Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Just Average - Dreams P.C.
My wife and I and 2 sons,, aged 17 and 19, have travelled to many locations in the Caribbean, including the Dominican Republic on 3 occasions, (Margarita, Antigua, St. Lucia, Aruba, Turks & Caicos, and others) in the tropics. So, we know what we want and for many of the things we were seeking, Dreams Punta Cana was only average.
1. Beach: Very important to our family and this was an unabashed disaster! up to 4 feet of seaweed on the beach with almost no effort by the staff to remove it. We[... read more] are a beach (not pool) family, so the sight of this much seaweed rotting in the 32C heat was smelly, to say the least. We were unable to swim in the water due to this problem,, so my teenage boys were not pleased.. I feel that our travel agent should have identified this issue for the summer months in the DR, in order to choose another appropriate resort to suit our needs.
2. Room: Satisfactory but not exceptional for an upgraded swim-out room. The usual smell of mold and mildew which is commonplace in tropical locations was definitely evident in our room, and in our son's room. Not inviting.
3. Food: Buffet was good, but food selection was pretty much the same every day. If you choose not to upgrade (cash grab) to a "Preferred Guest" level, you can only eat lunch and breakfast at the buffet and not select restaurants - disappointing.
4. Restaurants: Although there is advertized over 6 restaurants at the resort, Oceania and Bordeaux were closed for about half of our 7 day vacation for supper. We were not expecting this and when we are on vacation, we expect full access to all restaurants (and all other facilities) every day that we are there.
5. Towels: The towel booth opened at8:00 am each morning and by 8:45 am, they were all gone. Replenishment usually arrived not until 11:00 am, so this definitely needs to be improved. Since the beach was not useable, most of the resort population hung around the pool, resulting in this towel shortage, Unacceptable -.
6, People: The Dominican people could not have been warmer or more hospitable with us - a truly welcoming staff at Dreams PC, and we were honoured to have visited their island. Hi Juana, Ramirez, El and Guadaloupe!
7. Sales Hype: We found it a bit much to be inundated with sales folks trying to sell you a time share or excursion, almost every time you walked in the lobby - hold the brakes on that please. :-)
Overall rating: 6/10. Probably would not return.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Decent
Adequate could be better. Seaweed on beach. Wine was like water. Food was 6.5/10. Steak not thick and juicy at steak restaurant, it was more like thin and dry. For the money that you pay i would expect better food and better entertainment for the children!

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: Fantastic Time
We had an amazing vacation at Dreams Punta Cana. The resort is really beautiful, with a winding pool and lush gardens.
The rooms are nothing special but were very clean. The entire facility is clean, well cared for and beautiful. The food was delicious and varied. We enjoyed the buffet and the specialty restaurants.
The staff is the standout at the resort. They are so friendly and helpful…servers, cooks, bar staff, cleaners, concierge and entertainment staff. Everyone we encountered was ni[... read more]ce. They really helped make our stay special. Shout out to Benjamin Franklin who popped by poolside to say hello everyday.
I would definitely recommend the resort!

Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana: It was ok overall
Beautiful grounds, mediocre food even for Punta Cana standards. Most food was either too salty or too sweet. Also limited food options. The pool was fabulous. It was super spacious and the pool bar was great. The beach was ok…brown sand and many waves. The water isn’t as clear as Cuban and Jamaican beaches. First room we got was so small. There were 3 of us and we barely had enough room to move around. We were able to switch to a slightly bigger room which made our stay more comfortable. Man[... read more]agement was very kind and helpful. This hotel isn’t worth the money we paid for though.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Nice to Travel Again......
Dreams Dominicus La Romana is a beautiful , immaculate & spacious resort approximately 1 hour drive away from the hotel. The grounds and gardens are well manicured and preserved. The best part of the Dominican Republic to me has always and will always be the Dominican people. Their warmth, kindness and engaging nature is infectious. Needless to say, the staff in all areas (i.e. Bellman team, housekeeping , dining, car, front desk, customer service kiosk, etc.) were all extremely attentive an[... read more]d dedicated to making our stay as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
The hotel room was spacious, clean and well lad out. Our housekeeper, Ramona was fantastic and provided service with a smile. The mini fridge was always topped up, we had fresh towels daily and hot water was never an issue.
We did not take in a lot of evening shows but the Circus show was spectacular and reminiscent of Cirque de Soleil.
Food was okay both at the buffet and A La Cartes. The staff work as a team to ensure your needs are met in the dining room and tips while appreciated are not expected. We tipped accordingly. Yesenia was a stand out in the World Cafe for us. No reservations necessary, they are all first come, first served. The Japanese restaurant appeared to be particularly popular, given the long lines but we did not attend. We did go to the Seafood Grill & the Italian restaurant which were both okay. Dreams offers room service with a menu to choose from. It usually takes around 45 minutes from the time of order to the time of delivery. It should be noted that menus are different to ones previously posted online from travellers and that you will need to take your phone with you to access menus via QR codes at both the restaurants & a channel on your t.v. You can also have lunch on the pier as long as there are no events going on.
Drinks / Bar - readily available and served with a smile with the exception of one miserable male bartender at the beach bar & grill who didn't seem too eager to fill our Bubba mugs, even though it would mean fewer visits from us and no one would have to make sure we cleaned up after ourselves.
The Spa was gorgeous and clean. We had massages which we enjoyed and then were given 1 hour in the hydrotherapy section where you could find a Jacuzzi, pool and cold pool on the roof so you still had access to the sunshine and fresh air.
The beach was not to our standard and a little disappointing, in that, it was unkempt and a lot of erosion had taken place. There was a lot of seaweed and rock at the base in front of the hotel, as you entered the ocean. A problem that could easily be resolved by having a crew attend to this every morning. It definitely does not look like it does in the picture. However, once you waded into the water it was warm and reasonably clear. We found it more enjoyable to walk a short distance towards Catalonia hotel and enter the ocean there as it would appear as though they cleared their section of the beach. It was also notable that there was a divide between "preferred guests" (paid upgrade) area & the commoner section. They had a security guard monitoring the area. Loungers in both sections were much closer than we would have liked if the hotel was fully booked. We observed that towels were laid out on all loungers in the "preferred guest" section to give the illusion that it was busier than it was, and collected at the end of the day. Beach towels were handed out according to preferred guests versus commoners. No difference in the access to the beach, only lounge chairs / cabana like structures.
Souvenir shops were available on site and market vendors were present on two of the seven nights we were there. There's also a vendor market on the beach if you go left of the pier.
Saona Catarman Tour - there were two options for two different prices. one was $80 U.S & the other was $90 US. We opted for the latter taking in Blue Lagoon Beach (which includes lunch), Natural Pool & Saona Island. The crew was entertaining and lots of music en route. Our favourite stop was the Natural Pool, we could have stayed there the entire day and been happy. Deep Lagoon was a nice beach. Saona was a disappointing due to lots of beach shoreline erosion.
Air Canada Terminal @ Pearson International - we arrived early given the horror stories we had heard from others about getting through security in the post COVID era. Thankfully, we had checked in online and only had to do luggage drop off. There were Air Canada staff available to assist with the check in kiosks and we moved through this section rather quickly ,ten minutes at the most. The security line was busy but we managed to clear security in around 35 minutes & people were generally cordial. Upon return, we fully expected to be waiting on the tarmac, to our surprise we were in the terminal within five minutes. Customs & luggage pick up 30 minutes total. We made arrangements for curb side pick- up.
Airport Punta Cana, Dominican Republic - This international airport knows how to clear passengers coming and going. I was last in the D.R 25 years ago and this experience was no different. It doesn't seem to matter how many people are moving through the terminal, they clear house in 15-20 minutes and send you on your way. (And yes, I mean customs, luggage and in your mode of transportation). Impressive. Upon our return, same thing. We did online check in, dropped off our luggage and cleared security within 15-20 minutes.
Dominican Republic Online Form for entry & exit of the country were pretty straight forward once you understood what they were asking of you. It's basically their customs declaration card & a few COVID screening questions. For return, it seemed like they just wanted to make sure the person leaving was the same person who entered. Both forms generated QR codes which you needed at the airport coming & going respectively.
ArriveCan - what a waste of time. A lot of rig-a-mo-roll for nothing. It generated a QR code which no one asked for upon return, so unless it's linked to your passport in some way, I couldn't tell you why it was necessary to fill out. You still have to complete the Canadian declaration form via kiosk upon your return in the arrival terminal. Green sticker on your passport and you're good to go. Pink sticker means you have been randomly selected for COVID screening.
This was a much needed break for us and we found ourselves able to relax & feel safe at this resort.

