Melia Costa Rey: Not so satisfying.
This Review is for Sunscape Bavaro Beach in Punta Cana
Apparently I was supposed to have the Deluxe Oceanview Room and much to my disappointment I had no room! I was not in the system. Unbelievable! You could imagine how I felt. Very angry and upset. This has never happened to me before. Looking at the Itinerary, now, it did not have a confirmation number on it. Anyways, I had to wait 3 hours. At this time, I went for dinner at the buffet. My friends arriving an hour later are checking in wi[... read more]thout problems. Talking to other people on the resort these mistakes seem to be common!! My room was not Oceanview it looked over the walkway of the resort. The room was fine. Housekeeping did not always clean my room. There was a time where I had to shower with my dirty towel after being on the beach all day. The sand on the beach was nice. There was a lot of seaweed on the sand and apparently the last day it was cleared. Out of the five a la carts, the Asian "Chopsticks" and the French a la carts where great. I had to eat there two times to be content. The Italian a la cart was not good. The only good thing here was the caprese salad and the tiramisu. Thankfully I have somewhat of a nice tan and needed the break. It was difficult to communicate since they do not all speak English. The locals that are set up on the walkways to sell their items are very, very persistent!! A lot of vacationers where not happy with this!

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Nice resort
Our experience was in general positive! It feels more like a 4 stars (Cuba) then a 4 1/2
The food was great, but we didn't try the restaurants a la carte...we liked the buffet :)!!
They could improve the snack bar...the first time I wanted to try it, I asked for 2 different plates, and both were not available at that time! Don't take the veggie sandwich
We also asked for 2 double beds, and we got 2 singles
Pools could be a little bit more clean, the water was not 100% clear!
Ants in t[... read more]he room
The resort is nice, and nothing to complain about the buffet
Beach is nice, long enough to take long walk
We were at the Sanctuary, adult section
We can recommend this hotel if the price is good!!!

Hotel Playa Coco: Amazing weather and beach- Aug 31 - Sept 7 2017
Beach great, but lots of coral along the shore.
Pool did not visit, but looked okay
Food could use some improvement, not much of a selection and very repetitive. What I ate tasted great though. I have them cook most of my meals in the buffet.
Room was ocean view, however a construction sight in front of us, very misleading when we booked.
Bedding was not changed only shifted around each day and towels had a bad smell one day.

Hotel Playa Coco: Good Vacation, weather was beautiful, stayed Aug 31 - Sept 7 2017, left day before Hurricane Irma
The beach was nice, but not as nice as the Carieb next door. Lots of coral getting in along the shore. Beautiful sand.
Food was okay, but very repetitive. Our last two days they had flown in the big bosses and everything was perfect. You could see the silverware shine and the buffet was fully stocked with all kinds of choices to eat. I was disappointed on the fish selection at the buffet, very little to choose from. Other resorts they have had salmon, not this one only one night. The chef on[... read more] our last night did something very special and peeled my shrimp before cooking, made it extra special. Pizza was really good, pasta and stir fry. My husband actually enjoyed his steak this time, not tough. The al la carte was not that great, seafood but not vey good selection. The Japanese was not open, but they did have sushi a couple of nights in the buffet. We could not get a reservation for the Italian overbooked.
Our room was okay, looked nice. We had an ocean view, however we had a construction sight in front of us, as they were building a new beach restaurant. Very misleading when we booked. The workers were also working all the time so it was very loud. The workers also were staying in the bottom floor living while working. The room as looked after daily, however they never changed our sheets and one day our towels smelled really bad. We did have adjoining rooms which we really liked, travelling with our teenage son. Bathroom was never really cleaned, sink and counter. Our coffeee was never replenished after the first day.
The entertainment was good, but also very repetitive with mostly dancing. They do not have an area and it was always located in the lobby except for the night they did the water show which was absolutely fantastic.
This was not a bad resort, however I would not return.
That being said, we left the day before hurricane hit Cayo Coco and I feel so sorry for all the Cubans for loosing their lively hood due to Irma, such devastation and I only hope they get back on their feet really soon. Cayo Coco is our favorite area in Cuba and have stayed at 3 other resorts next to Playa Cayo Coco. Memories Flamenco and the Carieb being our favorite. Hope they can rebuild.

