Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Great vacation - stunning beach!

This resort has by far the best beach of any resort I've ever been to! The water is crystal clear and the water is quite shallow allowing for long walks and good swimming - and seeing some lovely star fish, trumpet fish and even a barracuda or 2. This was our first time in Cayo Coco and we'll definitely be back. The resort is older, but well maintained. The food was good, well prepared and a good selection too - especially the fruit - mango and guava were in season and pretty perfect. Pizza at the beach, poutine at the poolside snack bar and really good cappuccino and espresso martini's at the lobby bar. Our room was lovely, especially the close proximity to the beach and the outdoor shower. We went in June, which is rainy season so the mosquitos and fly's were pretty bad - but there is a lagoon on the property, lots of foliage - we will return, but not during rainy season. They have a pelican on property - Fico and it was a joy finding Fico at the beach, at the pool and every night by the entrance to the buffet - the hotel staff do feed Fico fresh fish daily and he's well cared for. Overall a great experience. Our room had water refilled daily, fresh towels daily. The staff really did go out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Great staff & service

I went to Iberostar daiquiri in April. And I again visited last week. The staff goes out out their way to accommodate you. Please remember you are visiting Cuba. There ARE food shortages which the government controls. Bring protein bars, peanut butter packs or snacks. The shows are fabulous along with singing in the lobby at times. Selectum Family Resort Varadero: Beautiful resort

This resort was amazing . I have been to Cuba 23 times and this resort was the best. It was spotless in all areas. The food was good. The rooms were big and spotless. Every worker was very polite and helpful in any way you needed them. I will definitely be returning.

Club Tropical: Compact hotel at a convenient location

Pros: Location is great, beach is well kept and clean. Some shows were well choreographed. Room was clean and the AC worked well. Got a nice beach view. Close to the flea market. Cons: Was on the 3rd floor, no elevators. NIghtly Entertainment was average. Limited cocktail mixes.

Don Lino Hotel: Keep it simple

If you like it simple the DL is the place.Helpful staff the food was good.the first time in 15 years that i could take a hot (not luke warm) anytime of the day. They even found me a horse to ride whenever it wasn t working.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Amazing Resort

Fabulous 5 stars hotel , one hour by bus from the airport, very nice beach, Excellent food ,Staff were extremely friendly, we stayed the first week of June , all days were sunny. one restaurant 24 Hrs, Very expensive COHIBA cigar to smoke in the cigar bar.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Hotel Could be a 5*

This place could be a 5* if it was kept cleaner. The rooms are very nice, however, not properly cleaned. I don't know if it was just the maid taking care of my section, or if it was a problem all over. My room was not cleaned, except for the bed, for my entire stay. The bugs that were on the floor on my first day, were there for the whole week. The bathroom vanity was not cleaned at all. The hair and the dirty glass was there all week. The bathrooms in the main area were disgustingly d [... read more]irty. I had to walk out when I tried to go use one. The seats in the buffet restaurant were very dirty. The fruit always had swarms of fruit flies on them. The plates always had flies sitting on them. There were always mosquitoes and flies all around the hotel grounds and areas, except for the beach. After dinner we would just to go to our rooms to avoid the mosquitoes. If all the above would be tended to, then this place would be a nice place to revisit. The beach is absolutely beautiful and that's what made up for everything else. I would recommend this hotel because it is nice, but like I said, only if these problems were addressed.

Memories Jibacoa: Beautiful resort!

I found the grounds to be very well maintained, picturesque and lush. Nice quiet, safe resort for a peaceful vacation. There was a high level of cleaning and disinfecting apparent. Staff in the dining areas were wearing masks and gloves. Food was delicious with lots of choices daily. The staff was friendly and very polite. The beach was amazing for walking, swimming, snorkelling and spectacular sunsets. Lots of live music to enjoy every evening. I would definitely return to this resort.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Disappointing.

Regarding the hotel stay, I am very disappointed.  First, the mosquitoes were constantly a problem.  It was impossible to watch the evening entertainment because of the mosquitoes. Everyone was complaining about this.  We came back covered in bites.  I was considering upgrading to the Club Privilege section but it was closed. Secondly, the food shortage in Cuba resulted in substandard food choice and quality.  Pumpkin seemed to be a substitute for fruit and vegetable ingredients through [... read more]out the menus. I lived on eggs for breakfast. For several days, they didn't have butter in the buffet for your bread and not at all in the a' la carte restaurants. They didn't even have ketchup, mustard, relish or mayonnaise as condiments.  Wine was only served in the a' la carte restaurants and coffee was not available in any the restaurants during lunch and dinner.  We had to go to the bars to get a coffee.  International alcohol was not evident. There was no room service despite this being listed in the advertising.  International alcohol was not evident. In my opinion, the hotel's description of services is misleading. Third, the economy and financial situation of the people in Cuba resulted in the staff always suggesting that guests provide tips.  Obviously they are not being paid enough by the Hotel(s) to make this an "All inclusive" destination. I would only give this a maximum 3 star rating at the best and we will never be returning to this resort.  In my opinion, you should take this hotel (and all others in this new resort area) off your vacation spots.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Still fresh.

You get the bang for the buck! But I would suggest bringing white Wine, ketchup or bbq sauce. Other than that everything was awesome. Always plenty of beach chairs with umbrellas at the beach and beach beds at the pool.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Decent hotel

I had a bit better expectations, but the hotel was decent. The location is really good but the rooms needs work. The waterflow in the washroom shower is extremely slow and there is no actual shower just the shower head. Also, the bedsheets were not clean. Food area was in the open and there were flies, and birds eating from it. We got food poisoning. However, they did open the indoor buffet area a couple of days before we were leaving and that was much cleaner and nicer. Overall, except for the food and average rooms everything else was quite decent. For a 5 star resort I had a bit better expectations but our stay was still fun. If I go back it will be only for the staff.

