What you would expect!

The resort itself was fairly nice. The rooms and hotel/pool area were very relaxin and comfortable. Only complaint about this resort is lack of decent food which is what I expected when booking to Cuba. It seems to be the trend with most Cuban resorts so it wasn't a make or break for the trip. After a couple days you get accustomed on what to eat or not so don't let that hinder your decision on going!

Fantastic resort

The valentine perla blanca is a fantastic getaway for adults. The grounds are kept prestin and the level of service is 5 star for sure.there is always something to do never a boring day there.the food is fantastic for Cuba. I wI'll be returning to the resort loved it.is highly recommend upgrading to the privilege package. It gives you more al la carte dinners and a private breakfast area also a private lounge and late checkout

Amazing resort!

Just got back from a weeks stay and we loved it! The hotel was nice, very clean and the beach was spectacular! The drinks were cold and the bartenders were polite. Our favourite were the two at the beach bar. Very nice! The food wasn't too bad, you get used to it after a couple days haha. Andy helped us to our room the first night and treated us very well all week. Brought us souvenirs and even invited us to his home next time we come. We will miss him! We would definitely return to this resort

Amazing all a round !

We totally enjoyed our vacation at this resort. Great But No Wow Factor

While we did have a great time while at the Valentin Perla Blanca, for some reason that we really can't pinpoint, we would not go back. We were Silver Privilege Guests that I think was worth the little bit extra you pay and stayed on the activities pool side, which we were very happy with. We thought our room was great, the resort layout was great, the pool was great, the staff was great in all respects (friendly, service and accommodating) including English speaking upon initial interaction ( [... read more]here's a shout out to David in the Lobby Bar who was amazing!) , the 1 show that we saw was surprisingly the best out of all resorts we have stayed at previously in various destinations (great dancers in sync), even the food was the best we've had in Cuba (no complaints at all - a la cartes were great) and we've been to other areas of Cuba. But we did find the beach to be less than desirable, though the ocean was beautiful to look at and enjoy while in it, the beach itself was just unkempt and too narrow with not enough palapa options with broken lounge chairs just thrown about. You have to walk a bit to get to a nice area and we are just used to walking driectly on the beach and having it be pristine. The excuses we got for lack of wireless internet were a joke despite it being part of our paid package that we would get 1 hour wifi each day but didn't get our connection cards until the 4th day there. We just needed a couple of moments to connect, then move on. When we were tired of wasting our time waiting in long lines each day only to be told "no internet today" and not given the wifi cards, we finally complained to the Privilege Lounge Manager who physically got us our cards, but we never were able to connect, though guests who already had cards did get connected later each day. They should not offer wifi in a package deal! And although the resort is only 3 years old, it was very much in need of repair in various areas and we didn't see a lot of working staff dealing with these ongoing issues to keep it looking like a 4+ star resort. All said in done, you make your holiday what it is, and don't let minor inconveniences put a damper on things. We had a great time. Weather was perfect. We had fun. And that's really all we could ask for!

What I mostly appreciate about this resort is the professionalism of most of the employees. I would especially like to thank Susy, the bartender; Niobel and Ayleen, the servers; Yosnel, the room bartender; Victor Manuel, another great bartender, and not to forget Ariel and Duel, the amazing bartenders team from the pool...You guys, are all going above and beyond for your guests...

Great Vacation

Bev Johnston was very knowledgeable and helpful. We would definitely recommend booking with her and Trip Central. Location was perfect, resort was very nice. Hard to beat Cuba for value. We would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a reasonably priced vacation. Not perfect but overall a wonderful experience.

Not up to our service standard

The resort itself is very nice and everything is close and very convenient; however, the service that we are used to was not there! They seemed to be understaffed and maybe this is because they are just new and they are still working on getting the kinks out. Since we both love the beach, we had a hard time finding a cabana as there were very few and far between, very disappointing to not be able to enjoy the beach. We would most likely not return. Was impressed!

Was afraid to visit Cuba.......but, rooms were spacious, clean, modern. Very large resort so allot of walking, and beach is quite far from the resort, so no ocean views from anywhere other than the beach. There was always shaded areas at the pool and beach. Service was good, and always with a smile. Did not like the drinks very much, they just did not taste like the normal resort drinks. No variety, always cold, not allot to choose from at all. The bus ride was long to get there from the airport but is was ok. Would I go again? Good resort

This resort was very good for Cuba but very large...beach and pool were awesome, our bartender Ariel and waiter Jorge were the best!!! Had an awesome time. Ride from airport to resort is too long. Resort had no store for snacks or drinks...

Nice resort, no nightlife!

If your looking for a relaxing, quiet, early night kind of resort then I would recommend. Food was good for Cuba, we thought the grounds and rooms were beautiful as well. But after the nightly show in the theatre (finished at 10) there was absolutely nothing going on. No music in the main lobby, no disco, no other entertainment at all. ONE night they had a beach foam party which was amazing and we really wished they had things like that planned more often. Even throughtout the day the "party poo [... read more]l" rarely had music or entertainment. Wi-Fi was super shitty and if your booking spend the money for the privledged, totally worth it! Didn't have to wait in lines to book anything, had a much better a la carte style breakfast and they privledged bar was awesome we spend a lot of our time there. Would try somewhere else next time.

Wonderful Experience!