Dreams Playa Bonita Panama: Gorgeous Grounds
Great Location, close to Panama City. Great Pool and Beach Area. Staff were friendly and really accommodating. The Hotel was clean but aged slightly. Food was really good, only thing was not all the restaurants were open every day but that might have been due to the resort being empty. On our departure due to the airport not having any facilities, the staff made us a packed lunch to take on the bus, which was amazing of them.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Stellar resort
This was our second visit to Dreams Onyx, and we were not disappointed. Our room was very clean with a selection of pillows on the beds, and sufficient towels and toiletries. The mini bar was well stocked with water and soft drinks, though we were unable to get Diet Coke, Coke Zero being available instead. The room was thoroughly cleaned daily, with additional towel and turn down service in the evenings. Public washrooms were thoroughly cleaned every hour or so.
All staff wore masks in all are[... read more]as. Staff were attentive and eager to please. Hand sanitizer was available everywhere, and masks were offered prior to entering the buffet. Guests only wore masks in the buffet. In the bathrooms, every second sink was closed. Then, on May first, all mask mandates were lifted in the DR so staff no longer wore them anywhere.
The food in the a la carte restaurants was excellent, with generous portions. We were never required to line up or wait. The bar by the restaurants was often busy though, so short line-ups formed there. The food in the buffet was plentiful, though a little repetitive. It was often not warm enough. There were plenty of serving spoons, which were replaced often.
The pool area was clean, with chairs always available, and socially distanced at the beginning of each day. The beach was clean, with a tractor raking away any seaweed daily. Chairs were readily available, though we continued to reserve ours early in the morning with a towel and a book. We always removed our towels when we left the beach but not everyone did. This was unfortunate because chairs appeared occupied when in fact they weren’t. This was inconsiderate of the guests, not an issue with the resort.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It was our first trip post pandemic and everything went smoothly.

Dreams Dominicus La Romana: Dreams Dominicus
We enjoyed our 1 week stay at Dreams Dominicus. Our arrival very disappointing and discouraging. We had booked a king swim up suite and it was communicated that we were celebrating our 30th anniversary while here. My husband communicated with the resort and told everything was looked after. Upon arrival, security at the gate congratulated us. Unfortunately, guest services, in the Preferred check in Section seemed oblivious and uncaring towards this. They didn’t have a room for us and we[... read more] were told to return after having a meal. Many other guests appeared to have the same issue. We went to eat and came back to find the Checkin space filled with some new upset individuals as well as others returning like us. We were finally placed in a room that clearly was not really intended to be ours. It wasn’t decorated to acknowledge our special occasion and we found a welcome letter to some unknown to us individual. We shared thus and still staff had no regard. Not at all a nice way to start a vacation.
After this though, the rest of our experience was positive.
Building 50 was a great location for us, close to lobby and fresh coffee and tea every morning. Joanna took good care of us each and every morning. If she was not serving, she ensured the coffee was made right. May not be ideal for all but we liked it for it’s privacy and quietness. A la carte service was hit and miss depending on the restaurant. Family section was never busy and service was always exceptional. Great friendly service always. Seaside restaurant was our favorite with the soups, nachos and the meat plater. The coffee bar was always a nice evening stop. Good snacks and coffee. She had my chi latte figured out after a couple attempts. She was always friendly and willing to help and learn. Beach restaurant was okay but the services was poor.
Denis on the grill and Genesis at the bar took good care of us in the preferred section to the left. Always lots of chairs and shade to be found.
Only went in the main pool once. Enjoyed the paint night and the sailing lesson from Izero. Danny our butler did a great job organizing our anniversary extras that he had for us in the room. The spa was a nice treat at the end of our vacation. We did spend a lot of evening in our swim up pool. The walk to town was easy and many shops to be found along the way. It is much quicker to go by beach. Safety was never a concern. Dominicus shopping plaza is just getting started. Cheap booze and coffee to take home.
We did have a cheese and meet player one evening in the room. Not sure who had set the up but a thanks goes out to you.
We could easily have done two weeks. The buffet was always good, a lot of repeats but you never go hungry.

