We enjoyed our stay at the TRS Turquesa in Punta Cana. From the check in to the check out, we were well taken care off at all time. Very friendly staff, they were attentive to our well being and happiness.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Awesome Resort
This resort was everything we expected. The grounds, the beach and pools are fabulous. The food was great, always something to eat. The rooms were very clean. The rooms are dated but clean. Yes there were a couple of mosquitos, but we were not bit or anything like that. Would go back. They have multiple pools and always were able to get chairs around pools. They had lunch at pool area each day. The weather was great.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Like going Home..again.
This was our FIFTH week with the Majestics.(Feb28 to Mar 7) We stayed in a swim up room on the family side, directly across from the swim up pool bar. The room is pretty much the same as it was before, but in good shape considering it is around 15 years old. We heard that some renos and updates are planned for later this summer. From check in to check out we were treated great by all staff. This was a milestone birthday for me and Yessica led the Italian Dinning room staff in singing Happy Bir[... read more]thday and delivering an impromptu birthday cake on the day. With very few exceptions everyone we encountered was clearly happy with their work, smiling and joking and eager to make us feel welcome. That is the prime reason we are repeat visitors to Majestic.and this being our 30th Caribbean Vacation. .Food, and drinks were very good, and with enough options, there was always something to enjoy and even at non club level, top shelf liquor (imports) were available. To make things even more enjoyable we had perfect weather the whole week, Hot and Sunny. The only damper on the trip was the Air Canada rep assigned to the Majestic Elegance. Our Welcome booklet advised to attend the briefing on first morning but she was not easy to find (not in lobby as stated) and would not advise time for departure shuttle until day before departure. Even then I had to track her down. NOT the Hotel's fault in any way. As for the Majestic, Will we make it a Sixth Visit ?? Very Likely..

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Don't waist your money
The hotel looks nice until you take a closer look. My husband and I have been to many different resorts in the Dominican and have never had any problems BUT this resort..... to start it took over an hour to check in. Also...
1. The pools were pealing, the water was very cold and there was a lot of stuff/dirt floating on the surface. There were not enough umbrellas or chairs at the pools.
2. The water system was much to be desired. We had a trickle of water in our shower. My husband had to put[... read more] water from the sink in the ice bucket and pour it over me to have a shower and vice versa. After complaining 4 times about the shower (and them coming 4 times to try and fix it) we finally had pressure for two normal showers at the end of our vacation. Water was a big complaint of everyone we talked to. Some only had cold water.
3. Nine of us went down to this resort and only two didn't get sick. Some had diarrhea and some were throwing up. My husband and I had food poisoning two days before we went home. We had the same thing for lunch and ended up throwing up and diarrhea before supper which continued most of the night. I still have a sensitive stomach two days after getting home.
4. Like most resorts we have been to in the Dominican you do not drink the water from the taps in your room. The problem with this resort was there were ONLY two bottles of water a day in the rooms. By the time we made coffee and my husband filled his cpap machine there was no water for brushing teeth or taking pills or to drink. The two bottles are replaced each day but you only ever had two bottles. If you used one only one would be replaced.
5. The resort had a septic problem. You could smell sewage all around the resort. All toilet paper was to be put in the open garbage can beside the toilet and not in the toilet, not just in your own bathroom but the public bathrooms as well. Very unsanitary!!!
6. This is a very large resort with a lot of stairs. They wash the walkway and the stairs but it can get slippery on the stairs and we saw someone slip on the stairs one morning.
This was supposed to be a 4 star resort but I would have a hard time giving it a one star. If it wasn't for the awesome staff, it wouldn't have a star rating at all.
I think tripcentral needs to look more deeply into the resorts they recommend.
We are very disappointed with this resort.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: 8 days at Melia Caribe
The resort is located on a beautiful stretch of beach. There is seaweed, but the location changes daily with the winds. Water is crystal clear when the water is calm ~ warm and wonderful for swimming. The lobby is very beautiful. Modern, well maintained, and comfortable. Some staff members are great and genuinely try their best to provide a good experience (such as some servers and housekeepers), others (such as front desk, restaurant reservation, and bar) are dismissive and reluctant to help. I[... read more]n the restaurant we mostly got our own drinks and coffees. When staff do ask what you need (ie., towels, coffee, bath robes), you tell them and they say "sure" but never bring/forget the requested items. The property itself is beautifully designed and the grounds have the potential to be lovely but at this time, maintenance is visibly lacking (likely shortage of staff). The food is delicious, great selection and variety. Evenings are quiet, there are some nice shows but not much to do other than walk and admire the scenery. The lighting at night is stunning. Really beautiful design and a pleasure to experience. The main pool is big and very beautiful. Water is clean and clear, doesn't smell of chemicals. The pathways around the pool however are rather dirty and it's best to walk in shoes. Despite us being at the resort in high season (feb-march), there is a lot of construction work (building new pool cabanas, pool walkway repairs with concrete). The pool was still very enjoyable. There are gorgeous palms and everything is close. We liked the entertainment in the pool and the public restrooms (across the resort) were exceptionally clean. Rooms are okay. Design is minimalist and a bit dull. Bathrooms and balcony are fine. Beds are comfortable and bedding is clean. Checkout was quick, but checking in took forever (at least an hour) despite there being only about 6 people arriving. Many staff walk around in groups talking and joking but ignore visitors. The staffing and service is truly the downfall of this resort in our experience. Careless and non attentive staff in 2023. Overall, this resort has the makings of an awesome place. We enjoyed our time here (week +) and are grateful for the tropical experience. Covid has definitely left its mark on this resort and we hope that in the future, they recoup service level and cleanliness/maintenance to pre-covid levels. Additionally, we hope staff is provided more training in customer service and can improve in years to come. We'd give this a total of 3/4 stars max in 2023, 3 for service and matinenace, 4 for location and overall design.

