First class resort

This hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful. The food was good and all public areas were well kept. There was ample pool area but could have used a few more chairs. This was my second time at this hotel and I would use it again.

Disappointed

All in all, the resort was beautiful. HOWEVER, room 23104, where we stayed was full of mosquitos. We complained 4 times. We were with a party of 7 people. The other two rooms had no mosquitos. The hotel "supposedly" sprayed the room for the mosquitos. We still got them. Finally the last night we were there, they offered to move us rooms. Like really? Last night? I recommend the resort, as long as you don't stay in room 23104. We booked the A la Carte in the Mikado(Japanese) restaurant to have th [... read more]e chef cook right in front of us. They screwed that up as well, and said we didn't book it. Very disappointed for the amount of money it cost us.

Safe, fun.

The grounds and hotel are very clean. Our room 22515 was very nice and well kept for our week away. Feb 28th March 5th. This hotel is very large, use your map it helps. Book your special dinners right away, they fill up. The pool bars need more choice of drinks. The beach is small. The lunch at the beach is wonderful. This is a very nice hotel, we had a very good week.

Lovely time!

My husband and I were at the Grand Bahia Príncipe last week and had a great time overall. First the good... Lovely resort, well manicured gardens, very friendly front desk and staff all around, large clean room on the 1st floor with all amenities like bath robes, slippers, iron, hairdryer and usual toiletries. Now, the not so good....beach area is small for such a large resort and from where we were, quite a long ways away,no long walks on the beach, Piscis the beach restaurant is quite far to walk to for lunch or a snack if you are lounging on the west side of the beach, no wash rooms inside the main buffet area. Wonder what parents of little kids would do in an emergency! Food, while plenty, not enough variety for vegetarians. A vegetarian omelet will be cooked on the same grill as one with the meats, so if you are a staunch vegetarian (thankfully I am not) then this would not work for you. Instructions to operate safes in the rooms were incorrect and outdated. Lack of proper signage, the elevators are the slowest in the world so good luck if you have a room on the upper levels! Wi-fi in the Lobby (only area) was very spotty and connection was quite tedious. I didn't really care because I was on holiday..but felt sorry for the front desk staff who had to deal with disgruntled guests on a daily basis. Go without any expectations and you will have a good time!

Adequate Resort

A vacation can never be bad when you are in Jamaica with good friends. That being said we will not return to this resort for a few reasons. The beach areas were too spread out and much too rocky. The hotel and grounds need some maintenance. The pool and beach washrooms are not cleaned or stocked well. The carpet in the hallways was disgusting and should be replace with tile. Our room was always ke [... read more]pt up nicely and they stocked the mini fridge with our preferences. Buffets had plenty of variety and service was good in all but one "a la carte" restaurant . Bar staff in the main areas were excellent but the pool bar was very slow.

Awesome Resort

This resort was beautiful. We had such an amazing week here. The staff were all very friendly and outgoing. They all made us feel at home. Lots of activities for everyone. Looking forward to returning next year.

Not the best value for the money not a 4 1/2 star

The grounds were nice and the buffet dinning room was nice the hallways to your rooms were dirty the toilet didn't work properly and the room smelled of sewer smell some of the staff were rude in dealing with issues at the bar you were served before people in the line if you showed money

Needs revamping !

Was excepting a 'bright, colorful' resort, no color. Everything was white and beige. Needs some re-decorating. Not enough information for guests, always asking for help/directions within the complex. We always vacation in Jamaica because we love the Jamaicans, they are very polite and happy people. But this resort, most employees seemed sad, or angry. NOT... was in Runaway Bay :-( Signs everywhere, that you cannot reserve the pool chairs, well that's a joke !! We woke up early one day, like 7am and there were always reserved chairs... Not enough chairs for everyone, some people were lying directly on the ground around the pool. Although, I would recommend this hotel for family with small children, great set up, lots to do for the kids!

PERFECT SPOT!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The resort is well maintained, clean and comfortable with a friendly staff. The food was fantastic! A great variety everyday. The pools were perfect, the beaches were great. Make sure you go to the beach on the family side of the resort. There seemed to be more space over there and they even have some trees that provide the shade you need at times. The water was clean, clear and warm. We liked the beach better than the pool. Very nice resort

The hotel was constantly being serviced and tended and it showed. The restaurants were very well stocked and the grounds were beautiful. The beaches were not 100%, but adequate. Access to wifi was limited.

Great vacation

We had a great time at the Grand Bahia Principe! We travelled as three couples - food was excellent, pool and beach were beautiful. Small problems with our rooms - fixed quickly. Would definitely go back! Some staff were a bit pushy about tips but overall the staff were great!

Beautiful Resort

This is a very well maintained facility with well appointed rooms. The staff at the facility are very friendly and ready to answer your questions. The beaches are white sand Nd pristine. You will feel very safe inside the compound.

Great the first time but not the second.