This resort was the most appealing and wonderful experience I have had in Cuba. The bus ride after the flight was long, but knowing that the was fun, sun , food and relaxation after made it worth while....20 minutes after arriving at the hotel, we were in our beautiful room with the most amazing views.yes i said views!!! From our top floor balcony to the left was the bluest water ever , the ocean.......straight ahead, this quaint little lake........to the right the pool and pool bar......what m [... read more]ore can you ask for! The little snack bar at the pool has great food....chicken wings and beer. and....If you want a quick easy going regular breakfast thats the place to go.....met a wonderful cuban lady , named Adaisy.......she looked after us and always had a smile a hug and a kiss for us....The whole staff was friendly and always ready to help...The buffet was very good.....always tasty and well served. The gentleman that drove the golf carts were always courteous and ful of knowledge. The a la cartes were very good, enjoyed the french , and the salmon was excellent at the seafood restaurant. The lobby cafe had the best ice caps....with kaluha . The wifi was sketchy......The cleaning staff did an amazing job......only thing about the rooms that i didnt care for...the window that was between the shower and the bed......our cleaning person was able to rig a shower curtain over it for privacy.. Over all, a great week,,,,,,,,would go back for sure!

The Resort facilities is 5 star but the food is at best 3 star

Room, grounds, lobby, pools, etc.. were out of this world. The food in the buffet and the a la carte restaurants were way below par. The grill stations in the buffet can not keep up with the demand and most of the times the meat/fish were raw and lacking any flavor. I used to joke with my wife guessing what the food will be. It repeats 100% every lunch and dinner. There was one time they had chicken wings (which disappeas instantly) and once make-your-own pizza in the buffet. No shrimp and no f [... read more]ried fish at all. We ended up eating french fries and chicken fingers and sometimes chicken wings in the 24 snack bar almost every day. We went to the Italian restaurant which did not offer pizza, and to the sea food restaurant and got the lobster dinner for 20 cuc once and grilled chicken once and grilled salmon another time and asked for the sauce on the side and not on top as the sauce did not taste good. The 2 hour trip from the airport (especially at night) is a show stopper. The beach on the extreme left is wide and beautiful and the bar on that side we heard has a chef between 12 and 3 pm who offers tasty grilled chicken burgers but we never got to taste as we only knew the day we were leaving, this service is not advertised anywhere and if you don't show up early they run out of chicken very fast. Baisey at the front desk was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We were there for the sun and beach mainly and we got that but if you are not eating well that reflects on your vacation badly. I will not go to Valentin again for sure.

Great place for adults only.

Relaxing vacations

My husband and I returned from our week's vacations from Valentin Perla Blanca in Cayo Santa Maria. It was our fourth stay on this island but we always visited different resort. All together, it was our 13Th vacation in Cuba since the early nineties. When compared to other places, tnis resort is fairly new, very modern , very clean and well maintained. The grounds are well kept, gardens absolutely beautiful. Both pools are very clean and surrounded by palm trees and flowering bushes. It was kept nice and clean by a lovely young lady who was always happy to make us comfortable. And it has to be said about all the cuban people working in the resorts. This is the biggest asset to the country that is otherwise extremely poor. Compared to other resorts we visited during all the years, the biggest disappointment was the food. It is the first time I have to agree with people who are not very happy with food in Cuba, and I have to say we had much better choices in buffets in other places. Only the a'la cards restaurants were worth visiting. The buffets were disorganized chaos during lunch or dinner because the cooks and servers were overwhelmed by the amount of turists they had to serve and the layout of the buffets should be changed because it is very hard to reach certain foods through the lineups of people waiting for their orders to be cooked. All in all we had a lovely week, the beach was beautiful, especially in the afternoons when the tide was out and we could walk in the shallow, warm water for guite a distance from the hotel. There is one thing I like to mention. This is an adult only resort and most of the visitors are in their twenties to thirties. If you like calm and quiet, the better choice would be a family oriented place.

Great Time!

The resort was beautiful! Grounds were kept clean and fresh, service and staff were so much fun and super friendly and helpful! Our room was good, we requested a King bed but did not get one, no big deal for us though! We had good water pressure and it was always warm. The maid did a great job of cleaning our room and re-stocking our fridge for us. The food was just okay, it's Cuba so you can't expect too much, but we always found something we liked! Hi I had a great time at your hotel the grounds the beaches everything was absolutely beautiful unfortunately I got hurt I got sunburn on my second day and I was in my room for three days but your stuff there took good care of me but me the breakfast lunch and dinner when I needed it and they are absolutely great polite just great but I will actually come back there again sometime soon this time that gets sunburned hahaha but thanks again I had a great time

Amazing resort

Our trip to our resort started with a 90 minute bus ride from the airport. Our guide made us feel very welcome and told us about the countryside and especially about the long causeway to our resort. Everything about this hotel was 5*. You always were welcomed by all of the extremely hard working staff. The food was really great, probably not as much spices as one was used to here in Canada, but you had salt and pepper shakers on the tables. We decided to take it easy while here so we did not go on any of the tours.

Good hotel but not 4 star

Pros: It has 2 pools, party pool and relaxing pool. beautiful beach. beautiful gardens. There were 4 kittens living in the garden. room was clean. Cons: They gave us a room with 2 single bed and pushed the bed together. our remote did not have a battery and it took them 2 days to give us battery. Food was almost the same for lunch and dinner and had very little variety. staff was not friendly and did not care much.