Occidental Caribe: Disappointing
We were a group of 6 leaving from Halifax NS joining two other couples from Toronto and Manitoba to arrive in Punta Cana on February 26, 2023 at 10:30pm. Our flight was delayed and we did not arrive at the resort until 10:30 am on February 27, 2023. Although we paid for our rooms, no rooms were available upon arrival which was upsetting as we had no sleep with all the delays. We were told to check back at the front desk at 1pm then 2pm then 3pm.
Our upgraded room was to included Beach towels i[... read more]n room, welcoming Rum, robe/slippers and beer in fridge. We had none of that although later in the week customer service provided us with the rum. As well, we were to receive 4 meals at restaurants however we could not make reservations until we received a room. Once we finally were given a room and we went to customer service to book reservations they told us there were no reservations available. We challenged this and did get reservations however it added stress to the trip. Again more stress to our vacation. The bathroom towels were not consistent and often we were short. We had a leak in our bathroom which the maid was clearly aware as she placed a towel underneath. I am not faulting the maid crew as it clearly appears to be a supply issue for towels. The clientele for the first number of days were families from infants to grandparents. The day before we left buses upon buses arrived with student groups and the resort became unenjoyable and we could not wait to leave. The resort and our carrier should have warned us of that when booking. We requested a late check out on our last day due to our flight time however they would not give it even though we did not use the first night due to our delayed arrival and they subsequently received payment twice for that night.
No late check out even though we only received 6 of the 7 nights we paid for. Very disappointing.

