Amazing staff

A true Mexican atmosphere, architecture, landscaping and bright variety of Mexican color. We wanted a Mexican theme, we got it, we love it, we admire it. Its the staff that really make the difference they were wonderful and very helpful. I got stomach sick when I checked in from my food at Air Transat. But the night shift manager Adrean Aduelar gave me all the support and care at all times, till we checked out. Thank you Adrean. Excellent

I would go back in a minute....all was great. Staff, food, and accommodations where fabulous .we had a party of 4 people who all had a great time. I would recomemd this place to anyone...5 plus ratimg

Always great!

The Royal Decameron is one of the cleanest resorts with the best staff I've stayed at! The food is good, the rooms are comfortable and the adult pool is great! They allow you to use floaters in the pool which is a nice bonus. It also has a very nice beach which goes for miles in both directions...great for walking.

Wow,what can i say!!!!!!

This is our second trip to the Royal Decameron Complex and it was better than the first,the first time was great but this time was even better.We asked for the building 5,pool view,and a king size bed and got them all.The staff is the best and they do anything to help the guest.This resort is the place to go,the true way to enjoy Mexico.

Fantastic location!

We loved that this hotel was right in Bucerias and that we could walk to the markets and mingle with the locals! First time out of the country for my boyfriend and he loved the entire experience! The beach was also amazing - much nicer on the Pacific side!

Great Resort

Here are my Pro's / Con's and some TIP's!!!! 1) Great location - 20 minute walk to downtown Bucerias( best markets in PV, town square). Great little sports bars across the street. Short 20 minute ride from the airport. 2) Best manicured grounds I've ever seen in any resort. 3) The resort staff are the best and absolutely great service.(Francisco - late night waiter at the beach restaurant was amazing!!!) 4) Food - 5 restaurants and all had a great variety, they have two next to the beach and th [... read more]ey were never busy( large grounds and lots of space for everyone!) 5) Beach - Excellent beach, always chairs available!! You don't have to get down early and save a spot!! 6) Bars - The 2 beach bars were literally on the beach, average busy and great music. Great place to chill and watch the sun set or people watch.Drinks were really good and the staff always friendly! 7) They have so many pools - some quiet and some lively!! 8) Excellent value, get more than what you pay for!! Cons 1) The rooms are a bit dated and there is no fridge ( However your there to be outside) and no bath tub ( Not an issue for me but apparently an issue for the females???) 2) You have to pay close to $3 US per day for the safe, I struggle with this!! 3) Very big resort - some of the rooms(across the street) would be a 10 minute walk to the beach. However they all seem to be on a pool which is nice. 4) The main pool has Spanish music playing the majority of the time, after experiencing this for one or two days it's o.k the whole trip and it's consuming. 5) The shows are a hit and miss (the entertainment staff work exceptionally hard), however this is a personal preference of what you like. Tips 1) Do all your shopping in the town of Bucerias!! As in PV or in the hotel there is no negotiating with much higher prices! Wait until mid afternoon and evening as this is when your best likely to get your deals. Also your significant other can go to "Fat Boys" beach bar while you shop at the markets!! Very very safe place the market and town itself, lots of tourists!! Also it's the real Mexico!!! 2) Excursions - the price in the hotel is $39US more than off the resort, you can buy the same excursions across the street or at the market in Bucerias there is a great shop! Also the excursions sold from the hotel only go out on certain days!! Shop around!! 3) Fishing - Go down to the beach in front of the hotel and ask any vendor/peddler for Oscar( fishing guy). Get him to throw in the 24 cold ones and some sandwhiches for the fishing trip. He's open to negotiate and the fishing charter was one of the best I've gone on including the price. If your going fishing, bring a medium collapsable cooler to bring your fish back to the hotel which they will cook up for you that evening!!!! The marina is at Paradise Village, close by and only $10 US by taxi!! 4) There is a small conveince store on the street which takes you to downtown Bucerias about 3 to 4 blocks on the right hand side maybe which has a little restaurant in it. You can have real good taco's (cheap, 13 Pesos) and you buy your cold ones in the store and sit out front ( Cold one tip, you can buy 2 x 1.2 liter bottles of Corona or Tecate for 45 pesos!! Yes that's correct 45 pesos!! Great place to buy your candy store items if you need some, closer than OXO (which some will send you too, up the hill at the Hwy!!) Also there is a store across from the hotel and down the street a half a block ( towards down town) which sells all kinds of great beach blow up toys, cheap!! 5) Sports bar across the street on second floor was really good, they also show pretty much all of the ball, hockey and soccer games in the lobby bar!! 6) Massage - Go down the beach towards town and on the right hand side after walking 10 minutes and there are 2 places (Cheap, $25 to $30 US for 55 minutes for 2 people!!) same massage people work in the hotels and they work there on their off days!!

