Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing Resort

Lovely resort loaded with great options. Food, drinks, staff and entertainment were all amazing. We had a very nice time with friends and would use this resort again if we decide to travel to Mexico again. Very impressed with all the resorts we had access to. Buffets, a la carte dining rooms were awesome. Only thing that we did through Air Transat was the shopping at the jewellery store and in some town which we do not recommend due to shady people. Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great Resort

We had a wonderful experience at this resort, from the food to the service everything was great. The only complaint was the shopping trip we took that was suggested by our Air Transat advisor. We were harassed and offered cocaine and other drugs while out shopping on their 5th avenue. It was quite distressing. The shopping experience felt sketchy from the get go. My advice to travelers.... stay on the resort it was absolutely beautiful.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Think twice

My first experience at an all-inclusive. Probably my last time too. The resort is nice and spacious. The rooms have good beds that are comfortably. Food is good. Although limited. No alcohol until 12 Noon. Limited beer in the room fridge. I thought that being by the pool enjoying the sunshine that I could get a drink or two without having to walk to get it! No light snacks for the evening. Made things challenging, our daughter is living with type 1 diabetes and requires snacks. Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: A model resort

The grounds are well kept and very clean, room is spacious and beautiful ocean views, staffs are fantastic, they truly care with a smile on their face, the beach is nice and wide. Love all the amenities like the stand up paddle they were awesome accommodating my 3 year old son, tried their photograph Nilo was great at capturing my children’s attention, Rubi for aqua fit did a great

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Almost perfect

We really loved our stay at grand sirenis. The rooms were large and clean and the bathrooms were incredible. The drinks were done with love. Good quality and real ingredients. The lazy river was a major plus too. The location is awesome as we were able to go to the ruins and cenotes on our own within a half hour. The spa was also very nice. The night time became repetitive and a little boring if you don’t want to go to the night entertainment or if you want to do something after the show there are no further activities other than the disco which sat empty except for a few kids. Even the sports bar had only 2 pool tables and they were always busy. They really need to have something else going on in terms of adult activity seeing as the pools and beach are no longer an option after 6. Either way we had a great time during the day. One thing I will note about the hotel that left us with a bad taste in our mouths was they kept leaving us notes on our door for a free gift. First it was an additional a la carte reservation which we ignored then a spa water circuit. The note said it was in exchange for 1hr and a half of our time. The concierge told us it was because they were celebrating their 10 years and it was strictly a promotional thing. So we thought, can’t hurt. 1 1/2 hrs ofmlistening to them talk and we get a spa circuit. I’m warning you. Whatever you do. Don’t accept any gifts from them. It’s not worth it. We received two phone calls from the concierge making sure we would show up... we were met by a sales man who had breakfast with us and tried to find out everything he could about us, our income, the types of travelers we were.... he showed us the presidential suites and started talking to us about a membership plan. The man was trying to sell us a timeshare. He took us to a room where other salesmen were working on other guests and after 3 hours we began to ask when it would be over. We wanted to enjoy the limited time we had left in the sun. He ignored the question. Then salesmen started standing up and announcing that their guests just bought memberships and the room started clapping. It felt gross to be honest. So we turned to him and told him that we weren’t interested and never were. We were promised a gift for listening to a 90min presentation and they already had us for 3 hours. So he nodded to a man across the room to take over. We told the next guy that we appreciated their efforts but we weren’t their demographic. He ignored the comment and started showing us things and saying “but I guess this isn’t for you because you don’t like Nice things”. So after the fourth time he said that sentence we stopped him and asked him what exactly he was trying to do. “When someone says no you must respect that. Now please let us out.” Then he got aggressive with us and started asking “yeah? Well then why did you come here? Why did you come to this resort if you hate it so much? If you’re so above it? Fine! Presentation over! It’s over!” But then he nodded to a third person who now took his place and wanted a quick word. We repeated that we wanted to be released now because it’s gone on too long and we didnt agree to do this for three hours, and we were not interested in their timeshare. She looked at us and said she worked directly for the owner and she needed to finish her part so just bare with it just a while longer... after, we had never been more relieved to be released from something, and couldn’t believe the extent of pushy, not to mention the sales tactic of offending our personal travel choices to “show us the light”...I am still angry about it. We came back to our room to find a third note under our door letting us know that if we “changed our mind about joining the family they’d still be there” ... ugh. I wish we hadn’t witnessed this or our thoughts would be “perfect place..And we highly recommend it”, but they showed us their motivations and weren’t even gracious about it. So point being is to enjoy it for what it is and do not accept gifts from the resort

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Would not recommend

Food was good, drinks were good, entertainment was the same every day just different outfits, couldn’t move lawn beds at all which was annoying because they were not always facing the sun just found this resort had too many rules

Grand Sunset Princess: Would not go back again. To many animals.