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Disappointed - choose another resort!
We were at this resort on February 22, 2023 - March 1, 2023. We prefer smaller resorts, hence why we selected this one.
Beach: The beach and sand was beautiful, but not nearly enough beachfront property for so many people. Packed in like sardines, if you could even find a chair.
Vendors: Vendors, vendors and more vendors! We skipped going to the beach a few times cause they would harass you every few minutes no matter how many times you would say no thank you. Was surprised they were all[... read more]owed on the actual resort property to harass you all the time! I do mean 'harass'!!
Bar Service: Terrible lobby bar service. Didn't matter if you tipped or not. The bartenders paid more attention to each other than customers. Keep in mind if you enjoy beer, they only have Presidente draft beer and that is at all the bars. Drinks and beers are served in small plastic glasses and sometimes, the beer tasted soured. We actually went to a local store and bought beers for our fridge since service was so slow and they close exactly at midnight. note: only water is provided in your fridge (see below)
Housekeeping: Rooms are not very clean. Bath mirror had not been cleaned all week and it was dirty when we got there. Shower has mold, dispensers were empty when we got there and not once refilled. They would forget to replenish towels and toilet paper of all things. We hid toillet paper so they would replenish!! They do not provide face cloths, just 2 bath sheets and 1 hand towel and that is for 2 people! Sheets had not been changed all week!! I actually threw my top sheet on the floor, thinking they would provide new sheets. They reused the top sheet from the floor!!!! We tipped every day and made no difference whatsoever. We were not provided with a Do Not Disturb sign for the door, so beware that housekeeping could walk in anytime! When I asked for one, they could not understand what I was asking for. Please note: They do not provide creamers for your coffee in the room. Sometimes they didn't even replenish the coffee in our room. They only provide water for your fridge. Hubby would take water from housekeeping carts because they would only leave us one bottle most of the time, and would leave the part opened bottle from previous day for coffee maker.
Pool: The pools are beautiful, however be sure to get up by 6am to get a pool chair at the main pool. People would put towels on chairs and leave for the day. Out of a week stay, we were only able to obtain chairs once and that was because some people had left. They truly should keep on eye on that because chairs would sit empty from 6am to 6pm when the pool would close down for the night.
Gounds: Very well kept and I will give them credit for that.
Food: We only tried the Japanese Restaurant. Food was ok, but not really Japanese! Buffet was typical. Good variety, but seemed to be the same every day. Some food items didn't have a label, so who knows what was being served. No milk at the coffee machine, so you have to look for it around the buffet somewhere. You can't go in with swimsuits/coverups, so be prepared to change clothes all the time! I recommend the Food Truck on the beach as they made great burgers and fries. That food truck was much better than the actual buffet!
Spa: The spa was amazing and recommend Dominicia! If it wasn't for the spa, I would give this resort a 1 out of 5.
Things to do: We saw yoga, aquafit, etc classes on the beach, however we were never provided with a schedule, so we had no idea when anything was being offered. There isn't much to do at night. Pool bar had comedy shows or something, but only in French. Shows at the theater every night, and beach party twice a week. Be sure to go to the theater early cause you may not find a table or even chairs. Place gets packed because there isn't anything else to do.
We will NEVER go back to this resort, nor would we ever recommend. I am disappointed in this place and should have gone somewhere else for $2025.00!
I am giving this resort a 2.0 and that's because the spa was wonderful and for only that reason.
Strongly recommend going to another resort and definitely NOT this one.
PS: brings lost of money because they EXPECT to be tipped ALL the time!! Also, keep in mind that everything closes at midnight, so no snacks or drinks to be had.

VIK Hotel Arena Blanca: Great Resort
Food was really good and it was nice not to have to make reservations for the rotating ''À la carte'' restaurants (Mexican, Seafood and Italian). Buffet also had a nice selection and the food was great!
Grounds are very well kept, public bathrooms were immaculate all over the resort.
Rooms were well maintained, great maid service everyday. Water and toilet paper replenished everyday.
If you are looking for a ''party place'' this resort is not for you. Although there were shows nightly, it [... read more]was low key and average. But this is place is great for relaxation to recharge your batteries.
Like the fact that it is on the ''smaller'' size, everything within easy walking distance.
The beach is this section has been somewhat eroded but still beautiful. This is no fault of the resort.
With all the ''open air spaces'' (lobby, theater, dining facilities) we didn't feel that masks were required anywhere. Hand sanitizers were readily available all over.

Occidental Caribe: Poor Customer Service
The hotel was mediocre at best. We had booked a superior room with a king sized bed. Our assigned room had two double beds. It did have a fantastic view of the ocean. The room was supposed to be stocked with water, pop, a bottle of rum, beer and snacks. The water was hit and miss dependant upon what they had on the cart. We never had beer or snacks supplied to the room. We eventually got a bottle of rum after speaking to guest services twice and our Air Transat Representative twice.
W[... read more]hen we tried to book dinners in the restaurants, we were met with great resistance and told on Day 1 that there was no space available in any of the restaurants. We refused to leave customer service until we had some bookings as our package allowed for four choices. The food in the restaurants was good but they were only half full so I am not sure why it was so difficult to get a reservation. Any time we went to customer service for an inquiry, we were told to come back later as no one was available to assist us. Overall I would say the resort did not live up to the promised package and the building was somewhat run down. We enjoyed the weather, but were generally disappointed with how we were treated while there - the remainder of our group had an even worse experience due to a delayed flight. They gave away their rooms so they were not able to get into a room until 4 pm on the day of their arrival after having been travelling all night long! I blame it on the management of he resort as the workers- with the exception of Guest Services did the best they could with what they had.

