Excellence Riviera Cancun: Amazing resort!

I have been to many all inclusive resorts and this one was the best I have been to so far. It was a perfect size to get around, the food was amazing, I loved not having a limit on resteraunts and not having to make reservations in advance. The rooms were beautiful and the service was top notch.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Incredible

My wife & I spent our honeymoon at Excellence Riviera Cancun & it did not disappoint! It was truly incredible, from the service, to the restaurant & layout of the resort. We have been down south the past three years always staying at nice resorts of at least 4 stars and above. The Excellence Riviera Cancun is indeed a true 5 star resort for great value. With 10 restaurants the resort boasts a variety of food choice from Indian, Japanese, Mexican and even has a Tapas restaurant. The place never f [... read more]elt crowded and if you wanted to get away to a secluded area, they weren't hard to find. The service was fantastic, with each staff member tending to your needs. My wife and I found that there was always someone cleaning around the resort, the place was extremely clean. To summarize...just go here.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Great resort

We had a wonderful vacation at the resort. Awesome food, great pools, spa and surrounding areas. Only issue was the beach chairs being very uncomfortable, but wouldn't make or break the deal!! They really need to stretch the fabric again as you can see the plastic bars under the fabric. Other than that, GREAT vacation. Can't wait to go back. French had the BEST food, then Spice , Then Italian. didn't do the Tapenyaki grill at spice though so can't comment.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Amazing vacation!

This place is the epitome of luxury! The service was unbelievable, staff was so friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and beautiful, the food was all Delicious and the pools and the grounds were all very well maintained! Nothing negative to say at all!

Food is wonderful,my wife as allergies all the waiters made sure to tell the chiefs. She ate with no worries,very clean room,grounds are beautiful, every one is very polite, the beach is very clean, we have lots of privacy, everything else was great

The resort and the staff are great. We had a few minor issues at the beginning of our stay but the staff truly went out of their way to ensure we had a great stay. I look forward to returning next year and would recommend this resort to to anyone interested.

From check in to check out this place is amazing. The service the cleanliness the food the rooms the shows. Everything at EPM is 100% excellent . Have been to this resort 5 times now and will be back again and again . BIG shout out to Gerrardo at spice. Best waiter in the world !!

Excellence Playa Mujeres: The best service . . . . . but not the best beach

We stayed Jan 10 – 17, this was our first time at an Excellence resort, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. As others have mentioned, it really is the staff that makes the difference. We both have special food needs – food restrictions/eating often for medical reasons and serious allergies. From when we arrived we couldn’t have asked for more. Special foods were made for us, extra care taken with preparation, and staff even checked in after we’d ordered food (before they would serve us [... read more]) to make sure that it would be okay – just in case. And on our anniversary we got to enjoy the special dinner – very romantic with candles, rose petals, and excellent service, as usual. We loved the no-reservations, no-limitations policy on the restaurants, and only found we had to wait one night (gave us a chance to go back to the bar). The food was excellent – our favorites were the French and Mediterranean, which we went to twice. For us portion sizes were just right - especially the deserts – as I could indulge without guilt! Breakfast most days was the buffet, and we both enjoyed the wide variety of food on offer. Room service was great – we ordered from it every day (at least once per day), normally late at night. We were always told how soon it would arrive (30 minutes was the longest), and it was always on time, or a bit early, and everything was delicious. Yes, the selection is somewhat limited, but between room service and things already in the room (drink, snacks), there was no way we’d be going hungry. We did change rooms – which was very quick and straightforward. We started off in building 7 – right by the theatre, so it was noisy late at night. We were moved to building 3 – the farthest away from the theatre, which was maybe a five minute walk. Or, on some nights at the bar, a 15 minute stagger . . . . We did a couple activities – a day trip to Isla Mujeres, snorkeling, and playing the drums – but that was it – the rest of the time we just relaxed. Overall we had a great time – the beach was the only thing that wasn’t as good as we’d hoped for - lots of seaweed, red flag every day but one. We know that isn’t something the hotel can control, and they did a pretty good job of clearing the seaweed, but we’re definitely beach people, so it was somewhat disappointing. It would be perfect if we could take this hotel/staff and move it to a better beach. But then we’d never leave . . . . :o)

Excellence Punta Cana: 3rd Time back.

Everything was wonderful - service exceptional. Our third time returning to this resort and we have normally never gone to the same place twice. Beach did have seaweed this time of year but they were out every day clearing it. Never an issue with finding a chair by pool or by beach.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Excellence Riviera Cancun - our favourite resort

The facilities are superior, the food excellent with one minor exception. The staff pleasant throughout our time at the hotel. We really enjoyed our one week stay and will return sometime in the future.

