good wine comes in all price categories and TRS definitely has a focus on the higher end wines. I have a very specific allergy and they were most helpful in offering me suitable options. I would not hesitate to return to TRS Coral. You actually do get treated royally there!

Riu Latino: Very nice, clean, and fun resort
The hotel rooms were spacious, we had partial ocean view, 2nd floor. It was clean and had a liquor cabinet and restocked beer and beverage mini fridge. The second night, they put rose pedals all over the bed and floor, it was a nice surprise. The staff were all very friendly! All of the bars were clean and the staff were happy to be there. Coffee and food were also great. There were a lot of food options.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Relaxing Atmosphere
Clean and well maintained rooms, friendly staff. Entertainment staff are very nice. Could provide better shows, we enjoyed the 80’s music and Latino Band. We watched Origen at Tulum arena and that show was amazing and worth the $10.00. It was nice to be able to hop around Coba, Akumal, Tulum and Sian Kaan.

Riu Vallarta: Mostly good but some issues
Pros:
The hotel is beautifully. The staff amazing. Everything was spotless… they were constantly cleaning. Food was very good. Specialty restaurants were excellent
Cons:
The entertainment was terrible. There were a couple shows that were good but they were once a week. The local bands were great… everyone up dancing! But again twice a week. The other nights there was nothing. Every Friday there is a big RIU party but it is next door at the Jalisco. Extremely crowded… no sea[... read more]ts… more like a rave for teens but there were as many older couples as there were 20’s and there was nothing planned for us. Some boring evenings
Lack of restrooms near the pools and no restrooms in any of the restaurants. It was a long walk to the closest washrooms
Elevator in our area was out of service three times while we were there which involved a lot of extra walking and stairs… we have mobility issues so it was a big problem.
Lack of consistency with bartenders. Some were great and some you had to tell them how to make a drink. Hit and miss!
The pool water was like a bath. I know it was hot there but the water was not refreshing

Ventus Ha at Marina El Cid: Beautiful Resort
Went to the Ventus Ha very last minute with a friend, cannot say enough about the staff, food and beautiful pools. If you’re looking for a beach this place is not but you’ll always find a pool to suit the vibe you want. Enjoyed the water Zumba and aerobic classes and the unlimited a la carte restaurants.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: Beautiful resort, But...
The resort is absolutely beautiful. Very tropical looking. Kept very clean. However, although the staff works very hard, there is very little friendliness. Nobody was rude, just not friendly. There were a few exceptions, but in general we made no new friends on this trip. Also, the food tastes pretty good, but extremely repetitive, and not hot. Even though it's all in hot plate dishes, it was room temp most of the time. It's also an open air buffet, and most of the dishes were not covered, so fl[... read more]ies all over the food. Animation team worked very hard, but not enough of them. Maybe 5 of them for 2 pools and the beach. We hung out at the activity pool and didn't see them until 3 or 4 pm. Very boring. As beautiful as the resort was, and has so much potential, we would not book here again.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Mediocre resort, not 5 star quality
Food was the same in buffet for breakfast and lunch every day. We went to 3 of the restaurants (Mexican, Brazilian, Japanese) and they were all TERRIBLE! The Mexican was embarrassing considering we were IN MEXICO, it was like the dishes were all prepared beforehand and not fresh. The Brazilian was slow and none of the waiters talked to us/explained the process. All the meats were only offered once and VERY SALTY (and I typically like salt). The Japanese was the worst of all. We were excited to t[... read more]ake our daughter there to see all the tricks that they do at the teppanyaki table but the chef DID NOT DO ANY TRICKS!! We sat there in silence and watched him cook while the other tables around us laughed and cheered at the performances they got to watch. When I asked the waiter why our chef wasn't doing any tricks, I was told it was because he was "new and shy". We were very disappointed. The worst part of the hotel was that nothing was open to eat between 4:00pm and 6:30pm. My baby gets hungry around 5-6pm and that is when we usually give her dinner but we couldn't there. Luckily I brought a few containers so I would take food for her from the lunch buffet for dinner but we thought that was unacceptable! They should stagger the restaurant and buffet opening times. Overall the resort was quite large, we stayed mostly in the "quiet area" of the pool. I tried to go with my baby to the baby area called the Kangaroo room which has lots of great toys but it was not air conditioned so we ended up going to the room instead. I will choose a different resort for my family next time.

Riu Palace Peninsula: Very nice Hotel
Very Nice Hotel, big rooms with big balcony area, but the air conditioning is like you are in winter inside the room, room clean is everyday, several pools for all, a lot of entertainment there, BBQ in pool areas, good food, restaurant are good, I didn't like much the Japanese Restaurant, but this is me, coffee area is excellent I enjoyed it, and the 24 hrs Sport Bar too, hamacas section is nice too.
Beaches are nice and clean, they clean the zargaso every morning, some beach spots are rocky so [... read more]pay attention to it not to get injures if you fall inside the beach, I felt and got minor injuries. Staff is good but many times service is just for tips, so be sure sure to tip to get good service, reception people do their job but many problems with magnetic cards that allow you to open your room so you go many times to reception to get another magnetic card, is anoying.
Licking water inside the room often but they send technician, night shows are just music, only one day was really a good show, so a little noisy at night because of party people, I was expecting more shows, one small souvenirs store and a nice jewerly store, if you stay in this hotel you have access and eat at other Riu Hotels in Cancun and even you can ask to stay in other Riu Hotels if you want so is excellent option, you can order your breakfast to your room at no extra charges is you got the all included option, you can bring your plate with food from buffet to your room in case you want to eat in your room. All kind of beverage, so all options for drinking, this Hotel is for party people mainly, if you go Solo or you are quite person go for Villas option. Only 10 minutes by any Bus 12 Mex pesos to Shopping Mall Puerto Cancun with all brands and many boutiques from Spain, Cancun Downtown, Mercado 28 to buy artisan, La Isla, Kuiulkam Mall, Selecto supermarket very nice, other small malls and stores, and Cocobongo and others, location of the hotel is perfect if you want to walk and go shopping, only 30 minutes from Airport if no traffic. Staff speak English so no problem with this.
I booked with Trip Central and everything was OK.
In general good experience, I can go there again and also try other Riu Hotel, they have excelent options.