Coral Costa Caribe: Coral Costa Caribe
Pros:
The Safari excursion (offered by Sunwing?) was VERY nice! highly recommended!
The rooms had powerful AC units that cooled the rooms down within minutes (they are off when no one is in the room).
The buffet was surprisingly very good! All water that was served to us was bottled water.
There and many bars in the resort and the service and decent and fast.
Most staff were polite, friendly, and helpful.
Minor issues:
Beach vendors often come by to harass you to buy somet[... read more]hing. They are very insistent and use high pressure sales tactics. For example, my girlfriend had a vendor start making an ankle bracelet around her foot without consent. They are very pushy and only leave you alone if you totally ignore them or if you say "no thank you" a few times in a row.
ATM machine is hard to locate. Asking front desk employees can help guide you to the right location (outside main entrance)
Major issues:
Were were told not to drink the tap water 24 hours after arrival. I drank the water(1 small sip) to take my pills in the morning without knowing it was unsafe. I had digestive issues for a week after/during the vacation.
When booking, we wanted 1 king bed but upon arrival we were given 2 queens. We asked to change rooms and they we kind enough to changed us the following day. However, in the new room, there was a cockroach under our mattress. After a complaint, they changed us immediately to another room. They handled things nicely, but it was 2 days of changing rooms instead of enjoying the resort.
You need 20$ USD as part of a leaving/exit tax. This was not explained to us before arriving. When leaving, we were told that they accepted Dominican Pesos equal to 20$USD. Our Sunwing representative told us that 1000 Dominican Pesos = 20$ USD. At the airport we were told it was 1200 Dominican Pesos and they don't have change. I had to take out money from an ATM twice and overpaid (2500 dom. pesos) just to leave the country. I understand this is not the Hotel's fault, but I'm putting this here for general information and precaution. It would be nice for this information to be accurate and available from the hotel and not to have to stress and overpay throughout the leaving process.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Cap Cana Hammock: Beyond my expectations!
The resort is the perfect size easy to get around. The restaurants were the best I’ve eaten at in the DR and no reservations needed. Huge plus! Very modern no cash needed for anything. Room key is on your bracelet very handy. Touch less elevator buttons. We stayed in the adult section but the family section was very quiet no problems. The rooms were very nice and clean with large balconies and outside seating. Lobby bar always had some kind of entertainment going on in the evenings. Super frie[... read more]ndly and helpful staff. It’s the first resort that I would consider staying at again. The only cons I would say is the concierge service which is really just a pressure salesman to buy timeshare in their villas. I found that to be a real turnoff, he was quite pushy. And the beach area wasn’t great but the pool area was awesome! Cap Cana is literally 10 minutes from the airport so also a bonus. Overall I would definitely recommend this resort, service, food and high tech features were all great.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Fabulous resort in every aspect!
As a seasoned all inclusive traveller, I cannot say enough about this resort! From the check in, to the food, grounds, rooms, pools and beach, it was perfect! The grounds are like a nature park and kept immaculately. I can honestly say I have never stayed at a resort as well maintained or as clean as this one. The layout of the main buffet restaurant is brilliant, as the food area is in a separate space, closed in by sliding doors, separating where you dine from the commotion of where you ge[... read more]t the food. While we did try one a la carte restaurant (Mexican), we ended up cancelling the others we had booked. The buffet was fantastic. The fresh salad/vegetable options, we could not get enough of.
The location of the beach was about the best on the strip. Wide beach and not crazy busy, like other parts of the beach strip. There could be more beach loungers and palapas, as one did have to get to the beach early (7:30ish) in order to secure a shady spot and lounger.
Rooms were recently renovated and beautiful. Loads of hot water, comfortable beds and AC worked perfectly.
There were a lot of families and young children at this resort, so if you are looking for a more mature, quiet place, this might not be for you. That being said, we did not encounter any noise problems or loud, misbehaving travellers. We had a fantastic week and would return in a heart beat!