Excellence Punta Cana: Excellent Service

The service at this resort was some of the best we have ever had.The entertainment staff was terrific.The beach was not the best, but the pool area was great. The room was clean and anytime you needed something it was there within a short period of time.

Unbelievable resort and location. The service was beyond excellent and the staff were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. Best vacation we have ever had. We are already going to book to go back next year. We are going to bring a few of our friends along too.

Excellence Punta Cana: The most beautiful resort we have ever been to.

This hotel was amazing, service is exceptional, grounds beautiful and the staff went over and beyond to make our vacation the best ever! We would thank Luis at the main bar, the staff at the beach cabana rental, as well as several others. From arriving to departing our trip was easy and everything flowed so well. We loved that you did not need to make any reservations for any of the restaurants so no rushing from the beach to get ready for dinner.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Great resort, not so great service

The resort itself was amazing. We absolutely loved the swim-up room. The food for the most part was very good. The NYE dinner wasn't great, but can be expected when they were serving probably close to 1000 meals. We didn't get to try all of the restaurants as they had a beach buffet one night, the NYE dinner, and we also had dinner on the beach as part of the honeymoon package. The facilities were top notch and the service impeccable. My wife says that it was the best massage that she has ever had, and the therapist even put a fancy braid in her hair during the scalp portion. Being able to do all of the hydro therapy and the massage together as a couple was a really nice experience. Where the resort fell short was in the service. With a few exceptions (our pool waitress, the Asian restaurant, the spa, and our beach dinner servers were fantastic), the service left a lot to be desired. It appeared at times as if they were understaffed. The staff that they did have on often seemed unhappy, or didn't care very much about the guest experience. You would often see staff socializing with each other, while ignoring guests. There was little consistency with things like the minibar being restocked as some days is was restocked early morning, other days very late in the day, and one day extremely late after we asked three times to have it done. With the exception of our last day, the maid service was not what I'm used to. Some days it only consisted of them making the bed and replacing towels. Our bathtub was dirty for 2 full days at one point, and they often left without sweeping up sand off the floor. If the service was on par with other resorts that I've visited, then we would definitely go back, probably multiple times. But I don't see myself spending that much money again for that kind of service. It really is too bad, as we absolutely loved the resort. I would rate the physical resort 5+ stars, but the service 2.5 - 3 stars.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Amazing Honeymoon vacation!

My husband and I stayed here for our Honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing!! Food is great, restaurants are amazing, staff is unbelievable and rooms are clean! Best vacation we have had yet! Great!!

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Amazing resort

I absolutely loved the Excellence Playa Mujeres! I have been to many all-inclusive resorts, and I have never met such friendly and happy staff. They go out of their way to make your stay perfect. The resort is gorgeous and very well maintained. Loved the rooms! The food was some of the best I've ever had at an all-inclusive resort. We ate breakfast and lunch every day at Toscana, and the menu always changed. Dinner we did at the a-la-carte restaurants and we were never disappointed. Excellence Playa Mujeres: Most Excellent vacation - would go back anytime.

We stayed at this resort over new years 2014/2015 for 7 days. Pros: lots of staff to take care of your needs, both food, amenities etc. Options for breakfast and lunch that aren't buffet. We really liked the French and Mexican restaurant for the best dinners and a la carte menus. The Indian restaurant was fairly decent if you don't get that type of food in your local area. We get spoiled in Toronto with great Indian restaurant choices but by no means was it bad. We stayed in building #7 which w [... read more]as the right distance from the main activities and the pools/beach. In the evenings if you went to bed a little early the noise was no issue from the theatre or the patio bar. Felt very secure and protected for my personal safety. Of course in any location watch your belongings and be aware. The beaches were well kept and virtually always could get a place to relax. It was windy during the days we were there but we were still able to go into the water to cool off. We rented a catamaran one afternoon with another couple and headed to Isle Majueres, which included some snorkeling time and walking around the town on the island. It was a chance to get away from the resort without being on a crowded boat. ( yes crowds on the island) The location is roughly 30 minutes from the Cancun airport, and roughly 20 minutes from the Cancun strip if that's your thing. Cons - minor things Food - Sometimes the staff at the grill for breakfast as more than a little slow. I know I'm on vacation but "today" would be nice to get my order. I would have liked to have seen more fresh fruit offered outside the buffet in Tuscana I personally didn't like the Italian/Mediterranean restaurant called Barcelona, we ate their once and our group wasn't impressed by it's menu. Towel Collection - the staff is regimented about collecting towels off loungers even if you just put them out sometimes. It can be annoying being that over zealous. Guest Tipping - I did find that this time around more and more guests were tipping the staff during the week, people can do as they please but it does create a bit of expectation from some of the staff members. Yes we did tip at some of the special events but not for every time a drink was made. This wasn't the case when we stayed at the Excellence River Maya. Overall - both myself and my wife would go back to this resort anytime we had the money to do so. I rated it 4 stars on value because who wouldn't like something cheaper right. :)

