Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Nice resort/Beautiful beach

Beautiful hotel with a beautiful beach. Very clean and the service was great. Unfortunately I was very disappointed in the food and entertainment although the entertainment before dinner at the bar was quite nice. It was the same entertainment at the pool everyday which became annoying after a few days. Quite often what we ordered at the a la carte restaurants was not what we received. This hotel is not wheelchair or stroller friendly at all and some walkway areas were not lit at night and  [... read more]it took them several days to fix the lighting after I mentioned it at the front desk. I will not return to this hotel as I felt I did not get a lot of value for what I paid.

Melia Las Dunas: Best for your money

Beautiful resort, amazing beach, top pick for your dollar. I am a 3rd time visitor (I was actually in the first group that went to this resort) and I am glad that it's still up there. I define try recommend it.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great staff, great beach

The staff is so super nice, they made our vacation all the more pleasant. We stayed in room 350 and had a view of the ocean. The beach is gorgeous, with super soft white sand. Windsurf, paddle boat, kayaks and catamarans are available at the beach. The food is not the best but all the other qualities more than make up for that department. Definitely recommended!

Royalton Cayo Santa Maria: OK resort, needs some renovations.

Service: Best service offering I've ever had. This hotel basically includes all the "options" other all-inclusive resorts offer, such as room towel service, a beach waiter - both food and drinks, and free boat rentals. It's relatively tranquil, never feels crowded. Ample space at the beach, I've never waited in line, not even for the check-in or checkout. Feels premium, for the most part. They serve Chivas in the main bar. Can't complain. On the other side, waiters "forgot" my order multi [... read more]ple times. I would ask for a glass of water and a coffee, they forget the coffe for example. Or I ask for an Alexander and a coffee, again the same thing. The live music every single night was awesome, though the musicians sometimes appear to be chosen for their looks first and ability second. Food : Loved the smoked salmon and the croissants in the morning. Could have a bit more variety in the fruit department though. The hotel lists a buffet in its description, but there is none. What they do offer, is access to the Memories buffet next door. All of their 3 restaurants are a la carte, and there's no pictures of the food before you order. I've been suprised both negatively and positively, multiple times. Misleading, and dissapointing for me personally, since buffets are one of the main reasons I go in resorts. Facilities : The hotel does show its age. Our room key cards had to be reprogrammed every single day, sometimes more than once. The toilet seat was so worn, it had permanent black stains on it. The view from the main lobby towards the ocean, while great, is tainted by dirty / dark cracks in the concrete around the pool. 80% of the palapas had huge holes in them, so you could never cover your body completely in the shade. It does need renovations to feel like a proper 5+ hotel again. Overall : The hotel caters to middle aged to older individuals. It does have a nice service offering, but the service itself can sometimes be a bit lacking. Breakfast is complete and efficient, but the lack of a buffet is disconcerting.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: AMAZING PLACE

WE ENJOYED THE TIME TO STAY THERE. BEACH IS great. Only need to improve is the food quality . The resort is clean and the people are nice too. Our room hair dryer was bad and made us to keep call for repairing.

The hotel was gorgeous and the service was wonderful. The beach was one of the best I have seen but after that I don't have much positive to say. The food was not good at all and the selection was poor. One of the food venues was not opened all week...not sure why. The entertainment was scarce and not good either except the bands that were in the bar area in the early evening....they were quite good. The gym was very nice with an attendant on hand at all times. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great resort

Overall great experience. The staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Resort is clean but as it is very new, there were still a lot of renovations and some things need to be fixed. The beach is the best, soft sand and beautiful clear water. Something that can be worked on is the food as options are very limited.

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: Resort to come back to!

We spent a week in Cuba (July 24 - 31). Stayed at Playa Cayo. The whole family plans to come back again soon. Kind-hearted/very helpful staff, clean rooms, gorgeous beach ( great for kids), excellent food (big variety for any choice).

Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Aweful dont ever go

Rooms were dirty, couldnt get enough towels, beds so old had to hunt down maid to change the sheets which was only once in a week, had to spray raid inside the room for the bugs, never could get a beach towel hut was always closed, they cant cook starved to dealth, sprayed twice daily with deet for mosquitos with a truck bombing the place with massive clouds of smoke you inhale and no for warning to the guests, too many locals never could get service they dont tip we did and were ignored, i paid [... read more] threw the roof and was treated so rude, do not go to this resort

Melia Las Dunas: Great resort

The grounds were kept up. Lots of walking. There needs to be more air conditioned areas especially when you visit during Cuba's summer. Beach is outstanding! Pool area needs to be monitored, lot of disrespectful tourists eating in the pool garbage all over the deck! I didn't take my family there because we went for the ocean not the pool! Gran Muthu Cayo Santa Maria: Good food great beach and staff

The hotel was clean, staff was great, food was good. Overall a great trip. The beach is like walking on butter and the water is crystal clear. Would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Alot of grilled fish and other meats and a great breakfast buffet with lots of options