Dreams Jade Resort and Spa: Excellent Resort
stayed 7 days at Dreams Jade and had a wonderful time. Originally booked a tropical view but were able to upgrade to an oceanfront preferred suite upon check-in (additional cost) which we felt was well worth it as we had a beautiful ocean front room on 3rd level building #9 right on the beach. Able to sit out on balcony and watch the beach and watercraft activity. Preferred room also provided separate living room which gave us more privacy as my husband and i were travelling with our 19 year old[... read more] daughter who liked to sleep in. Preferred status also allowed us to have continental breakfast and lunch wraps etc in exclusive area which we appreciated rather than going to main buffet for breakfast and lunch.
Grounds were beautiful and well maintained, pools were pristine, food was very good and service excellent. Unfortunately large amounts of seaweed in water- so really couldn't swim in ocean or walk along beach comfortably. Staff were constantly cleaning seaweed from beach but hard for them to keep up as it kept rolling in. Staff very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. Room very clean and comfortable. Poolside entertainment was great, nightly entertainment was just okay. Room service app didn't work for us and no one answered the room service phone so we weren't able to take advantage of that. Chose not to participate in the Vacation Club presentation as we did not want to be harassed. Weather beautiful, ventured off on free shopping excursion to Playa Del Carmen (great) and took $10 cab ride to Puerto Morelos which we enjoyed. Felt very safe at all times.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Great vacation!
Two weeks spent at this resort. The staff, grounds, and swim-up room were the highlights. Food, drinks, and coffee were okay. A la carte restaurants require lining up (no reservations), so get there before 6pm. It was very busy with guests during our time and at least one wedding a day. Ocean is wavy and challenging with young children, and the sand is very soft. A lot of seaweed some days. Resort is large with many pools for everyone, including the water park area. Chairs with umbrellas by the [... read more]pool and beach are taken up early even though the resort asks guests not to reserve with their belongings. Staff tried to encourage mask wearing in closed areas, but guests often did not comply and some would take a mask from staff and remove it. Some guests complained about mask wearing in closed areas and challenged staff. Staff worked hard to keep areas clean but it was very busy. The Punta Cana airport was fast paced and security were pushy if moving too slow to keep people moving. Inconsistent with wearing masks at the airport - signs say to wear but seems not enforced as many did not wear.

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Great resort but could use a little updating.
I visited this resort back in 2011when it was a Now resort. It was in pristine condition and everything was great. Revisiting 11 years later, while the staff is still fantastic, there is some general repair that doesn't seem to have been done and so the pricing is a little high. While still a great resort with lots of dining options, attentive servers and bar staff, perhaps not to the same standard it used to be. Minor things, our safe had to be repaired 5 times, robes and slippers had to be[... read more] asked for, cleaning was done so late in the day we just declined it on our last day. Great things is that you could always get chairs and shade on the beach and we were able to get chairs and shade at the pool and adult pool no problem. We would drop a towel on chairs on to the way to breakfast and then go after, so bums in chairs by 930am. However if you slept in your only option was the beach.
I would probably not come during seaweed season again as I love to frolic in the ocean, and while you still could it just wasn't as nice. Also, I saw comments about huge line ups for dining and the longest we waited was for dinner one night for maybe 15 minutes, but we sat and had a drink. Otherwise a great trip, a lovely resort, maybe priced a little too high.

