Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing resort

We booked through Trip central ca Liz did very good job for our trip. The resort is nice close to airport. Peaceful quiet they need more chairs under shade for really upgrade. No noise at all quite place night shows are amazing specially the magic show was super duper Roy magician is top notch guy for magic.Only minor issue is the wifi only in lobby Beach it's limited in the rooms. Overall its very good resort. I just came back this week after one week

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great resort

The hotel was clean,the maid service was great.The buffet had good food,clean ,good service.The beach was clean.The entertainment was good. I would recommend buying your liquor at the duty free store at the airport better prices.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful resort

The hotel was old, but super clean. The beach was super windy so we spent most of our time at the quiet pool and met lots of amazing guests. Our favourite employee was Jackie she was amazing. The food was good, plenty of it, and you could Always find something to eat. The front desk staff weren’t as friendly as I would have expected and people say 1st timers got lots of perks, we got none of that. Overall we had an amazing time and the few issues were nothing that could have ruined our time.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great time

Food at the Buffet and al a cartes were amazing. Staff in the buffet was amazing. The al a cartes could use some work. If you are not a pool person, seating is scarce. I had requested main floor as I have limited mobility but received the second floor in the farthest building from the beach. With that and many stairs during the journey, we never got to the beach. Therefore, if you have any limitations, this is not the resort for you. Other than that, we did enjoy our stay

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach Resort

Great value for your money. The resort is older and showing its age but the people make up for it. Perfect for a relaxing beach vacation with good food. Nice to see they invested in new chairs for the buffet and entertainment area. It would be nice if they invested in more umbrellas at pool and beach. We wanted to go on the bike tour but couldn't find 4 bikes that worked. Small investment to get the bikes working. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Exallante!

Lovely resort with lots to offer. The grounds were very well kept and the room was clean. The staff were welcoming and the food was delicious (too much so!). There was not much going on in terms of evening entertainment and if I had any suggestions it would be for the resort to up their efforts in that regard. Overall it is a beautiful getaway

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Great for families

This is a small resort that is quite compact and great for families with young kids or ageing parents. It is very windy on the beach most of the afternoon I felt there was a lot of variety on the buffet however, they didn’t have very many special nights One bar usually with not much of a lineup and the bartenders were very friendly Fun entertainment staff

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Very Nice !

Grounds and public areas were kept clean , lots of employees always busy ! Friendly servers on the most part . Food was great , huge variety. Rooms were fine but could use updates. I will mention if you are a solo female traveller, the front lobby male employees were very suggestive and forward in offering services. Just a warning , May make some very nervous .

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful staff. Very helpful!

The room was nice and clean. The pool areas were cleaned regularly, and there was a great selection of food to chose from. They had 3 wonderful dining areas that you could book. They main food court has helpful staff and the eating areas were always clean.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great hotel.

Very clean. The employees are very friendly. They all go out of their way to make you're stay the best it can be. The house keepers do a great job with the rooms. Been there 5 times. It's our go to place in Dominican. Food is very good. Like any place you go, you get some very rude guesses. Nothing to do with the resort.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Wonderful trip!

We had a great time at this resort. I will try to touch on everything I can.... Food: I am a picky eater....and I left the buffet each night with my belly full! Were things repeated each night...yes. Were they good each...yes! But there were also new items each night too. I dont eat seafood at all and it was abundant here. My husband tried every kind of fish offered and never had a complaint. There is also a snack bar open across the pool during the afternoon...has small but slightly different menu than legends. We went to 2 a la cartes. Japanese was ok. I wasn't a fan but my group thought it was fantastic. The steakhouse was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The steak was cooked to perfection. The mash potatoes were delicious. Everyone in our group ordered slight different things and no one was disappointed! Beach: beach at Senator is a bit smaller and has some rocks. I do recommend shoes but i didnt wear any and i made out just fine. As a very pale person I enjoyed alot of shade....this was no an issue at the beach. Lots of trees to park my chair under. It is pretty quiet except for the waves crashing....very peaceful. Many a naps were had! LOL Pool: the pool is great. pool bar was well stocked. lots of brand new chairs and umbrellas arnd the pool. Only spent 1 day there myself but my group spent all their time there. No complaints. Staff: ALL staff here were super friendly and helpful. I dont ask too many questions but when I did they were always helpful and courteous. Cleanliness: Public bathrooms here were the best ive ever seen!! always clean and tp was fully stocked. Grounds arnd pool and beach were also top notch. They people here work very hard and one of the cleanest resorts ive been to. We spent some time at Playabachata also. Their pool was a bit more lively. But also very hot in late afternoon. Not many umbrellas and chairs are older. You have full access to the resort when staying at Senator. Their beach is much bigger and also has lots of shade if needed. All in all I give this resort 5*s. Might not be the fanciest but it was very clean and we had a great time.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Very Nice Resort

