Carisol los Corales: You get what you pay for

I just got back from Club Amigo; this would be my second time going to this resort. I had a wonderful time the first time, the staff was wonderful, the room was great and the food was mediocre (don't go to Cuba for the food lol) This time I went there was a mix up on which side we were booked at, we had to go back and forth to Carisol and Los Coroals. We got moved to three different rooms before we finally got in, which cost us a whole day. The reception staff were not helpful for the most part; [... read more] several managers were rude and did nothing for us for the inconvenience. Very unprofessional experience to say the least!!! On a positive note, the bartenders, maids and entertainment staff were wonderful! They definitely go above and beyond to make sure you have a good time at the resort. The food was better this time around but I am guessing its the time of year because it was busier. All and all the resort is a good place to have a good time with friends, not a fancy place and don't expect much from this place, you get what you pay for.

Brisas Los Galeones: Great time

Very small resort, not for the party type. Perfect for me and my family. Loved the staff, fellow travellers, beach and proximity to town. Food was simple but excellent. Local musicians made the evenings very cultured and enjoyable. Will definitely be returning.

Brisas Sierra Mar: Little piece of heaven

The weather was great and the grounds were beatutiful and peaceful. The hotel is a little older, but clean, and the food was above average for Cuba. They get a lot of repeat business, seems like the weather is almost guaranteed, and the staff is very nice and chatty if you show an interest.

Brisas Los Galeones: Different kind of vacation

Small resort, friendly people (stuff & guests). Small, but never crowded, amazing beach, around three hundred stairs to get there (good exercise); no noisy entertainment. Recommended for everyone who likes quiet vacation.

Carisol los Corales: Very nice resort

Clean and nicely kept .That was our fifth times in these hotels.See was varm and clean Wee use to goo in water 8.30-9.oo am .You can stay in a hour with no problem. For food you find something you like .

Carisol los Corales: Amazing resort!

Good resort for the price! The beach is nice with bar,mfood and coco water on place. However, there are algues along most beach area. Beautiful landscape around. Weather and water temperature are simply amazing. The fish restaurant at Carisol is delicious,food overall is average (home style, nothing too fancy) however it is all fresh and tasty. The staff is usually nice and friendly, especially if you speak a little español! The rooms are very nice with functionning conditioner, clean bathroom and huge windows. The water ballet was simply spectacular (from all the shows at night)

Brisas Los Galeones: Lovely quiet little resort

Rooms: basic, but fine for sleeping. Nice terrace off every room. No bad views. The 200 block is the best. Food is fine - sometimes items are not available, but we were happy with the choice and portion size. Beach is lovely - great lunch. About 260 steps to the beach mean you work off the extra calories you ingest. The best thing about this resort is the fact it is very small and quiet - no loud music thumping or people trying to get you to dance the merengue.

Carisol los Corales: Good value for the money

I like location, weather, facilities, staff and service. Food is good as well. Very good and safe location for family with kids. My only suggestion is to arrange kids entertainment in evening. It wouldn't take much but will means a lot.

Carisol los Corales: Nice Hotel, Nice People

If you don't eat pork or meat in general, it will be tough because there will be a lot of meat. The service is great, people are very friendly and will do anything to help out. They have pizza and lasagna freshly cooked almost every day at 12pm at Carisol. The problem with the beach: seaweed. Though it may not be such a problem in itself, but where there is seaweed, there is a sea urchin, therefore there are specific areas for swimming. Free coconuts, drinks and food right at the beach. Amazing  [... read more]pool bar with amazing service. The hotel is split in two parts: Carisol and Los Corales. Both have their own buffet, their own pool and their own activities. You can go to either, but I preffered Carisol for its people, its pool and its food. Don't forget suntan lotion because it is HOT and the sun is brutal, whether in December or in July, hot hot hot.

Brisas Los Galeones: new management, unfortunate changes

After nearly thirty years of annual visits to Cuba, mostly at all-inclusive resorts from Havana circling the island to Santiago de Cuba, we thought last year that we'd finally found the ideal place: Los Galeones, a 32-room lovely hotel on top of a hill, 300 steps up from a beautifully secluded beach. Since no guests under 16 are permitted, this resort stood out among all the others as a very peaceful, quiet place where one can actually relax and enjoy a conversation with friends, read a book or  [... read more]even just sit and listen to the ocean. Of course we had to return there, and did for the latter two weeks of November, only to find that it's under new management. How sad to discover that this new man is determined to kill the uniqueness of the previous Galeones by turning it more and more into the over-all loud and obnoxious "entertainment" that's now a daily routine. Even down at the beach he insists that a band should play, every day, during lunch, while there is no escape from the earsplitting bands at the upstairs dining room every dinner. We discussed this new development with a number of regular "repeats" at this resort and concluded, that they will no longer be "repeats" if things don't return at least for 50 or 60 % of our time there to the former blissful quiet ambiance that made it so special.