The hotel, grounds etc. are kept very clean. However, the beach is a mess. The water is brown for about 10 feet into the ocean. I heard it was the underground swamp draining into the ocean. Its smells. But the really bad thing about this resort is that there are Coaties (raccoons) everywhere, and they are very aggressive. They are in your beach bags and in your food. There is an area on the beach to eat that is a caged in area. When you are eating in there, they are climbing all over the ca [... read more]ge looking for food. Not very sanitary. As for the front desk, very slow and not very helpful. Would I go back? Never.

JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar: It’s ok

The resort is beautiful, rooms are nice. But for us wasn’t the a good experience won’t go back to an Iberostar. Was given a room on the main hallway so throughout the night and day you hear everybody walking and talking which kept us up most the evening which was horrible. Tried to get a different room but they wouldn’t allowed us to up grade because 40% of the better and quieter rooms, ocean front after left empty for there Iberostar premiere guest/timeshare. We had a horrible first day w [... read more]ith getting a bad room which was actually an upgrade quite pool view, do not get probably one of the worst rooms. Being pressured by staff to go the there timeshare presentation. We wants to get photos done but took 4 days to have someone actually there. Everyday when the butler staff sees you they hunt you down looking to get you things which when you do ask takes hours to get. We had a ask for more water everyday and was always a pain to get. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Well unless your retired the staff seemed to always be getting them everything

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing Resort

All I can say is this resort was well worth the trip. We did a family trip and our kids absolutely loved it. Food: Fresh always, always a variety a la carts were outstanding especially the Japanese! Beach: The most gorgeous beach we’ve ever been to in all the Caribbean, water was warm, waves were moderate sand was clean! So much life to the beach. Breathless Riviera Cancun: Nice place but never return

To sit around the entertainment at the pool you had to buy a bottle of champagne no if ands or butts otherwise you had to stay in the pool at the exhilarate The champagne bottles started at $160 US to a crazy amount of 12,000 US they try and nickel and dime you for hanging around the pool when the shows were on It was the same dancers every day dancing the same but in different outfits lol To sit around the dance floor at the nightclub bar you also had to buy champagne or you had to stand w [... read more]ay in the back overall experience would never go back , nice place but give up trying to sell a champagne bottle

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Amazing Vacation!

From the moment we stepped on and off the plane we were impressed with the service from AirTransat! Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful with any questions we had. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the bellman to help with our luggage, very prompt and friendly! Check-in was easy and fast. Lobby appeared to be clean and not too busy. Our room upon arrival was clean and tidy. Perhaps a little on the older side and did smell a little bit musty. We left the f [... read more]ront door and patio door open for a bit every day to air out the room. We frequented the buffet quite a few times on this trip. We always found something yummy to eat! We did eat at 2 a la carte restaurants, Arlequin and Mediterranio. The latter was a large group dinner for 19 people, they were extremely accommodating with giving us a set menu as well as catering to some allergies in the group. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the Luxury Bahia Principe Akumal. The activities/entertainment crew were absolutely amazing! A special shout out to Semeh (Sam?!) and Victor (#2) who were so fun and inclusive with everyone! The musical entertainment was out of this world. We look forward to visiting the resort again in the future!

The Sens Riviera: Sunscape Akumal Beach Resort and Spa

Was advertised as a newly renovated hotel and it was still under renovations. Very disappointing. Beach lounge chairs were so uncomfortable, never went back to the beach. Food was fair. Employees were friendly and most willing to help.