This was my second visit within 4 months, 7 days both visits. A wonderful greeting from Carlos as we arrived. He took care of our luggage and saw us to our room. He is so helpful and informative, very friendly and makes you feel like you’re a special guest. He is a real gem. The hotel is lucky to have him. The rooms are small and could use an update, lighting in the bathroom is horrible, needs updating, the bathroom especially is very dated and tired. All the employees are wonderful and welcoming. Always accommodating. The staff in the buffet are very very busy in the mornings at breakfast, it was sometimes quite a wait to get a coffee. They could certainly use more servers in the buffet. The a la cartes were overall quite nice. The food throughout the resort is amazing. The main buffet was fully stocked with loads of choices . The beach grill has the best chicken wings I’ve ever eaten. Pizza is fabulous as well. You certainly do not ever leave hungry. The bars are okay, nothing fancy, they do accommodate you with any drinks choices you might ask for if they have the ingredients. I’d love to have had mimosas though. A beautiful lobby bar would be a lovely addition. Beach was beautiful, good for swimming and snorkeling. Lifeguard always on duty. The pool is nice, however I did not spend a lot of time in or around the pool. Towels were always available and lots of loungers to choose from. The evening entertainment was generally good. We did take in a few of the evening events. Overall I’d rate the resort a 4 out of 5.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: VH Grand did not disappoint

This was my 2nd trip to the Grand this winter and both trips were amazing. The resort is just the right size, it’s so clean and well cared for. Always enough chairs, towels and the food is some of the best I’ve had. The buffet was as good as the a la cartes. The staff are amazing Carlos met us at the bus and remembered we had been there 2 months before. He is very professional, punctual, and efficient. VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Loved it

My husband and I just got back from this resort and are already planning on going back, Yes the rooms are a bit dated, yes there isn’t a disco but the food is GOOD, the beach is gorgeous and everyone is very nice and kind. Felt very safe here and did some amazing excursions. A great place for a relaxing holiday.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Gone downhill

We visited this hotel 10’yeats ago and had a great experience. This yea we tried it again and it was not the same experience. The grounds were dirty, pools all needed repainted lawn chairs broken everywhere. Garbage laying around all over. The staff was more interested in telling you what they would charge you with than helping. We all had food poisoning out last night and were sick for 10 hours. Entertainment was lacking and there was no Sunday vip party as advertised. Would never visit again.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Was an ok resort

The resort was clean and rooms were large . The maid service was terrible, two days we never had anyone . They take all your towels and facecloths early in morning like 9-930 and you have to chase to find the maid to get new ones . Food was great !! The only other thing is ya really had to be aware as there was one or two steps everywhere and in the evening not really noticeable and there was absolutely no handrails anywhere , in pool or where there was two or three steps

Playabachata Hotel: Playabactcta Resort

The rooms were mediocore at best ...musty smelling in need of repairs . Food was a hit and miss not much variety the best thing was the pasta. Foam party was fun drinks weak . Steak house was horrible not steak not sure swas kinda meat was served itaian was way better. Would rather pay extra and stay at the neighboring resort....

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Excellence

We stayed 3 unforgettable days, wished we had more) Very clean hotel without mosquitos, nice buffet, friendly animators, good vibe. For snorkeling, it’s not the best option though because of seaweeds and sand in the water. Thank you Heaven Team!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Underwhelming

Rooms were a big disappointment. Standard rooms are well below standard. I suspect this is because they want your upgrade dollars. The upgraded room ($’s) were better though the bathrooms are tiny and badly maintained. Both sink and especially the shower did not drain. Nice if you want water puddling around your feet…eew! Front desk people are sullen and uninviting. Food was great. Grounds were immaculately maintained. Entertainment was ok. Beach area is nice. A la carte were ok.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Quaint and friendly resort

We were there from March 12 to March 23. Staff is amazing and make you feel very welcomed! This hotel is currently under renovations (for more than 2 years from what we were told) therefore we did not get the room we thought we would get. The buildings shown on the map that are to be specific to VIP are closed therefore we cannot rely on the resort map. They have a huge pool and there were no difficulties accommodating everyone at the pool. They are in the process of adding quite a few tiki u [... read more]mbrellas to provide more shaded areas around the pool. Wish they would enforce their rule about reserving spots at the pool as on many occasions we would see these chairs with towels from 6am till after lunch with not a soul tending to them. Food was good but we feel there was not enough variety at the buffet. All 3 a la carte restaurants are on a first come first serve basis for all. We enjoyed all 3 more than once. Room was clean and re-stocked daily with no complaints but I must say that we were disappointed that the beer given in our rooms and at VIP lounge is Coors Light. Their local beer was only available on tap at the bars. We are the type where after a long day in the sun, we enjoy relaxing on the balcony/terrace but unfortunately the most uncomfortable chairs of the resort are situated there which prevented us from being able to unwind comfortably outdoors before calling it a night. We truly have no complaints. It's more about a few disappointments which we all end up having at whatever resort we go to. Demographically, we love where this resort is situated as you can walk many places...Jumbo , MacDonalds or Burger King if you wish to have a taste of home, their liquor store which has a full serve bar and the beach was long enough for a good walk as well. We are not at the point in our lives where we want to go back to the same resorts we have already been but I will say we will be back in Puerto Plata. We have no regrets staying at the Marien. Due to the renovations occuring, I would not recommend at this time.