Iberostar Grand Packard: Just OK for a 5 star.

Room was great, clean with great ocean view. Although water pressure was an issue. Staff were super friendly and help full. Facilities are clean. In room coffee maker was awkward to use and produced weak coffee. Food was just so so in the main resturant. Has to send one meal back as it was served cold. Preferred to eat at local places in the city. Need more food selection in tapas bar. Quality and quantity in the breakfast buffet was excellent. Unrelated to the hotel, but in Havana you are constantly harassed with people wanting to change money, buy drinks, buy tours etc. Not my first time there and it's not the same old Havana. The economy is bad and the people are getting desperate, but no evidence of crime. Now for the bad part. The return flight was delayed appox 4 hours but the outbound flight was delayed over 7 hours. Received a $20 food voucher but it should be more. I need to find out more about a possible claim.

Hotel Los Cactus: Not the best 😕

Been to this resort 17 times, things have changed. Not for the good, didn't get the room i paid for, got a room overlooking the next door resorts service entrance and stinking garbage bins. Stayed one night got another room next morning, paid extra that room air conditioner quit in the middle of the night, next room, couldn't find the remote for the ac,4th room was perfect. Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: Very good resort!

The hotel is lovely as are the grounds. The hotel is new so it has nice, modern features. Everything is immaculately clean! Staff is friendly and service is great. The food, for a Cuban resort, is very good. The buffet had a nice selection of fresh vegetables for salads, not a huge selection of fruit but it was fresh and delicious. Playa Luxury Cayo Las Brujas: nice resort

beautiful grounds, and as for Cuba - a lot of palm trees , sadly there was no shade at the pools, no palapas , no umbrellas so you chase the shade from palm trees , lucky for us it was easy as there was only 38 guest at the resort at the time lol , only two restaurants opened - one for breakfast and lunch , and one a la carte for supper. Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Not the vacation we expected

This was our first time in Cuba and will be our last. We did research, read lots of reviews, talked to friends & family so we didn’t go with very high expectations. We were not prepared for what we walked into, the bugs were so bad, we were swarmed every time we left the room. We finished 2 full bottles of bug spray but it didn’t seem to work. The only safe place was the room after you killed the ones that got in while you were running into the room. The second big issue was the food, I was prepared for bland food and same food options everyday but I was not prepared for the whole family to be sick after each meal. By the end of the trip we started skipping meals just to avoid being sick. The buffet was filled with bugs on the food and stains all over the chairs. We got home 2 days ago and we are still recovering. The staff was OK but mostly seemed like they didn’t want to be there or help. We were supposed to get 3 restaurant dinners but they said only one restaurant was available for one day. Only 2 waters delivered per day for a room with a family of 4 so we would have to go to the bar and hope they had water. We were ready to go home within 3 days and actually booked our next trip while we were there because we didn’t feel like it was a vacation at all. Very disappointed.

Melia Cayo Santa Maria: A wonderfull resort

I have been to Cuba many times the food at this resort was the best there were no shortages the staff were great in all areas my room was clean and of course the best beach lots of chairs I had a great week and will be returning

Melia Costa Rey: Pullman Cayo Coco

This resort was ok. But it needs lots of renovations. The rooms were good. Our cleaner was wonderful, kept our place very clean. Food was ok, as expected being in Cuba. All the Cuban staff were wonderful. They do their very best. Drinks need improvement. The beach was excellent also the pools. The Cuban people are the best. Next time we go to Cuba it won't be during rainy season. So many mosquitoes and flies.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Amazing Resort!

It is our multiple trip to this resort over the last few years. Recently it was our second trip in this year (April 10th and May 29th we stayed for one week). The resort is very clean with very friendly and cooperative staff which happily helped us with some of our requests. Upon my request, as I am a professional musician I was granted the opportunity to have access to play the piano anytime that it was available at this resort. Entertainment always had lots of variety, as well as variety of food selection (our daughter is vegan and was quite satisfied with the food selection). Our room housekeeper named Lilian carried out her job well. The high speed Wifi was free for 3 hours and was always renewed (also for free) at the front desk with no problem. There’s a nice beach that was divided into two parts, one across from the main building and another one a few meters further, so there was more than enough room for everyone. There were lots of umbrellas next to the lounge chairs. There was a bungalow section with another swimming pool, beach bar, and Ranchon restaurant. We won’t hesitate to return back to this resort. The price was good: $745 CAD between May 29 to June 5. We strongly recommend this resort.

Hotel Playa Coco: Disappointed

Well where do I start? Love the Cuban people they are so deprived and the workers/ gardener's,they ask you to bring them food from buffet.They use to appreciate tips but not this time...we were tipping every one everywhere. We happen to just get off the catermran and gave the guy a great tip and wanted a drink at the beach bar on the way back. The food was not alot of choices and was cold at lunch and dinners. And if it wasn't for the omletes in the morning it would have been horrible. The Cuban restaurant was delicious!!! Now about our room after checking out 5 rooms in search of one without a overwhelming stench of mold and mildew. They all smell don't forget these rooms have been closed up tight for 2 years of covid.We found one least of the smell but on the third floor. We are older and M many stairs to climb daily.Guest at motel are so friendly and like myself is a repeat customer.In which they had a really lovely dinner for us all. The beach is beautiful, so it is at pullman, a much nicer resort with plenty of food and no mold or mildew. I will not likely return to cayo coco but instead spend my money somewhere else. When I go away i want to be pampered, eat good and not be serving the workers...Feeling sorry for the Cuban people is not enough to get me back.
