Great stay! Jan 18-25

The hotel was fabulous. The rooms were very clean and actually up to date. Staff were fabulous... Good was great (Ya that's right). Beach was beautiful and there was decent snorkelling off the beach and around the Boardwalk. The tide did take a while to go out but worth the wait... Pool was ok but we didn't use it. Nelson in the Buffett was a gem! Lobby bar staff were also fabulous. No complaints with Hotel staff. We did find it strange that rooms that were not superiour (we had an ocean v [... read more]iew superior room which was amazing) needed to pay 2 CUC a day for a safe. Go, enjoy... Only if you want a quiet and relaxing vacay!

Needs some upgrades!!

Great staff, but resort needs to upgrade and pay attention to detail. Lights weren't on , on pathways at night and food was mediocre; some head chefs to monitor what is put out would help. Accommodations were good, but beach area was very narrow and crowded at high tide.

Good Resort

The grounds were very well kept; the people were very nice; the beach was good; the food at the buffet was average, not enough variety; and the food at the al a carte was not good at all! Two members of our group were ill.

Overall good vacation for the value

This resort beach front is truly amazing! The beach is absolutely beautiful with soft white sand and turquiose water and the tide goes out daily so you can walk out in the ocean quite a distance and you can go for very long walks on the beach! The food and the room are good not excellenet but you always can find something to eat we had no issues with getting sick and the rooms were clean and we stayed in a renovated room therefore the water pressure was excellent. We truly enjoyed our vacation and the value was excellent for the price of our vacation. I would say the this resort is a "true" 4 Star Resort and the service is excellent the staff go above and beyond to meet the high needs of the customer. Thank-you Iberostar Daiquiri staff for making our vacation very memorable we would definately come back to this resort and would recommend to others

Returning Guests

Our stay was enjoyable - the gardeners, waiters and waitress were great. It was frustrating at the bar with the bartenders since they expect you to tip them every time to get a drink... Like I can understand daily but they literally don't serve you if you don't have money in your hand. The rooms that were not renovated were pretty bad. The first room they gave us was not cleaned yet and the toilet hadn't been flushed- really gross. Pool was clean and the gardens were up kept nicely, however there were boards missing from the board walk leading the beach (serious leg breakers) and the beach was literally twice as small since the last time we visited. All in all it was a good trip but I do not think we would come back to this resort again.

Great trip!

This resort came recommended to me by two people. I really enjoyed my stay there. The staff were friendly, our rooms were clean and bug free. The food was good as well. The beach was beautiful. The resort is small which is nice so you aren't walking forever to get from one place to another.

Great spot

Beach was very nice, food was good, preferred the buffet to the restaurants. Pool area clean and well maintained. Rooms good, beds a bit uncomfortable. Staff vey nice. I would not recommend renting scooters at the resort. reserved 4, got 3 and one broke down halfway through the day.

AWSOME EXPERIENCE!

Lovely beach. Very good food quality and variety . Clean, well maintained Resort. Staff will go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Entertainment, professional shows, plenty of activities. Observation: More lawn chairs required, the only way to secure one, was to "drag" it with you from the beach to the pool and vice versa.

Very relaxing

friendly staff, beautiful beach, fantastic room cleaning, great shows at night, helpful staff willing to make your stay the best possible vacation ever. Bartenders and waiters/waitresses are very friendly and pleasant.

Good Resort

Example: What did you think about  this hotel? (grounds, public areas, rooms, dining, features, etc.)All was OK except dining which is an issue in Cuba re quality etc but which we were able to deal with.

Great Cuban resort.

Clean, friendly staff, decent food and a beautiful beach. We kiteboard and the resort was very accommodating to our needs including providing us with a hose to clean our gear at the end of our trip. We've been town other hotel on the same beach recently and the iberoatar was significantly nicer.

Quiet

First I will say I have read reviews about this hotel and wonder where these people stayed. My wife and I found this vacation very relaxing and pleasant. The room was clean and the maid service great. The grounds were well kept and the gardeners were very friendly. The pool was clean and chairs were easy to obtain. The beach was always being cleaned and the water clear. The food, well we were in Cuba, but surprised the food much better than other times we were in Cuba. The only down side is the  [... read more]smell of cat excrement and the presents of numerous cats at the main door of the buffet. .