We went a second time and up graded room. Not sure why now. Our room was exactly the same , other than we had to listen to a noisy fan from on the roof of the steak house. Complained first day and asked to be moved. Didnt get moved because they were fully booked. Didn’t get the view we were promised either. Our travelling companions asked for two beds,as they are not a couple...nope...single bed...because double bedded rooms are saved for couples with children. Wow. Really. So two grown men h [... read more]ad to suffer with one bed and a couch. This was the upgrade. Never again. Didn’t enjoy flying transat either. Felt like a sardine. No window on the way home. Hot as hades in the plane. What a crappy flight. Will def go back someday, but not this resort or flight company.

Very big resort!

We found the resort a little too large and the buffet food wasn’t the best. The a la cartes were top notch but hard to get reservations. The staff were friendly and the rooms were quite clean. Was a little disappointed that the beach areas were in small sections but still enjoyed it. As far as the bar is concerned, if you don’t tip right away then don’t be upset if you have to wait to be served. Disappointed

We were not overly impressed with this Bahia Principe after going to the one in Mexico. The food didn't compare and the large breakfast buffet more often than not took forever to replenish basic staples, scrambled eggs and bacon! It was also about 95 degrees in that buffet room! Grounds were beautiful, staff friendly and rooms very clean, however the restaurants were so disappointing. We would have liked to know that an adult only area was an option. We also requested an ocean front room....it seemed like miles away, and the view was not really that great! Would not go back to this resort ever again.

Great time at Bahia Principe

We stayed at Bahia Principe for a week with our 6-year old. The pool is gorgeous, the kids splash area was perfect (complete with bar and towel hut) and the food was excellent. The beach is a bit rocky but the water was lovely. The downsides: people reserve loungers, a la cartes book up quickly, and it was a bit noisy on the 1st floor where our room was. Overall a great resort that we would certainly return to

Huge Resort

Lovely resort. Very very huge and spread out. Terrible beaches (man made) directly in front. The one at the end of the resort is very nice however, not handy should anyone have a disability. Food was excellent and most staff excellent. Those whom were pumping Priviledge Club were a little over the top at pestering. Found finally after the 10th approach you had to just say No. All in all good time. Would I go back? Not likely but mainly due to size and lack of close beach.

Great trip!!!!

I have never written a review before but thought I would for the first time as I had a great trip. This hotel I thought was beautiful. The service was good, the food was good. Our room was very spacious. I think this hotel had something for everyone, wether it be relaxing and quiet or dancing in the disco until 2am, or karaoke, sports bar, casino or shows. Also a great place for children with the water park. There was different parts to the beach which I enjoyed and even though a big resort, it never seemed crowded as there is just so much space to the resort. The pool looked beautiful, although I didn't go in as I prefer the beach. Check in was so quick and easy. Took no more then 10min. I did see bad reviews, but did not experience that at all. I would highly recommend the Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica for a great vacation. Beth from trip central was great to. She must have mentioned it was our anniversary because on 2 different occasions during our 7 day stay, we came back to our room and had a bottle of champagne, glasses, plates, cutlery and a fruit plate wrapped in cellophane. Such a nice touch. Just thought I would mention that I have been on vacation every winter for probably 10 years and I think this was my favourite. I was in Jamaica last year in Montego Bay but the beach wasn't as nice as this one

Fun in the sun

Beautiful resort, we had a wonderful trip. The resort is older so you expect some things that need fixing, example we had a crack in our sink. Did that bother us no....petty things like that are not worth complaining about. The only complaints we have is that the beach is not a nice walking beach and the grounds are not big for walking and seeing different things. Food was great, always something to eat for everyone’s different desires. The village is awesome, great for shopping if you want. Pool is beautiful, they were always entertaining you with something if you wanted to take part. Overall it’s a beautiful resort.

Did not meet my all my expectation as per Tv advertisement .

Architecturally; Grandiose ,Landscaping; Spectacular , Location; Superb Beach: Needs improvement to foar from the hotel tomany black spots and stoney areas not a good swim. Lobby area; Bathrooms too far from general entrance areas and insufficient signage especially for newly arriving guest who need to use the facility quickly upon arrival. Night entertainment needs improvement, a dress code for performers / presenters is badly needed. These show personal dress code is not wha [... read more]t I expected to see at a five star hotel. Dirty running shoes , the entertainment representative are properly attired so should be the performers . The welcoming four piece band/ group would be a better choice at night , I finish dinner at 9:30 entertainment was over at 10 one night it was over at 9Pm. Retractable Awning for for areas subjected to rain (ie) steps leading to public areas and hand bars for stairs leading to dining areas. This could be treacherous for the elderly and very dangerous when wet. Hospitality representative need more training include supervisors, they need to be more vigilant of and understand the need for being so. For me to recommend this hotel I need to pay a second visit. I was able to state my concern to a public relations officer and was very please with the response received from the public relation manager. I was invited to a private meeting , he was very professional and promised that he will would bringing my concerns to the next staff meeting. The hospitality / severs discriminates by assumption that a black person is not going to leave a tip or if they do it's not going worth the effort therefore we are ignored. I was told this when I made my booking , but I prefered to get find out if this was true and it sure was. I will return some time to again access it.