Brisas Sierra Mar: Bria's sierra mar

Scenery was outstanding. Service and people very kind and nice. There were a lot of repeat vacationers. Food was ok but 3 of our party got sick. Elevators were not working apron arrival, 3 days later they were working. Recommend for scenery, but not for people who cannot climb stairs.

Brisas Los Galeones: Los Galeones

The 300 steps are still there; the hill (driveway) is still very uneven; but the hotel itself has been updated with new mattresses and some flat-screen TVs. Still have room for improvement, but it is so small and intimate that you meet your fellow guests in an hour; food is no longer excellent, but still the best we've had in Cuba. Best staff ever; maintenance crew were always available for the smallest thing; a few blips of power outages (lasted about 10 minutes each) but occurred in the mornin [... read more]g so didn't need to get flashlight out! For R&R the best ever; for active people, you will get a work out!

Brisas Sierra Mar: negative reviews are false!

This hotel is a gem!. Other reviews state hotel is dated and gearing down..this is just not true! Staff resort and food were amazing! However, if it was not for trip central, this vacation would not have been possible! Everything was seamless front ticket purchase to return

Brisas Sierra Mar: Really enjoyed my stay there

Beautiful location /scenery. It wasn't a full season when I was there so it was nice and quiet. Food was tasty but not much choice. Excellent service , beautiful dancing/ performances. Many steps/ staircase going down to the beach but my legs got much stronger because of that. (You can also use the elevator). Would like to go there again.

Carisol los Corales: Amazing trip!!

Second year at this hotel and as expected the service was great. Friendly people, always ready to help. A great addition this year is the attendant with the long chairs, Ernesto, who is always at your service. We'll go back next year for sure!!!

Brisas Los Galeones: Truly amazing!

Small, intimate, with truly personal service from staff obviously very happy to have you as their guest, and a veiw that is as good or better than any anywhere in the world from every room! I know, it sounds too good to be true, but check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Brisas Sierra Mar: amazing location

Location of hotel is amazing,at hotel there is a lot of maintenance work to be done,water is leaking on corridors. Also in the middle of evening show when all guests are sitting together whatching show they decided to spray resort for mosquitos,that could wait about 30 min until show is over.

Brisas Sierra Mar: What a surprise!!

This was my 5th trip to this resort this year. On our second night we returned from dinner to find a Cuban security guard in our room who had broken in thru the patio doors. We were able to pick him out the next day and was then fired from the hotel. The staff were very comforting. We had the maintenance staff give us 2 pieces of wood to be placed in the patio doors to ensure our security. At this point not sure about travelling by myself again. This certainly ruined the remainder of our week. Carisol los Corales: Always a pleasure

This hotel is wonderful they go out of their way to help everyone. Santiago and Los Corales are magical places. Lots of fun. Weather is always great, pool is great. Beach is fun, lots to see and do. Beach staff are wonderful. Serg is awesome. Management at the hotel is wonderful always helpful and friendly.

Brisas Sierra Mar: Clean with amazing scenery

Brisas Sierra Mar was no doubt an amazing resort in its younger days. It has grown tired and in desperate need of some updates. That being said, the hotel is very clean, rooms typical, the food was very good (I have never said that about the food at any hotel in Cuba), staff was very warm and friendly and the view of the mountains and ocean is amazing. The beach has very dark sand unlike most beaches in Cuba so you don't get the turquoise picture perfect looking beach. Water was beautiful and wa [... read more]rm. Bring mosquito repellent as many people were getting bit at the beach. Lastly, my only real complaint is that on the weekend, the resort allows locals to pay a day/weekend rate to use the resort. The only reason I have issue with this is because most of the locals who visit seem to have no respect for the resort or anyone staying there. Many were rude and left garbage and cigarette butts everywhere. Resort staff quickly tried to clean up but were clearly unimpressed. This only occurs on weekends so it's not the end of the world and for the price, it's really not a bad deal for a quick, cheap getaway. I would not make this my "be all" trip of the year but definitely a great side trip for some R&R at a cheap price.
