Amazing Resort

Loved the resort, just was a little disappointed that there was no music in the restaurants. Staff was amazing they couldn't do enough for you, every time my friend and I went to a bar we had our wine and water before we sat down. All the staff were smiling all the time and always said Hola every time they saw you.

Excellent Choice

High quality property combined with the flexibility of opting into the all-inclusive package make the Melia Marina Apartments an excellent alternative to the conventional all-inclusive format. With in suite cooking facilities, 5 restaurants on site and cash bar at the beach mean the client has ultimate flexibility. We opted for the all-inclusive option 2 out of the 6 days/7 nights and were off site or ate at the restaurants the rest of the trip. As a result we realized huge savings..

Great spot, staff need sensitivity training

Unfair treatment to guests that are not all inclusive. All guests should check in and be made to feel welcome at the main hotel. Not be made to feel, second class. A welcome drink to all guests. Better organization for shuttling guests in golf carts.

Great resort and awesome staff!

The resort was very clean and well-maintained. The staff was very prompt and polite and courteous. The food was surprisingly good despite my friends warning me that food wasn't the best in Cuba. Quiet section of the beach was perfect for relaxing while offering the catarmaran and snorkelling tours!

Beautiful Varadero Beach!

Newest resort in Varadero with clean modern rooms. Good buffet selection and a la carte restaurants. Enjoyed the evening entertainment - they work really hard and are so talented! Best part was Varadero Beach which is just stunning. Crystal blue warm waters! Be sure to take a catamaran ride and go snorkeling with Arturo!

More a hotel than a resort

Melia Marina Varadero is a lovely place and perhaps Cuba's first genuine 5 star facility. It is however not really a resort. Yes it is all inclusive and has a pool and a beautiful beach, the latter with lots of shade options and always beach chairs available but it lacks the guest friendliness one will find at other Cuban resorts. Activities may happen or may not. If they do, staff participation is minimal and often staff show little interest; just going through the motions. Wait staff is effici [... read more]ent most of the time. With the exception of the pool side restaurant the food is outstanding. Don't expect to be served at the swim up bar; it won't happen. You have to get out of the water and walk to the other side to order your drink. While there are lots of shade options at the beach the same cannot be said for the pool area. If you go, consider upgrading to "the Level" it is definitely worth the extra cost.

OK experience.......

We were first let down by the Hotel immediately since our room wasn't ready until 7:30pm. Also the grounds were not kept as clean as I expected from Iberostar. But as the we progressed we found the resort to be acceptable.

Very good resort

We travelled late March to Melia marina Varadero. The location is a bit far from everything, about a half hour or so from Varadero and the second to last resort on the peninsula. However, it was quiet and had everything one could want. The biggest issue I had was the drinks being uninteresting and too small and the entertainment is outside and it was in an ackward area where you couldn't always get a seat with a view of the "stage". The Latin and french restaurants were excellent. We flew canjet and had no issues. Be careful to know what you are getting. The European plan option is not all inclusive as there are condos on the property that are cook yourself kind of places. The resort is set up for both with a market area that is not part of the all inclusive. You have your own pool at the condos. We were all inclusive. We prefer it that way. We definately recommend this property and the level service.

Fantastic!

This is one of the best hotel in Cuba, I was by myself, I feel safe, the food was good, excellent service. The room was super clean! Cannot asked for better, everyone in the hotel had a smile on, you will love it!

Fantastic resort

The room was brilliant, food was great, pools perfect but the evening entertainment was spectacular...french a la carte restaurant was excellent...will definitely return to this resort soon...Varadero is like a second home.

5 Star Accomodations!!

The Melia Marina Aparttments are beautifully designed and built. They are spacious and upscale to this area. You need to be resourceful for meals in and a little creative win the one pot and one pan thT is supplied to you! There are no starter packs of dish soap or dish washer detergent let alone a dish cloth or anything to wash dishes with. No facecloths either. The unit is not supplies with a broom. The bus ride into town is very enjoyable and I recommend on taking i to the far end and loop back just to see the sights. A very enjoyable vacation.

Relaxing, fun, a good time!

We were pleased with the resort. Our room was very clean, and well kept. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The beach was beautiful and clean. The pool area was beautiful. Daily/nightly entertainment were excellent. The food was good, we especially enjoyed the inclusive a la cart restaurants. We would definitely visit this resort again. Wifi worked occasionally, and was NOT free :( This did not hinder our trip though, as it was nice to get away from the digital world for a week.