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Disappointed deffinetly not not enjoyable!
Having travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean I know a quality resort and this is not one. Upon arrival front desk is trying to up sell us for an additional $800.00 USD what they said was a recommended Level Experience. We purchased a Premium package and did not upgrade to The Level. So first day on Beach we experienced the management taking towels off chairs as people were not in the chair for a half hour. So you could not go to lunch, walk on the beach or even go for a swim and exp[... read more]ect to come back to your chair. There were not enough chairs for the amount of people staying at the hotel on beach or by the pools. Chair theft and arguments were common. There is only one bathroom for the beach and restaurant and line ups were long. Only one bar on beach and water downed alcohol. The bar was at the far end of the beach by the bathrooms are. If you are in the premium the lunch and breakfast was buffet and the food and coffee was always cold. There was only one guy for eggs and omelets. There was no bacon after 8 am. You have to go each day to book your ala carte dinner for the next day. By the third day we gave in to Level up of an additional cost of $560.00USD as we only experienced frustration and disappointment. Once you Level up you now had another bathroom you could go to. You now also had premium alcohol and ala cart breakfast and lunch were food and coffee was hot. We have been to other hotels were you have Lunch and breakfast as ala cart and you booked two to three day for dinners. Also other hotels were you did not need to book reservations at all just walked in to restaurant and they would seat you if room if not you wait or go to another one. The room was substandard paint pealing off ceiling in bathroom tiles damaged and caulked over. The floor drain had a sewer smell and small black flies continuously came out of drain. Had to put towel over the drain and keep door closed to keep the smell from entering the rest of the room. Complained to front desk nothing was done. Our patio/balcony was on the ground level which was fine except that hotel staff used it as a short cut carrying equipment to and from where they were going within three feet of balcony there was no privacy. The flower beds were all dead weeds wild grass not flowers which is not usual for Dominican. This was and Adults Only Hotel and just outside the room door was a Kids water park from the sister hotel next door. Why is the Waterpark not at that Hotel? Hear kids yelling all day long we came on vacation to get away from that and booked an Adults only but did not get it as even on the beach there would be kids and parents walking around up by your chairs. Its one thing to be on the beach walking but not walking around especially when you are on the roped in area of the LEVEL Beach Area. We could go on and on about our disappointment with this resort would not recommend it to anyone. It is a 3.5 -4 star at best if you Level up.

We went to the Catalonia Bavaro Golf and Beach resort,
Check in was easy but i do not understand why they want all guest to come back and check in a 3pm, it makes for a rush at the counter at that time.
The front check in staff all spoke good English,
The front lobby bar was awesome, Sarah, Icelia Nicole and Kelvin were fantastic there was another male manager there but forgot his name, he was great as well. The staff there was hopping at night and service was great.
We spent a lot o[... read more]f time between the Pool and the Beach, Jessica at the beach bar was fantastic, she always greeted us with a smile and a nice hello.
We ate breakfast and lunch most times at the Pool restaurant Maria at the counter of the pool restaurant always greeted us with a smile, Yanny was our server and took care of us most times though we would try to go a different server in the morning to spread the wealth around.
The a la carts were good we went to them almost every second night as we found the main buffet was very repetitive.
Overall we had a great time

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Disappointed
We stayed at the confederacy February 26 to March 4, 2023. We were scheduled to arrive on February 25 but due to flight delays we didn’t arrive until February 26. Although we pre-paid for seven nights accommodations when we arrived on February 26 we were told the room wasn’t ready. We arrived at approximately 9:30 AM February 26, and had to sit and wait until almost 4 PM for our room. Difficult to understand how a room that we had paid for for the night of February 25 wasn’t available? The[... read more] service at the main reception check-in was deplorable. There was no empathy for the amount of time we were delayed arriving at the resort, nor was there any level of positive customer service when we inquired about our room availability. The Transat rep was very sarcastic and belittling. The resort itself was ok. However, the food was below standard of a four-star resort and undercooked. I would not recommend this resort and will certainly not be returning for another stay.
