Not bad

Resort was nice! Rooms were nice! Only problem was check in. It was unorganized and took way too long. Also had to pay for wifi because the one in the lobby don't work. Food was good at the a la cartes. The staff are very friendly. Overall I would recommend the grand bahia principe coba. I've stayed at a lot of places and none was as good as this. And If you are bringing children this is a perfect resort it's clean and they were very friendly to my children.

Good not Great Resort

The room was nice, the pool was good and the drinks even better. But the overall service was not the best except for the cleaning lady for the room and some of the restaurant servers. I also had a bad experience with one of the internal transports as I was almost thrown off. The driver started pulling off before I got seated. Also my family felt that we were treated poorly in some areas because of the colour of our skin.

Great Food!!

My husband and I really enjoyed this resort. The staff were very friendly. We went to an a la cart restaurant and Jose from mashua welcomed us back another night for food tasting!! What an amazing experience! Great food and great people.

Very nice resort!

Best hotel that we have stayed at in Mexico. Very clean hotel and grounds, friendly staff, exceptional service. Close to all the cultural and adventure activities on the Yucatan Peninsula. Good value for money. Would return to this hotel for sure.

If you're looking to Party book Coba, if you're looking to relax book Tulum....

When we arrived to Coba we were greated by a dozen drunk people at the front desk (like falling down drunk). This was not how I wanted to spend my vacation and opted to be moved to Tulum. We had Golden Club, so we were able to make use of all the resorts on the complex. Our experience at Tulum was awesome. Close to the beach, service was great and lots of choices at the buffet. Yes, it had a musty smell...it happens with tons of humidity and everything stays damp. It didn't make or break our vacation. The Beach. For those who dream of white sandy beaches with no waves, rocks or seaweed..sorry, there are all three. Bring water shoes or walk up the beach past the resort (at your own risk) and you'll find calm, sandy waters. The beaches in the Hotel Zone are all the same, so don't make this a make or break for the Hotel. Just bring water shoes! As with most resorts the A La Cartes were OK. The Japanese restaurant was by far the best. I preferred eating at the buffet, I was able to make better and more healthy choices. However, I did eat my fair share of tortilla's with Gauc and Salsa....delish! I'm not a big drinker. But, the beer was cold and the margaritas were real....no fake lime slushy stuff. We had wine with supper, it was good. Oh! I almost forgot....At breaskfast, get a coffee with milk and ask for a shot of Bailey's and a glass of ice....mix it all together over the ice....voila! Great way to start the Day! Lastly, the resorts trolley system is very efficient...so don't worry about having to walk far. Hope this Helps.

My first visit to Mexico

It was truly a fantastic experience. It was my first time joining an all inclusive package and it was totally worth every penny of my money spent. Starting from the booking, I had to call Tripcentral.ca because I needed some special arrangement and I spoke to Susan Snider. She was friendly and helpful, although I understood she was extremely busy handling other inquiries due to the hurricane that affected other passengers right before my departure. Once my booking was confirmed, a few days be [... read more]fore my departure, I received an email with an electronic FAQ form that literally answer any sort of questions. I submitted a single question to test the service and immediately received a response regarding the transfer from the airport to the resort. This time I stayed at Grand Bahia Principe Coba. I realize that in Riviera Maya there are a handful of choices of luxurious resorts but this one that I chose I was told that they have the best entertainments and animations. The resort is huge and it is a network of 4 hotels located next to each other that are all connected by shuttles. Guests can use the combined facilities including a private beach and a golf course. I has also a plaza called "La Hacienda" which has a lot of little shops selling local artifacts and souvenirs. It also houses bars with live music, a casino and a disco within a miniature of a typical Mexican town. I don't really have to go out and can easily spend a week just staying in the resort. The staffs are professionally trained with very friendly attitude. Starting from gardeners to housekeepers and waitresses, all staffs will greet you with a big grin on the face saying "Ola, buenos dias!" A special remark on the entertainers. They are the real reason for this being the right resort to choose. You will see them starting early in the morning by the pool organizing activities all the way until the end of the day. You will find their presence as well in the evening shows, live music entertainment and even in the disco dancing with guests and to ensure the lively atmosphere until 2 AM in the morning. Finally, about the restaurants. People usually have the impression that we won't find any decent food in all inclusive resorts. I must say this is an exception from the standard. This resort has more than 10 restaurants with multiple choices from eastern to western cuisine. The buffet serves a great variety of food that bears a different theme every day and the "A la carte" restaurants are all of very high standard, except the Japanese restaurant. I will definitely repeat the experience whenever I can and highly recommend this hotel as well as choosing Tripcentral.ca to make your booking.

Incredible Food!!!

The hotel is rustic and traditional. We went in Sept and it was rainy season so our room was flooded but we got a different room - no upgrade for our troubles but a complimentary spa session. There's no Wifi in the rooms and it's $50 USD per week. The food experience was 10/10. With resort food I just don't expect too much but I was extremely impressed! The resort is child friendly and there's good activity and food options for them as well. Somewhat disappointed

This resort is beautiful, well kept, has fantastic entertainment, and the food is very good. The service in the A la cart restraunts is fantastic. The down side is that the resort is extremely large and understaffed. In the buffet, it was almost impossible to get a coffee, and in the evening during the entertainment the service was slow and the waiters were abrupt and less then friendly,.also, it was labeled all exclusive but the safe was an extra $5. US a day, and the alcohol was cut off at 11 [... read more] pm. And if you wanted more it was at an additional cost. Fantastic Family Fun!