Great vacation option for the right people;)

We had an incredible time at the movie at Marina Varadero apartments and the flexibility that the European plan offered to our family was wonderful. We read about five hours of reviews beforehand and packed a lot of dried goods with us. This plan will work for you if you are aware that the selection of food is nothing like what we have at home but there are lots of options like eating in great restaurants in town or cooking something simple in your unit. We enjoyed all of the walking that comes with staying at this place ...for example popping out to the store about 10 minutes each way to go and get some milk/coke for our Ron or to check at the café to see if they had any fresh bread. The apartment was beautiful with a few little quirks that we didn't even bother to complain about because who wants to complain on vacation? There is a small pool 2 to 3 times the size of the backyard pool at the apartments which we loved and the beach is breathtaking, but a good 15 min walk away - we never had any trouble finding four lounge chairs in the shade no need to head out early in the morning to reserve a spot! We had a fabulous vacation and will definitely return;)

Good Experience w Melia Marina

Very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Surprised though they didn't speak more english! The food was OK. Coffee was excellent! We stayed in the apartments which was nice as it was away from the crowded areas.

Amazing!!

It a very clean hotel, with very modern style . The view of the marina is simply amazing ! The staff are very nice specially jany and yamilka just to name a few.The day and night entertainment are very very good! I will return to this resort anytime!! And we met the manager of the resort , he is a gentlemen . Thanks to all of you

Melia Marina Apartments is NOT Melia Marina Hotel

I booked our trip at the last minute and left with a girlfriend to escape the winter cold. Upon arriving to the apartment that we were booked into, we literally hooted with joy because it was so beautiful and spacious. New, clean, and with a fabulous view out to the Marina (room 304, I believe it was). Things went a little downhill after that point. While the website tells you that you can buy an all-inclusive pass to the hotel facilities (food, drinks) every day, this is not accurate. Some day [... read more]s we were told that the hotel was too full, so we were out of luck. This would have been fine if (1) there had been a stocked supermarket nearby, (2) there were more than a couple of utensils and perhaps even a dish cloth in the kitchen, (3) if it wasn't randomly dictated who received the all-inclusive bracelets, and (4) if it did not mean we were excluded from accessing the pool and the beach (which is a public beach!). Without a bracelet on, you are stopped by hotel security and told not to enter the premises. We assumed the all-inclusive pass applied to only food and drinks, but apparently it applies to the pool and the beach as well. It was hard to figure out what the actually "rules" were because the staff at the apartments spoke very little English (if any) and told different guests different things. I secured an AMAZING price via tripcentral.ca so I certainly feel no regret. But, I would not choose to return again. If you have already booked an apartment, do not despair. Take this advice and have a great experience: (1) secure a room on the marina side, otherwise you'll have a view over a parking lot, (2) bring your own basic kitchen supplies such as dish soap and dish cloth, (3) pack your own food -- as much as you can! -- into your suitcase, such as pasta sauce, rice, peanut butter, etc. When you read the promotional material, it will tell you that there is a "supermarket" -- it is not what we think of as a supermarket. It has very little to actually make a meal with ... no fresh milk, no veggies, no fruit, not even bread. (4) if the staff at the apartments tell you that something is not possible, don't believe them .. go and ask another staff member, or better yet, walk over to the hotel side where the staff speak excellent English and are very professional. I hope you will find this review helpful. I know I always appreciate reviews from other visitors! Have a great trip!

Amazing resort!!!

We had a great time and everything was perfect! We loved staying next to a marina. The rooms were very nice, the pools were huge and well designed. The food was very good. We love the BBQ next to the beach.

The best resort so far

We have stayed in many resorts in Cuba as we have been there several times - including 5 times in Veradero. Melia Marina, in all areas, is definitely a 5 star! The staff is exceptionally friendly, accommodating.......went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable. Anyone who complains about this resort likely has nothing to compare it to. The buffet has something for everyone - breakfast is awesome. We were upgraded to a 1 bedroom condo on arrival, and we would definitely go that route a [... read more]gain. The condos have their own private pool which suited us to a tee. And the staff at that location is the best! Melia Marina is our destination of choice for next year. Thank you for our best Cuban experience so far.

Beautiful Resort!

Loved the resort! Everything was very clean and tidy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Service great! Room was spacious, fresh, nicely decorated and very clean. Had a great time and would definitely go back.

Amazing

Excellent places to visit and people are very nice. We were in a one bedroom apartment which is very good to stay. We both feel it as our home. Our apartment was facing to the marina view. So we enjoyed the view a lot at the time of relaxation. Nice resort to relax.