Definately not a 4 star as advertised

grounds are well kept, adult pool and building is too far from the water, only 1 of the a la carte restaurants is really at an a la carte level,reservations had to be booked early in the morning and you had to line up for close an hour to do this-a real spoiler for a holiday, beds were hard and the complex is loud gererally most of the day and evening with a pa system or outdoor show, blasting, no kleenex provided in the rooms, use of a safe had a daily charge,rooms were not nicely appointed and [... read more] the drapes were covered in mildew. very dissappointing and frustrating vacation. distance and time by bus was not advertised accurately, it took the good part of an hour to get to Puerto Vallarta and that involved a bus transfer,this complex is not being advertised accurately and is not well located, it costs $50 to get a taxi to Puerto Vallarta and back. pictures of this resort are misleading on the internet search,would definately not stay here again or recommend it to anyone

Fabulous

This was a really beautiful resort. The low-rise buildings are painted in bright colours and the gardens and grounds are kept so clean and tidy. The quality of food was really great. There was a good variety every day, and our 8-year old loved being able to help herself. The rooms are rustic, with whitewashed plaster walls and wooden furniture, with seriously comfortable firm beds and good quality linens. We all slept well. The DeCameron is the best place to stay at!!!

The Decameron is like my home away from home. The staff are so very friendly, that includes everyone, the cleaning staff, the grounds staff, the administration staff, the entertainment staff, but mostly the manager Ricardo and the reservation manager Julio.

Beautiful and Charming Resort! :)

The resort is nicely spread out, which is a actually a nice feature, as it allows you to explore and get in some exercise! ;) Our room was in building 5 on the top floor. Yes, a few steps up and down, and definitely appreciated! There is no elevator! Staff is always there to carry luggage up and down, just call the front desk! Upon arrival your bags are tagged with your room number and the bags are delivered promptly with a smile! Building 5 in itself was very quiet, since it 'houses' the adult/ [... read more]quiet pool. The only noise was between 9->10:30pm when the show was on at the outdoor theatre next door, no big deal. The shows were really, really well done and keep kids and adults engaged and entertained. Since my son (12) was not allowed to 'use' the pool at building 5, we just went to building 6 (2 mins) or frequented the other pools near building 1 and 4; it was a bit of a walk, yet we did not mind. Or we went to the beach, which was 7 mins away and my son enjoyed the snorkelling there! The pools in general are open either until 6pm or 7pm. And then the 'area' undergoes a vigorous cleaning!! The resort is immaculately well kept, everyone does such a fantastic job!!! I noticed that this resort is well frequented by more senior people/retirees, mostly Canadians. There were a few kids, younger than my son, so the activities offered were more geared towards smaller children. It was nice to see that the resort is also visited by quite a few Mexican families, it was a good mix for sure! The animation team is hard at work to offer yoga ( great! ), Spanish lessons, dance lessons, games, etc. A Mexican wedding took place at the beach the evening arrived, that was neat to watch. More or less every night they set up a mini open air market near building 1/2 and you can browse, buy jewellery, bargain and have fun! The food was AMAZING, the variety just blew me away. I work in the hospitality/aviation industry and I have to say the chefs are doing a fantastic job! Our building had a restaurant that had buffet style bfast and lunch; and in the evening it turned into a Thai and Japanese restaurant, one needed reservations. There were two buffet style restaurants that offered dinner a short walk from our building. Every night they had a different theme. So, so much food was on display; it was overwhelming at times, esp. the dessert selection for the Mexican feature night... I can see how one can easily gain weight...lots of weight...plus the free drinks...some people got a bit 'carried away'.. oh well...;) The staff in the restaurants was very, very nice and tried their best to remember one's name...a very friendly and thoughtful gesture indeed! The resort was VERY well kept, so VERY clean; our room was cleaned later in the day, no issues with that. It is nice that Bucerias is only a short walk either on the beach or road; we made good use of that, went to the market, got ice cream and ventured out for dinner one evening. The area appeared very safe. People were not too pushy, or tried to sell you everything you so don't need! On Thursday we booked a sailboat trip to Yelapa with Pegaso Charters and that was certainly the highlight of our trip. We got to see dolphins, walked up to the waterfalls in Yelapa, enjoyed lunch on the beach and went snorkelling; the cost was US $ 80 each and SO worth it. The Air Transat reps at the resort were always very helpful; same applies to every resort staff member, lots of smiles and cheerful faces! I understand why the resort is especially sought after by more 'senior' folks and why they come back! It was a great way for us to get to know the area and be at this lovely resort. Oh, I wanted to mention the iguana tree, which is the home to 40+ iguanas; fascinating to see them up close and it was a treat to have that tree right next to our building, for us to watch them daily! Thank you for a wonderful and most memorable time!