Playa Cayo Santa Maria: A good resort

We upgraded the room to sea view room. The view was spectacular and quiet. The place was great and the food was great. Beside the snack bar, there is a very good fish and chip restaurant . Our flights from Toronto to Cuba and Cuba to Toronto were upgraded to business class. Thank you Air Canada. We truly enjoyed our trip and visit. However, there are some minor issues as listed below: 1) We found a small cockroach in our room. A day later, fire ants were also coming into the room. We asked [... read more] the hotel to spray some insecticide but they did not acknowledge. I had to use liquid soap to stop the ant attack. 2) The room was also congested with too much furniture (i.e. an extra sofa) so there was virtually no walking room. There was less than a foot of space between the bed and the sofa. I stubbed my toes on it a few times. We asked the hotel to remove the sofa, but again they did not do it. Other rooms that had the same configuration as ours did not have the sofa. 3) For a beautiful sea view, there were no outdoor chairs to sit on. We asked for it and they again did not acknowledge. Stupid management! 4) There were very few cooked vegetable choices. 5) The buffet restaurant was like being in a huge cafeteria: noisy and busy. It was necessary to line up for food for 15-20 minutes at a cooking station (i.e. meat, fish or eggs etc.) The line ups would block access to the food on the buffet so you would need to excuse yourself to reach in to access the buffet food.

Memories Paraiso: Good Value - Great Beach

I have mixed feelings about the trip. The reviews about the food are true so if you are a foodie, not for you. We ate whatever was being grilled that day and had some vegetables. The buffet was beans, mashed potatoes, cut up hot dogs etc. We went to two a la cartes, Italian- I had pasta , it was fine just no different than what was in the buffet. With respect to the buffet area, nice entertainment for lunch and dinner-live bands- very enjoyable. Our rooms were clean, and the maid left us daily hand written notes notes. Our closet door was broken and our toilet was temperamental. We paid extra for Diamond Club and was disappointed that we were not aware of the benefits, we spoke to some others at the end of the trip that brought us up to date. We stumbled across the Diamond Club beach area. Our rep told up that Diamond club members had a 3 o'clock check out which was useful. There was a sitting area for Diamond Club members, we sat there for a bit one night but there was an unattended bar and no service. We are ocean people so we spent our days at the ocean, beautiful, clean and clear lot of sea shells. The main pool was not very clean, probably from overuse. Apparently we went off season and there were alot of cubans, which was great except that they pretty much kept to themselves and definately were given preferential treatment at bars and in the hotel. The Catamaran cruise we went on was awesome. Great service, clean boat, lobster for lunch, dolphins and great snorkeling. However, I thought I was paying 89 cuban pesos when I got home my visa was charges 250 Canadian. Same with the vip lounge at the airport..I thought it was 25 pesos my visa was charge 70 cad. Not impressed. There we also alot of cats on the premises. Jamaica had the same. Not a fan and guests were feeding them. We went on this trip last minute and paid 1550.00 for 2. I would not pay more.

the resort is beautiful clean ocean is amazing Little disappointed in the variety of food not much variety at dinner. staff is amazing very friendly. Service in the restaurants are very slow but overall your going for the beach entertainment was great. I would definitely go again.

Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great vacation at Ocean Casa del Mar

We stayed at Ocean Casa del Mar, Cuba the week of July 1st -July 8th 2016. There is a 1h30min trip from airport to hotel which we took as a bonus- a excelent opportunity to see a bit of real Cubafor free. Very nice and modern resort, brand new, we had an extremely clean room very close to everything. The beach is long, with beautiful sand, ocean had crystal clear water and we had a lot of shadow on the beach - many chairs to sit and enjoy. Pools were great, service received was excel [... read more]lent everywere we went (lobby bar, buffet, restaurants,beach, pools). All staff were going far and beyoind our expectation trying to make our stay an unforgetable one. We also enjoyed food and the night shows were great. A disco was also available for late party each night. Overall, based solely on our own experience, it was a great vacation and we will return withourt hesitation. Memories Paraiso: very affordable !

We spent 7 nights in July, which was not busy so perfect ! Once they finally gave us the room (two nights later) we reserved (king bed) things were great. Cuba is not know for its food and it didnt disappoint. The grounds are lovely...well looked after, pool was cleaned daily. The staff, as always, are eager to please. We found this to be a great value for what we paid. It was a quick get away during low season so not overly crowded. Melia Las Dunas: Beautiful beach

This resort was great, lots of choices at the buffet and the service was was great too. We loved the entertainment in the evenings especially, a lot of it started around 7 so the kids could really enjoy it too. The 24h lobby bar and snack bar were really handy too, as we left the resort at 630 am All in all a great vacation I would definitely return

Roc Lagunas del Mar: FANTASTIC!!

We were there at the end of June for our 20th Wedding Anniversary-the staff were super accommodating, polite, eager to please. Rooms were clean, modern, bright--daily cleaning, towels and fridge filled everyday. The beach was great for us, you have a rocky side and a sandy beach side--my husband took plenty of joy of snorkeling around the rocks to see all the fish. Hotel Roc Casa del Mar: Great however issues

The resort it self is amazing we were thrown back how beautiful it looked when we stepped in the lobby real high class!!! Beach was amazing white powder sand and the water was so beautiful blue as the sky felt like I was in a heated pool!! Big let down was I have health issues and when my wife went to the front desk she had no help no doctor and really no help from the front desk I felt better after a few hrs but was worried I would need medical attention. Food was ok buffet was ok could be better but the other high class restaurants were better!!! It's a 2 HR drive from the airport to the resort however u see a lot. It's not 100% open they have markets and stuff disappointed we couldn't go there. Over all it is a nice place to go to