Hotel Playa Paraiso: Another amazing family Vacation.
We were at Pestana august 31st to September 8. First i would like the cuban friends to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers.
We had another amazing vacation as this was our second time there.
Check in went by very fast and smooth. We were welcome with a nice cold coctail. Everyone had a coctail not just the priority club.
We got the hotel room in the building that we request. A little disapointed that we did not have connecting rooms but that was not a big of deal. The room was clea[... read more]n and welcoming as we are returning guest we got a bottle of rum in both rooms and a welcoming letter.
That was a nice touch. Thank you to the manager for that.
The weather was amazing hot and sunny only one night that it rained.
There is a lot of changes at Pestana since we went there last time. All possitive changes. The beach is larger and no more little coral in the water so no need for water shoes. They have added more palapas so more space for all.The towel service was great. Clean towel everyday. The food was never a desapointment. We can always find something to eat. We went to the Cuban restaurant. Had an amazing supper thank you to Jamila for the amazing and memorable time. I sure recommend the Cuban. We also went to the portugees we had a nice Tuna steaks was well prepared just the right way. My 11 months old fell in love with Diamond a server. Thanks Diamond for the help with Emma and the great service and smile. The chocolate dessert is a must try.
In the buffet the food was fresh and always the right temperature. No complaine there my two kids can also find something to eat. And yes there is a microwave in the buffet was great to heat the baby food. Thanks for that.
My son love the pizza a must try.
As for the 24h snack bar great improvement always something to eat. Thank you Derik for the great service the kids will remember you always. You and your wife are part of our family.
The show...well the evening show its regular. Needs more improvement and i found that the girls needs more english lesson can bearly understand what they are saying.
We had a nice dinner the last day for the returning guest was really nice but i was hoping to see the manager.
The rooms in Pestana does needs a lot of updates and there is a small fridge in the room thats a plus. We will recommend Pestana to anyone and we are looking forward to go back.
As for Sunwing well thats another story. We did have unpleasant time with sunwing and hopefuly they will improve their services.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great Beach
The resort was well kept, food as usual in Cuba was they only step back. Some of our group was ill upon returning home as well we have read that other travelers during the same time frame where ill as well so food may have been the issue. Out flight back was to be in the morning on Wednesday September 6th just as Hurricane was on its way. Our flight was delayed by Sunwing from 10am to 10pm as the planes where being utilized to transport other vacationers from the path of the Hurricane which was[... read more] great however Sunwing never informed any of the Cuba travelers about this until we all checked out and where waiting for the bus. We then waited an hour to get our rooms back until only noon. Luckily the resort staff (manager) stepped up and allowed us to hold our rooms until 4pm as Sunwing would not cover the additional cost for the rooms. With the temperature at 32 C feeling like 42 C it was nice to have somewhere to get cool and shower before we headed to the airport. Overall the resort is well kept and clean, air conditioning in the rooms was great, as mentioned earlier the only set back would be the food.

Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Worst vacation
I stayed during the week of August 22 to September 2. My possessions were stolen by by a Cuban 85031016342.
You need to be very careful these days. They are poor and have no principles or integrity.
Other than that the hotel was great.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: The beach is the only thing that made it all worth while!
My first thought coming to the hotel was cool there's a pirate ship out front maybe there will be a theme to go along with it, no there wasn't. The colors of the tiles on the floor and the paint on the side of the main lobby building were outdated, there was nothing spectacular about the landscape around the resort. The only place that had the nicest looking flowers was by the main lobby, everywhere else the grass looked dead and the other plants had hardly any flowers made it look dull. The pai[... read more]nt on the buildings is chipping off, the tiles in all the pools were falling off and I even hurt myself on the broken ones. There was an awful odor coming from the swim up bar and in another area of the resort wasn't pleasant at all, literally smelled like poo. I overheard another guest complain about it he was quite upset and I don't blame him he had been smelling it for at least 2 days, and the person he was speaking to she looked dumbfounded and didn't really know what to say. We couldn't check into the room until 4 pm which I have never heard of anywhere, we had got there at 11 am and more than half the people that had come on the same flight as us were able to check in and the rest weren't and we were part of that group. We had come back 2 hours later to see if the room was ready, the lady at the front desk didn't even check and immediately said "No!" the staff weren't very friendly to us at all it was actually really disappointing and frustrating. (I had never heard "No!" so many times before at a resort it was really annoying and after awhile and we eventually gave up and stopped asking) I had traveled with my sister and her daughter down for my niece's birthday and we emphasized that to numerous staff members and none of them made her feel special or welcomed. After us asking if they could check to see if one of our rooms was ready, the lady finally did and sure enough mine was ready all along. We get to my room half the lights in my room weren't working properly, there was an ant infestation in my bathroom, my toilet broke several times and had to get someone to come and fix it, it was really annoying. My bed broke the first day I was there and they didn't end up replacing it until that night at like 10 pm at night, when I was getting ready for bed after a long day of travelling. My sister's room wasn't any better her TV wasn't working, her toilet also broke at least 5 times, her safe locked her out, her card keys would stop working and she kept having to go to the front desk to get it replaced. The scary thing was all she had to do was say which room she was in and they gave her a key, without asking what her name was or any identification. So literally someone else could go and do the same thing and get a key for any room and steal your stuff, that made me feel really uneasy. The only thing that made this trip and the resort worth while was the beach, it was absolutely beautiful! The sand was so white and the water was so clear blue, the tides weren't super high so we were able to enjoy swimming in the ocean. The water wasn't overly salty which was nice too especially for my niece who just turned 8 and is still getting the hang of swimming. The only thing about the beach is that there isn't a lot of shade, the only shade there is by these tiki huts that always have towels on them no matter what time you go at. Found out from another lady at the resort that the staff members go early in the morning to throw towels down, they see you looking for a spot to sit so they go and grab one for you and make it look like their doing you a favor so you end up tipping them to show appreciation. It's such a big scam, all you want to do is relax when you go away and not having to worry about where you're going to sit and we even went in the slow season so we couldn't understand why they were all being used! We made the best of it despite all of our frustrations and needless to say we couldn't wait to go home by the end of it, which is actually kind of sad because you should have the feeling of not wanting to leave.