Too bad

It is too bad that a beautiful destination vacation has to be ruined by sub-standard food! Generally most was overcooked, and quite criminal that crabs had been sacrificed for no reason, as they were inedible. The grounds were nice, the weather was perfect!

Basic, Clean, Nice

Resort is big but not huge. YOU can easily go from one point to another by foot. Grounds are nice, rooms are clean, food is OK. Rooms are basic (very basic)- like no fan in the bathroom, just open a window... Perfect resort if you are over 69 years young. drinks are good, music played at the bars is perfect. Entertainment- not that great. Embarrassing moments at times. You can avoid them, as they only stay at one of the pools. Over-all I give it a 6 out of 10. Location is not great either. Be pr [... read more]epared to pay 25USD every time you want to go somewhere (even in the paid trips- no transportation from this hotel). Do not go with children there. Not a family resort.

Great resort

The ground were okay. I have been there for the last 10 years, it was bright colours and now it is a dull beige. Looks like a hospital. Very clean, staff are fantastic, food was good. The only bad thing is that they let this guest come every year , he treats the staff bad, he yells at them, he has been known to push guests and threaten them. He is known as the decameron bully. If they continue to allow him to come won't be back. I believe everyone should be treated with respect and if management [... read more] can't do that, then it's time to move on. we are on vacation, we pay for this trip,and would like to enjoy it without stress from this person. The resort no,s who he is. I am really sad that I have to leave, enjoyed it for years.

Don't go for the rooms

The resort was very well maintained and the food was just above average. The staff were great and there was lots to do that was free. You do not get cushions for the pool loungers, your room is very very basic with no extras like a clock and you have to pay for the safe key and you do not get your money back. We had a good time and meet lots of nice couples that really enjoyed themselves there.

Amazing resort

highly recommend the royal decamaron, it is in a good location away from the business of puert Vallarta.Excellent service, food, and entertainment.You can walk both ways down the beach for miles and find really good restaurants on the beach.Whale watching and fishing were really good also.its a bigger resort but you have lots of variety for food and drink, will definitely return.

My second year at this resort

As always this resort has a happy, relaxed feel. The food is very good, the rooms very clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful with any requests. I will go again next year. Please sign on for extra events. So far we went whale watching and saw Rhythms of the Nights. Both wonderful.

Amazing resort, clean, manicured lawns, flowers.

After spending 14 days Jan 29, 2015, we love this popular resort for the value of our money, clean, building colours,food, drinks. This resort is so clean, pools, chairs, rooms, restaurants etc. it has two buffets so if you can't find something you like at one you can always go to the other. 5 a la carte restaurants. We notice a few changes this years, some foods were repeated to fill the blank space. Always can find something to eat. Spanish coffee, flame deserts, speciality lobster at a $20.00 extra fee, just saying yes madam......the only thing I found the night intertainment is to late, 9:00 pm is late enough and seems it's late starting. Lovely resort!

The resort was lovely, extremely clean with immaculately maintained grounds. When we arrived they were just finishing repainting the outside of the hotel blocks in vibrant Mexican colours. The hotel consists of 6 blocks of rooms with 3 buffet restaurants and 5 a la carte restaurants. We only went to 1 as the buffets were more than adequate. We had 2 double beds, double dresser and small closet, lots of room for 2 people, bathroom has only a shower but again - not a problem. The staff are what make this place special, with everyone very friendly and helpful. Many of the guests are repeats with some coming 10+ years or more and staying up to a month at a time. The beach is lovely with miles of sand in either direction, lots of beach chairs are available so there is never a shortage of a place to relax. Even the beach vendors are friendly and if you say no they quietly go away and leave you to you piece and quiet. Would recommend this place for a nice quiet holiday

Wonderful Resort

Right on the beach which is a must. Colorful colonial style architecture and beautiful grounds. All open air restaurants which I like. Lots of friendly staff and efficiently run. Ocean view rooms in building one were rather small but clean and beds were very comfortable. Enjoyed having the sliding doors open all night. There were no privacy walls between balconies but we had nice chats with our neighbors. The nightly dance revues were really good and the best I've seen in my all inclusive resort [... read more] travels. The hotel is larger than I like and there were lots of guests. One had to get to the beach really early to claim a spot. Beach and surf were great.

Great Resort

Everything was excellent the restaurant, waiters, very helpful when needed help, room service outstanding. Resort was very well kept clean and secured. I needed help for my Asthma problems, housekeeping helped more than expected. reception desk always tried their best to solve problems. Overall best Resort I have been for Holiday. I will recommend this resort anytime.