Great Family Resort

This was our first time in Cayo Guillermo and we had a great time. This is small resort but it accomadates people of all ages. This is an older resort but its a good one. The entertainment people are excellent and always try to go over and beyond. The people were always so friendly. The only thing I would suggest is take a bottle to fill up with water, they only replenish the beverages in the minibar ever other day. Great Company, Average Hotel

We went to the Iberostar Daiquiri over New Years. We were with a large party therefore we were bound to have fun no matter what. When we arrived the rooms were not ready so we had to wait 3 hours. Once we got the keys to our rooms they were not cleaned, and resembled a hostel environment. This was not going to be suitable for a week. Therefore we decided to upgrade - we spent an additonal $200 Cubanas to upgrade to a renovated villa. The renovated room was fine - it was clean. However our sheets [... read more] and towels were not being changed on a daily basis, we would go days using the same bath towels. We also knew our sheets were not being changed because there was sand in the bed - constantly. The beach towels were another issue. The pool hut was always out of towels. We were only able to exchange our towels for fresh ones once in the entire week - and you can imagine how dirty and smelly a four day old beach towel is. The food was fine. I have always heard horror stories about Cuba and the quality of the food. We mainly stuck to the buffet. We tried the Mexican and Italian restaurant on the premise and they were awful. The buffet was descent it was fresh and a good variety. The staff was very nice - they were helpful and cheerful.

Fantastic

It was the most incredible trip ever returning in may.food was awesome ppl were amazing beach were the best I have ever been too. Room were so clean. Met so many incredible people will be back in may with my kids.

Average resort but horrible bugs

We went in Dec 16-23, 2014. The resort was average. Pool was just OK, room was out dated. Food was not very good. But staff were friendly. The ocean was green but blue. I got at least 40 bites, from mosquitos, sand mites, and maybe bed bugs. I saw some people in the resort have lots of bites, too. So I will not return because of this.

Great Resort

My husband, adult son and I have just returned from a weeks stay at the Iberostar Daiquiri from Dec. 21-28, 2014. The room we received was in the Baracoa unit and this was ideal as my son is an avid kite boarder. He had direct access to the path that lead to the beach area specifically for kite boarders. Definitely ask for this unit if you intend to kite board. The winds were pretty good so he was out on most days. This resort suited us just fine as it is smaller than Memories in Varadero. We we [... read more]re at Memories in December 2013. The room, beach, pool and eating were all within a comfortable walking distance. I also appreciated the little shops where you can buy some souvenirs to take back. The food was average and you had the choice of three restaurants; Cuban, Mexican and Italian. Reservations must be made ahead of time for these restaurants. There was a shortage of beach towels for 3 days so we didn't have any. We were also short of towels for one day in our hotel room. This was soon rectified however it is a reoccurring problem. Do take your own beach towel with you.Mosquitoes are quite fierce at night so do take insect repellent also. I used Deet 17% and the mosquitoes were still biting me so do take a higher per cent. The evening entertainment was limited although we did enjoy the first evening's performance of international dances. Water sports are included in the all inclusive price. We went paddle boating and on the Catamaran. Staff are all very polite and helpful. Dec. 22 was my birthday and a lovely bottle of sparkling wine was placed in our room. One area of contention was that the pool area was constantly blasting music from two loud speakers so there was really no peaceful place to go and just read a book or snooze. I would have appreciated a time when there was quiet or very gentle music playing. Blasting music does not mean that everyone enjoys it. I certainly didn't. My son will definitely go back as he loved the kite boarding. If I ever go back I will definitely take stronger insect repellent as this was the only part of the trip that made me uncomfortable. For the price I considered this a really good deal.

Amazing stay

We stayed in this hotel from dec19-26/2014 and have to say it exceeded our expectations, we visited Cuba in the past but this was whole another experience, good weather, good food (and lots of it), nice drinks and most of all beautiful and friendly staff everywhere we went. The rooms might use a little reno but they still function, however part of the resort just reopened the day before we left after renovations and it seem to look very nice and fresh. We would recommend this resort to anyone.

Excellent Resort, Good Food and Great Beach

So, this is Cuba and if you haven't visited Cuba before then you need to understand that you are visiting a country that has been under a US embargo for > 60 years. They don't have a lot of anything. There are quite a few rough edges around the resort if you compare it to a country like DR or MEX. However, Cuba has a vibe about it that is infectious. I *love* Cuba, not because they run out of towels every day by 2pm or because they occasionally run out of lemon juice for the mojitos but because [... read more] the is an energy and strength in the Cuban people that is inspiring. This hotel has one of the nicer beaches from the water line out. Its pretty narrow on the dry side, but on the water side its wonderful. The white sand is clean and warm and just about perfect. Its also 10 minutes from Playa Pilar (look it up if you aren't familiar). Food is good and wholesome. Rice, beans, pork and chicken for the most part with some nice Fish and sometimes Shrimp. The food isn't fancy, but it is filling, flavourful and there is lots of it. This hotel has the best "Show" of any of the dozens of resorts I've visited. I am not a big "show" guy and I often skip but those shows I did watch were impressive. My wife and daughter agreed that they were the best. The music in the lobby was great, awesome atmosphere all round. We've been to a few different places in Cuba and the Iberostar's were my favourite. I like Iberstar Varadero because you can head into town easily, but if you would like a beach filled vacation there is no doubt that this resort is an excellent choice.

Nice Resort

Excellent location, close to water, currently rooms under renovation. Service was good, friendly staff through out the resort. Windy conditions for the week I stayed which dumped a lot of sea weed on the beach, no big deal, better then snow.