Breathless Riviera Cancun: Exacly what I needed

I chose Breathless Riviera Cancun to have the best of all worlds: a packed activities schedule, ample relaxation, tasty dining experiences, and friendly customer service. I traveled alone but never felt lonely with the kind and attentive recreation, bar, and wait staff. The resort is fairly new with beautiful, clean, modern rooms. The resort is on the smaller side, but there were plenty of dining and bar options. The scallops at the French restaurant and the NY strip at the steakhouse were my fa [... read more]vourites. The entertainment was awesome; I enjoyed the bubble party and the daytime pool and poolside fitness classes. I'm not much of a night club person but after dark there was great music (sometimes live), lights, and a wonderful crowd of fellow happy vacationers that I did enjoy briefly before going to sleep. I went in November when there was intermittent rain but still had a great time. My only words of caution are: (1) Please be careful when the floors outside of the rooms are wet because they can be quite slippery. (2) I'm from Vancouver so I know and love Asian food. The resort's Asian-themed restaurant's hibachi grill was a lot of fun and definitely something to reserve for but I'd suggest saving the sushi for when you're back at home.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Great Family Destination

We traveled as a group of six aged 9-43 and there was something for all of us at this resort. The kids enjoyed the bowling lanes, and my older children took in a foam party sponsored by Coco Bongo. We enjoyed the monkeys living on the resort grounds. The pools were refreshing and the drinks were strong. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Our rooms were clean and had ample room. Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: An anniversary get away

The resort was clean, quiet and the staff on the whole looked after us very well. The beaches were great, some had entertainment happening near by and some were quiet and relaxing which is what we were looking for. The food was fine, al la carte restaurants were good and the buffet was okay. The shows at night time were good and enjoyable. We are considering returning in the future.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Amazing

This was our 3rd time at the blue bay Esmeralda . Everything was perfect we got the rooms that we requested . The staff at the resort are fantastic and go above and beyond to get everything you need. Food very good . Pool great, beach very clean . All in all great time was had by all the family!

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Beyond pleased service

This hotel went beyond the call of duty. Even the hotel manager Richardo R went out of his way to get towel for the beach. Unlike resorts in Dominican Republic when you have an issue, all of a sudden no one speaks English. These people at platinum resorts listened to every concern w hi rich wasn't many beyond towels. The foods were AMAZING. The drinks were plentiful and a very vast selection. We are looking forward to going back next year. Simply amazing!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Excellent hotel and vacation

The hotel and grounds are exceptionally well maintained. Staff were excellent and extremely professional and friendly. The food was excellent in main dinning rooms and restaurants. Mexican Night was delicious. Shows were very good.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Everything you want in a resort and more

This is my third time back to the Occidental at Xcaret Destination and it still is one of my favorite resorts in the Caribbean. The resort is built around the lush natural grounds with walking trails. There are Mayan Ruins on the property that date back over 1500years. With all the greenery you will find on the resort monkeys, just playing around in the trees and from time to time they will hang out on your balcony if you are in or around buildings 18 & 19. There are flamingos and deer on site [... read more] along with the most recent addition of Bambi a baby deer that is being raised by the wonderful staff that work at this hotel. She is like a puppy she gives kisses all over and you can pet her for hours. She is the sweetest. Parrots are partnered and placed throughout the main lobby areas of the resort. there are turtles and countless iguanas and geckos. You will see little furry animals as well going about their daily business. The inlet is amazing, you have calm waters (especially great for thoes with little kids) with hundreds of tropical fish and minnows from the ocean that hang out there all day so bring your snorkels as there is much to see in this part of the ocean. Food is fantastic there is always something for everyone. You no longer have to make reservations for the a la carts. It is first come first serve. We never had to wait for a table but do keep in mind we went the first week of November and the resort was not at capacity. The steak at all the a la carts was amazing. Tender and delish definitely recommend. Don't forget to check out the Xcaret Eco Park that is right next door however admission is aproximately $100US per adult and $50US per child. There is also a nightly Mayan ritual that is held in the lobby at 7pm weeknights. It is definitely worth seeing. The resort is big however there are carts that go around the resort and will stop and pick you up and take you to your destination if you don't want to walk through all the nature. Again, this resort will not disappoint so do check it out.

The Sens Riviera: Nice Beach, and Very Friendly Staff, BUT the Resort is Very dated.

The resort is advertised as New, but in reality it is one of the oldest resorts in the Mayan Rivera (over 30 years old). It has changed hands recently, and they are calling it new. We had a fair amount of rain, and many of the main rooms were leaking badly. ie: plastic buckets in the lobby, and some of the restaurants. The whole experience was OK, but definitely not 5 STARS. Nice Beach, and Very Friendly Staff. Would we go back to this resort?..... definitely not