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Another great stay at an Excellence Hotel

This was our second time staying at an Excellence Hotel, our first was at the Excellence Mayan Riviera. Both stays were great. the Excellence Mujeres is newer but the rooms are slightly smaller. The grounds at the hotel were immaculate and beautifully maintained. We stayed in building seven which is basically in the middle so everything was quite close. The beach area is lovely with plenty of beach chairs and huts along with a small bbq area for lunch and on beach bar service. We were there duri [... read more]ng the holiday season and the resort was at 96% capacity but it never felt overcrowded and we always found a place by the pool or on the beach and no you don't have to go down at 7:00 am to put a book on a chair to reserve your spot. We would eat breakfast, walk along the beach then find a good spot in the sun or shade and spend the day as we pleased. As an all inclusive cocktails and drinks are an important part of the stay so my advice is to request what brand of alcohol you would like in your drink. If you want premium they have it, you just need to request it. We did notice that there was a definite lack of fresh fruit in the drinks. A few years ago when you ordered a "Banana Monkey" they actually put a real banana in the drink, now it's a pre mix which is disappointing. So we stuck to mojitos with a premium 12 year rum and they were delicious. I do think the resort could work a bit on the cocktails as drinks were inconsistent from one bar to the next. We enjoyed the food at the Mexican restaurant which makes sense since you're in Mexico. The French restaurant was also very good as was Spice. Lunch at the Grill was okay but nothing too special. We liked that you could order chips, pico de gallo and guacamole at any time throughout the day to wherever you were sitting- poolside or on the beach. We did see a lot of tipping going on and this most certainly did affect the service you received as you would expect. But service levels were pretty good even without tipping. Canadians get a bad rep for not tipping as much as Americans however what most fail to remember is that the Canadians are paying more for the same vacation as their American counterparts. And as a final tip- Don't forget anything at the pool or beach which is an easy thing to do after a few drinks. The concept of lost and found is not something they grasp. It's more like lost and gone which we learned the hard way two days in a row. Crews clean up and either keep it or throw it out. And I can't help but comment on the review from the English couple about how this hotel is not 5 star. It's Mexican All inclusive 5 star not Thailand or Fiji 5 Star. But I do agree the amenities were lacking so bring your own soap, shampoo, conditioner creams etc.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Beautiful Break

The resort could accommodate people with mobility issues. If you choose to take a family or friend who has difficulty with stairs or requires a wheel chair, this is a resort for you. Almost all venues, accept the beech are wheel chair friendly. You cannot make sand stable enough for a wheel chair, but the pools, hot tubs, and all but one restaurant had easy entry access. After that, we would go to breakfast and upon our return our room was cleaned, towels changed, etc. The hotel was laid out very well making finding locations, restaurants, activity areas, etc. easy to find. We participated in air rifle shooting and archery although there were many other activities running all day and into the evening. There is a small gym; it had about eight cardio machines and a variety of dumbbells, plus major muscle group machines. I would like them to add a machine capable of allowing pull -ups and chin- ups. Every evening musicians and bands would come to entertain us.These activities occurred in the early evening and later on into the night. All shows were tasteful and entertaining. I was especially impressed with the early shows, starting around 6:30 pm, as we like to go to bed early. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had a problem with a broken item in our room, I called the office, a repairman arrived within 15 minutes, completed the repair quickly and departed. We received a call almost immediately to enquire if the repair was completed to our satisfaction, which it was. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach, but that is the weather not the resorts fault. There were almost always enough beech towels and usually good seating, whether by the pool or at the beach. My family and I, particularly enjoyed long walks on the silky, sandy beach. We had a wonderful holiday and would seriously consider this resort again.

Excellence Riviera Cancun: Awesome resort

The grounds,buildings,beaches,pools and everything else was amazing.The service was second to none and all the people were very friendly.We also loved the 24hr room service.The way they up keep the hotel you would think it was new,I would be scared to try some where else now in fear of big disappointments.