Everything was great....the hotel, views, food, nightlife and the clean beach at Tulum had fish eating out of your hand. The staff was very friendly and the shuttles to the different areas around the hotels was a quick and easy ride. The beach has a fishing charter with knowledgable guides and know thier stuff, I caught a 25lb barracuda to prove it. Ill be back!

Ok resort

All was fine but when we came to 5 star resort we got room with AC not working, fridge not working, safety box not working - broken. We got another room and after two days we had a fload in the room from AC. Did I regret going there? No, as we so many nice things on our trip. Would I go again? Never.

Ok Vacation Place

Nice pools and decent food. However, common areas were understaffed and lacked air conditioning. Landscaping was great, but rooms were dated. Also, wouldn't recommend if you have small children. Resort is too large and you are very dependent on the trollies getting you from one place to the next. Trollies weren't frequent enough and very difficult to know which one you needed to take to get to a specific destination (should use different colours to differentiate).

Would not go back to a Bahia Principe resort!

Since this was a potentially last family vacation, I was very disappointed. We had problems everyday. 1. Air conditioner did not work - two days later, we were moved to a new room. 2. Since we had two rooms side by side, this took 3 days to move and we were without our belongings for 2 days 3. We did receive our luggage until 5:00 p.m. on the change day. 4. New room - my son's bedding had BLOOD on the sheets 5. Royal Golden service was not provided unless we reminded them 6. Our new r [... read more]oom had a lovely cockroach in it on the first night. 7. Highway traffic sound was very loud 8. The "a la carte" dinner reservation times were only 6:00 & 10:30 options because they said they were busy. 10:30 with a family is way too late. 9. Transat Rep, Karolina Koala was very rude. Just asked about the Transat baggage strike 10. Resort was way to crowded 11. Had to get up at 5:00 am to reserve a pool chair 12. Pools were crazy hot water 13. Hounded by the Bahia Principe sales people everyday! The only shining moment was the entertainment team at the Coba pool. Manuel was the best. I would don't return to a resort like this again and would avoid Transat.

Riviera Maya / Grand Bahia Principe Coba

Stayed at Grand Bahia Principe Coba for 7 days (all inclusive). There are 3 resorts connected together and you can use all the restaurants/facilities when you staying at any of them (Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba). Good food, friendly staff. The only thing some people may not like is that resort is big, you will need to take the golf cart shuttle to get around if your room is on the far end of the resort.

Great Getaway

Hotel rooms are very nice and spacious. Hotel grounds are well maintained. Staff is very friendly. Very nice resort! Hotel is not right on the beach but there frequent shuttles to the beach and multiple nice pools. Snack bar open 24/7. Wifi was hard to connect and very spotty. Italian a la carte was disappointing.

Wonderful stay

Very easy to get around coba and to get to sister resort tulum, just hop on a trolley and your there, food was good, drinks good, the room was nice, good a/c never a sweaty night. Would definitely return.

Check in nightmare

Upon arrival at front desk were told room wouldn't be ready until 3:00, so came back at that time only to be told it would be another hour. Each time we came back time to availability was extended. After four trips back and forth finally got room at 7pm. Than AC didn't initially seem to work. Cooled the room off later but in middle of night discovered puddle of water on floor. Was fixed next day. Despite bad start food was excellent. Pools and beach good. Kids loved the iguanas and Coat [... read more]is roaming the property. Entertainment wasn't worth sticking around for.

Fantastic and so clean

The resort was amazing, staff fantastic and everything outstanding. Truly a wonderful holiday packed with lots of laughter and fun. I would like to bring my children here to show them exactly how great a vacation it was.

We loved it!

My husband and I traveled to GBP Coba for 10 days. The resort was beautiful and kept very clean. We thought the food was amazing at the a la Cart restaurants but had to tip in order to get additional restaurants added to our stay (with 10 days you only get 4 restaurants). We tried all 9! The only one we were disappointed in was the Oasis, as everything was too salty. The Japanese, Mediterranean, Le Gourmet, and Brazilian were our favourites. If we wanted a quite night we would just lay around in the hammocks, which was very relaxing! They keep the beach very clean, there are workers constantly picking up seaweed. For the most part the sand is soft however certain parts of the beach have a number of rocks when you enter the water. We would walk over to the Akumal beach when we wanted to go into the water since there were very few rocks at that point. If you want to get tiki hut by the pool you will have to be up before 7am as people put towels on their chairs very early! There is less of a rush to get a spot by the beach since there are a greater number of tiki huts you should be able to find one available at any point during the day. We travelled in June and were worried about the mosquitos, but we didn't see any! The only bite we received was when we were on an excursion to the Jungle Maya. We felt that this resort is great for people of all ages, there is lots to do for families as well as groups of friends, or couples. We would love to come back!

Loved every moment!

My very good friend and I were upgraded to Sian Ka'an just moments after we arrived. Loved the beaches, infinity pool, food was great and staff were so friendly! We will be visiting again next year!!!

Best resort I've been to!

The grounds were beautiful ... Very well manicured. The food was delicious. Second to none service! So much to do! Great entertainment but it could be better advertised. Only suggestion: buffet could be a little cooler in diningroom. It was a little hot.