JW Marriott Costa Elena Resort and Spa: Beautiful Resort, friendly staff, good food, well appointed
Overall, the experience was great and we would absolutely return.
The bus ride in from the airport is a little longer than expected, but worth it. This is an important thing to note if your flight is long or have little ones.
In comparison to other resorts at a similar price point and area, this one is far superior for landscaping and shade for those with families.
The beds are doubles, not queens but are very comfortable to sleep in aside from being small.
Food was good, restaurants[... read more] had plenty of options and for the most part, the cooking and wait staff were excellent.
Bar service was lacking marginally at some bars. Additional (knowledgeable) bar staff needed at the lower pool and beach bars. This could be in part due to the addition of new staff, or covid etc.
The wait staff at upper pool was excellent
Kids loved the soft serve ice cream option daily at the bar.
Something to note to bring water from your room if you are heading to the pool early. The bars do not open until 10am, this includes non-alcoholic beverages. The only bar open early is the preferred lounge.
Pool area was always clean and tended to.
Loungers are plentiful and lots of areas for sun and or shade available.
Recommend getting there early to save a spot for larger groups if needed shade or by entertainment area at lower pool
The Coco Cafe had excellent service, coffees were wonderful and the options for ice cream daily were a nice treat for the kids (and adults)
Maid service, room service, bellstaff were all excellent
The views are amazing
The Capuchins are so great to see up close
(Great view of them from the 3rd building) but the experience of having them on your balcony from building 7 & 8 (I think) would have been unbelievable. Will be requesting a room on that side next time
Although reservations are not needed for restaurants, get there early if you have children. We had a few very late meals because we were delayed (even though we got there early at the restaurant opening time)
There were a lot of new staff members, which made for more of a language barrier than anticipated, but for the most part the staff was so friendly and accomodating (maid, waitstaff, bell, maintenance etc)
There were lots of towels always available at the pools
Pool towels are clean, wrapped neatly, and very large.
Check in was simple and the staff was polite.
Helpful Things that were not brought up but helpful if you are heading here:
Bring your phone to meals to open up QR code for menus. Wifi is decent through the entire resort.
There is a qr code in the room for the room service menu
The QR code in the elevators brings you to a menu showing what the entertainment is for the day
The hibachi meal requires a ticket, but the restaurant does not. Tickets are obtained at the concierge by the check in.
The sunset kayak is only a few days a week, so book it when you arrive.. things like that
The giftshops have a variety of anything you may need, but everything is quite expensive there for the most part. There are not options close to the resort (within walking distance) offsite to get them easily.
A 30 min ride or so to the nearest town is a less expensive option for liquor, shopping.
The waterside is excellent.
Overall, a great place to visit. We would recommend and return.

Dreams Huatulco: Amazing resort!
The hotel was lovely. Super clean and very adherent to Covid-19 protocols. The beach was very nice. The pools were fantastic as they had 3 infinity edge pools that face the ocean which makes for amazing views. The food was very good, many things made to order. Now to talk about the staff! They were incredible! I can’t say enough great things about the staff! They worked so hard to make our holiday amazing. Our air conditioner went one night, they had it fixed in an hour. The poolside[... read more] staff worked so hard moving chairs and umbrellas for people to give everyone a spot. The man that was in charge around the pool did a great job of actually removing towels that were just left on chairs. This is the nicest resort we have stayed in yet, probably our 14th all inclusive and this was the best! The town around hotel is really nice and worth a visit to their few restaurants and shops.

Dreams Onyx Resort and Spa: Beautiful resort!
This resort is beautiful, the grounds were well kept, they were always cleaning, grooming the grounds. We stayed in the family section over looking the pool with the water slides. Rooms were fabulous, clean, fairly new so not worn out like some others we’ve been to. We missed out on preferred club but we had the premium junior suite pool view and loved all the amenities, the turn down service. There’s a few pools, we stuck to the family one and pretty much sat at the swim up bar the whole t[... read more]ime! Juan our bartender was serving the drinks all day and was the best! Be sure to tip him, full uniforms with masks on in the hot sun and was always happy and singing. Restaurants are a la carte and no reservations required except for one, the Asian restaurant. The buffet was just ok, wasn’t much variety, if you want bacon go early as it only comes out once! If you have littles with you I found there wasn’t a lot for them, no fries or chicken fingers etc. although the fresh fruit was local and amazing. The staff was extremely friendly, only con would be very few knew any English at all so made it a little hard to communicate. All wore masks as well.
The entertainment was ok, dance party in the early evening then some type of music show at 9:30. There was a Madonna tribute which was actually quite good.
The gift shops, ice cream parlour, hamburger shop and cafe all require masks as they are quite small. They also all ensure you sanitize once you enter.
The beach was beautiful, soft sand no rocks. There are some vendors but there’s also security who make sure they don’t hassle you too much which I loved.
We were very impressed, the pics on the site are exactly what you will see and get. It’s not overly large so your walk to the main building wasn’t a pain. It was an all around amazing vacation. We would definitely stay there again!
